Hey cats head midso Bud here today I have a new episode for you of running shoe yay or nay this is a series where I delve into some forthcoming running shoes set to be released in 2024 and let you know if I’m going to pick up a pair

Of them for review or not it’s not me saying the shoe is trash or treasure I can’t know that until I truly get the shoe in hand it could be that another shoe tuber can simply do the shoes more Justice than I well there might be a

Particular pair that are going to fit really well into my shoe rotation okay made that very clear let’s get to It thanks for joining me on the channel it is always appreciated do support the channel if you can on a more ad hoc basis by giving us a super thanks or perhaps even joining as a member do though ensure you hit that subscribe button and give this video a thumbs up

Like you know it makes sense Dan a I got four shoes to check out for you today let’s get into it with shoe number one we kick off today’s episode with a new model from Hoka this is the CEO X1 so we kind of putting together loads of

Different Hoka shoe models here the CEO road which was that sort of very low stack responsive shoe there was the Mac X as well which was a sort of Middle Ground I guess between a more daily use shoe and perhaps a slight stability nod throwing all that together in with a bit

Of the rocket X formula as well perhaps we have something that’s along the lines of a Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro hoker will overblown stack there and loads of the midsole foam cut out perhaps H could going for some significant weight reduction here on this model though when

You inspect the midsole a little bit further it does appear the foam creeps up around the back of the foot a little so it’s not all underneath the foot in the base there does also seem to be a similar thing going on there in the

Lateral side of the toe box as well I think this is still going to be a race legal shoe with the sample size at 40 mm and I expect some similar bounce to what we found in the rocket X2 with all that cutout material from the heel quite cool

To see the split midsole returning here in shoes like the Puma fastar and the tempo next per reports on this one are that is that same foam that they’ve utilized within the rocket X2 it’s very squashy very compressive and soft so this one could be a mega light but

Cushioned option there’s a serious heel bevel there which is why I mentioned the Muno wave Rebellion Pro very similar in design of course Hoka we’re always into the rocker designs though the lateral side of the he in this case seems to be raised up quite a bit like the Adidas

Models that we’ve seen of recent years at $300 though which is the reported price of this new model is going to have to really hit the spot in the upper department and some hoker shoes over the last few years for me have been a bit of

A let down in that area I think I need more info on the CEO X1 before I spam out 300 Earth credits so for the time being at least it’s a nay for for me on this quite interesting looking Beast shoe two upcoming for the trail Enthusiast the second version of Nike

Zigama shoe hopefully this one will feel a little bit more like it’s got zoomx in the midsole cuz the first version was just sorely lacking in that department we again have the CR2 carrier foam around that very soft zoomx material though I did feel that the last version

The combination of the Foams there just nullified any of the nice feelings that we experienced in a similar design shoe the Vero 16 all indications here are the last used for the new version of the zigama is going to be somewhat altered to accommodate the foot a little bit

More for those longer distance events let’s not forget this is very much an ultra aimed shoe so if you’re going to be running loads and loads of Miles perhaps at a slightly slower speed maybe the zigama 2 could be right up your street or your Mountain at least this

Time around the swo of teamed up with viam to offer a much better outsole design we have to Mega grip rubber here the last version of the shoe really wasn’t great in terms of traction I did sell that shoe on in the end I just had no need for it whatsoever wasn’t very

Exciting shoe to running the weight is reported to be around 320 G for US men’s 10 they reckon that this 36 mm of heel stack in the sample size I certainly had over 40 in the original version of the shoe but with that type of weight it’s

Going to be a very Hefty shoe in my size I think if you go to Tim gross’s size it’s just going to be a brick it’s what people always say oh well you know bigger people they’re going to be able to deal with the shoe weight a bit more

I’m quite a thin guy you know and if I put a brick shoe on such as the zigama original it just isn’t inspiring in the slightest I think there were a niche band of people out there that really like the zagam and it worked for them and that’s great but that shoe certainly

Wasn’t for me it’s for a very specific Runner so it’s going to stay off my radar there’s a load of other shoe tubers that will do this one way way more Justice than I will the colorways pretty Dreadful I have to say it’s almost like they’ve used a pin the tail

