Degrees to to 68 and 72 but it’s all good man it’s also foggy all over the United States where this fog come from is like Thanos coming or something maybe are we foggy today no I don’t think so mostly just over it yeah it was cloudy driving in but it wasn’t anything crazy

Fog in Denver is pretty rare yeah usually snow snow that blocks your view uh all right on we uh have a few things we got to get your take on here all right yesterday we uh saw that some NCAA violations came down that Colorado admitted to uh we read through them all

They’re all extremely minor just ridiculous NCAA stuff but actually just funny they are actually really just funny what was your take on the whole thing uh my take on it was just that they’re funny uh it’s amazing some of the rules that the NCAA has in place I

Think that the the fans when you see that there was a self-reporting violation you know everybody’s like oh my god what happened what are we doing we’ve lost institutional control and then you see one of them is you know you can’t have Kanani in a uniform lined up

Against somebody like come on man even if that person has been retired from football for many years and had a jacked up foot at the time even run if he wanted to yeah yeah and and and then what was the other uh you had someone who’s not teaching yoga

Yeah come on much to do about nothing man self-reported you know no no major uh infractions thereby no major punishments so it’s just one of those things that happens in programs literally Across the Nation and that’s why when you become aware of them you self-report I think coach Hart was at a

High school game and took a picture with a kid uh you know because the guy asked for the picture and the next day realized hey maybe there something I need to tell somebody so it was just little stuff like that and I know when people see the headlines they see

Colorado they see coach Prime they see NCAA violations like oh we got him no you don’t no you don’t and in the end this is a classic case of only no one would ever hear about it unless the microscope was on Colorado uh and it and it’s happen happening

Everywhere people are you know self-reporting every single year as a as a way to kind of show the NCAA that they have control over what’s going on and you know people make these mistakes because the rule book is so dense um but if it weren’t for the fact that

Colorado any and everything that happens around the program is newsworthy no one would have ever even heard about this I agree and if you would go to the NCAA site and look at all the other schools who self-reported something you know you you would spend the night going through

It uh it’s just that when it’s Colorado and Coach prime it becomes uh you know newsworthy and so let me let me let me tell you about the nuances so you can have a player who’s like visiting like Corman was at that time he can put on a

Uniform and he can get in a football stance but it has to be like in the hallway what that we call the Thunders shoot you know he can’t do it like on the field and somebody else with him or it looks like you’re practicing right if

Anyone knew of Coach Prime with the day that picture was taken and the status of his foot you know damn well they weren’t doing drills but it’s that same picture you know for the people who’ve been on the field and in the Thunders shoot that same picture literally 20 yards to the

Left would be fine but it was it was on the grass and so it looks like you’re simulating uh practice and you can’t do that but it it’s just little things like that man I don’t think that this is a major issue at all or major concern at

All no it shouldn’t be a major concern um what I don’t understand is why make rules that you can’t police y like which one specifically just like that one so the whole the whole point of that rule is not taking pictures the whole point of that rule is

They don’t want teams to like work players out right when they come out and like you know put them on the field which personally I feel like you should be able to do it’ be great um but you’re not allowed to do that how would you

Ever know Colorado could have run a full practice in the indoor practice facility that day and had Corman playing left corner Corner yeah and no one in the world would have ever known as long as you know no one took a picture or posted so like there’s so many of the unity

Rules that’s why you see these self-reported violations NCAA knows they can’t police them they also know that no one isn’t breaking any rules because there’s so many of them so you you’re like left you have to self report so they’re not that they’re not looking and

Saying hey what’s going on um when I was a kid you know we uh we had a family friend who was a police officer and it was like we as him like is there a quota on how many tickets you have to give out he’s like no but if you gave out zero

Tickets your boss would be like you’re clearly not doing your job because there’s always someone speeding somewhere and it’s the same thing here it’s like the NCAA is like you didn’t self-report anything are you even paying attention maybe we need to come take a look but there’s so many rules in there

That cannot be policed I agree with you RK and and you look at the coachart situation you know you air on the side of someone Tweeting or posting and saying hey linebacker coach at Colorado’s [ __ ] he wouldn’t take a picture with my son you know and

You know all he did was took a picture with the kid it’s not like they were recruiting and come and dinner fly let’s get on the private jet and go to Boulder I mean it was just a kid asked for a picture uh but you self-report that kind

Of thing but it’s just like you said AR I agree I mean it’s a phone book of rule books and a lot of it is unenforcable and when programs are doing the due diligence like coach Prime is when you catch that you did you voluntarily turn

