Golf Central on YouTube is brought to you by the Paradigm AI smoke woods and irons from Callaway hello I’m Anna Jackson and this is your golf Central update well it is a very quick turnaround for the PGA Tour they head to Tory Pines for the Farmers Insurance open just a reminder the

Tournament is a Wednesday to Saturday event and it’s been played in the San Diego area since 1952 and has been at Tory Pine since 1968 and our Steve Bowski is is on hand and talked with the defending Champion Max Homer I just remember certain shots and certain feelings but I’ve always liked

Coming here win or win or not win so it’s cool to have a some extra good memories but I love San Diego I love this golf course so it’s just it’s always nice to be back here and you’ve had success in the state of California

Four of your six wins have come here in the state the last 11 times you’ve played in California four wins four top 10 what’s the secret I think po doesn’t piss me off as much as other people uh but yeah I don’t know I think I’m very lucky uh I’ve always

Said you know I love this state and I think sometimes it loves me back so I’ve just got good good karma here how much do you appreciate the ups and downs you’ve had in your career we’ve always referenced that Friday in Portland on the corn faery tour it’s been well

Documented but how much do you look back and realize wow I’ve came on the came out on the other side and continue to move forward yeah you know think about it a lot I think it I try to use it as as a superpower as my team says uh we as

Golfers or any athlete doesn’t understand the real pressure of life but I also think that some athletes don’t uh always have to deal with the real pressures of uh you know their job as as one so I feel like I I saw I stared kind

Of the end of my career in its face and uh said go away please and yeah so I try to carry that with a badge of honor especially when you know you’re getting down to the nitty-gritty on a on a Sunday or this week a Saturday and just

Know that I’ve I’ve dealt with you know more pressure than this as you referenced in Portland so uh try to make it fun and just be thankful for the opportunity how do you continue to build on it and try to take it to the next level just keep working I’m really proud

Of everybody uh on my team about we’re not settling for what we’re doing we just want to keep getting better uh and I I’ve been I’ve taken that on I’ve worked really hard and I’m I’m going to continue doing that so uh obviously it gets to be harder to find areas to

Improve the the further you get to the top but uh I think I I like that part well looking at the field Jason day one of the favorites this week in San Diego 2023 saw Day’s real Resurgence winning for the first time in five years at the AT&T Byron Nelson and then

Teaming up with Lydia Co to win the inaugural Grant thoron Invitational just last month and a lot of talk around day recently which surrounded his choice of attire at the Sentry as he transitions from Nike over to malborne here’s baggy pants during the second round in Maui caught quite the attention on social

Media and burko also caught out with day at Tory Pines earlier alongside the man that won the farmers back in 2018 Jason what is it like for you the memories that come back when you return to the farmers yeah they go all the way to Junior days uh playing

The World Junior Championships here um had a lot of success um outside of the couple wins that I’ve had here I’ve had really good success here as well and kind of amazing how fast the time goes but uh yeah no it’s it’s nice to be able

To have good uh good memories here it’s always a stop for me um on the west coast Wing is to come to play the farmers why do you think you play well here what is it about this place that suits your game I don’t think I do anything crazy outstanding at this golf

Course I feel like I’m pretty average you know in regards to all like the stats um but it’s you know it’s one of those golf courses that you or we obviously played north and south but like especially the South you definitely have to have a really good attitude this

Week um knowing that there could be you know inclement weather in regards to like a lot of wind and and and potential rain and then obviously how long the golf course is um I don’t know it’s just like it’s it going from Ax to this week it’s dramatic different so it’s like try

And take advantage of the north Co that we’re playing today and then um get on the south uh during the week and try and you know guess just survive when you look at what you were able to do last last year getting back into the Winter Circle how did that change maybe your

Perspective for let’s call it the second half of your career yeah um I would say that I am very blessed and thankful to be able to play this game um going through injuries and and the previous five years of of not being able to you know have really a lot of

Success um but being able to come back from that and and work hard and and and understand that it is a process and it is a journey and and things you know don’t always go well like you know some of the other players but like you just got to kind of

Stay in your own little world and um stay on your journey and you know I I feel like I’ve got a lot of lot of good golf left um I know that you say that I’m in my second half of my career which obviously I am and um I’m hoping that

Second half of my career is is a long one what do you think you can achieve in these next 5 10 15 years yeah I mean obviously it’s hard because like the more I I try and think forward uh it like it can give you anxiety so I just

Try not to I I try not to think about it too much I just want to wake up every day and and give it 100% then you know if that yields more wins and great I just trying I’m just trying to better myself every every week every year um

And and try and learn from it and and just keep grinding away but you know I’d hope I’d win more majors and obviously more tournaments and that’s kind of what we’re we’re here to compete four we today also Mark the beginning of the 2024 PGA show in Orlando it’s an annual

Event to bring together leaders in the sport with the newest products programs and ideas in golf and golf today will have full coverage throughout the week but if you missed anything from today’s demo day here is a recap from the 2024 PGA show with Matt Adams and Bailey

Shamley Anna thank you very much it is a very important start to the PGA show week that we’re here at demo day because if you saw golf today earlier in the day we had a chance to see a lot of stuff Bailey and it’s a chance for the people

That are here to actually hit the equipment or check out the technology of which there is plenty of that after today we move inside of the Orange County Convention Center where there’s some 1 million square feet of space dedicated to the game of golf if you

Could think of it related to this game you can find it related to this game inside of that building our steps in tomorrow we’re going to get our steps in there’s no doubt over 10 miles of Alleyways and byways if you go up and down all of them what did you see here

Today that you like though amazing stuff right um I’m harping on flight scope though I was blown away they have so much new technology and if you’re a golfer you’ve heard of flight scope you know it is a launch monitor can be a simulator tool um so many new things

That they’re offering this year at a great price point so definitely check that out one of the things is a golf planning tool so you take the information specifically literally from your range session you have a match you have a Club Championship in 3 days you

Tune in you type in all of your information you tell it where you’re playing it’s going to know the weather it’s going to take your numbers and tell you how far you’re flying your irons and other info that can literally take all that info and be applicable and you can

Win the Club Championship you can win the Club Championship Mark you on that this event as I mentioned so important from the business side of what the game of golf represents really connects though I think with all of you at home because M almost 41 million Americans

Played golf in some way shape or form in the year that just was over half of that was on golf courses itself traditional if you please but golf entertainment venues are also becoming more and more popular if you hold the golf club in your hand you’ll be very interested in

What we’re going to show you over the coming days because golf is a very very powerful engine in our economy representing over 100 billion dollar over the course of the last year and 7,000 PJ professionals registered this week I mean it is hopping it is hopping

We can’t wait to show it and share it to you over the next few days Anna back to you Al righty looking forward to it well we have got a special edition of gold today coming your way on Wednesday 11: to 300 p.m. Eastern and they’ve got wall

To- wall coverage from the convention center some great guests appearing on the show the likes of Tom Watson Matt Fitzpatrick Smiley Koffman and Super Bowl champ Reggie bch thanks for joining Us
