There’s still two positions out there we will talk about both of them but before we do all that I want to tell you that uh you know you’re listening to us yes if you’re wondering who I am well my name is Kobe swing at D to Bay Dad aka
Pick d d That’s not a pick this is a pick he was raised in the land down under where a man thinks on his feet speaks with his fists and lives by his wits d d happened he was a superstar I’m probably drinking too much and celebrating too much and not sleeping
Would have killed a normal man but now that’s gone medical advice I got from that was was like being hit by lightning pretend it never happened and get on with your life yes yes yes I see the chat is rolling and uh yeah we’re grateful news news is coming out college football
Coaching news back in the day if you went to 1995 I feel like by January 19th it was already next season this is just never ending it’s never ending shout out to the chat though Chris Anderson gbo Farms feather hat Channing Brown all in the chat talking about hey gbo
Farms said Bobby Wilder baby let’s go I am joined by my co-host Give It Up four well this guy he’s down there in the Sunshine State always always out there in the uh Gulf of Mexico you know normally sipping some type of Capri Sun cocktail with uh with alcohol in it
Tropical punch all right he’ll give you a [ __ ] tropical punch give it up for the Golf Coast Guru AKA Mike Rose how you doing brother brother we’re down in like the 50s and 60s down here we we got the parkas out there’s iguana warnings they’re falling from the trees and [ __ ]
It’s crazy not many not maybe still the alcohol but not much going on in the Gulf of Mexico right now you know I’ve drank a [ __ ] ton of alcohol in my life and I don’t think I’ve I’ve ever had Capri Sun in alcohol which is almost it’s almost like how did that
Never happen seems Seems like we got to experiment on that one I might have to try that that’s what I’m saying I just feel like I’ve tried everything a Gatorade VI I mean I’ve had a lot of different concoctions some where you say why would you do that but I never once
Thought about I you know what it is I don’t think I had access I was the youngest if I had little brothers maybe they would the Capri Suns would be around and I go oh [ __ ] yeah we’re gonna we’re going to load up the Capri Suns although I’ll be honest hard
To get that little straw I was about to say that was always that was always a [ __ ] for us you know that was like cracking a safe these days you know what I mean can you get the straw in that in that [ __ ] hole uh you bend it
The whole day is [ __ ] yeah you know uh that’s why you end up using the pouch side you know the the stronger side like you’re in [ __ ] Afghanistan you know what I mean you’re sitting over there you Hulk and it go through both sides that’s like some [ __ ] they give you in
The Army the other side right you were in the Army I feel like you probably had to do that where you just got the regular pouch uh anyway they they might have asked you to uh pass this test to get to get the uh the okay on going
Overseas uh folks there’s a [ __ ] ton of coaching uh changes at the moment I’m seeing uh 27 but there’s two open job positions and one of those is because legendary coach Tim Murphy former Springfield linebacker he retired he said he you know most recently he’s been at he’s been at Harvard since
94 and he’s had some damn good years at Harvard including an 8-2 season last year a first place finish in a way in in in the ivy uh he punted on all this [ __ ] he said I’m out I’m out I think a lot of these Old School coaches like Nick Sabin
And Tim Murphy who was 67 years old thinking about the transfer portal all this other stuff now I know it’s at Harvard but still I mean those guys transfer out too uh previously before that he was at Cincinnati with the Bearcats from 89 to 93 as their head
Coach and before that he was at the main black bears as a head coach um uh had had assistant roles at Brown at Lafayette at Boston University before they were [ __ ] and canceled their football program uh this guy’s 232 134 and one all time I mean he’s got 10 Ivy League championships since
1994 he’s got one Yankee Conference Championship with the main black bears that conference no longer exist um your thoughts on the news of Tim Murphy departing riding off into the sunset saying [ __ ] you transfer portal uh I don’t know if he’s truly saying that but he’s anyway he’s retiring your
Thoughts yeah man I think you hit the nail on the head I think with these service acmy and the ivy league in particular the way the game is going right now when those guys could could exit through the portal it’s like why the hell are you going to stay at these
Schools and and if you’re a decent player that is a good player that maybe has dreams to going to the NFL or at least you know getting the high exposure why why are you gonna stay at these schools where you actually have to go to
Class and [ __ ] when you can go you know just be named theist and get an air conditioning commercial in an nil deal you know what I mean so these guys are with the rule changes in the nil they’re they’re at a disadvantage brother that’s
True I I I look my son is doing the next like couple weeks here I feel like I should change his name to something catchy like that so we can capitalize on his nil go talking old grandpa uh I’m sorry old old dad at that point when I’m
In my grandpa years uh I can uh pimp out my son and get some some some cash from the nil world let’s go Exon Dan yeah that’s what I’m saying yeah that’s that’s a great great name great name Exxon uh yeah so that job is open and we
Still have not had uh I’ve been off the internet a little bit this morning but uh Florida A&M still you know Willie Simmons left for Duke after to going 45 and 13 there so Florida A&M and Harvard are the open jobs at this very moment obviously [ __ ] can change there’s been talk that
Uh Fred McNair could be Florida A&M’s next head coach you know coming over from alorn um but I don’t know we’ll see uh what do you think about because that’s that’s a tough loss for Harvard this late in the coaching Carousel that’s a Legend You’re basically replacing a [ __ ] Legend on
On a whim who you going to be able to pry I know Harvard has true [ __ ] you money if they wanted to but uh they never really throw it down into their Athletics so is this you just promote from within and if you’re Florida A&M I think you what you’re just hoping for
McNair right yeah I mean Florida A&M I think they’re going to probably at this point in the game especially with uh how far this is going to put you behind in the recuit the recruiting cycle and you know potentially the transfer portal close now but gonna open back up you got
To make some noise probably particularly in the portal since you’re so late uh in in the year so I think there you know you got to get a splash higher and Fred McNair I feel like that’s kind of the most obvious one as far as Harvard I I
Think the way you go is you know if you have an assistant coach that’s been on staff for a long time maybe him somebody else that’s been in the I league for a long time maybe that’s the route you go I feel like that’s the safest play and
Then the name Harvard kind of speaks for for itself from there so hopefully he land somebody uh experienced in the league I think is one of the most important things because it’s a whole different ball game in the IV yeah yeah um folks if you’re watching on YouTube
Youtube.com theol experience you see I have some sweet ass Graphics here my pick Dundee coaching rankings uh and look some of this is you know I went through all 20 what 27 coaching hires uh right now obviously they’ll be 29 and we’re going to talk we’re going to go

Just going to Rattle through these instead of going alphabetically I like having the graphic up there and we’re just going to Rattle through these and look I put put this together over a few hours I I kind of feel really good about the top 10 after that I think I could
Look like a fool I just don’t know enough about some of the other guys but I think it could they could some of them seem like genius hirer so I don’t want to be you know having uh you know Chris Dishman DM me saying you piece of [ __ ]
Dundy uh I think it’s it’s all you know it’s all subjective so but let’s start with number one for me and that was Trey lamb coming over from Gardner web to East Tennessee State we saw uh essentially you know him really kill it at Gardner web uh he’s a former gbo
Farms in the chat was talking about he’s a Trader because he uh obviously played quarterback at Tennessee Tech from 2008 of 2012 he then was a quarterback’s coach in 2013 uh and also the offens coordinator in 2018 and 19 and for him to go to Gardner web and have the success that he
Had as a head coach this the guy who started his career through covid as a head coach two- two at Gardner web during the co season the next year 4- seven followed by a seven and six season where they made the NC the FCS playoffs followed by a seven and five season
Where they made the FCS playoffs and really just Conference record of of 10 and one in the past two years you got to remember Garden Web was scheduling a lot of FBS so I when you say seven and five that a little bit diluted probably more like seven- two
Something like that if you’re counting against other FCS opponents uh I thought this was a slam dunk higher for East Tennessee State and I understand the animosity because this is a a rival to go to a rival is tough but uh I think it’s a great hire if you’re an ETSU fan you’re
Saying hey this guy did a unbelievable job at Gardner let’s get him in here because ETSU had fell off they had fell off something something bad I would say over the past few years you look back what was it two years ago or three years ago they were in the FCS playoffs taking
