Course Hey Barry what’s going on give everybody like a little intro about your career and what you’re up to now and what you what you’ve done yeah so I’ve been playing professionally since 2003 uh as you probably noticed I played in the US Open this last year as my first
Major which was pretty cool but I’ve been all over the world I’ve played almost every tour you can possibly imagine yeah and I’ve settled in Asia and had a pretty decent career the last 10 years over there on the Asian Tour on the Asian tour yep and I got my
Offseason here in Palm Springs and this is where I spend my time getting my offseason training getting my work in and uh just getting ready to start the 2024 season when he was made it into that major into the US Open at La Country Club he made national news
Because Barry had a very bad wrist injury and couldn’t play golf so he was driving in Uber in order to you know make money to live he came back and he actually then increased his ranking and and got back and better and became the first ever golfer sponsored by Uber Uber
Because they saw they saw that that story when I did hurt my wrist which was actually 2016 that’s when I really needed to get my body back in shape I needed to get super fit I needed to get really strong so if I feel like I’m going to fail I’m
Going to drop the weight but fail yeah if I can uh if I can make the turn I should be able to have the grip strength to maintain it Got it got it let’s go Baby yeah that’s do it your take your points and that’s when I met Anthony Spain and we’ve got everything strong as possible possible so I can get back on tour at a quick rate but also once I got that strength then we turn that into Power you want
You want to see the gun down oh yeah what’s up in a normal season like when you’re in season how often are you lifting heavy so we our goal is to get one strength workout in a week a week okay yeah and if I can get anything and
Your other workouts are like maintenance workouts yeah be like body prep so on tour on weekly tournaments we got to get in at least one workout on off weeks we want to get in three strength and power not the same thing no they’re different
So cuz I see a lot of strong guys out in the golf course that don’t hit it far yeah yeah and that and I think that’s the trans the transgression we’ve seen with golf uh Power and mobility and strength is the fact that you know you
Got to have a strong engine but then you have to train that engine to be fast but I think Anthony and quite a few of the other trainers are a bit of ahead of the curve and that’s where I’ve been able to find some of this extra power and I’ve
Gotten longer as I’ve gotten older so I’m like a fine red wine uh between your condition Ing and your speed and equipment and everything how much would you out drive a 24y old Barry Henson today how much would a would a 44 year old out drive a 24y old Barry Henson oh
Yeah same golfer yeah I think I was 170 ball speed you know back then and I topped out so that you were one of the longer guys for sure then yeah I was still long back in the days but I hit this massive plat or this massive jump
Once we started training my body properly understanding how to use the ground force properly and then with technology as well we’ve been able to get to 192 you know this summer which was a goal of mine yeah there was like a viral video uh Barry on the range at the
US Open putting up like crazy numbers there and there I think they had like a uh 192 you know showing everybody’s trackman numbers there so it’s like you know you got brys and dambo here and you know I had all a lot of the Reps on the
Range they heard about it and they’re like what the heck is going on this 44y old up 185 190 192 and it felt uh it felt like I was cruising so you know the work I’ve put into my body and fitness has paid off in that respect Phil put up
This video for Liv about speed and said Barry gave him some good tips another thing I’ve learned from guys like padrick Harrington Barry Hensen older guys that really hit it hard is a coup twice a week after I play 25 drives as hard as I can so what were the tips and
Things that you talked about with Phil about getting more speed even as you get older yes so Phil came up to the range I think in Saudi International and said hey yeah I watch what you’re doing I’m like it’s awesome he’s like how are you doing this how are you getting faster at
An older age because he’s found that coming into at the start of the year he’s slow but then as he gets into the Masters he gets fast and I asked him the question I’m like well what are you doing to train for power and he’s like
Well I’m doing a b and c and I’m like well are you doing that consistently are you doing that consistently through the course of the year like where are you doing this and it seemed like what found by asking him these questions was he wasn’t Training Power every 4 days and
What me and Anthony have found that if you train power every 4 days you’re able to maintain that but you lose it scientifically after 4 days but strength you can maintain for 2 weeks okay so that’s why when we go on tour we want to
Do a strength workout once a week so we can maintain what we have but if you’re not training power every four days you’re going to lose it but that was the one thing I found out with Phil is that he just wasn’t doing enough power but he
Was doing the the right things leading into the master so it’s him being more consistent and I think he did a really good job of that this year and he I think that’s why he mentioned it is he you know by asking these questions not
Just to me but other players is he found hey I need to be more consistent with this and then I also need to swing things fast yep uh consistently so I can maintain that speed people sometimes will go down the road of trying to get faster but then they’ll start to spray
The ball how do you continue to you know you get get faster but then still keep control your golf ball see the it’s been the opposite for me okay the harder I hit it it seems like the straighter I go I’ve heard that before yeah I think that’s partly because I’ve built this
Engine that can handle the chassis that I’m producing the power with the chassis has to be strong enough to handle the engine or start wobbling or you going to start wobbling I just think with my Mobility my strength that we’ve created that I can handle that power and
Maintain Club face angle now I will say the one the two things for me that I feel are the key for that is grip strength okay and lower body strength when my lower body strength is strong and if my grip strength’s over I think 60 pounds of pressure on that squeeze
Meter yeah yeah that’s where I find I have the face control and I can swing it as hard as I want and I understand where the club is at impact so have you noticed like throughout the year if you’ve forgotten to do or if you’ve been
Too busy to do some of your grip strength things you’ll start seeing your ball control a little bit really yeah a little bit but for me it’s like lower body got to stay strong and the grip string so like tonight we’ll do some heavy farmer walks and you’ll be amazed

