So we’ve got another product review coming to you today which is the Callaway Paradigm AI Smoke so globally last year Callaway had a fantastic year the Paradigm is or was the number one selling driver for 2023 that’s now being changed and we’ve got a new version the Callaway Paradigm AI smoke so it’s a very similar story to last year and if it’s if you’re going to

Make a product that’s that good you don’t need to change it massively to get some um really good results but there is one big change on this driver which we’ll get to later in the video um that they have made which is quite surprising right so there are the

Standard sort of three models of this driver you’ve got the max driver the Max D which is the drawer bias one and then the triple diamond which is the better Players Club so the key difference is so we’ll start with the Max D bring that in

So that you can see there so Max D uh doesn’t have a movable weight on it we just got a simple weight at the back which is increasing moment of inertia um and as you put that one down on the floor it looks to me like the back part

Of the club sits quite low to the ground um this is going to be the draw bias so if you’re an individual that suffers with a fade or a slice and you want to find something that’s going to help you straighten that up this could be the

Driver for you it’s not the one that we’re going to review today though the standard max now this is the mass Market appeal driver so again you put that down on the floor sits ever so slightly different little bit squarer than the Max D um this does have a movable weight

On the back um so that’s going to give you the flexibility if you want to put it into a or draw a bias position that you can um and the weight at the front is move removable so you can get aftermarket weights to put in there to

Change the weight of the club if you want to um obviously bear in mind that when you move the weight at the back left and right is going to affect the moment of inertia make it less forgiving potentially not hugely but a little bit the third driver is this one the triple

Diamond so this has got not the removable weight at the back but we’ve got two fixed weight positions one closer to the Head one closer to the back now key thing with these is that they are interchangeable so you can move they are two different weights and you

Can move the one from the back to the front and the one from the front to the back if you want to so the it will affect the way that the driver plays so if you want to put more weight closer to the face it’s going to make it less

Forgiving lower spinning and make it go further if you hit it well as you move the weight further to the back or the bigger weight at the back of the club that’s going to make it slightly more forgiving increase moment of inertia increased spin but at the sacrifice of a

Little bit of distance so it depends if you’re going to go for that driver you can play about with that yourself and see how it works out for you but there are options on that so one thing that is new this year is that we’ve got the

Project X Denard shaft in there so that’s the first time that this has been used um this is a new shaft for 2024 and we are and this is a high kick low talk shaft so this is going to be trying to keep the uh flight under control get it

Out there 60 G stiff shaft that’s what we’re going to be testing today now the big news from this is well we’ll get to it but now the difference what um Callaway talking about here with this driver is it’s forgiveness or at least the playability so they’ve gathered data

From their us Fitters so people that have been used at Key sites Across America where they’ve been fitting golf clubs they’ve gathered that data that’s been generated ated from different launch monitors put it into their computer and then they can work out the most likely strike patterns that

Individual golfers are going to have depending on your handicap depending on um which one of the clubs that you’re going to go for so previously with the um AI technology in the face what you had was the same face across all of the um incarnations of the driver this time

They’re different so when you open the driver up which you’re not going to do but I have seen the inside of the driver very much looks like on the face that it’s a kind of ripple effect on there um and that ripple effect is going to be

Different across each one of the drivers so you’re looking at individuals that are going to be using the triple diamond are going to have a very different strike pattern to the individuals that are going to be using the Max D so as a result it is a different face for each

Club to give different results Callaway is saying that it’s going to be more forgiving and quicker speeds off of the driver or more more distance depending on where you hit it to previous drivers so it’s something that Cobra were talking about I think a good few years

Ago that this is slightly different but it’s meant to be more forgiving across the whole of the face and that’s something that you’re going to see across most manufacturers this year Cobra being the exception which is a driver that reviewed recently um Cobra are talking about speed every other manufacturer is talking about

Forgiveness another difference between this driver and last year’s driver is there is a 15% saving in uh weight so there’s more carbon in the um in the driver that means that then they’re able to reposition weight throughout the head to make it a little bit more forgiving

The they’re the only Callaway the only company that are forging carbon and it’s the forged carbon that gives the look that the driver has so that sort of smoky finish that kind of gray look and all of the driver heads are different so every single one’s going to is not

They’re all going to look the same they’re all going to look slightly different um in terms of finish but that’s that’s where that look comes from it’s forged carbon um Callaway have been using carbon in their drivers for the last couple of years as a result they’re

Able to make them cheaper than other manufacturers because their processes are already in place or at least this is what Calla is saying as a result that saving that they’re able to make in production they’re bble to pass on to the consumer so last year’s driver was

Retailing at about 529 this one’s going to hit the shs at $499 which for you know for how things have been in the last couple of years to see a club getting cheaper is a good thing and when you look at the New Ping driver that’s coming out that’s going to

Be a bit more expensive than this but that’s because ping don’t use or at least this is how I’ve been told ping don’t use carbon as often as Callaway so as a result their production cost in that driver were hire and that’s been passed on to you the consumer Callaway

Were able to make savings and they’ve returned that to you it’s not a huge saving but it’s saving um so all in all my first thoughts I like the driver you put it down it’s the high shine finish um we’ve got simple marker across the top to see where the center line is

