Sunday morning rain is falling you know what that means today it’s time to get back into why I want the series will we dive into the 2024 NHL eligible prospects and discuss what they are what they could be whether or not you and your favorite team should be interested
In them and where they can go in the draft last time we made a video talking about a guy who was rising and I kind of Di diverted from the formula a little bit you know I said instead of going over the top guys in order let’s try to
Just follow the conversation you know see what names are popping up and make our videos week by week according to the sentiment of the fans and that is exactly what we’re continuing to do here in episode 4 of season what is it season 8 now of why I want today we are heading
Over to the University of Denver Pioneers and talking about a guy whose respect amongst the na shell scouting community and draft rankings may not just be there yet this is zeve buam a guy whose name if you’re a Red Wings fan Probably sounds a bit familiar because
Yes he does have a brother his name is Shy buam who happens to be a Detroit Red Wings Prospect but enough about Shai today we’re talking about ziv and his incredible Point production pace and skill set as a defenseman in the NCAA that is not getting as as much
Recognition as it should be Z buam is 18 years old and he was born in December of 2005 which is why he’s able to play in the NCAA right now he’s an okay to smaller Siz defenseman at 6 feet 183 left-handed guy and his draft projections are kind of all over the
Place he’s ranked as the 12th overall Consolidated guy so that’s kind of all the rankings combined into one Elite prospects themselves has him at number 18 daily face off at 11 the hockey news at 22 Bob Mackenzie at number 13 mckin at 16 button at 11 he’s ranked at 21st
By Dober but fifth overall by smart scouting what exactly is the situation here and why is there so much diversity well if we head over to his NCAA season playing for the University of Denver Pioneers Z buam as an 18-year-old freshman on the blue line has 32 points
In 22 games played he was also under a point per game for Team USA at the world juniors this season again as an 18-year-old guy in fact he just recently turned 18 so the majority of his point production and games played actually happened when he was only 17 and before
We get into his game I wanted to put into perspective just how gosh darn crazy that point production metric is 32 points in 22 games as an 18-year-old defender in the NCAA cam Robinson goes out there and helps us out with this here are some notable Point perame
Outputs by a freshman defenseman in NCAA history but all of these guys did this in their draft plus one Seasons Brian leech had a 1.27 lane Hudson had a 1.28 Adam Fox a 1.14 and Luke Hughes had a95 now every time we talk about Lane Hudson the Montreal Canadians Guy Brian
Leech’s name always ends up in the conversation too and it’s because of this stat that their point per game numbers in their NCAA freshman years were pretty similar and Lane Hudson ended up getting the edge but zeve buam is at a 145 the highest Mark in 40 years as a draft
Eligible this guy is outscoring what we had seen out of Adam Fox Luke Hughes and Brian leech but he’s doing it at a year younger compared to all those other guys just the raw Hardo production he’s putting himself in a league of his own if you go over to the NCAA and you
Search by alltime season Point per game metrics and you go by u19 defenseman which you know boam technically is because he’s already 18 you’ll see that out of every modernday NHL player zeve buam has bested them all the only guys that are higher than him in the point
Production race for you9 points per game are all older guys in fact there’s a rightwing listed on here too I don’t know why he’s on here but zeve buam is out producing Lane Hudson Brian leech Adam Fox you’ve got Zach rinsky Luke Hughes kandre Miller Jack Johnson so
Many names that zeve buam has bested out and even Byron Bader’s model goes out there and says that hey he’s the highest producing College freshman defenseman in modern history I’d probably take him higher in 13th overall this was in response to Bob MacKenzie’s TSN draft ranking show where they had buo him in
The 13th overall spot as you know is pretty self-explanatory there also is a player comparison done with buam and Brian leech it’s very intriguing but Boo’s draft eligible numbers are so much better than Brian leech’s it’s literally doubled what Lee was when he was a draft
Eligible guy now as to how he’s able to get these points let’s open up a conversation about that I would think that he would be projected in the top 10 or even top five with those Point totals Honey Bunches of votes says in response to the cam Robinson tweet we looked at
Earlier but it looks like he’s in the 15 to20 range is there a knock on him cam replies boam is not big and he’s not an elite skater overall he’s got great elusiveness though the amount of production doesn’t really paint a realistic picture of his future upside either still it’s been a tremendous
Draft year for him so far and when it comes to buam that’s the main thing you’ll note when people talk about his game this is what David sod said on dber prospects back in November courtesy of my NHL draft.com Boo’s trademark Mobility is as present as ever and is
