Think it’s safe to say that just about everything orbiting rexam has escalated quite quickly um uh uh not excluding of course the uh the emms and all that sort of stuff so um yeah it’s been a little bit of a ride I got to say it’s been

Wild I um I was so proud of everyone uh on the am WIS but it’s particularly the the the team embedded on the ground and Rex them and you know you see them they’re shoving their cameras in your face all the time and um um those are

The folks that really deserve it I mean they’re just there in and out day after day they they never leave and they they work so hard to find these stories and and you know and and I always say that in rexam the stories are kind of growing

On the trees I mean they’re just it’s everywhere you look there’s something to talk about and it’s it’s a pretty awesome place it is the stories behind the the town and the people that have made the show what it is really because there’s been so many other football

Films that are dire yeah or the acting of them playing football is terrible or other TV shows that show the The Fluffy side of football reom shows all of it yeah well frankly it’s it’s I would say it’s it’s as centered on that on the town and the people that inhabit that

Town as much as it is the football club um I would say the least of which it’s focused on uh Rob and myself I mean you know we we try to um really Center the town uh we only kind of jump in in the

Show if we if we really need to but it’s uh um half the time it’s we’re just obligatorily putting ourselves in the show just to you know make sure that that the presence is there but it’s we don’t even need to be there and it’s just it’s as entertaining as you could

Possibly imagine and so moving with Humphrey narrating as well Humphrey boy oh boy that guy’s that guy’s special I tell you as one of the lads in the dressing we love hrey everyone loves hrey who doesn’t love exactly like you just see him R and his big coat he’s

Down to his shins and you just want to give him a cuddle all the time he’s so he’s kind he’s like weirdly and inexplicably heartbreaking yeah he is yeah love hum right obviously this is a bit of a goalkeeping show this one’s slightly different goalkeeping is like my second language it’s

Goalkeeper I don’t know Mark you’re tough to beat there buddy I’m not actually joking because Mark you have something that a lot of guys don’t and I know you probably don’t you’re British so you hate praise but let me Heap some on you there you possess a kind of

Tender grit that you bring to that dressing room each and every day that makes it I think the best dressing room in all of professional sports not just football um not in Wales not just in the UK but everywhere and um and the way you handle yourself when you come into games

As needed and you show up and you deliver that’s that’s some you’re breathing rare air the way you do that and the way you lead by example and um I I know I speak for Rob mhan when I say that uh probably 50% of the times that

We’ve been moved to tear when it comes to rexim uh those tear have been in some way shape or form authored by you apologies yeah no in in a good way though so anyway all right enough of that I’ll uh treat you like a [ __ ]

Into his own quickly but like you know you saw him in that first couple of matches where they were I think there were just some Cup games or something I’m not even sure if it was an exhibition game or something but it was it was wild to see him mature sure as

Quickly as he did yeah but he’s got guys like you to talk to and hang out with and you know lead lead by example we’ve got another young good goalkeeper at the club as well Luke mcnicholas I’m sure the club and the fans will see a lot of

Him going forward and that uh and then obviously myself as well I wanted to chuck me in there but you’ve already biged me up quite a lot yeah I did I did I would never big time you Mark I uh yeah I brought it for you buddy right uh

What do you know about Goldie gloves Ryan what do I know about goalie gloves um wow let me think surely nothing well they’re very um goalie gloves very fluffy you know warm warm yeah chunky do you think that they’d make a good addition to Deadpool suit could you

Imagine just like in that perfectly Sleek suit that there isn’t even like a just a millimeter of room in there and then just these massive hands I think it’d be kind of awesome I think it would look uh look the part in the film anyway

I’m going to write it in right now yeah yeah probably catching a bullet or a grenade or something course you know what that’s like it how how do you handle when that ball like who on rexam AFC would you say has the hardest kick Jordan Davis I thought it wasis and it’s

An absolute missile that moves at you every time and he’s literally trying to hurt you with every shot wow so it’s either the funnest time or the worst time depending on the day whether you’re watching or a Target yeah so on smashes itly Paul mullen’s finishing is ridiculous but the way that Jordan