Don’t get that on the triple diamond there’s no Mark there um initial thoughts are really like it it’s looking down on it’s it’s not this similar to other drivers that you’ve seen before but I really like the way that it looks and sits um generally I like the way that

The club looks I like the color scheme I like the you know the the flexibility and the movable weights and stuff like that I think there’s a lot going on there um I’m be interested to hit this to see what the Denari shaft is like

Because as I say is brand new to the market now normally we would use Prov ons um during testing but as we’re using a new Callaway Club new club Club head new shaft we’re going to be using a new bowl so we’ve got the Callaway Chrome

Tour golf ball this is going to be the tour bow that you’re going to see on the TV this is new for this year um and we will be doing a product review on the balls shortly so if you like the reviews and you want to see more of them make

Sure that you hit that subscribe button so as I say you put this club down I like the way that it looks down to the ball I actually prefer the top of it to the underneath of it if that makes sense but to look down that looks like a really nice

Driver like like the look of it shaft looks nice everything looks good but set a few shots right so that’s so that’s a fair enough strike gives you an indication of what the driver is going to be like I’ll say there 1,00 spin rate for me a little bit low

So swing like that that kind of gives you an indicator that’s not a great swing got a little B steep on it probably and caught it a touch out the toe um spin rate’s low but ball speed is still very good relative to the to the

Strike you know like there for me to get 147 ball speed off of a poor swing that’s all right so again swing like that that’s a better swing found the middle of the club getting it spinning at 22 launching 50° that’s more or less where i’ i’ want those set the numbers to

Be and again drives like that you can see that’s start to go launching 16° spinning 23 total distance 274 for me not too bad and again strike like that definitely off center I caught it a little bit high in the face um but spin rate’s under control it’s not too bad

Launching at 17° Which is higher than I’d like but getting out there 251 carry again you know for a for a misstruck shot that’s good there’s one key thing that’s different about this driver than previous drivers and that’s the jailbreak technology now it’s worth mentioning that that’s not on this club

Which is really really interesting so ja prank technology was something that Callaway been pushing for the last few years and it’s where you had the sort of two bars that were connecting the crown of the club and the sole of the club that were giving it support that meant

That they were kept together so that when you hit the ball there was a better structure to the driver with the Paradigm last year they put the jailbreak technology through the AI supercomputer and they changed the shape of it so it wasn’t just two bars and it

Was a sort of almost like a h type shape that was in there um and it was something that they really pushed they’ve completely taken that out of this club so there is no jailbreak technology so as you look on the so of the club you’re not going to see those

Two little holes or two little marks that showed where the jailbreak was that’s really interesting the fact that caway have been pushing that for a number of years and now they’ve taken it away as a result the club sounds and feels different um I liked the way that

The old Paradigm sounded and felt um and it’s not to say that I don’t like the way that this sounds and feels but it is definitely different and I think that that’s because the jailbreak technology is not there okay so that’s plenty of drives hit right my thoughts and feelings about

This driver love it absolutely love it fantastic I reviewed the Cobra driver um a few last week reviewed the driver last week and that’s different so were talking about speed they wanted ball speed faster swings now for whatever reason and this is the problem with reviews and practicing and stuff like

That um I’m quicker with this than I was with a cobra now that there loads of variables with that and it’s worth saying that that could just be me that today I’m swinging it a little bit better than I was a week ago um you know

We all swing it differently day to day but this is quicker ball speeds are quicker shots are better the problem that I have with the cobra was um when you hit it the offc center shots just not forgiving this is okay so one thing that I noticed um over the all of the

Shots that I’ve hit the club maintains spin control across the face and that’s key so I didn’t get anything that was massively High spinning also nothing that was massively low spinning as well so it’s pretty consistent across the phase as a result it goes further when

You hit bad shots now it is worth saying say one thing that I noticed when I hit it out the toe that I was getting those sort of dippy flights to the left you expect that that’s what’s going to happen but if the ball’s coming off quicker and it’s going faster and you

Hit it offline it may go further offline but it’s that can be a tradeoff when he was hitting it low and high in the face the spin rate was wasn’t massively varying and the ball speed stayed consistent so as a result the distances stayed relatively similar to what you’d

Expect so that’s a really good thing but toe and Hill strikes if you’re going to hit it further you may hit it a little bit further offline with them um but they’re just bad swings um denar shaft really like it first time I’ve hit that

Um in truth I don’t know a huge amount about it but it is something that’s there to control um spin rate but it’s the first time that I’ve hit that shaft I really really like it um I haven’t hit all of the drivers that are coming out

This year yet um but out of the ones that I hit this is definitely the best now it’s worth saying as well um for me personally I notice a difference in comparison to my driver so I currently use the g400 max driver this goes further okay so I would say that my

Driver is relatively straight but this is definitely quicker and it definitely goes further um so that’s something to consider you know if if if you’ve got a driver it’s that’s going longer if it’s it’s going better it’s very very hard not to put it in the bag but I’m going

To be looking at other clubs over the next week or so so we’re going to be looking at the new tailor made the New Ping those reviews are going to be coming out very soon um and it’ll be interesting to see where this club sits in amongst the new launches that are

Coming out but out of the ones that I’ve hit so far that’s number one definitely