It in and to go back to your point about you know they should be able to work kids out or whatever on the field or something like we’re already in like this weird Middle Ground where we’re like leaving amateurism and becoming like a semiprofessional slash completely professional sport like they do that

Stuff in the NFL the fact that we like you can’t have a guy like run or something like just to make sure he’s healthy like you don’t know what’s kind of really what you’re buying there I guess yeah I mean so true now that you’re going to pay you know exactly

$500,000 for a backup lineman right um you should be able to take a look at at how they look on the field um I actually don’t I shouldn’t implicate anyone here but I’ve heard some stories from a team that had basketball visitors play basketball uh and like some legendary

Stories of players who want went on to the NBA and stuff like like oh dude this dude came in at 17 years old we had open gym and he dropped 50 on us you know like so it’s not like it doesn’t happen right yeah I just I just think you know

Arkade that you have to look what what you just touched on uh your early comment you got to look at the intent you know the intent is to get a a picture of a guy in the uniform you know so he can put on his social media uh and

So that you know you can have you know record of your official visit that kind of thing uh and and the fact that a coach or a potential or future or even another recruit that’s on the same visit can’t stand across from you in the picture because it looks like you were

Practicing when clearly you weren’t practicing it was just a picture so you you can’t you can’t even pose for pictures you know with with other people so it I I would need the people out to understand that’s the kind of thing that was self-reported uh and that’s the kind

What’s the latest that you can share I remember this press conference from years ago with Aaron roders when they thought the wheels were coming off and he said r e l a x and then they went on to come to Cowboy Stadium and beat us so I’m saying relax coach Prime knows what

He’s doing there’s still a lot of moving Parts out there uh I just as much as I believe three weeks ago and four or five weeks ago that everyone is going to be blown away with the candidate when announced uh I’m I’m trusting and believe in Prime man nothing has changed

A lot of times these guys were involved in these negotiations and you know now man believe it or not to fans out there you know coaches have agents it’s it’s it’s it’s more than just a one-on-one conversation these days and then the real good one guess what else they have

Other offers you know so uh as the NFL shakes Loose as as coaching uh is moving around you know who knew two weeks ago Jake that Harbaugh was leaving and the shakeup is going to do that staff so you have all these dominoes in that industry

But it won’t be long before we have our DC announced and uh the defense will be much improved because of it you have a guess on when we might know you know I’m I’m thinking late by by late next week early week after because once we start really

Getting in the you know strength and conditioning and then in February you can have some offense in defensive meetings I think it’ll be done by then okay all right I mean I think it’s gotten to the point now where no one has any choice but to relax yeah what are we supposed to

Do uh like you know you can’t Panic about it every day uh there was I think a lot of people who did Panic at one point and like you just can’t keep that up it’s just not a pace that you can no you can stay on on a day-to-day basis so

Uh you got to trust in coach Prime you got to trust in his Network the escalator is a steady Pace to the top it is true it is true so um yeah and I’ll say I’ll say this guys and this is not you know you know some bullet point off

Off of a talking point spreadsheet or something this is just just real football real calendar if you were to have any window in a 12 month period that you didn’t have a DC name this is the window you would want it to be because there is literally no install no

No defensive meetings taking place you know no measurements of who’s going to play in what position this is the window of time you know and y’all feel free to run this back if this happen if we go into April and we ain’t got a DC okay

Hit the paint any but because now we’re practicing but like right now if you had to pick a day you know uh uh late January to the first week of faor and not have a coordinator in place there’s a lot of other teams around the country

Man who have done uh exemplary things in college football with their Seasons they still don’t have their full staff in place as well so I wouldn’t panic yet like this this is the time to not worry well yesterday’s uh I think it was wall off for Rich of people I can’t remember

Which one but Trevor Woods was talking to I think it was Darius um and he mentioned you know we don’t have a DC right now but he said you know if you need a coach watching over you to make sure you’re doing your work then you’re basically he pretty much said

You’re not really built for it then like you shouldn’t need to have someone watching over you to make sure you’re doing what you have to do on a day-to-day basis especially as un said this time of the year when it’s really just about working out trying to get

Stuff in order so that when football does happen you’re just ready to go full speed into that totally I mean the great ones do it when no one’s watching because they’re doing for themselves shout out to Trevor Woods for that comment man I missed that that that is

Spot damn on you know you got the strength and conditioning staff you know coach Mo uh and his guys uh uh standing over him motivating that kind of thing and of course you have position coaches even head coach Meandering around watching the workouts but there’s no instruction or anything taking place and

So like Trevor said man if if you’re on the defense with Colorado and you ain’t giving it your All In Coach Mo’s work workout room because we don’t have a DC you’re probably transferring after this spring game amen speaking of getting the work in did you see the video I think that