On North Dakota State up there in the Fargo Dome G gave him quite quite a game if memory serves me correct um I want to say it was 21 when they did that so the past two years they’ve been ass uh so they had to figure something out and
They knew the the Randy Sanders era um was uh was was you know some something to be proud of was it Randy Sanders it was Sanders right or was it tor Bush um either way uh I think it’s a great hire what’s your thoughts I give
This one this was an a to me this was a Flatout a because of of another thing is his age like you’re getting someone now sure that maybe he has aspirations to go to the FBS maybe money is money um um but East Tennessee State I think realized their program was trending in
The wrong direction and they were able to get one of the hotter names I think in the FCS coaching ranks I give this one a Flatout a your thoughts on the higher yeah so we’re locked up on this one man I also gave this one a a and I
Think you’re already seeing the culture change take place I mean this is a team like you said kind of fell off the last couple years under coach quarl and uh you know now half of Gardner Webb a team that made the playoffs the last two
Years years in a row like you said their first two uh FCS playoff appearances ever he got them there and now like all those guys from Gardner web are basically going over they’re joining on to ETSU plus you brought in cold Doyle rules back up at the at the quarterback
Position so you know you you have flooded this team and I know those are just portal names who who knows what’s going to happen with that but I mean there most of them are Gardener web players that he’s familiar with they’re playoff members already they have two
Years playoff experience some of them so I I mean I think you’re already seeing the proof in the pudding uh it’s slam dunk higher to me they couldn’t have did much better I don’t think yeah uh to me like I said it was as good as you could possibly get if you’re ETSU
Um so Trey lamb obviously uh if you’re if you’re watching youtube.com thee experience you know Tennessee Tech you would think with them having the opening position they would want Trey lamb being that he’s a former Golden Eagle no I don’t know what happened there I don’t
Know the story I don’t even know if they inquired but I can tell you this Tennessee Tech went out and hired Bobby Wilder uh from Old Dominion and I believe what pre I think before that he was at Main but that’s the irony of the there’s a few coaches here that used to
Be main coaches on this list um uh I thought this was a [ __ ] slam dunk I know you could say well the guy hasn’t coached in five years A lot’s changed in college football which is actually very accurate but I thought he got a raw deal at Old
Dominion when you look at uh what he did at ODU so Bobby Wilder was was a was uh at Maine I think from what 90 to 2006 prior to that he was at Boston College he played quarterback at Maine back in the 80s right before the Mike Buck era and
Uh when he took over the ODU job he went remember ODU brought back their football program this is the guy they choose to be their first head coach bringing back the football program it had not existed in like 50 years since the 40s or something so in 2009 FCS
Independent they go 9 and2 2010 so that was his first the odu’s first year back on the scene 2010 he goes 8 and3 then they joined the CIA which was a very good conference and is a very good conference they go 10 and three then 11 and two and then they
Announce that they’re going to the FBS but there’s a one-year weight period so they go back to being an FCS independent and go eight and four then he joins the Conference USA in the FBS goes six- six at Old Dominion then 5- seven then a 10 and3 season including a seven- one Conference
Record and then they go five- seven 4-8 and then 1 11 in 2019 I personally thought he deserved to be the the you know the they should have gave him another year because what his first like six seasons he barely lost he had one five and seven season and even if
You look at that I thought they were better than five and seven I think this is a slam dunk higher now I know he’s a uh mainly an offensive coach obviously played quarterback but I thought Tennessee Tech hit a [ __ ] home run and I think you can argue based on that track record
That it’s even potentially better than the Trey lamire the only thing I would say is that lamb at least had the continuity at least or you know the history of playing with you know his days and coaching and playing at at Tennessee Tech but I think this hire is
Going to get Tennessee Tech really rolling your thoughts on on Wilder to Tennessee Tech and what grade would you give this one yeah so this uh I’m I’m locked up with you on this one and our next one too I I gave this an A minus
Only reason being is Wilder you know you kind of covered it and it might have been kind of a raw deal but he did tail off really hard there at the end of the ODU uh experience there and it’s not like Conference USA which is where ODU was at that time not Sun
Belt yet you know it’s not like that was like a world beating conference so that was a rough rough fall off if if memory stares me correct his final season in 19 I believe his quarterback in August starting quarterback uh got out for the season and the backup had transferred out so
They went one and 11 I don’t think they they were that bad though like considering the injuries sometimes you just get bad breaks in football I thought he deserved more time but yes I get your point continue on yeah so that’s I mean and I’m not I’m not
Knocking because I gave it at a minus it’s also my number 2A or 2B uh depending on how I feel at the moment uh higher for this whole this whole offseason so far I really like it I think this is the perfect coach to re-energize the Tennessee Tech program
That really fell off this year and uh looked kind of rough out there so I I think this is a perfect hire I think this is a guy with a lot of experience he’s already made a jump to the FBS and had success there before tailing off so
If you’re a team with big aspirations I think this is a guy that can get you there I think it’s a really exciting hire and if I’m gbo Farms I’m I’m excited man I’m I’m loving this hire yeah and I actually think that uh I know
GBA is a big football guy through and through and when you evaluate the current state of like Tennessee head coaches with Jason Simpson over there at UT Martin doing an unbelievable job he’s been there for so long uh you have that you know you now you have Trey lamb
Bobby Wilder Eddie George is doing a good job at Tennessee State uh the the state of Tennessee football-wise it’s up it’s doing the damn thing um but yeah I love this hire and I’m excited to see how fast uh that he can get it going at Tennessee Tech um let’s switch over to
Who what I had rated number third or number three number third uh it’s like that Sean it’s like that nor McDonald Saturday Night Live [ __ ] thve is my number th that’s not a number sir yeah yes yes it is um Tim palac gets hired by North Dakota State
Uh you know after Matt an leaves for USC I actually think now I know this is going to sound pretty arrogant I think this could be a like under ants to me they were so talented they still won championships he did a good job but at the same time I thought
They were getting worse and you can kind of see that with South Dakota States uh rise to back-to-back national championships in what go into three in the past four years right um Palos saac I thought was a good OC at Wyoming former offensive line coach at
Iowa OC at North Dakota State uh you know with uh Craig Bow and they won some championships so I I mean he was at North Dakota state from 2006 to 2012 he was also at Wisconsin Stevens Point which had some great Seasons uh in the
D3 ranks um I think this hire is a very very good hire I I really do like I believe uh this could be better than what they had with an I know that’s a it’s a bold statement because when you look at an’s career Rec record he’s 60
And 11 so you know it’s hard to sit there and say but I do believe look here a little bit of my proof 16 ant went 16-0 in his first year won the National Championship he took over an incredibly talented team for Chris kimman and then
In year two he goes seven and three they lose the quarter in the quarterfinal of the FCS playoffs then year three he bounces back 14-1 they win the the FCS National Championship then they lose the FCS National Championship with the 12-3 season and then last year they H got to
The semi-finals 11 and4 like at North Dakota state where they were used to winning for n you know winning national championships I felt like the co the the program had gone down a tiny bit just a tiny bit I think palac could be the guy to bring it
Back I could be wrong here but you’re I think it’s a good higher and I think it’s one that if you’re a fan of the Bison I think you can be a little optimistic that maybe things are going to get back to winning national championships you saw a bunch of great
Players return from this year’s team that potentially could have left I don’t know we’ll see your thoughts yeah I mean when you’re talking a guy like an you know I almost think it’s like a situation and granted Ryan Day hasn’t won any national championships but you look at this guy’s
Record Ryan Day for Ohio State and you’re like oh you can never fire him I mean his records phenomenal he loses one game a year every year but when you’re Ohio State you’re always going to be good you’re always going to get those players you’re always going to be top