Now employing multiple layers of deception on multiple levels whether it’s his evasiveness in transition or his speed in the rush very little can keep buo him from where he wants to go on the ice Sam Constantino in his not a Scouting Report Scouting Report goes out
There and says that boam is a steady toay Defender who can quickly process his best breakout option and execute it swiftly to become part of the rush meanwhile you have Scott wheeler of the Athletics saying that boam is a plus level skater who plays an extremely involved game in all three zones whether
That’s activating into the rush or off the point shaking pressure on exits or across the Blue Line working in and out on give and goes or playing tight gaps against the rush he’s a very busy player on both sides of the puck and he gets in and out of his Transitions and footwork
So quickly that he can play that style and then you have yourselves Cory prman who earlier in November said that boam is a strong enough skater to be able to skate pucks out of trouble his defense is good enough that the Amire level but he isn’t that physically imposing and
Whether he can make a lot of nhls soon will be a debate so for Boo this is a guy who based off of the production you would assume he’s like going to be a number one caliber Defender but he doesn’t have that same Quinn Hughes kale marar skating he’s got some good
Elusiveness which will help him out but as we all know based in today’s NHL Mobility is such a big important part as to how defensemen are able to produce points that unless Z boam enters another Gear with his Edge work and his pacing we may not see him become a number one
Absolute Pinnacle Peak of the NHL kind of guy but if we’re rounding things out at let’s say a top power play number two guy while also getting maybe 40 to 50 points in a year I don’t think that’s out of the question here in fact those hockey smarts can carry him to further
And Beyond because there’s an article actually from Tony Ferrari from December 2nd talking about how boo may be the 2024 draft most unheard of top defenseman Ferrari says there may not be a more well-rounded and intelligent dman in the entire 2024 class than boam this
Is what Tony has to say boam isn’t a flashy defender in the way that kale marar or Quinn Hughes are but he uses his mobility in a way that makes him consistently effective he is constantly looking to move laterally and then exploit Lanes when they present themselves whether he is driving into
The slot with the buck or looking to perent himself as a passing option boam is constantly in motion he can handle a puck in his forehand or backhand protect the puck as the defender closes in and maintain awareness and vision to make a play in traffic boam gets to the middle
Of the ice to shoot often getting into the slot to generate High danger chances he rarely wastes opportunities by shooting from out wider than the faceoff dots and high in the offensive zone the ability to create space and evade pressure at the point is an important trait for any Defender looking to impact
The offensive side of the game and it’s an area where boam subtly excels he sets up opponents by fainting a stride to one side and then shift his way to quickly accelerate the other way his Puck handling isn’t flashy with noticeable deakes but he has displayed this ability
To open the blade of his stick to indicate his plans on going in One Direction before attacking the opponent’s heels once they make their move he is a very deceptive skater and I’ll leave a link in the description if you want to read more because this is
Only like maybe 10% of the actual piece Ferrari does a really good Deep dive into Boo’s game we just don’t have too much time to go out there and discuss all of it so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below how do you you feel about arguably the top scoring
Defenseman relative to his age in the modern NCAA scene today and his entire draft stock heading into the 2024 draft he’s ranked to go in the 15 16 range but depending on who you ask based off of his production based off of his deception in the ozone he may go as high
As maybe number five number six maybe even breaking into the top five this is a guy who’s got some legit NHL potential and his numbers have super preceded the likes of many other superstars already in the game today so if you’re a fan of Z boam if you’re a fan of the Denver
Pioneers and the NCAA what are your thoughts on how he’s played so far what are your thoughts on where he’s going to go in the draft and do you think your favorite NHL team should take a chance on boo him let me know thoughts in the comments section below I hope you
Enjoyed this voll 99 and Bye

Love the name
How about Seattle, he can develop with Ryker Evans in Coachella Valley.
If the canucks end up with one of the last picks in the first round, I honestly think Henry Mews would be a great pickup. He's got a really well rounded game and a really responsible RH offensive defenseman
Hey Lego can you please make a video on the resurgence of Kasimir Kaskisuo and how he’s found his way to crushing it in the AHL after playing with Toronto and Nashville
Really want him to drop to the sharks 1st round pick from the PEN’s… if we end up getting the 3rd or 4th overall I’d be happy with him there too.
Lane Hutson had 48 points as a freshman?
who the hell calls their kid zeev lol
anyway this guy is a bum, he plays in the weakest division against garbage players that's why he is a 1.45 and not ranked higher lol
As a Red Wings fan, I wish we could've drafted him.
i love du
