Car dealers in Gibraltar feel the effects of Covid-19

With so many people confined to their homes due to the ongoing pandemic, roads around the world have seen a significant reduction in traffic.  And with less cause to drive, there has been a significant drop in car sales.  This week the BBC reported a 97% drop in sales in the UK last month compared to April of last year, and just 4,231 cars registered; the lowest monthly figure since 1946.

Car dealers in Gibraltar have also felt the pinch, and the Government has now announced the introduction of various measures intended to reduce vehicle usage going forwards.  We heard from CEO of Bassadone Motors, Kevin Jones, who spoke to GBC about the challenges and the changing landscape which the industry must contend with, but first we asked about the loss of revenue caused by Covid-19.