On the donkey type thing here maybe a random Color Picker in the Nike lab who comes up with some of this stuff anyway onwards and upwards it’s nay on the zig too from Nike lots of other people will get a lot more out of that shoe than I

Will shoe three next up we’re talking about the Pegasus 41 the Nike Pegasus always a very popular model and I get a lot of questions and requests for review on it looks like we have some changed up phone this time around so it’s quite a different design from the last one big

Talking point here is that the new Nike foam the latest iteration of this shoe will be react X so that means two things really Nike are making some attempts to update the shoe and bring it into 2024 the react phone we had in the previous ones was long lasting but somewhat

Uninspiring and a little bit firm for some people though I do think with the react X being a little bit lighter that we’re going to get more stack in the Pegasus 41 over the 40 the days really are gone of daily options with around 24

Mm of heel stack in the sample size I reckon Nike are going to increase the heel stack by maybe even about 4 mm this time around I think that’ll bring the Pegasus more in line with models like pummer velocity Nitro 3 or even saky ride 17 reactor X does appear to be a

Touch lighter and of course there’s not always that much to the Pegasus upper so I’ll be very keen to see just how much nimbler it makes this version of Nike’s daily do- it or shoe the reports are that there is still a 4ot and Heel Air

Section in the midsole of the shoe I think that will mean that the shoe will last the test of time and it won’t bottom out quite so badly as some foam only midso shoes everything points to an April 2024 release on the Pegasus 41 it’s such a popular model I get

Inundated with questions on these even now I keep getting questions on the Pegasus 40 it’s one of the most watched videos from last year I think there’s enough changes here in the Pegasus 41 to make it a sort of worthy review I think it’s worth documenting and people will

Be interested in it so I’m going to say it’s a yay this time around there’s just enough changes there to Warrant it one little worry there is that huge amount of foam spilling out the end of the midsole there in the heel not sure why Nike is so obsessed with doing that all

The time doesn’t seem to give any real advantage to any of their models whatsoever I mean nobody lands like that do they on their heel I suggest if you did that too often you’d probably end up in hospital okay shoe four last one up for today soon to be released in fact on

The 1st of February here in the UK is the New Balance fuel cell SC Elite version 4 lots of viewers have been asking me if I’m going to check this one out let’s delve deeper something puts me off this one straight away New Balance are asking 260 quid for this shoe and

It’s clocking in at 237 G or 8.4 oz in the sample size now the vaporfly 3 in my size is that weight so that makes this one one of the more Hefty Super Shoes that we’re going to see in 2024 you can always add on maybe another like 25 G or

So so yeah it’s going to make this one that little bit more Hefty on foot and when you consider this is a high-end race offering just seems a bit odd there’s lots of peber based foam in the midsole of the SC Elite version 4 but I

Think if you’re going to price it like this very aggressively 25 quid less than the alphafly 3 yeah you got to be pretty sure of yourself I mean you can pick up discounted pairs of the vaporfly 3 for way less than this so it’s A Hard Sell there’s quite a significant rocker here

In the 4ot area of the Elite 4 lots of foam back in the rear of the shoe which protrudes again clear past that foot bed the upper here though has some additional eyelets than we’ve seen on previous versions of the SC Elite I think that’s no doubt going to welcome

Some fans who found it difficult to get a good lockdown in the previous version of the shoe New Balance seem to do this in quite a number of their models over the last few years I remember finding it quite hard to dial in the 1080 v11 I

Think it was just not enough eyelets towards the toe box end of the shoe we have that midsole carving to minimize some weight and a new outsole pattern which wasn’t the best on previous versions the V1 though was absolutely fantastic the Mido may be the softest

Known to man woman or beast but we have loads of contenders like that right now and they don’t cost 260 quid not sure why they seem to carry such a premium at the moment New Balance models are just really expensive the SC Pacer for example 1080 v13 I think if I’m going to

Test out anything from New Balance this year i’ probably be more keen to look at the SC Pacer V2 or even the additional stack on the rebel V4 that one looks really exciting this one’s just not speaking to me really apart from the Cyber Punk style looks so it’s said nay

On the seite version 4 from New Balance it’s just too costly a gamble with lower stack Super Shoes like the Tumi sen10 working way better for me right now looking at the types of training that I’m doing as well I just not sure if I need all that stack suddenly those