Tier talent-wise and you expect more North Dakota State on the FCS level they are the premier program there’s no Alabama ahead of them nothing like that they should be number one every single year they should be winning titles so you’ve watched that slip kind of to South Dakota state now n in particular
I’m very confused at why he even took the job he took there’s nothing that about a Lincoln Riley defense that says like oh I should jump and take that job I I don’t know what he was thinking man I think that’s a really risky move but
The higher of pic man I just knocked it out of the park you’re taking a guy who won four titles as a part of North Dakota State staff he wasn’t the head coach but he was on the staff he won four national championships with the team he understands the culture went to
Wyoming with Craig Bow you know always had success there yeah exactly yeah great team great coach to stay under so I mean this guy’s coming back and if you want to get back to your North Dakota State Buys in dominant ways in the FCS what better way to bring a guy that
Understands the culture to a te I think it’s a home run higher I have it right there a minus right with Bobby Wilder I do too I mean I think these are I actually had all three of them as A’s I didn’t even give them a minus I thought
All three were just flat out A’s uh and I want to talk about this next one here if you’re watching youtube.com/ theol experience subscribe tell a friend um okay this one I think might be a head scratcher to some but I want to build you a a a
Situation here like what was available for South Carolina state after you had a guy buddy Pew who had been with the university uh for the most part since 1979 he left for a couple years to do high school to coach high school but uh he came back in 97 as an assistant
Became the head coach in 2002 he was an assistant in the 70s for 10 years I mean he’s won three black national championships eight Mak uh Conference titles four time Mak coach of the year and to me uh it’s going to be hard to replace it’s almost like the Sabin scenario you know
I thought Alabama did a good job by you know bringing in Kaylin to well I I think this one’s similar chenis Barry was hired at uh at South Carolina state and I know the track record maybe that’s the only argument to me is maybe you
Want a better track record but he was an assist and he paid his dues former offensive tackle at Savannah State they used to be FCS before I don’t even know how they’re D2 now because come on where’s that Shannon sharp money um this guy was an assistant at
Morris Brown he started his coaching career as in assistant Morris Brown then he went to Kentucky State then Fort Valley State Tyrone PS old alma mater then North Carolina A&T for a couple years as their o line coach then Morgan State then back to A&T for a few years
Then he went up to Howard in Washington DC with the bison and then he was with the Southern Jaguars from 2013 to 2019 we know they had a great coach um and then he took the head coaching job at Benedict during the co season so he never they never even played a season
During Co um so his first year he gets Delta at hand his second year at Benedict they go five and five uh then after that Benedict goes 11- one they lose in the second round of the D2 playoffs 7-0 in conference and then last season 11-
One 8-0 in conference play they did lose in the second round but still to me you’re 17-4 in conference including a 15-0 record in in because I I almost don’t even want I’ll give them a pass on 21 coming out of the co stuff that they
Had to deal with I think it’s a appealing high like to me like who are you going to get that wants to replace buddy Pew you know what I mean it’s almost like I was surprised dbow took it because you have to be you have to be I
Think young and dumb and and and just say yeah I can do this and I think that’s what you should want if you’re a Alabama fan or if you’re a South Carolina State fan I think this is a home run higher for them I know the track I would like the track
Record as a head coach maybe be another year or two longer but considering that he was an assistant for 20 years I’m on board with this being a good hire and I think it’s a guy that can Elevate them uh into their next into their next
Era down there in uh at South Carolina state there in what are they in they’re in uh Orangeburg right so uh your thoughts on chenis Barry as a hire for the Bulldogs what was your grade on him I’m just curious I gave it an A A oh
Another a okay well and the logic was simply this I don’t know who you could have got like who you could go the former player route I don’t feel like that always works out uh and then who wants to follow buddy Pew that had so much success there
I think this is the best case scenario you could have done go to the D2 ranks get a guy that is is kicked ass recently and I think that that it’s just the best you could do considering the scenario yeah so I I definitely I actually I think you you made a great
Point there and you’re making me question I got this at a C+ um and it’s it’s because of the duration that he was a head coach you know down a D2 uh not a very long time but it is a good record and and I think your point uh really
Knocks it out of the park because not only are you talking buddy Pew but you’re talking like 40 years of legendary coaches because then tack on Willie Jeff before that this is a team that’s had two coaches in like 40 freaking years so this is a hell of a
Job this is a tough job to walk into um so you know for me it’s kind of a wait and see game I I think you know kind of similar to what I was saying about Harvard I think one of the most important things when you’re when you’re
Talking HBCU is you get a coach that is familiar with HBCU they have to be a part of that culture understand it understand what it means to these players you know understand why you’re playing in the celebration Bowl instead of going to the playoffs and you’re making that choice
You know consciously you know you’re deciding to play in the celebration bowl over the playoffs so um yeah it’s a little bit money but also the history and the culture you know well Annie’s familiar with South Carolina if you don’t know Benedict College is located in Columbia South Carolina so getting
Access to you know he’s probably plugged into the pipeline of High School coaches you know what I mean that that are in that area um he’s in Ohio boy I thought You’ give him an a just based off that yeah no so the c c was kind of where I
Was at with guys that uh that don’t have a ton of experience um but however regionality is something that’s why I gave him bumped him up with the plus because I do like that he has some Regional experience there in the in the state of South Carolina that’s pretty
And North Carolina to me like to me uh those are the two areas maybe Georgia you’re going to come into or try to get into Florida but specifically South Carolina North Carolina has a lot of talent he he spent uh what he spent I don’t know four or five years at North
Carolina a& T he was also at Fort Valley State which is there and then your experience at Benedict in South Carolina I think I do think it the shoe fits to me it fits Savannah State offensive tackle Savannah State’s not that far from South Carolina it’s in Georgia but
It’s just right outside there um I don’t know I think I think I think see we’ll see but uh I just don’t think they could have landed a better head coach to me like I don’t think like you we could sit there and go through you know some of the the bigger
Names uh you know we saw uh McNair kind of play himself out of alorn I don’t think he would have taking the job at South Carolina state I think you would take it yeah I like I’m saying so I don’t I don’t know if you want that to
Follow buddy Pew so that’s why I think it’s it’s the best they could have done so I’m going to give him an a there you go I like reasoning all right number five for me was Dan Curran now uh I was a bit surprised he took the gig because uh Mary Mack had
Seemed to be coming on um so obviously we saw Matt chzn go to James Madison which freed up Holy Cross which has been such a great story uh over the past few years of the FCS um so Mary Max head coach was Dan Curran and he’s a former former fullback uh
From New Hampshire who actually did play uh for the Seattle Seahawks uh for for and the New Orleans Saints for a couple years and some Arena game uh Arena teams but ever since he took over the marac job I mean I think he’s done a very good job uh remember they were not
D1 so seven and four in the Northeast 10 Conference then 4- s 6 and5 3 and 8 4- six 5 and five but then they jump up to the NEC in 2019 he goes six and five That season winning season first year in uh D1 football obviously Co was affected you
Know really affected them they went 0 and three they only played three games and it was a big I just delete that in my opinion then 2021 five and six okay you finished six in the nor in the NEC that wasn’t great but then they bounced back with an 8 and3 season finished
Second and then last year they finished second uh despite going five and six they were second in conference uh I think it’s a good hire I think he’s a good coach and I think he’s got like I thought he had the mar ma program rolling I thought like they were a team
In future years that I think is would be one of the better teams their trajectory was going up um so I thought it was a really good hire for Holy Cross like I think this is another one that I would say and the only problem is is saluka
Was or not saluca uh chesy was so good I just don’t know if he could replicate being that good uh but I still think all things considering it’s a good higher I give this one more of a B plus but probably once again to go back to the South Carolina State thing probably