Strikes a ball scary at times Ms yeah Maniacs all of them all of them yeah uh is there any comparisons to the Deadpool costume then and a football kit is it like actually made for its purpose or is it just all look there is the the Deadpool suit is really well armored I

Mean I can’t I’ve I could probably say there’s 10 to 15 times that the suit has saved me from a serious hospital visit natur getting hurt yeah yeah no for real it’s it’s really well strucked structured it’s well made it’s a it’s a feat of engineering as much as it is

Made for Aesthetics but you know it’s got that thick kind of armored layer um it’s tight as hell I’ve never shot a Deadpool movie outside of the summer until this one uh Hollywood went on strike as may maybe heard uh so shut down for many months so the movie’s been

Boarded or and written I wrote huge chunks of it to be take to take place in the summer um trying to shoot the movie in natural environments as opposed to um in sound stages so it’s been hard coming back in the winter with you know 7 hours

Of usable British daylight and um I think today was about minus one orus two maybe to all day yeah crazy but then those are the days you’re kind of grateful to be in the suit because for once I’m not just sweating to death nice what can we expect from Deadpool 3 I’m

Only going to do a little bit on your film but obviously you’re here filming for Deadpool you’re in England there’s not too much I could say I mean other than I’m having the the one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had making a movie because I’m doing it with

A couple of my closest friends on the planet and you know it’s not every day you get to make a movie with where you spend the entire day just laughing and having the time of your life so that’s going to draw a little comparison obviously to footballers and to actors

That like we’re so used to being away for away games weekends preseason trips and that yeah and obviously actors you’re way working or doing interviews and promos yeah do you think there is a correlation or do you think it’s no for sure I mean we all you know I think it’s

Sort of one of the reasons that the the the players uh on the club at the club and the our the chairman myself and Rob we all get along so well is that we all sort of speak the same language we all know what it’s like to sort of

Constantly be in limbo and flux and never really knowing where you’re going to be next year or next month even sometimes so um yeah there’s a sort of a slightly nomadic lifestyle that I think we all um share yeah when it comes to this stuff so yeah uh how hard is that

On the family life it’s terrible you know my wife and I have been really lucky it’s an obscene privilege to be able to not work at the same time you know um and It’s tricky because like our work often involves leaving you know to another continent for you know many

Months at a time so we try to keep our family together as much as possible but this is the first time we’ve had to be be a part we’re shooting movies at the same time she’s shooting in New York City and I’m uh shooting here so it’s

Been really tough but uh you know I’m almost done as of this recording I’m I’ve I’m I have I think four shooting days left yeah looking forward to a nice break then yeah yeah yeah I mean we’re in the edit room for the next you know

Couple months but um but that’s also a pleasure I mean it’s I get to see my kids every day I get to walk them to school I get to see my wife so it’s good yeah the fundamentals of Life yeah yeah yeah right I’m going to go on with our

Oh every time I go to the quiet Qui is the first place I go um every time when that starts to fill up and then I try to come in the the the dressing room but you also you don’t want to be distraction you just kind of want to you

Know disappear and make sure everybody’s got their game face off you know what’s really funny seeing the new Lads interaction when you come in compared cuz we were all there on yeah you were yeah and obviously we’ve all met you now and know you well enough but the new

Lads you’re all looking at them going oh my God look at them they are actually still star I met Luke mcnicholas recently that was one of the first time yeah oh that’s funny because I’m a little the feeling is kind of mutual right I mean you know we’re so involved

With every I mean if you saw the amount of texts and emails I wake up to every day that just have to do with Rex and business I mean it just never ends and it’s incredibly stressful but we’re constantly talking about the the staff ways to improve ways to grow this club

Ways to um connect the club with the Community even more and um so like when I walk in the dressing room I’m always a little geeked out too it’s just crazy and then you see everyone on the pitch but then when you see them up close and

In person it’s a lot like any professional sport everybody’s about twice as large as you think they are and we’re all ready to go to war about 10 minutes before you normally see us you especially man you do not [ __ ] around your prep is like you’re already back in

The locker room I like to chill out I’m as I said ear I’m a little bit older I like to come in early and just chill I’m one of The Quiet Ones I like to think I’m the dad of the dressing room so I’ve just got to make sure everyone’s