Two times a week um is going to give you what you need to increase your power okay I like some of the moves you posted last week they were good what did I post last week I don’t know I saw something like I mean you’ve made some improvements in
Your golf SL you know I think I might have watched the last video and your your plane was really good coming down oh okay was it an air swing though it’s always good you HLF oh was actually H good good I think you were talking about
The the motorcycle thing oh when I was talking about motorcycle Cuts yeah yeah right but some of those swings look really good like I was kind of impressed okay I’ll try a couple drivers are you nervous yeah no I’m not nervous I do this all the time in front you are

Compared a year ago and he’s like oh I’ve tone things down you know I’ve leaned out a little bit more and and I got a lot of control now and so we’re on the Range and I’m hitting some drivers too and I’m carrying the net and then
This guy walks out cuz they had us up on the front of the tea and he’s like hey Bryson is that you hitting drivers over the net and we thought we were like in trouble yeah and he’s like yeah I’m sorry like is there is that okay he’s
Like no it’s all right we just want to know if you’re hitting it then you’re probably the only one that’s going to do it this week I’m like hey what about me I’m going over the that I’m going over that too that’s great but uh yeah that
Was pretty funny chop liver well I’m going to check here real quick I think you’re good okay that on a 1 to 10 half I would rate that a seven seven okay so that was 109 Club okay all right so now I’m going to use like two of these these will be my
Actual Golf Course swings and what do you say your normal ball speed is should be if I hit it good 159 160 that was 161 oh there you go Desert Air is yeah desert a not trying to kill it but this would this would be an actual go
Shot there we go yeah that’s long there we go that was n and a half that was pretty good and that’s drawing too so that should be 110 club we like that yeah Club the path face the pass zero got to feel good about that won you’d beat what I got with Drew
Cooper and i’ really be pumped I think we can do it rick Shields did this with Bryson Jambo and Rick failed so can Barry and Brandon do it so 171 is the goal yeah I would love that yeah 171 would be super good because I did 170 in
Oklahoma with John novasel the tour Tempo guy okay that was two days of Blood Sweat and Tears and a lot of bang energy drinks to get it so so we just this is the gamer right here we did get Club speed 10 which we’re going to increase that with the protocol okay we
Got 282 carry with with that range ball which is fine 164 ball so those are kind of our numbers and then just to tell your viewers at home if you’re consistently using the same unit if you’re consistently using the same balls you can make increases in your speed and
And see your progression so so it doesn’t matter too much if you have a $500 launch monitor or a $20,000 launch monitor if you are X on the cheap launch monitor and you see that relative to that you’ve gone up up that’s the number you need to your relative number so
Don’t worry too much about oh this thing’s not that accurate it’s accurate to itself so that’s okay got correct correct um so yeah 110 164 that’s what we’re going to Target here and as far as you were talking about like wobbly chassis and the engine and stuff the
Path numbers and stuff look good enough that I should be able to handle some more speed without making it get wobbly okay that was unbelievable you had z z I can’t even do that okay well I can one out of 20 so this is the gold that we
Came for so we’re about to light this range up and get excited and into it and put up some speed okay uh all right so what do you want to see me do now we’re going to be on our journey to 171 that would be insane 171’s the goal here but
We’re going to run you through the protocol that Anthony Spain created using the Super Speed Stick and it’s going to be with your driver as well so we’re all about minimal dose for maximum results okay especially at our AG we we need to create power but we don’t want
To do it to where we’re going to get hurt we don’t want to do it to where we’re going to yeah you you know not be able to play we’re doing we’re doing some stuff in the gym that keeps us our power but this we do two days a week
Okay and this will maintain your power like I said you got to do something power related every four days and this will help cons convert strength into Power this going to make you faster so to get faster you got to start swinging stuff faster I don’t care you got to
Start throwing stuff faster you got to be more of an athlete so we’re going to do some Swings with this Swings with the drivers they’re going to be some Happy Gilmore swings some regular swings and then we’re going to hit three drivers as hard as we can okay and then we’re going
To hit two Cruisers you’re going to do three left happy gilmores with this then you’re going to do three with your driver both left and right okay but I want you to get after this okay so so if I’m going here not the world’s best Lefty swinger but yeah I’m not either
Right so if I’m going here I’m going to demonstrate so I’m here I’m really I want to get that sound right d that’s left right yeah so I’m going to have you do three of those then I’m going to have you do three where you’re going left-handed you know left-handed
Right-handed we want those as hard as possible and then we’re going to do the driver the same way and then we’re going to hit them okay so I want three of these as hard as you can go but make the first one like 80% okay yeah I’m ready for this this going be
Great good yeah a little bit harder nice okay and we’re going to do happy gilmores both left and right with your driver okay so the reason why we’re doing it now with the driver is now we got a little bit heavier Club so we do the light and then we do
The heavy nice okay now let’s get the right good nice one more good good good good okay slow that one’s done feeling like you’re sweating yet yeah so now I want three left and three right with this green stick but normal swings and I want you to get after these so nice Okay
114 good there that one more s 122 good come on 125 131 there we go all right you’re good now we’re going to put a ball here and I want to see you swing as hard as you can and I don’t care where the ball