Like the best thing they could have done is hire him your thoughts on this hire before I jump into that I mean I guess this is an FCS show so let’s break a little news uh Matty saluca going to UNLV are you surprised that he didn’t
Transfer to JMU cuz I was well I originally was but then I saw JMU landed Washington’s backup quarterback like a couple weeks ago um John A blank on his name he was a was Dylan Morris I believe oh man I’ve had a phone to pick with that guy ever since he came something
About him I never liked him well he was a huge recruit though he was a huge recruit so when I saw JMU land him I go huh so that that made me figure that saluka probably wasn’t going to JMU even though I thought originally that he was
Going to MH UNLV Landing him I think I mean that guy i’ call him TBO Jr I think it’s a great G for UNLV and I think people will be surprised about how good of a quarterback and competitor he is I agree I agree but yeah back to what what
Were you saying yeah so Curran no uh this was actually my number four right behind pic for me uh I think it’s a great higher my only thing I gave it a B+ a little lower than the other ones and that’s because his overall record 53
And uh 58 now I know there’s transition in there everything like that there’s reasons for it however this last year was what really gives me the hesitation because I was expecting them to take another step up and it didn’t really go that way like you said five and six uh
Some questionable points in the season so I was a little worried about that however I still love this H for Holy Cross I think following up chzn and following up the recent run of success that they’ve had I I don’t think they could really ask for a much better
Higher than Curran here so B+ for me and I I do love this higher yeah I think I think we both see eye to eye there obviously last year did concern me a little bit but I still think considering the situation I think it’s it’s they got a good football coach
And they’ll Holy Cross should be in good hands for years to come folks we’re going to get to the next one but uh before do that I want to tell you the FCS college football experience is brought to you by cut cut is a peer-to-peer social betting platform

Gpn all right we are back in talking FCS and now we jump over to UC Davis Dan Hawkins retires and uh long time long time uh UC Davis guy and also Boise State and Colorado buffalo head coach um I thought this one the shoot see I thought Tim Tim plow did a
Terrible job at Boise State personally but I think it you know sometimes that happens you could find a coordinat just struggles with a certain roster for a year or two but this guy’s had a great track record prior to that and I feel like he so UC Davis the shoe fits this
Is a guy that played at UC Davis from 2003 to 2007 he then was a you know a ga in 2008 there then became the quarterback head coach all the way up to 2012 then he leaves for Northern Arizona where he’s the wi out coach in the OC
And then he jumps back to UC Davis from 2017 all the way to 2020 he was recommended by Chris Peterson for Boise to hire him it just didn’t work out what for whatever reason now boy Boise also happened to fire their head coach maybe that had something to do with it um he
Was with Justin Wilcox and the California Golden Bears this past season he comes home though to Davis California uh as the new head coach on what in early December they they went out and got him um he was the the quarterback’s coach at Northern Arizona of case cookus
Who’s uh lighting up the usfl or the UF UFL recently with the Philadelphia Stars I this one this the shoe fits I I don’t know necessarily is this you know we’ve never seen to be a head coach but he spent so much time at Davis when when Dan Hawkins goes to leave
It makes sense to me this guy’s 38 years old he’s got you know this could be a big time Big Time get you know Chris Peterson was a Davis guy too so it makes a lot of sense to me to keep it in family so I thought this was a great
Hire for UC Davis now had another school if you want to play you know devil’s advocate here and say well dundy what happened if uh Stonybrook hired him I probably wouldn’t rate this in the top 10 it’d probably be back at like 15 because of the unknown but I just think
He is a UC Davis guy through and through and it makes sense I give it a b what do you doing here yeah I got this one at a B minus so I’m I’m hesitant on this one I like all the same things you like about it he’s a west coast boy like
Through and through he was born in San Diego California he’s pretty much coached I mean he’s basically exclusively coached on the west coast played as you said at UC Davis so the shoe fits in every which way it’s the Boise thing that I’m tripping up on
Because that was like right there in the start of like what the hell is going on at Boise State after Decades of dominance and uh I’m giving him a B minus and I’m optimistic about this because I think it has a little more to do with just what’s been going on there
At that program lately and them losing that their identity like they were still trying to they were trying to be air raid and it was like quote unquote air raid you had bachmeyer out there like always hurt wasn’t really playing that good when he wasn’t hurt they still
Tried to run the ball and be Smashmouth but it was like air raid the weird air rate I’ve ever seen so I I want to give him the benefit of the doubt Tim plow that is and say that that wasn’t all his fault um I think Boise just kind of lost
Their identity uh along the way so I’m gonna give him the benefit of the doubt I’m giving this High a B minus and uh I really like the regionality and and the fact that he’s a Davis guy he’s a Cali guy through and through yeah yeah I just
Think the shoe fits with UC Davis there um let’s jump on over and talk about the the next guy and this is one that think could be a slam dunk this is one I’m very curious to see how it shakes out so Stony Brook the SeaWolves I know the human being and
Fish can coexist peacefully um they went out and hired Billy Kos now you might say what what who uh this might be a low-key grade higher like I was impressed as this past year with Western Michigan’s offense year one coming in brand new coaching you know coaches throughout the whole
The whole landscape of what’s going on in Kalamazoo as Tim Lester was fired and Lance Taylor comes in and Billy kosley year prior had been Richmond’s offensive coordinator as they went to the FCS playoffs and played that classic game at sack State uh I thought he did a great job at
Richmond and then prior to that he was at VMI yes Scotty wackenheim that was his OC shout out to Scotty wenhe we had him on the show before former Eddie Robinson coach of the year at VMI so he had that run where VMI won the socon and
Before that he was at Indiana in 2016 and 17 which by the way if memory serves me correct let me just make sure I am accurate on this I believe that’s when kayin de Bower no he was he he was 18 okay so it was right before Kaylin debauer um but
He was at Indiana and uh before that he was at Concord University but he also played quarterback Billy Kosh did for Kansas State under Bill Snyder his dad was part of the staff with Bill Bill Snider then he ended up going to James Madison obviously great program in the
FCS then he hit a community college and then he went to the Houston Cougars I believe that was the Tom Herman era so the guy has been in a ton of [ __ ] stuff STS but I can tell you this that offense flies Western Michigan’s offense I was impressed this past year uh with
With all you know the job Lance Taylor did and Billy K was a factor in that I think this has potential first off he’s 31 years old so this has potential to be a really good hire I think uh your thoughts on Billy Kosh going to uh the
SeaWolves yeah man uh I was I was this this is actually the one that I was most interested to see where you had him because I graded this at B+ and and that’s like right up there that’s uh right same grade I gave Dan Curran so I
Mean I’m I’m really into this higher I think this guy’s a rising star and I’m glad to see that you share the sentiment I mean you named all the stops everywhere this guy’s gone he’s been successful he’s a air raid guy I think he’s got it I I think he’s got all the
Tools to really uh keep making the jump my my worry for Stony Brook is how long is a guy like Billy k going to be there cuz I think this guy’s one that could fly off the charts and end up uh you know somewhere G5 or maybe like a lower
Power five program within the next couple years because I really think this guy has that much potential so uh I’m glad to see you got him there too because I’m into this higher and I think this programs really brought bought into football uh they’ve been making noise in
The transfer portal I think this is the right guy for the job yeah I I’m fascinated to see how he does with the SeaWolves next year moving forward uh at number eight I have Brian Wright now you’re probably saying you you’re probably saying uh you know if if if you don’t
Know deep deep college football if you don’t have deep deep college football knowledge you probably say the [ __ ] is that [ __ ] um but no Brian Wright is in a Northern Arizona The Lumberjacks go out and Flagstaff might be rocking this year because Brian Wright comes in now interesting he’s you know he’s a
North Carolina guy he is 51 still young enough where you can get a solid amount of years out of him and his track records very interesting first off he’s a graduate played a white out for Worster University uh yes wster in Worster Ohio and I know you might be uh excited about
This because he’s got ties Worster Walsh University where he spent four years four to five years working at Walsh but Youngstown State this guy has spent uh nine years really working with Youngstown State he was also at Montana State in 2010 and 11 then he went to Florida Atlantic he was actually their