Looked after and got their Pat lunches and that stuff that’s a bit like me on Deadpool right now I get in there early I’m sort of one of the first people in usually and then you know I like to just kind of settle in and have a coffee and

Get my head right and then off to work we go yeah nice uh what was the the feeling of promotion like last year for you oh man I don’t know if that was a if that was a a drug we’d all be a mess I

Mean that that I I don’t I I Rob described it really best it was literally like our soul left our body in that moment when everybody just started to flood onto the field um I I don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that you didn’t really get

To hang around for long after the game the Bor and wood game either not too long no we got to we got to hang out on the on the field a bit we got to you know hoist some silverware we got to have a little bit fun but yeah it was a

It was fast in and out uh what’s next for the club oh man obviously we’re doing quite well this year we’re doing very well but I don’t count any of those chickens until they’re hatched it’s any this sport is what’s so crazy about the sport Anything Can Happen yeah you know

You can prepare and prepare and prepare but I think one of the things I’ve been most impressed with is the way Phil has made this club so resilient you know we lose players to injury for for large swaths of time and there’s always somebody who can step in who’s as good

Sometimes better you know rising to the occasion and just you know remember when toer took himself out for for a minute and then someone got injured and he had to step in I think it was in the knots game yeah and he just scored a goal like

That was just the way he did it too was just so it was just so be very moving to see because I know he’d been through quite a bit with losing his dad and um I don’t know this this this uh this is the most romantic sport on the planet like

You said the way that the gaffa assembles a dressing room the personalities it puts into it there’s no accidents yeah and obviously I’ve got to give him huge credit I’ve with him before like but the way that he managed to to organize 30 Lads and make sure that we are self-sufficient and run

Ourselves yeah it’s incredible management no it’s really it’s really really special and you’re right you see that each one of those players are are going into battle and they would give their last drop of blood to perform and and and win for that town and and you

Know Rob and I both and I we feel the same way that we we have to reciprocate that feeling you know like we have to reciprocate that that gesture I mean we we would give our last drop of blood to to see this club move forward in in

Every way and just what a like what a special year this has already been you know right uh one massive question that the lads are going to make sure that I’ve asked I’ve not even told them that you’re on the show yet okay great cuz I

I’m not really sure I don’t know what to say or what to do be honest about not knowing what to say or what to do and I think it humanizes you and it you know there’s nothing worse than somebody who pretends to know you know so I I I I’ve

Been lucky to work in a lot of different sectors not just film and television but you know booze and Telecom and you know Performance Marketing and all kinds of crazy stuff and I one of the greatest uh uh I think tools I have in my toolkit is to just kind of go in

Honestly always you know and and and at heart I’m a Storyteller and every one of these things are stories including rexam and so interacting with the players and the staff the ground staff even around rexam I mean everybody it’s sort of you know coming in and not kind of imposing

Some sort of you know um uh weird Cult of Personality or something and also just kind of breaking down any of that hierarchical [ __ ] too like Rob and I don’t we we want to talk to everyone we love everybody that not just plays on that field but the folks that are

Working you know working at that field so that’s been fun getting to know those guys and kind of just feeling like you’ve been welcomed into that as a person and not some you know it’s probably like you guys feel you know when people look at you as human beings

And not just as Elite athletes or you know however you want to describe yourself but but uh even the way that you support us as players obviously you coming on this show P’s clothing line Mendy’s clothing line even the way that you helped fory and Jordan through their

Struggles and Toes like the people forget that you are human because we all see you on films and that but like the way that you’ve both dealt with it you and Rob like I can’t give you any enough credit and I remember when we got promoted I was like uh these are the

Moments I said to you on the pitch these are the moments that you’ll remember forever and I I couldn’t think of a better owner to work for in my whole career let alone right now yeah I love I mean I literally literally love you and these players I mean everybody there

It’s like when something great happens in the players lives I want to share that with them and I want to talk about it with them when something terrible happen we all go through hardships and and and rough roads and all kinds of [ __ ] and you know I think I think you

Want to be there for them then too you know I mean I I know that I’ve benefited in massive ways from people who stepped in for me when I couldn’t and um you know if you could spend the rest of your life just paying stuff like that forward
