Me to go over some um successes that this senior class has had including me one of the most successful programs in armr history they made the playoffs in all four of their seasons of Being Varsity players this group also was a part of the first section title in girls
Basketball program history they have the record for most wins in a season most points in a game the longest winning streak in the program numerous individual records including the being scorer in NF in boys and girls basketball and they’ve had 58 wins in counting in the last four

Seniors for the team we recognize five players and the team manager recognized prior to the game hope you were able to tune in for that we came on a little earlier than scheduled uh because they pushed that up to the conclusion of the JV game but this is Josh Shen goon to my
Left once again backto back Mr Todd ashot Todd how are you sir how was your weekend doing great doing great excited to be here excited to be on high toop Sports yet again looking forward to a nice game here between the riverhawks and the Fox Chapel foxes riverhawks
Coming on a coming in on an 11 game winning streak they’re on really playing really good basketball right now uh the foxes came up here last year and they upset the riverhawks in an overtime game and uh I’m expecting to see something really uh really tough or tightly
Contested game here tonight yeah looking forward to it the riverhawks have been on fire for quite a while basically haven’t lost in 2024 um taking it to I believe it’s an 11 game winning streak Todd am I correct on that correct yeah the last they lost was December 29th so you’re right on
That yeah and the riverhawks looking to make it 12 in a row a dozen straight uh took home the section title for the second straight year clinch that last week while we were on the air which was pretty cool got to announce that and we are going to to pause really quickly for

Them uh at least four or five times on high top sports so um I’m looking forward to uh to watching them in action tonight on senior night here yeah so you’ve got a chance to see what a tremendous season Emma Paul is having this year it’s just kind of uh
I’ve talked to Coach califer about it numerous times uh she’s just kind of seeing the game at a different uh at different speed than everybody else and she is has become way more efficient this year shooting percentage shooting 41% from downtown I asked Coach Cal I
Said it’s got to be tops in the whip for anybody with 100 attempts minimum right and he said I don’t know you know we don’t find that stuff out until the end of the year but I would love to know uh where she’s at she’s shooting you know
Um 47% from the field 41 from three I mean she’s just the best I hate to use the adjective to say uh Little Giant but she she’s a giant she is a giant she’s a giant for this uh School District she’s Giant for the program she has the four
Years that she’s had here have been just unbelievable and um you know we would take some time here to sit and appreciate what she’s done alltime leading scorer boys and girls here at Armstrong High School really really really good player uh girl that everyone looks up to here
As far as like the younger players in the girls program and uh she’s nice nice person uh to uh be somebody that’s representative of uh this program and school district oh that’s very well put Todd uh I would agree with that and I would also I think we brought it up a
Little bit on the broadcast on Friday I I think she is the best athlete male or female that this school has ever seen uh in its short existence uh what she’s done on the softball field absolutely incredible and I’m certainly looking forward to see her senior softball
Season as well you can’t argue it I will not argue it I will agree that she’s the best athlete to come through this school the only person we could probably compare to would be kayen Olson and she the the impact that she’s had has been unbelievable and she’s good at
Everything she does any sport I watched her in Powderpuff last year oh yeah which the seniors the seniors had were coming off a win as Juniors the year before and they were stacked with athletes like Jen Clon and um Emma smarik and Bella Atherton and I thought
For sure that the seniors were going to whip up on the Juniors and she took charge as quarterback and it was a blowout the Juniors blew out the seniors last year and it was the Emma Paul show so but I left the stadium that night thinking that girl anything she does is
She she’s good at for sure you know I called her uh we broadcasted the past two Powderpuff games uh on orders of do Dr Deborah Snider that that was a broadcast that hi High toop was going to do we were excited to do it and I said to um I said to the
Folks I said to the folks on the broadcast last year or this season that that last year she looked like Mike Vic Circ 2004 just lightening up our opening tip off here ufp Parker opening tip riverhawks control sah Weaver trying to find Paul She saves it two Fitzgerald up
No good Miss lay up left side and a rebound and a quick foul there by the riverhawks so the tip the uh the tip play work there Todd it just uh unable to execute the layup there by Fitzgerald yeah on the on her dominant side too

She the catcher for their softball team I feel like said that name before I tell you this Natalia schaer’s dad is a Katanning grad his name is Kevin Schaefer he graduated with me from Katanning he’s in in the house right now so he moved to Fox Chapel and um she
Plays for the foxes wow look at that bringing it full circle here Todd Paul with a little floater no good for cheral gets the offensive board but steps on the line Natalia schaer last year hit a three-pointer at the end of regulation to send this game into overtime in which
The fox has dealt a loss to the Hawks here in the n what year was that you graduated high school in Katanning Todd it was 1989 Josh 89 man I would I would have paid to see uh your your style back then Todd it’s about the same that you’re used to

Beautiful passes being able to see the floor just she can create she really is a Creator it’s just incredible her vision and that’s uh one thing that coach caliper and I as I said I’ve talked to him I said the last last time I talked to him I said Here Comes the obligatory
Emma Paul portion of the interview because you you’re not talking about any game the riverhawks play without talking about her but I said you know what sets her apart from any other player you’ve ever coached and he said her basketball IQ is just off the charts uh you know
She could take an entire quarter just Distributing the basketball to try and get her teammates going and then if needed or when needed she just starts lighting it up from downtown or taking it to the hoop I mean she really has an awareness of the situation of the game
That I don’t think a lot of high school players male or female have just look at already tonight she has assisted at least on three baskets for the Hawks and all of them been really nice job looking looking at the floor and uh really Distributing it