Interim head coach uh in 2012 and 13 uh That season um and then he was with uh Toledo they were great in the Mac great success and then he takes over the Pittsburgh state job in 2020 and uh he goes two and two that year Co season okay by the way when he
Was an interim head coach of Florida Atlantic he went 4-0 um then though 2021 Pittsburgh state 8 and3 finished fourth in the mid America uh Association but then after that 12-1 including an 11-0 Conference record they did lose in the second round following that with an 11-2
Season 9-1 in conference play I think this could be a [ __ ] slam dunk here now the only concern is that he really has never been in that part of the country that would be the only concern the only negative I could take away from that but some of that shit’s overrated
To me you coach football you coach football um your thoughts on this higher man you pretty much took all the words out of my mouth for what for one he’s a YSU guy so he’s already A++ plus this is the best coaching hire of all time they
Better even if they got saved and he’s he’s a quwi he knows what but uh no uh everything you said man I gave this one a b and it probably would have been a B plus the only thing like just clinging in my mind is this guy’s like been
Around the Midwest area all this time Ohio Pittsburgh to you know uh you know then he came down here to Florida like everybody else from Ohio does just like I did had a little pit stop down in the Gulf uh actually that’s I believe the other side I believe that’s Atlantic but
Anyway um yeah I love this it’s just the regional fit is like a little weird and that’s why I took it down a step to a b instead of a B+ but I think this has the potential like you said to be an absolute home run this guy’s been done
Nothing but succeed everywhere he’s gone uh at what he’s been doing so I I love it yeah yeah uh it’s going to be fascinating to see how fast he can get the Lumberjacks playing gota get they got to get out of that Dome Brian if you’re listening to this get out of that
Walk up Skydome [ __ ] get an out about the Midwest man you know play to your advantages all right it’s an advantage you’re up there at elevation all right let’s go um let’s talk about a the one of the most recent hires I had this one ranked at number nine I could
Eat [ __ ] with this one but Mike Jacobs was hired by Mercer um I kind of think you know Drew kronic remember he left for to be Navy’s offensive coordinator this one is a very interesting one because Jacobs uh he had compiled a 74 and 17 record across head coaching stops at
Both Notre Dame Ohio and Lenor Ry uh he’s got the the what the sixth best winning percentage among active coaches at the d uh at the NCA division one and two levels he’s coming off a big year where Leno Ryan went 13- two made it a couple rounds in the D2
Playoffs I’m kind of fascinated by this one um you know he’s a former Jim Trestle and John Cooper guy up there in Columbus Ohio obviously um with the Buckeyes he was uh he he he just he’s been around man uh he was had some other schools he was at Eastern
Michigan for a little bit I don’t think that was a great era of emu uh football but still I I’m intrigued to see how he does I kind of like the hire your thoughts on Mike Jacobs being Mercer’s next head coach yeah actually uh I I kind of like
This higher too I got this at another B so I’m probably right same in the ballpark uh where you’re at with it because I had him graded the same as I had Brian Wright what I really like about it obviously the D2 records phenomenal 74 and 17 uh interesting
Thing here too he took over for Drew kronik when Drew kronik left Lenor Ryan that’s when he took the job so he’s kind of following Drew chronic around which is it’s like Butch Jones after Brian Kelly yeah exactly exactly so um I I think I think to me that spells that
It’s probably going to be a cultural fit um I think he’s just kind of kind of has the right personality for the job I think he’s obviously got winning Tendencies and this is a program that wants to keep riding the high after you know making the playoffs and everything
Like that so yeah I’m in on this higher I gave it a beat yeah and look uh my my next one at number 10 and I agree I think Jacobs is a b by the way number 10 might probably deserve to be an A but I almost didn’t
Even know to place him here or not because uh [ __ ] dmouth hired Sammy mccorkel who was their interim head coach obviously we had the tragic scenario with Buddy tens may he rest easy coaching Legend buddy tens but uh Sammy mccorkel um he played at Florida back under sparer in the early
90s um coached there as a ga from 97 to 99 before then Landing a UT Martin job where he’s a defensive coordinator and then he he moved uh he was a high school coach down in Florida next you know he becames he becomes do [ __ ] doas uh special teams and defensive
Backs coach uh back in 2005 and now you know he was their interim head coach this past year when dmouth won the ivy league and he was ivy league coach of the year so there was no way there was no way to not give this guy the
Job um considering what he walked into into I think he hit the ball out of the [ __ ] Stadium but I’m intrigued I still think this is a good hire I’m wondering if it truly deserves to be there because we did see him Coach 10 games with the big green uh
What’s your thought I mean this has got to be an a if if we’re going to count this one as a fullon i he just got coach of the year so I didn’t know how I didn’t know where to place this one does it even count should it even be on this
List your thoughts on this higher this one’s really tough cuz I’m typically not a big guy on the uh the assistant coaches the Ken Wilson of the world that and nobody ever like snags them up and puts them you know as their head coach job so those guys scare me I’m always a
Little overly cautious about those coaching hires this one I mean you know the proof’s already kind of in the pudding we saw them as an interim so I’m conflicted a bit what I think of when I think of this guy is I think of Tim Albin that came into OU after solich uh
Ohio un University after solich um you know and he came in and it took a year and then all of a sudden like now the Train’s back and rolling and I’m thinking you know he might be able to follow in those footsteps now he already had a better season uh better debut
Season than Tim Alin did um but I think this might be right along those lines so I’m going B minus I’m a little cautious just because uh the tide could turn pretty quick in the ivy league so from year to year team could be up towards
The top and then down towards the bottom it’s it’s kind of a crazy conference uh once you get outside of the it’s easy to see a tide turn exactly but I like it all right all right uh well yeah I mean that was a hard one to
Place because it’s like he’s he’s got an advantage against the other coaches because he’s coached a year and and got you know the coach of the year so uh at number 11 I put Lance Anderson I am very interested to see what the hell this hire means because this guy has been
Everywhere uh Lance Anderson former former oh Idaho State bangle linebacker back in the 90s um he has been he followed that by being the running backs coach of the Bengals of Idaho State and then the tight end Coach and the offensive of line coach
All the way into 99 then he went to the Mobile Alabama Admirals go catch a game from them uh where he was the running backs coach then he went to Bucknell for three years or four years then he was St Mary’s remember when they weren’t a bunch of [ __ ] and they quit
Their football program hey St Mary’s it’s not too late to bring it back he was their defens coordinator then he ended up at Utah State in 2004 as their linebackers coach then the San Diego Terrero with Jim Harbaugh H that seems like a good a good hire then he was at
Stanford with Jim Harbaugh and David Shaw all the way up until uh the end of the Sha era in 2022 and last year he was on Boise State staff they won the Mountain West anyone that’s been with Jim Harbaugh and David Shaw I think is a
Good potential candidate to be a uh head coach but um I guess you know I guess like this is one where he’s been an assistant for a long [ __ ] time but he’s 52 years old he’s still relatively young I like the shot you told Tech’s doing here and and you know he’s familiar
Uh Idaho Utah right there they touch each other he spent a lot of years in Idaho he’s born in Idaho but he also spent some time coaching Utah State I don’t think it’s that bad of a hire I think this is one that I was intrigued I think this could end up
Being a good hire I’m fascinated to see you know what he does in his time at Utah Tech your thoughts yeah H cautiously optimistic on this one as well for another guy like I said not huge on the assistants that have been out there forever that uh
Suddenly get the job after 20 some years it just makes me wonder why it didn’t happen sooner but all the things you mentioned all the years that he spent with successful programs you know particularly out in Stanford um that stands out to me so uh also he’s got the
Regionality going for him he’s got a lot of experience with the game never been a head coach that worries me I gave this one a C+ I like the regionality I like uh his history of being on winning themes interesting interesting we’ll see how that one shakes out next up uh uh I
Mean this guy was one of the better Corners in the 1980s in early 1990s in all of football in in the world I’m talking about Chris Dishman who played uh former Purdue Bo maker who he was part of a secondary at Purdue with Rod Woodson and Chris Dishman holy [ __ ] um
