I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my channel where you can learn how to play the best golf of your life. Whether you are an expert golfer looking for a quick swing tune-up or a beginner looking to play better. I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.

My mission as your swing coach is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My goal for you is to have the most fun of your life playing golf. You’ll be hitting farther, straighter, and playing better golf by watching these videos. What are you waiting for, let’s get started!

And today we’re looking at something that’s costing you big time meaning that it’s costing you shots on the golf course and it’s ruining some of your golf swing happiness I see a lot of golfers focus on getting the club tow up in the takeaway I’ve seen this in many

Golf magazines many videos all over they say go tow up and that’s what a good takeaway is supposed to be like well there’s one big problem with this and it’s creating your Big Slice because the club face angle determines the start direction of the golf ball so the second

I choose to open the club face is the second now at impact it’s pointing right it’s open I’m here I get back to the ball there we are so the ball’s going right for the right-and player it’s going off the planet unless I do one thing I have to

Use psycho hand manipulation I have to figure out how to get this club face back to square so that comes in the form of toe up and then having to rotate the hands they’ll say toe up again

  1. This killed me for 10 years. The downswing flip to combat it had to be perfect that day or my swing was trash

  2. Tommy, coming at you from the Northeast, see you rocking the shorts.
Sigh….I can live vicariously through you bro.
    Appreciate your tips.
In the meantime I'll be using those tips when hitting balls into the net, in the garage.
    C'mon spring!!

  3. Another crispy nugget! When looking from behind the golfer….the club toe should be 1/2 o'clock, not 12. No manipulation required. Keep it simple, keep it real! ❤ TS.

  4. I’m constantly amazed by instructors who insist that where the club face is pointing 2-3 feet into the takeaway determines where the club face will be at the moment of impact. The real question is, “square/open to what, exactly”. Further, why does one want the club face “square”? This idea that one need “psycho hand manipulation” is ludicrous and displays a complete lack of understanding of biomechanics. Telling people they must “hold the face square” makes them restrict the natural and required pronation/supination of the forearms … remember Hogan’s comments on this subject? I’ve heard it when I was a learning golfer, as a tournament player, and now as an instructor myself and it makes no sense, yet it’s repeated ad nauseum. The take away DOES NOT MATTER, only impact matters. We’ve seen “shut” to under, “open” to over, “square” to neutral. It’s such a waste of time when instructors and players should be focused on more important things like leverage, minimizing rotation, and stabilizing a fundamentally unstable system.

If it’s costing people shots, how the heck did Hogan, Trevino, Snead, etc. and now Furyk, Wolff, etc. pull this off and win so many majors?

  5. I was doing this, could not hit anything straight! My psycho hand manipulation was not very good! Now I keep the club face square from take away to contact, I push straight back with no hand manipulation and my ball is going straight on every shot.
    Great tip!

  6. Coach. I find that I have to open the club a little in takeaway in longer irons to hit straight. Why is this?

  7. Tom and might get banded. Bro your shit works shot a 62 on a par 54 and now I hit my driver 280 off the tee😂😂 y'all Bette listen forget tradition I like my game now… ❤

  8. Finally got out to a range with my $4 1970's 9i fully forged blade. Great compression, was able to hit draws, straight, 9i cuts are a bit tougher, but they were cutting. Thank you Tom for all you do. I was tagging a target just past 125 effortlessly and repeated over and over again. Beatport, all my golf buddies think I've lost my touch and am gonna be rusty. MMMM HMMMM… I keep sharing your vids with them, hope they are following along. Especially one of my friends, makes a point to always toe up. He has a tendency to lose em way right. Mmmm hmmm

    👍👍👍