Team do want to mention that Fox Chapel senior Sarah Slumber had an ACL injury she’s one of their better players as well she’s sitting Street closed on the bench and uh you know just hurt really really you can tell it would hurts when a girl is a senior or boy’s a senior and
They have their senior season taken away from them energy or injury we talked about that with Isaiah Brown last time we were together so that makes it 10 to three Fitzgerald has eight but a good play inside by the foxes schaer gets alone there as a defensive lap
Laps and they tried to get her to go there a little early Paul pull up top of the key BS home with three andma Paul on senior night could you expect anything less finds a way doesn’t she you know they were counting down there the Fox Chapel it was like was
That our cheerleaders that were counting down who was counting down right there sound like it was coming from our side I definitely think they were trying to get us to shoot early I don’t know why they would be doing that I mean the uh the home team that is the riverhawks I say
Us because you know being a Katan graduate I have a an affinity for this school of course but it was uh they were counting down and I’m like I look up and I see they’re still 5 seconds I’m like why are they counting Emma down to shoot quick she
Was obviously as I said before aware of the situation right and you’re going to try to fool somebody you shouldn’t be trying to fool her yeah really and uh more than enough time for Emma Paul to fire one up and Bank it in for a 13-5 lead

Little jumper no good she is fouled kylo Fitzgerald the senior going to the line leading all scores with eight points right now nice job by Fitzgerald getting down and getting that picking up that loose ball so free throw shooting has uh kind of been an issue for the Hawks but deep

Hawks well they at least got Fox jabble to commit a couple of fouls there I guess it was ultimately a successful trip down the court we’ve got another night where there hasn’t been a lot of fouls last time we were together for Armstrong Fox Chapel there weren’t a lot of fouls in

Player six points for schaer 15-7 Paul again finds Fitzgerald on the Block Fitzgerald up two strong on the left side that time and Paul’s just dropping dimes right here have a little trouble converting them on the offensive end for the Hawks but still in the lead
And P is going to get called for that one nice take there by Isabella Barber yeah she went strong with the left hand right there that’s not an easy thing to do if your dominant hand is right-handed trust me I’ve turned that ball over lots of times and you’re right she’s going to
Shoot his free throw with her right hand I mean I assumed she was right-handed dominant I saw her shoot before so I was like oh man going hard to the left I mean even in my mind during the game that worries me when I try to do that not known for my left

Another home game here I would assume for the riverhawks in the first round I don’t know how it works I was surprised they had one last year oh what a great rebound rebound by allensworth and then Weaver comes in and picks her up and a miss so Weaver back
To the line boy allensworth skying for that board what an athletic rebound by allensworth there using her volleyball skills to get some get some get some height on that jump I’m telling you I didn’t nickname her killer C for nothing when she’s on the volleyball court I
Mean she hits some lasers out there in the middle for Armstrong she’s an athlete for sure Claver drops that one in second one up by Sarah Weaver it’s good so back to a 10-point lead for the riverhawks oh good take right there but can’t finish went up with the right hand
Instead of the left that was Barber out of there with another defensive rebound or the riverhawks they’ve been doing a great job on the glass to they have they have the one and duns are important and if you’re the team that can hold the other team to the majority of one and
Duns you’ve got a good chance of winning a game de Gregorio Miss right there and melish another offensive rebound for her she’s got a couple great look unbelievable The Vision by Emma Paul finds a wide open Sarai Weaver for an easy bucket I know she’s been doing

Record and then 20 and know overall we’re going to Hawks at least are going to want to avoid being on the same side of the bracket as the O Catholic girls yeah I haven’t seen them play live but I’ve read a bit about them and I’ve seen some you know some highlights and
Stuff they are they got it all really they have shooting size they’re good they’re just good I mean sometimes you you see another team warming up when you get in the gym and you’re like oh it’s going to be a long night and they have uh provided many long nights for people
So far this season I you said 11 and0 in conference so but the riverhawks I’ll tell you what they dropped those first two uh section matchups one to shaylor one to North Hills and since then they have not lost and they avenge both of those losses in in pretty dominant fashion Todd they
Have they not sure what happened early in the season just a couple little blips for them and give credit to the coaching staff and to the girls themselves for coming back and you know being on this nice winning streak here to end the season if you’re going to go on a streak

For both of those programs as we said you know the softball team has been on a pretty historic run here the past three years I know the Junior High softball girls did not lose a game I believe they were 20 and0 this Junior High season and I think the junior high the seventh
Grade at least I believe they were 13 and one with only one loss to 6A norn so there’s a lot of a lot of good take there’s a lot of help coming in the lower grades for the girls Athletics programs here and I think softball more
So than basketball is one of the uh Sports where you can kind of transition the younger players into prominent roles more so uh you know not being 100% physically developed yet as you would be as a senior um you know there’s some girls that just can whip it you know and
They’re in sixth grade and can bring the heat faster than you’ll see varsity pitches throwing so I think there’s some some help on the horizon as you said Todd if you think about the softball team they lost their entire starting Outfield they lost their pitcher and they lost their catcher so that you’re

This program well the caliber just shows you what kind of athlete she is the caliber that the softball teams have had here at arm strong the last four years and she started a short stop all four of those years even as a freshman so that goes to show you you know whii champs