He is Chris Dishman who I’m referring to but I’m saying that’s an amazing secondary um he grew up in Louisville Kentucky went to Purdue fifth round draft pick in the rest of’s history was a a really good corner for the Oilers the Redskins the Chiefs and the Vikings uh played under some great
Defensive Minds uh Jerry Glenville would be one uh a big you know he just got hired by the way Jerry Glanville shout out to Friend of the program Jerry Glenville uh just became a D2 uh defensive coordinator at 82 years young but no he was also under buddy
Ryan he you know he uh he’s he’s got a good track record of of playing under some very successful defensive coordinators um but then his coaching career began in 2004 with the Berlin thunder in NFL Europe then he went to meno College Menlo College in uh California and then after that he was
The San Diego Chargers defensive backs coach I do believe that was under the shoten Heimer in the shimer era then uh Baylor he was with Baylor uh in the art and BRS era or Jim groe era maybe uh 2015 and 16 then he was uh with the Arizona Cardinals then the Montreal
Aletes in the CFL then the New York Guardians in the XFL then IMG Academy’s defensive backs coach then the New Jersey generals with Mike Riley I thought he did a very good job I I host the usfl gambling podcast and uh and the XFL so I I you know he was with
The Vegas vipers last year with Rod Woodson reunited with his college teammate they struggled but the defense was pretty good Texas Southern goes out and hires him I mean I kind of like it now I I will say I don’t know if uh the players will know hey
That’s Chris Dishman they should but I mean the youth is so so what if you’re 18 years old now you were born in what 200 uh 2004 you know so 2005 um but I’m sure if they can if they use Wikipedia they can find hey Chris
Dishman was a damn good player and I like the way he was he was running his defenses in the those alt football leagues I like the hire if you’re Texas Southern I know that this is the only negative you can say is it looked like Fred McNair was going to happen and Fred
McNair has a track record of looking very good uh you know of looking that looking like a really good hire but that didn’t work out so all things considering if you throw that aside it’s an interesting hire to me I think it might be able to work I know a lot of
Former players it doesn’t always work but your thoughts on Dishman going to the going to uh Texas Southern there yeah so this one uh we’re we’re definitely uh we’re we’re in contrast on this one for sure I had this as a demonus I actually don’t really love
This higher uh for me primarily the FBS FCS college football experience uh not college football experience like us but his experience coaching at those levels that’s what I’m worried about like you said the Baylor job 2015 2016 that’s the only time he’s coached at FBS or FCS
Level uh he’s been in the alt leagues and he’s been in the NFL but never really at this level of college football uh and now he’s getting a head coaching job here that combined with the fact that this is Texas Southern’s third choice because they wanted McNair
Couldn’t get him then they wanted Andre Johnson former wide receiver also no experience but one that all the kids would know you know player uh they missed on him and now they’ve landed with Chris Dishman so I’m hoping because I as like like you I
Like him as a player I’m hoping it works out for him I really do I’m very hesitant to get behind it normally the third choice isn’t the best and the lack of experience at the level does worry me uh but could we bring up this point
So you don’t have to go that far down from Texas Southern or that far up uh Chris Dishman I mean he was part of a a secondary on his own secondary with the Houston wers with Bubba mcdal Bubba mcdal had zero coaching experience before I mean they hired him he was an
Assistant at prie view that was it and he became their head coach and now you know they’ve rattled off two decent seasons in a row are they looking at that saying hey wait Bubba mcdow’s been successful for prair R viiew Dishman can be successful for us even though there’s not much experience
In the college coaching ranks maybe I mean I think that’s what we’re seeing is they’re really liking the uh former players to get the recruits to the HBCU um obviously the headline example of that it’s Dion but now you’re starting to see that and I think that’s what the George
Yeah so I think that’s the thought process and it could work I’m just to get behind it all right well I gave that one actually a C+ potential B just because I mean if you ignore the the fact they wanted the other two I think it’s a decent higher guys I
I was impressed with his defenses in the XFL and usfl and I so I think in that regard yeah give the guy a shot what the hell do you got to lose you’ve been terrible um now let’s talk about Jason Woodman who was recently hired at Morehead State
After a long decade at Fairmont State um Fairmont state folks is uh is in West Virginia that’s where I believe Rich Rod got to start um he was but he was 60 and 47 at Fairmont State see this is the one that I’m weary about he had some great years
But he also had a couple Clunkers years but he definitely had middle of his run there six and you know so first two years three and seven three and seven then six and four 10-2 8 and 3 9 and2 five and five then Co no season then
Five- six then three and eight and then eight and three a season ago I mean your Morehead State I’m sure he’s familiar with the area right around there uh he’s previously coached at a lot of Big Time places um mainly LSU in Florida State uh maybe this can work out I I I
Somewhat optimistic but I also I also wonder just uh you know had eight and three was the best season in the past four years past five years if you throw out Co also uh or if you include Co um your thoughts on this one yeah I I think we’re kind of on the
Same page here I gave this one a c and most of that is uh I gave it a c because he’s got a ton of experience he’s been a coach for a long time 10 years like he said has a winning record so that’s all good and and honestly like Morehead
State how much better of a hire you’re gonna get so is this like a big flashy Splash hire no but is this somebody that I think might be able to get this team at least out there playing some pretty respectable football from week to week I
Think it is I’m gonna give this hire a see have a little bit of optimism thanks to his experience but uh I don’t think he’s gonna light the world on fire let’s put it that way yeah Mike janetti was hired at marry MAAC um this is one you
Could easily make this be an A but I also know we’ve seen position coaches that finally get you mentioned Ken Wilson a minute ago I like Ken I met Ken great guy but you definitely uh did not do well given that spot and Mike janetti is a guy that’s been involved with marry
Ma football since 2005 he’s paid his dues to get this shot now that Dan Curran leaves now at the same time we’ve never seen a be a head coach but I I’m intrigued by the hire he’s been what 18 18 Seasons he’s been coach with Mar mck give the guy a shot let’s
See what he can do your thoughts on this hire yeah I mean you said most of it uh I’ve already kind of covered how I feel about these longtime assistants so uh for me my my my big problem I gave this one a c minus because of the longtime
Assistant you know always the bridesma never the bride that sort of thing but um what what I really don’t like for for this team in particular they just made the jump that we we talked about it when we were talking about Dan Curran like this team’s been on the rise kind of
Finding their footing I feel like for a program like this that’s trying to keep taking the next step over and over this feels like a pretty uninspired hire it’s feels like just kind of the cautious safe route so C minus for me and and Mary Mack I I’m a little disappointed
That they didn’t get a little more creative to be honest well let’s talk about Jody Wright who landed with the Murray State Racers this is one Jody Wright Nick Sabin former grad uh he was a grad assistant for Nick Sabin and Dan Mullen right or
No no no no Dan Mullen came after that I believe he would have been uh I’m drawing a blank on the coach’s name uh prior to Mullen but my point is he was a former running back for Jacksonville State Jody Wright uh did have connections to Bill Clark at UAB Nick Sabin at
Alabama uh also the NFL the Cleveland Browns New York Giants and most recently with Shane Beamer at South Carolina the reason why this one makes sense to me is I can see Shane so Frank Beamer and Bud Foster friend of the program Bud Foster shout out to Bud been
On the show multiple times they um they are Murray State grads they want they want the racers to get get it back going so I could see Murray State calling up Beamer and being like hey Frank Beamer I’m saying he’s like my son’s got this coach Jody Wright this
Guy he thinks he could kick some ass uh and they go out and hire this guy the resume is pretty impressive considering and by the way Sylvester kro I think was the coach uh in Mississippi State during that that run so I mean the guy’s got he
He’s never been a head coach but I can tell you this that resume pops a little bit your thoughts on Jody Wright yeah uh the lack of coaching experience is why I got this guy to C minus you know you put the sav and coaching tree that’s like most of the
Information I saw every time I saw uh Jody Wright’s name was oh he’s a descend descendant of Sabin and I always kind of like roll my eyes at that because that’s something that everybody always thinks is going to pop off and it’s only really done that a couple times from guys that
