The Ras Al Khaimah Championship makes its third appearance on the DP World Tour this week as the International Swing continues with a third consecutive event in the United Arab Emirates at Al Hamra Golf Club. Daniel Gavins returns this week to defend his title. The Englishman missed the cut last week at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic but will hope the memories of his remarkable triumph will inspire him to mount a strong title defence. Two years on from Nicolai Højgaard’s victory at the inaugural Ras Al Khaimah Championship, Rasmus will aim to emulate his twin brother by etching his name onto the trophy. The four-time DP World Tour champion has begun the new year in impressive fashion with back-to-back ties for 11th in Dubai. Jordan Smith will also be in the United Arab Emirates this week. He won the European Challenge Tour’s Ras Al Khaimah Golf Challenge in 2016 and has since gone on to win twice on the DP World Tour. He’s hoping to make it back-to-back English winners of the event. Others to look out for are Yannik Paul, Thriston Lawrence and Jayden Schaper.

To one of the pre-tournament favorites Xander Lombard had a close call here last year finishing in a share of second place this his third at the par five third an absolute Peach and Lombard would go ahead and tap that one in Ken shinin well he had the day of all days
Yesterday 59 watch at one point here he is on the 14th trying to find another birdie which he would do after that fine chip third shot on this 600 y power five good spot down there played that beautifully I had a drop shot all week Lombard got to get this just right
Delightful the rhythm of that Chip he’s not that happy with it cuz he’s he’s that good but the Rhythm there was no rush at the bottom of the ball he just allowed the club to collect the ball get a little bit of spin this is where you want to be right
Here on the short stuff that’s why but he can give this air time he doesn’t want to flirt with that front it could make its way down there short left into the rough but shouldn’t be an issue that wasn’t 132 for Soderberg here at the second can he get it close to this
Tricky pin position affirmative Wonderful Contact and a super shot great shot there from torban 186 with a little bit of help in the air just a nice Aon it’s one of those golf courses as well that if you don’t find yourself in position and you don’t feel as though you’re going to
Make birdies it can play with you mentally because everyone else is making birdies thank you Mak sense it’s not a birdy hole now with this flag position this is shortsighted sure it’s a birdie hole if get it bang on and that kind of is it’s just all to
Do with this pin position it’s back left it’s over the top of a little down slope but he’ll just try to hit well half an inch behind the ball more than he usually would and just try to play a release probably land this about 20 to
25 ft short of it and try to release it out to it about there through the green here can he get the strike he did get in oh thank you very much that was going about 8 ft by well done Sebastian Soderberg he’s been hitting from this yardage since he was about [Laughter]
Six that’s the way to do it there was a little gem there you won’t play this golf course any easier go go he knew it didn’t he he absolutely knew it didn’t quite get the strike he wanted it’s a mil Pond yeah it it didn’t really for it it
Came back what a lie I saw it I talked about Manuel ala here he is at the 18th just snuggle this one in close slightly disappointing maybe just pitched it into a slide up slope on the green yeah he wants to get close to the ball with the contact to create spin
Played it pretty nicely he’s a good bunker player this lad let me tell you good all round game and then release it out to it he should get this up and down he will get this up and down if I was a batting man check there you
Go that is a big Drive isn’t it that is some drive from PA and uh like David mentioned he’s one of those players he really uses the ground really well goes up and down through the swing and that’s a lovely shot on the ninth hole that’s not a very easy
Hold El Vera surely Tak taking dead aim here at the first indeed spin very nice please to get back on the birdie train go go yeah just went a little bit steeper on it and that’s a that’s a great shot really is a great shot there fromis one of the best he hit
Today trying to saw one off it off as well good flag position pretty good gets it pin High coming in as low as a snake’s belly well what do we say about that shot Sebastian said cuz I don’t think you hit that very well but who
Cares long way away hit us a line on the ball let’s see if he’s just plunked it down in the right direction he really has oh that’s a real bonus man well AA to this tight pin at the second cut on the right just on top of a null he hates
It well it’s not that bad but from that distance really what’s that 20 ft well he’s every Green so far and is it another one I’m going to give him that that’s a give me just pick it up keep it up just 1559 Iron same deal can he stop the
Jumper yeah little UPS slope there we’ll stop it this just get a little better so a couple of good blly chances there once again for this Stella group El Vera meanwhile over at five back up the hill needs hitting this one go on then go on then and another
One goes in wonderful day from the Spaniard to get to just one behind the leader shinin he’s been in the clubhouse for quite some time now relaxing I’m sure in the hotel Andy w at home another one it’s a joke how good they are I mean you just
Feel as that they going to all everything bit of a force front maybe but this is his game drives it Well normally wedges it good you C it well well he missed but not by much ver is thinking boy I’m enjoying this right at the top of the leaderboard
DP World Tour event this is what he’s been working for for many years and another one finds the bottom of the cup the Spaniard strides to the top of the leaderboard alongside Englishman Callum shinin nine under for his round that looked an easy little clip from
151 oh gets better and better it really does well it’s not be on the round was a possibility we’ll give him that Todd Clemens he’s on the 16th difficult 16th but it is for birdie missed a few this nine didn’t miss that one super birdie for Tod
Clemens now another new name for us Mattis Bess from Belgium he’s come through the qualifying school got the fifth guard actually so he’s got some Talent he’s only 23 years of age look at this on you come in you go in you go no oh some some look lucky that one
Looked unlucky to me third shot tight pin it’s on a down slope as well he needs to get a bit of action on this if he can he’s digging it out trying to get some spin bit of purchase and he gets it brilliant great shot Tod Clemens one more for Lu
Indeed he joins the Spaniard at the top 14 under par there we go lovely score card there just the one blemish this is 62 y he has been rock solid with the pter hasn’t he and that is a wonderful round of goal 10 birdies no Drop
Shots third round of 62 we’ve had this week so that is how it lies Joshua Grenville would could still have some say in what the lead is heading into the weekend but at the moment you’d have to say it’s odds on hyar and Alvera taking a slender

Some sports agent should probably go check if the Hojgaard family has any more children. Rasmus leading in the Emirates and brother Nick is 2nd at the PGA event at Torrey Pines.