Discounted pairs of the alphafly 2 seem really good value okay that’s all four shoes in today’s yay or nay let me know your thoughts and opinions on these models down in the comments quick musical interlude for you I’ve been listening to a beautiful song by Monon Butler which is called Blue this was

Released on their 2002 album bring it back I think I really love this song due to the fact it’s been so gray and gloomy recently here in the UK there’s been very little blue sky up there we’ve had a period of really cold weather here it’s made training quite hard I’ve been

Going out for some shorter sessions just trying to get a few miles under my belt where I can some beautiful acoustic guitar playing on this track and a fantastic vocal performance from David mcalmont sounds very intimate I suppose he sounds like he could be right in

Front of you not too many effects on his voice the production nice and simple just the key component parts there make for an absolutely beautiful very heartwarming song I suppose David MC sort of talking about how he wants all the Browns and Grays to disappear and

The light to come back he going to like lift everybody in the city I think that’s very much how people feel right now fantastic song Blue by macmart and Butler thanks for tuning in people hope you enjoyed Today’s Show remember to hit that subscribe button and give this

Video a thumbs up like it really does help out my name is Ed bud and I’ll be Seeing

  1. you make a positive remark about the discounted AF2 … really? can I trust my ears? And I thought you loathe that shoe … 😏

  2. That Hoka feels like a pretty "reactive" design. Like; "-Let's copy what everyone else is doing, and throw something together for 2024"
The Puma Fast-R 2 is next on my shopping list. Now that's a shoe! 🙂

  3. I will stick with the NB SC elite v3. NB doing the one-two punch increasing weight and price.at the same time. Yeah the Pacer might shine. The v3 gets better and better as the upper breaks in.

  4. I tried the Cielo X1, feels pretty insane. Similar to Alpha 3. Very soft and kind of wobbly. It's surprisingly guided in the shape. It's definitely the thickest in the midfoot, similar to Mizuno Rebellion Pro.

  5. Peg 41, big yes!
SC Elite 4, nay. More interested in the Pacer 2!
Zegama, nay. But Peg trail is a maybe.

  6. You should definitely try the new 880v14! Tested it at work, feels super nice! 299grams in US12, nimble and "athletic"-feeling. It's also 29/21 mm stack! Would love your take on it.

  7. The React X foam is quite heavier than the regular React foam, so I don't expect them to be lighter than the previous 40 model. I like sneakers with react foam, perhaps it’s stiffer, that’s its peculiarity. Apparently training sneakers do not need light foam, but better cushioning, but this is not always the case 🤷🏻‍♂️ They have strange changes, but it’s good that they transition smoothly. The Pegasus lacks a well-ventilated mesh like the Trail4. In road ones it is denser and this is bad. In my opinion.

  8. I loved the React X cushioning and that makes me prefer my Infinity Run 4 over my Invincible 3. The React X is not as bouncy and lightweight as the ZoomX, but I preferred the comfortable cushioning with a nice bounce. The Infinity Run 4 's cushioning is what remembers me more of the FF Blast * from my retired Gel-Nimbus 25, the most comfortable shoes.of 2023.
Can't wait to try the Pegasus 41 ! But I'm still using the Peg 40 …what a great shoes .

  9. Totally agree about Nike’s styling. Why have ridiculous overhangs at the back? They just look, well, ridiculous!

  10. Looking forward to the Pegasus 41. I thought the React foam on both the 39 and 40 was too stiff. I liked ReactX on the Infinity Run 4, so I have high hopes that the Pegasus 41 will be better than either the 39 or 40. That and Pegasus models are always quick to get discounted.

  11. I've had the SC Elite on foot and was able to run around the store I was in and it was really nice. Granted this might be skewed because in the US it's $250 like the majority of other shoes but I don't think it would be a bad option for race day. It is very much a standard racing shoe though (IMO), energy return feels great, but in the era that we are in where almost everyone has done a standard rockered PEBA based shoe it doesn't strike me as all that different enough to shell out the money for. I'd rather pay the difference and get something that offers a something different (Rebellion Pros geometry, air zoom in the Alphafly, crazy rocker in the Endorphin Elite, bonkers looking FAST-R2 etc). Ceilo X1 looks like Hoka just took a quality from most of the other big shoes and meshed it into one, which could be good but if $300 is the price of that thing you can count me out. Rather get another Prime X

  12. That Hoka is a firm Yay for me. It looks crazy! Somewhat reminds me of a mashup of the Endorphin Elite and Mizuno Wave Rebellion.
I read that it releases early February for the US Olympic Trials Marathon. But no idea if that info is reliable.