Goes let’s see what the club speed is here come on baby 115 we just jumped up 5 mes an hour okay right 5 mil an hour we got 160 2.5 ball speed so obviously we didn’t quite catch that solid nice so we got checkman little 11 14.6 really good obviously another

You can go okay yes now the we all always end with two Golf Course shots now this is where it’s going to be cool cuz you’re probably going to see a pretty decent number here based on just the power work and the speed work that
You just put in so that last one we got 114 167 we didn’t hit those as solid as we want to but that’s not the key to this exercise the key is to get faster and over time you will get faster using this protocol okay 100% now Golf Course Swing Golf Course
Swing all right now in the tea y Long Beach open Long Beach is own okay Beauty perfect a great Drive Great Drive awesome so let’s see if that gets above your Cruiser number before we got 110 so that was what we had before so we’re probably looking at
A similar number I’m probably thinking about 164 ball speed so do you feel that okay I went really hard at a couple and then I dialed it back to what I would play on the golf course do you see how this will keep notching you up you yeah yeah for sure that
Um the 171 one that I swung felt so it felt very foreign to what I would do for like golf swing you know but my first one of the smooth ones it felt fast but fast and easy which I think that effortless power that people are chasing
So the goal here when you’re doing those fast swings is to turn the governor off you have this governor in your brain and it’s hard to get it off but by hitting it and don’t care where the ball goes yeah even podrick’s talked about this that’s how you have to train your body
To get the limits that your body will produce right right so let’s run through that again the stick right yeah let’s go through one one more time you want to do the protocol again yeah feel like you just want to do it for I think I’ll be
Able to put up a higher number oh well usually we only do it once a day it you might you might be fatigue oh okay yeah I mean we could do it if you want to yeah we’ll do it we’ll do okay Okay there you go that the sound it now you got three of these nice get about 131 that be the goal 33 there we go come on 35 39 M nice B to the wall nice very good yeah 119 on this one yeah so we got 170

Super video B. The academics really need to catch up with this. They still insist that non dominant side swings do not contribute to gains in swing speed. Berry’s protocol clearly shows that they do. I’m in the middle of winter speed training and I don’t do non dominant swings. My gains are much slower that you describe. I’m going to add them in and see what happens. so power is the swing, and strength is the gym?
This is how elite throwers like javelin and discus throwers train going into competition, they go crazy for speed on a small amount of reps after a warm up and only train this way when their energy levels are high .The brain and body have protective circuit breakers such as the golgi tendon organ to prevent you using too much force to prevent injury., All of us are potentially much stronger, more powerful and faster than we are right now but the brain limits us access to our potential as a form of injury prevention . What this training does is send messages to the brain that when going all out that we are safe and the circuit breakers get tweaked which allows us to access more of our potential.