Are really like taken from that tree so uh it’s interesting I think it’s a splash higher for this school which is why I I kind of graded it a little higher than I might with no head coaching experience whatsoever I think your Murray State I mean how much better
Can you do so I’m interested in this one I don’t think it’s phenomenal but I’m very interested to see where it goes all right Mike Willis was hired by Marist this is one uh once again I’m kind at this point I feel like I’m in the true Woods of these hires Mike
Willis Princeton offit Al lineman back in 2010 all the way to 2013 was Princeton’s uh you know assistant assistant coach OC from 2020 to 2023 he’s been at Princeton really since 2015 I like that I mean Princeton’s offense was good last year but he’s also replacing a [ __ ] Legend uh at
Marist it’s hard for this was hard for me I I think okay um he’s familiar with the IV give him a shot what’s your thoughts on Mike Willis going into Marist yeah tough job tough job to take a after a guy that’s been there for 32
Freaking Seasons um I gave this one a c i mean he doesn’t have the experience so there’s that but for meist I mean how much better of a hire are you GNA get than a guy that’s been with an established program like Princeton and doing well there and then the other
Thing I like about it is when you’re talking about these Ivy League schools you know obviously you need the smart kids to go there the smart kids aren’t always like the best football players now Princeton traditionally a good football team but they don’t have top talent what they’re good at is doing a
Lot with a little and I think that’s something that that could translate translate uh pretty good to Mar so I think this is a good hire for the team specifically uh I give it a c all right now I’m curious Chris re or rise reer I think it is uh Garder web
Went out and hired him you know this is one I didn’t know how to really I can tell you he kicked ass at tiffen which made me optimistic on like hey this guy this guy might be a really good hire they made a great hire with Trey lamb or
You know prior so Chris rezer former Ohio Dominican quarterback that’s a university um and uh he was then on their coaching staff all the way to 2012 then he was a ga at Ball State before going to Elon from 2014 to 2016 then he went back to Ohio Dominican as an OC now
And then he went to tiffen where as tiffin’s head coach he was 40 and 11 including 32-4 in conference a a what 11-1 season last year he had an undefeated season in 2021 I this could be a sneaky good G I just don’t I don’t know but at the same
Time I I I I actually am kind of optimistic that this was a good hire but based on that resume but your thoughts on reer going to uh going to Garner web yeah I gave this one to see and I I I actually like the resume at Tiffin I
Mean you covered it he did a hell of a job there and uh I mean if you follow the D2 ranks I mean they’re traditionally they’ve been a good program you know over the last few years and he has a lot to do with that so I like the experience there um my
Hesitation with him is he’s coming into a situation where you’re following tryam who you know both of us had at the top of this list um and the entire team is transferred out of Gardner web and it’s not a traditionally a great football school you know those were their two
First playoff appearances at the FCS level um and the coach that took him there has gone and took pretty much the whole roster so what I’m worried about with reer is getting a real chance to show what he can do because I think it’s going to take time and patience so C for
Me I’m optimistic but a tough situation yeah I think I’d C+ for me C+ Terrence Graves took the job at Southern uh this is one where you know this guy’s paid his duees former Wake Forest and Winston Salem the defensive back uh back in the 90s when they
Probably had yansy thigpin um uh he would this guy spent a lot of time at Southern so he he started his coaching career at Winston Salem State then he went to Southern from 94 until 2002 then he left to go to Northfolk state for a year then he comes back to Southern for
Five years then he goes to Mississippi Valley State for three years then Grambling for what nine years nine years he’s at Grambling then he was at Southern uh last year became their interim head coach did a good job uh and uh two and0 as a head coach there so or
2 and0 is a head coach in general one at Southern one at Grambling sure I think it might work your thoughts uh my problem with this is I don’t think Eric dly did all that terrible of a job at Southern I think you know if if you’re a team like
Southern you had higher expectations for this year I know both of us kind of thought they’d be towards the top of the pile there in the swack um in the pre season and and they kind of fell short of that but you know if you want to take
The next step then you got to do what the Florida A&M’s are doing and and you got to go out and you got to hit the transfer portal rate it and get the big flashy hire of the coach to get those recruits to come to the small HBCU that
You’re you’re talking about so I I don’t really like the firing or I mean the change in directions as they call it to go away from duie to go to a guy that’s just been a longtime assistant coach now I gave it a c minus he has a couple
Interim wins he’s been in the HBCU ranks for long time so there’s a lot of good things I’m not really trying to take a [ __ ] on Terence Graves I just don’t really get the switch from dly to a guy that’s been affiliated with the staff
Before for so long and I I just don’t think it really moves the needle at all yeah I mean I don’t know I mean I feel like it’s an average that’s the epitome of a SE higher to me but um Dan swanstrom comes into Cornell once again I feel like I’m in
The woods here because swanstrom uh played at at rhods college and university of Redlands out here in California and uh then you know he he uh he played what in Germany uh he played with the diamonds in Germany German Football League um then his coaching career began at
Stratford High School uh in Texas then he went to Redlands from 2006 to 2008 then he went to John Hopkins over in Maryland uh for five years and then he was pen quarterback’s coach then he went to the Ithaca bombers where he had some good success as a head coach eight and
Three 8 and three eight and three then no season because of Co Then followed it up with an 8-2 season last year he was pen o pen was a pretty solid team he won three Liberty League championships with the bombers I mean I’m intrigued but I I I just don’t know your
Thoughts yeah uh I got this one a little higher I got this one at C+ for me um for one he’s following up David Archer who somehow was able to last 10 years going 29 and 71 that’s that’s a Long Leash there that’s impressive so uh you
Know I I think swanstrom what I really like about it is you got the you know the pen offensive coordinator position uh so he has some experience in the ivy league we’ve already covered that I really like that uh for another team in the ivy league and then you got the D3
Success like you said eight wins a year pumping out there for D3 itha I think when you’re talking a program like Cornell I don’t know how high the ceiling of a coaching hire really is so C+ for me on this one for Cornell in particular because I think they did
About as good as they could fair fair okay let’s talk uh we’re gonna go kind of rattle through Jeff Ferris lands at Austin P this is an interesting one he played Safety for Duke from 2008 to 2011 uh he is a uh he is a David cutcliffe
Guy was their wide receiver coach under David David cutliff was a great coach he then was a Chip Kelly guy UCLA’s tight end Coach for for two seasons uh or I guess one season that would technically be at UCLA but now he becomes Austin P’s new a head coach it
Was kind of out of the blue to me I I think Al I mean I was shocked I don’t want to say he won’t be successful cuz he could be but but I thought Austin P could have got better resume wise at least your thoughts yeah I mean every
Everything you said basically I gave this one a D+ why I gave it a D+ instead of a little lower honestly is because uh the the portal is already looking pretty good uh Austin P’s been bringing in some names through the transfer portal some FBS talent and stuff like that that I
Think’s looking good so maybe this guy has uh recruiting shops also the experience under cut Cliff you got to think that’s worth something um but other than that what the hell do we know about this guy he’s been a tight end Coach for two years at UCLA so I don’t
Know I the pedigree seems there it seems like he’s doing good as far as bringing guys in through the portal maybe there’s some optimism but uh this one I I can’t get too excited about and then you had Braxton Harris land at Campbell former Mary Harden Baylor quarterback you would
He coach there he was also a high school coach in Texas or I’m sorry position coach uh at for a high school in Texas in wakeo uh he was at Texas Lutheran Howard Payne and then he was Campbell’s assistant for a couple years under Mike Menor uh and then he went to Houston
Christian to be their head coach a year ago had a six and five season which was decent at Houston Christian so that’s encouraging however you go back to Howard Payne he was 7 and 23 in in in three years concerning a little bit so an overall head coaching record
Of 13- 28 Campbell’s been I feel like on the come up as a football program I know it seemed like late in the year year where M stepped down but or late in the cycle but I don’t know I’m not in love with this hire either your thoughts I gave it
A C I’m a little bit optimistic because I am really actually impressed at what he did at Houston Christian this past year I mean that was one of the teams I looked at and I I thought they were going to be easily one of the bottom you