Coach Rey has posted of Travis working Tris today yeah bro he’s doing those hurdles with like broad jumps it looks like he’s jumping on a trampoline I I doesn’t make sense how he gets so high up he’s literally launching yeah it’s absurd it is and I take this man when

You talk about just leaping ability I I’m going Travis number one but when you scale it that damn Jimmy horn Jr man he has got some pops like it it is back when Mugsy BS or or SP web was Dunk Contest you know these other guys are

Doing it about Nate Robinson yeah yeah yes like come on man like Travis and Jimmy they can get up and go get the ball well I think Jimmy came in at a 39 in vert I think so that’s like top-of-the Line NFL combine numbers yeah for sure and I would venture to guess

Travis is higher than that from what we saw today I wouldn’t be surprised yeah insane um I think I’ve seen some real growth from Travis though just as a leader mostly as a vocal leader especially when you look back at the you know the Marine Corps workout how he’s

Just leading everyone kind of dictating the pace I feels like Travis is just kind of ascending altogether I’ve never seen anything like it he did that whole workout again we saw him do it after the Sprints mhm and then uh someone went over and interviewed him right after and he

Wasn’t even gas then he does the military workout and he’s not sweating and he’s not gasping for air how is that possible but everybody got mad at me when I said Travis could go to a game and not miss anything when he went to the Nuggets game you know this guy can

Roll out of bed he’s ready to go man he is a phenomenal athlete I would say there’s probably not a better as far as conditioning goes there’s not a better athlete in college sports not just College Football in college sports I don’t disagree I don’t disagree

I I truly cannot wait to see him on the field again um with that on you know we saw the Marine Corps workout coach Prime has kind of done these things before just your thoughts on how benefit that is for the team not only physically but just you know mentally emotionally off the

Field what it means to be tighter as brothers yeah I think it’s just that Jake I I don’t think that when you have as coach Mo calls a chaos day uh when you have those chaos workouts I don’t think it has anything to do with your individual cardiovascular strength your

Individual muscle strength getting stronger it is all about bringing a team close together because you’re working out as units and you challenge each other you got to be there to uplift each other that’s one of those kind of workouts that just purely designed to bring the team closer together again

Something you don’t have to have a DC in the building to accomplish uh and so when you see these guys go through that rigor workout with the Marine Corps with the coaches standing over them and one of the things you want to look for on a

Team and it starts to happen right about now through the spring game you want to have a player Le team you want to have to see leaders on the team emerge vocally you know demanding things because here here’s the deal guys if they’re only doing what the coaches

Say do and they’re not holding each other accountable it means that we don’t have leaders and it means just locker room is just running them up because no one if you’re not holding somebody accountable it’s because you don’t want to be held accountable so no one’s saying pick up that sock because your

Damn sock is on the ground you know and so these guys are going through these little things right now and getting tougher and tougher and it’s just January you know January is coming to a close but you can see even the new guys look like they’ve been there six months y

100% um you mentioned Herman Smith last time you were on the show you said he was here just what can you tell us about him as a person and as a player uh quality human being man you know once his once he gets settled his sense of humor starts to come out like

He he is uh he’s a notch or two below Shiloh but he’s got some Shiloh in him as far as you know running that mouth uh and I think he’s going to have a bigger impact on special teams that’s not to say he’s not going to get out there on the second

But you know when you got Shiloh and Trevor out there and the guys who are coming in the corner as he’s working his way into game reps his impact is really going to be felt on special teams he is a hard hitter he got interceptions while at Jackson State and also on special

Teams you know call some fumbles uh and recover the fumble after hitting the guy so uh he’s a workaholic man big body kid strong kid uh you know out of San Diego went to Jackson State and then did this past season I think was it Idaho or Iowa

I get mixed up I think was Idaho Idaho state yeah Idaho State and now he’s reunited with Coach Mattis and Coach Prime so he knows the system knows the players knows what these the head coach and the position coach expect so it’s not going to take him a long time to to

Really get ingrain with the rest of the guys because he knows what coach matys expects uh he knows what coach Trevor expects because he was at Jackson State as well uh and and he’s one of those guys man get this because of his size like Trevor was doing and he’s a little

Bigger than Trevor he can go down and play linebacker on you know so I wouldn’t be surprised if you see him you know f a void in that lb room in some schemes once once we get that get to that part of the Season all right um coach Prime is not

Afraid to rank his favorite children uh as they stand uh so I’m going to uh have Uncle Neely rank his favorite nephews we did our by we did our my guys draft yesterday we each picked Five Guys that we’re putting our stamp on that’s my guy