  13. Thanks for the video Edd. All Nays for me especially at those prices. I'm not that rich. Might wait for Asics and Puma's new marathon shoes when they drop before the Olympics.

  14. Hi Edd! I agree with you on the New Balance SC Elite. I'm concerned NB may have messed up the SC Pacer V2 along similar lines. I know you didn't care for the current SC Pacer but my experience with it was very positive. If the V2 is just a Takumi Sen 10 competitor, well, NB has to do better than that. Not everyone wants high and/or higher stack.

  15. NB Rebel v4 is also coming up on 1 March. It will be lighter than RC Elite less than 200 grams in my US9), and the midsole will be made from Pebax – overall the best everyday to marathon – do it all shoe.

  16. Edd, do you take music suggestions? Been getting into a band from the early 90s shoegaze era that you might have heard of: Swervedriver. Beautiful multilayered guitar lines.

  17. peg41 look aint the one, i'll wait for the discount window :P, zegama2 look slick tho, just hope they aint silly usa2uk price conversion

  18. Actually laughed out loud by myself in my apt when you said Nike did pin the tail on the donkey to pick the colorway of the Z2 😂 shit was hilarious and true.

I started running trails last summer and so far I’m not sure I like the higher stack, softer, bouncier foams. I rolled my ankle twice in the Novablast 3 Trail.

Maybe Nike meant for zoom X to not feel like zoom x in that shoe.

  19. Nike should drop React or any version of it and just concentrate on ZoomX. At this point in time it's not that different anymore from their old Lunarlon foam.🤪😢🦖🦕

  20. I'm gonna get a pair of running shoes next month. Casual for orange theory. I don't want them to look like a rocket ship. I got hokas but returned cause the heel was so fricken huge they didn't fit in the rowing machine lol

  21. Why on earth do people still buy the Pegasus? It’s literally the most uninspiring midsole. 10 years ago it would get a pass mark but not today!

  22. The hoka x1 looks like a aggressive max stack Adios pro 2 or Prime X to me. Nike need to seriously up their game in 2024. Only interested in their race shoes now. Ditched their daily and speed offerings for Reebok, Adidas and saucony shoes!

  23. So Pegasus 41 is more or less the same shoe as Pegasus 37 🤔? Oh, wait! It's not React in the midsole, it's now React X.

  24. Never understood the Pegasus. I've run a good 1,000km in a Pegasus, and while a lot of reviews use terms like "Solid daily trainer" or "Nike's workhorse", terms like "uninspiring" and "boring" are used within the same breath. I enjoyed the durability, but I prefer my runs being fun?

  25. Peg 39s were my first ever running shoes from your recommendation which I got at 85$, retired to everyday walking shoes after 800kms of running and then managed to get the 40 as replacement daily trainer last month for $40. I cant wait to see what the 41 has to offer this time around.

  26. I wore Hokas from 2013 – 2019 (original Carbon X was a great shoe I thought) and was excited about the Rocket X 2, but it was a dud for me. The Cielo X1 looks to be a better marathon training shoe and maybe even a race day shoe too. I'm definitely going to order a pair, though can't guarantee I'll keep them. Also, the bootie upper on the New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Elite v3 is terrible (IMO). The V4 is certainly a step in the right direction and will also give those a try. Still trying to find a replacement for the original Prime X….

  27. I suspect the SC Elite is so clunky because it's made to last an entire season. Most of the "super shoes" won't last the 300-500 miles of a training/racing season (using them for race-pace workouts as well as races). So, it may be the smartest economical choice; buying one pair instead of 2-3 pairs of the other "super shoes". This is just a guess of course, but an educated one, since I have over 200 miles on RC Elite-2 and they look/feel like they have another 200 left in them.

  28. I loved the Pegasus 39 but skipped the 40. I cant wait for how the 41 will be with the react X. I own the infinity run4 and its.. something haha its good