Know 25 or so programs in all of the FCS and like you said six and five so uh everything before that is concerning I do like that he has some Camp will experience being an assistant coach under Mentor understands the program what they’re trying to do so uh I give
It a see I’m optimistic but yeah there’s some concern all right folks before we get to a few other ones I want to tell you that the FCS college football experience is brought you by Hall of Fame bets win bigger by bet smart of this NFL season

Store 15% off everything promo code playoffs uh all right we’re back we got a few more to Rattle out let’s go to John poppy with the Columbia Lions former Williams defensive back in the early 2000s uh he coached he started his coaching career at King University then Springfield then Holy Cross defensive
Backs coach in 2010 then he went to Harvard for a few years years then Columbia as their defensive backs coach so they are familiar with him at least he was there for uh three seasons uh then he jumped back to Harvard Harvard for uh Four Seasons last year he was at
Union in New York where he was a head coach that went 10 and two in his only year they went to the FCS uh I’m sorry they went to the D3 playoffs made it to the second round I mean he’s got experience at Columbia they know who they’re hiring
I kind of like it your thoughts yeah I went C minus uh uh same thing I like the ivy league experience specifically being with the Columbia with uh the program at Colombia so that’s cool the union thing I I tried to get excited about the 10 and2 uh season
At D3 Union but it looks like you know for the past few years Union’s been a pretty good school so he kind of took it over maybe elevated a little bit but I don’t think it’s anything to get too too crazy excited about C minus for me I
Like the ivy Le Ivy Le experience all right now Mickey Joseph we know him he was the interim head coach for Scott Frost at at Nebraska once they canned him he was hired at Grambling and I was surprised that Hugh Jackson they pulled the plug on him I thought he actually
Seemed to be maybe a little bit going in the right direction but uh I mean I’ll tell you this Mickey Joseph has a long track record former Nebraska uh quarterback also played for the Hamilton TI cats um he’s been in a lot of stops he was in
Uh you know High School ranks uh in Louisiana he was at taine in 99 he was at Alabama State Nicholls central Oklahoma back again to High School alorn State gramlings wide receiver coach 2014 and 2015 then he was at Louisiana Tech LSU he was at for four
Years and and that’s the only thing I can really think of here is that he’s dialed into Louisiana he grew up in in morero Louisiana so maybe that’s the angle but I was puzzled by this hire your thoughts on Mickey Joseph go to Grambling yeah a lot of the same I
Mean reg regionally it makes sense and uh he has a lot of um HBCU experience actually Grambling all corn uh Alabama State all in the swack so a lot of experience there um for me it’s you know it’s a recognizable name which that’s fine you know we just saw him most
Recently at Nebraska but I mean he he got in trouble you know with a little bit of a domestic situation that worries me as far as just being the face of a program now I don’t know what came of it if it you know went away if it was false
Allegations who knows I’m not judge Jerry I I don’t really care but it worries me a little bit for the face of a program and then uh I don’t know like you said I thought Hugh Jackson deserved another year so to replace Hugh Jackson with somebody that doesn’t really move
The needle upwards at all for me seems a bit confusing seems like you’re starting over for no reason so C minus Houston Christian lost their head coach to Campbell so they went I got Jason bashel Bosell bosel uh I think it’s bashel um this is an interesting one too uh you
Know he was the huskys offensive coordinator uh so I understand you get continuity there that makes a little bit of sense he uh was a high school offensive coordinator you know not that long ago uh he was also uh what he was at uh Howard Payne he played quarterback at Howard
Payne actually back in the day as well but what’s your thoughts on Belle at Houston at Houston Christian yeah this one’s really hard to gauge CU there’s just not much experience to go off of I mean you know cool he was with the program progr last year as an
Offensive coordinator so that’s awesome had a winning record in D3 at least and it seems like he’s a Texas boy which I know uh Texas schools are obviously always big on you know getting those guys to come up through the Texas ranks so maybe that’s a big deal I I don’t
Know too much what to make out of this one uh if he can get him to go back to baptist instead of just being Christian maybe I’ll be on board but otherwise I don’t know decent hire D plus sure and then you and then you have Cedric Thomas
Who’s all corn State’s new head coach now this one’s intriguing to me because he was the head coach of Arkansas Pine Bluff in 2018 and 19 2018 he went 2-9 2019 he go 6 and5 and they can him what’s going on here showed progress that’s where I buy in and
Saying hey maybe this will work out but then part of me is like wait you had Fred McNair regression is going to come um I I I do think he deserves a longer leash though because clearly he did something right from going from two 2 and9 his first year to 6 and5 at
Arkansas Pine Bluff he’s familiar with the state of Mississippi he was at Mississippi Delta Community College he was at Southern Miss he was an all corn uh DB and defensive coordinator for four years so I can see Mississippi Delta ITA Community College you name it I just don’t know if they actually
Did allor State get better from a head coaching position I would tend to say no but at the same time do I think Cedric Thomas deserves time and and a real legit Second Chance even though I don’t even know that he should have been fired if there’s first chance yes uh your
Thoughts on Thomas to aorn yeah this one’s pretty tough like you said maybe a little bit of a raw deal at Pine Bluff but it makes you wonder if there was something else at play there or if it was just you know the alumni didn’t support him who knows
It’s tough to know these days with all the politics and college football but uh honestly the five and four at Mississippi Delta worries me a little bit that’s actually a pretty good pretty good program so that that does concern me a tad but um I mean you know you said
It the best and it’s I I Echo it uh did they get better than McNair no so I mean at least you got somebody on staff I guess continuity but um I I think this is a step down for sure then you had Northwestern State hire Blaine
Mccorkel great name great [ __ ] name I don’t know if it’s a strong football name and you know his cousin is Sammy mccorkel the head coach of [ __ ] dmouth that I just talked about earlier in this episode um this guy’s track record is pretty interesting first off former LSU Tiger
Long Snapper we tiger is here on this program uh so you got to like that he’s plugged in he was he was coaching at you know LSU in 99 which I think was sabin’s first year so I guess he technically would have ties to Sabin uh UT Martin he was at for three
Years then he went to you know a few other schools but I would say decent track record Delaware Richmond Liberty Tennessee Tech and 2008 uh Bell Haven most recently but here’s the thing that’s a little bit perplexing is I mean maybe it took him a
While to get it going at B Haven because first three years at B Haven he was uh seven and 20 or no seven and 18 that’s not great but then the past three years 7-3 8-2 9-2 they made the D3 playoffs uh lost in the first round but
Still I can see how he developed Bell Haven and that’s encouraging but he he was also 31 and 25 as a head coach I maybe it’s a decent higher though your thoughts yeah this one’s tough to to make anything out of it especially the Northwestern State such a weird year
They had you know some unfortunate uh deaths and then pretty much threw away the season uh as far as just canceling games to deal with that I guess um like you said I I I like that he trended upwards towards the end of his time there at Bell Haven but it’s really hard
To know what to make out of a D3 coach that went 31 25 overall so um I don’t know interesting higher D+ sure and then final final hire currently like I said there will be two more that happened Joe Davis at least two more at Western
Illinois this one this one is a fun resume if you if you’re familiar with a yo Adrien with Adrian College uh he played there in 2002 he also played for Wayne State which is Michigan he coached at uh oh I’m sorry he played quarterback for a ton the Green Bay Blizzards the colum
He’s arena league foot quarterback um he’s been everywhere Shippensburg Wheaten Illinois North Park Northern Iowa their offensive coordinator in 2015 then he went to forom Albany with the Great Danes in 2018 to 2021 and most recently two years ago he was at Eastern Illinois last year he was nowhere that’s the perplexing
Thing about this one is they hired a coach that as far as I could tell did not coach last year he’s never been a head coach it’s a bit confusing wouldn’t you say so yeah I mean the fact that he wasn’t around recently is is a bit confusing I
Mean you know those are some decent programs you rattled off um here’s what I’ll say about this one because I don’t know what to make of it any more than you do but uh Myers Hendrickson went 0 and 22 in two years so Joe Davis is
Going to turn this program out for sure Fair very fair I’m telling you you can’t do worse than that yeah there you go that’s fair that’s the breakdown man folks that that’s our show uh give give Mike a follow on Twitter at gcg wins let him know your thoughts on his