This year uh so I won’t make you pick against our picks give us your five my guys 2024 my guys 2024 now I’m GNA do something that you guys probably didn’t do I’m GNA slide uh uh qb1 and Travis to the side okay we technically did that we did I we did

This last year around this time and we those guys were on the table I drafted shador first he drafted Travis first so this year we just called it like team shador team Travis there you go that’s why I’m headed so I I those two they’re they’re off the table because they’re

Automatically on the table so give me uh in no particular order of five give me Tyler Brown that’s going to be one of my favorites uh give me Shiloh that’s going to be uh two give me Jimmy Horn uh receiver three man linebacker room is so up in the air

But I’m going to go with Bentley just off damn heart yeah uh the guy is is killing in the weight room and his his just work ethic and intensity already so we got Tyler Shiloh Jimmy Bentley huh you know dline I just don’t know I

Don’t know yet uh we’re going to see so let me go with one of the new guys on uh on offensive line let me go with khil Benson nice nice That’s a good list not too much overlap no I had Shiloh you did um Tyler and Jimmy didn’t go this time

Yep they were on last year’s teams uh so there you go all right that’s a good list know yeah let me let me shoot some holes in my list man uh Jimmy is my guy I just named him but our receiver room is loaded again y I picked lante

Wester you ain’t wrong you ain’t you ain’t crazy you know our receiver our secondary is loaded uh the only place I have a question mark and let me say this to the people out there watching it’s not a question mark relative to like doubting is relative to I don’t know the

Guy yet and that’s the defensive line because that room is is loaded and that that room is re-energized and refocused with bigger bodies so it’s going to be interesting to see you know how they Alpha Dog each other and who emerges uh I think right now the leader is Shane

Cox by default uh you know being the the second year here Colorado being an older guy in the room uh having the experience uh but it’s I’m interested to see as we get from now to April who’s going to fight for that spot of no this is my

Room I love it I love how uh our last episode of the year uh during the season you were recruiting Shane to come back I kind of thought we would get like an announcement or something from him but no he just showed up he’s like y I’m back to

Work it it reminded me of when Michael Jordan came back with that with with the with the press releases said I’m back yep exactly yeah I thought in this in this day of fanfare for college athletes I thought Shane would do that graphic or something too man but uh he just said no

I’m I’m back I’m here that though oh yeah you got to respect it and here’s one thing we got to understand man even we get to the end of Spring ball college football now guys you got to re-recruit your own team you just can’t assume someone staying with you or

Coming back if you want a guy you got to sit down and talk to him yep um you know you mentioned Jimmy horn as one of your guys and you mentioned how loaded this wide receivers room is I’m not going to ask you how you think it’s going to

Shake out because we’re just still so early but just with the combination of the two grad transfer guys all the guys we have coming back from last year and the new guys the younger guys who’ve been brought in it just seems like like it could be a bit crowded um do you

Think there’s a distinct advantage that someone like Jimmy horn has just being on the team from last year absolutely I do uh but I also think here’s the equalizer I think the equalizer is you got a new position coaching in Jason Phillips uh and so everybody has

Something to prove your your last year film was just at his last year and what’s going to be interesting to me is to see how these guys come together as a team through the strength and conditioning that coach MO is taking them through but also understand I’m here to take somebody’s job everybody

Can’t start and so you have to have this we’re all in this together we’re teammates kind of thing kumay y VI but you also got to have like hey man at the end of the day I’m trying to feed my family like I I got to get on that field

And so that’s what I want to see when we get into late March early April who’s going to start to separate themselves and be like no I’m getting on this damn field in August love it and it’s great if you can have you know Jimmy run a nine route and just take a

Left turn and go straight to the sideline and have you know lante Wester come out right you know and just like keep these guys fresh keep them cycled not feel like you can’t run you know backto back uh vertical routes because you don’t want to Tire your guy out too

Much right yeah yeah I agree with that one I think I think one of the things that Jimmy you know has upside is not just his experience he’s the only Jimmy on the team you know uh last year you had a couple of small slot receivers you

Know that could get out there you know with the gains has gone for example uh Jimmy to some degree is the only guy right that right now in that room that does what he does you know small guy that’s the yards have to catch a lot of

These other guys are you know uh bigger and and more down the field catching the ball so uh I I think your spot on know Jake I appreciate you helping me out and saying you’re not going to put me on the spot because it is way too early but but

Uh we got some damn talent in that room and I know qb1 is excited because he has the guys in front of him to now give him the time to let those guys get truly into those routes downfield can’t wait to see how it unfolds man um shout out to our friends
