So herb I ask you right off the bat does one team have a decided emotional Advantage coming into this thing well when you beat the number one team they beat East Hall sometimes you get a little bit of a let down and I think we saw that yesterday over in Gwynette uh

You know Beach had had a great upset over wheeler nobody expected to that looked like they had a little bit of an emotional let down against Norcross in their ball game but doesn’t happen every time and uh you’re right Stu Thomasville and Dublin are not really big names and

Let’s take a look at that we saw Kelvin Brown there he’s the guy to look for on on that U Thomasville team one of the younger players this is a young team on the other hand Dublin is one of the veteran teams uh even though they

Haven’t won one in 40 years they came in ranked fourth in the state and this is a young guy who can fill it up Ben Smith 22 points a game six assists four steals makes that offense go for the Irish one team is deeper one team throws a lot of

Lot of unfinished business that’s been the slogan that they’ve used to motivate the team to get back here to the State title now if Thomasville has anything to say about that they’re going to leave those clothes in the dryer for another year steu back over to you thank you

Gerald I thought when he was talking about laundry he wanted to see how the tide would turn but here we go Dublin of course in the white and green already attacking the hoop and Dublin a lot more experiened than this Thomasville Bulldog team will that make a difference well both teams

Kind of strangers to state championship games too so it’s going to be interesting to see if they can shake off the early Jitters Mike reic inside as Thomasville takes an early two- lead we’re underway here from the M centerplex glad you’re aboard for the double a championship boys game what a

Scores come off the bench but the coach has got his reasons and it’s worked out for him the last several games for sure and as the game progresses and the guys come in we’ll tell you the reasons for bringing those two guys off the bench Thomasville with the good defense the

Manto man as her white mentioned extending the defense right now doubling experien and pacing team on offense that’s put Johnson to the hood losing the ball and here comes Thomasville they love to run with the ball up to the hood layup no good off by Kelvin brown but

He’s been aggressive so far early going sweet move behind the back by Kevin Brown taking it to the rack and you know Dublin has Never Say Die they were down 18 or 19 points the other night and came back and won the ball game so no lead is

Come on Coach bring this Championship back one more for Chris Wright and here’s the substitutions coming in both sides but certainly for Thomasville they bring him in and knock him out as I mentioned Dublin goes only seven or eight deep so second half going to be huge cuz his pace is frantic h

Frantically both teams playing under control as well and uh you know if you’ve been playing all year with seven or eight guys you can go pretty good you’re 18 17 years old you’re probably okay you’re right 2018 doubling up by a hoop steel and here’s that man that can take it Chris

Right Dublin ball good crowd here on hand too well Dublin just down the road about 45 minutes from making maybe an hour I guess and uh big turnout for them it looks like Thomasville crowd here too Thomasville known for their football but the the folks have turned out to support

As the long three-pointer is off underneath up and in it’s Brit Johnson oh sure it’s there’s good defense being played these guys were just knocking him down early on most of them had a hand in their face double it up by 8 3628 in the second quarter of thisa championship game and

Clinton Thomas who’s been at Dublin for 10 years said this is an exceptional group of kids and I think you know what you talk to the coaches we’ll talk about the ability as they get it inside and notice a sleep play there Donell web with the bucket all these coaches will

Tell you they’re great basketball players they’re even better kids yep I’m telling you Darnell Webb can do a lot of damage inside nice pull up jumper no good but Ben Smith and all of a sudden Thomas will getting one of those boards long three-pointer up up Ty Scott couldn’t believe that one came

Out it wasn’t Ty Scott this why couldn’t believe it was actually Jamar Mo oh you’re right it was Jamar Mo well here we go back and forth just pick a name any name to the hole inside and DaNell Webb is trying to get in there now they’re taking control of

Winner in 4 a boys over Douglas County 78- 50 Atlanta in the wheelchair final over West Georgia 18- 16 that one went right down to the wire we had a shot that tied at the buzzer Collins Hill a winner by 1065 to 55 in 5A yesterday and the boys in 5A the

Winner as you see North right there 66 to 49 over Beach there we were talking about it Beach had that big upset and then in the next game it just didn’t happen for him yeah wonderful work by all the Champions uh that have won so

Far and we got a chance to see Maya Moore in that Collins Hill Championship maybe the best girls player in the in the country and the best high school girl player I’ve ever seen in Georgia I thought Tasha Humphrey was up until I myam MO is just unbelievable from one

End of the floor to the other she can do it all last night told yeah you told me that before today’s game humre is the best girls play I’ve ever seen and you say she’s better that’s suffer three-pointer launching no good Ty Scott is feeling it it’s just

Not dropping 40 34 under two minutes left in the second quarter double a action here from Mak manto man as it’s been all game long double team now and it looks to me like Thomasville just picked it up a little well they’ve extended the defense I was talking

Off and here we go 4234 eight-point lead for the Irish nice drive and to the hole Jamar Moore the other 20o gain scorer for Thomasville the coach did tell me before the game that Jamar transferred from Thomas County Central and didn’t work his way into the lineup

Just couldn’t find it but the way I’m looking at it if you’re scoring 20 and you got that kind of talent must be some good players ahead of him well it’s tough It’s a CO it’s a tough call for the coach if you come in halfway through

The season and you got a good lineup and you’re playing well you know I mean a guy and and he likes to get a shot I mean so you know that can disrupt your offense better to have a guy coming off the bench I think like that you’re absolutely right and Coach Kellog

Mentioned you know what I like this kid because look at those numbers he brings some energy I like look he’s going to get his time he’s going to get his minutes but when he comes off the bench it’s like lightning yeah and you don’t mind a guy shooting a lot if he’s going

To get 12 rebounds a game for you so he’s 6’5 a goodlooking athlete and only a junior as a matter of fact take a very good look at this Thomasville Bulldog team because no matter what happens this evening against Dublin only one of their top seven

Currently seeking a new high school principal and we’ve tried not to let the testing and this be a big distraction the boys have maintain great grades and there’s wonderful support and we’re just excited to be here it’s been more than 20 years and we have a young team and we

Anticipate a a victory today and also we’ll be back next year we have a young team we’re excited speaking of that support I’ve heard a lot from your section just talk about the amount of people who have come up today to cheer on your team absolutely I think if you

Look at the crowd and the bulldog signs provided by our local new newspaper you’ll see we have several hundred people here today and having to travel about 3 hours I think that says a lot about the support for the team okay well let’s move on over to uh Dr Jean is but

Now you also have a lot of fan support here too just talk about your section I believe we have a number of people here this afternoon if you look over there on our side you see that we are in force uh we’re only 45 minutes so away from here

So it’s very easy for our folks to get here but we’ve had to go down to uh Savannah last weekend and we had a large contingency of fans come down and support us there so we’re very pleased to be here this is really 45 years since

We’ve been in this spot from Dublin High School 45 years wow now I understand you also got some big things going on over there as well some construction at the school talk about that yes we do we’re in the process of building a new high school also we’re in the process of

Renovating the old Shamrock Bowl uh it’s a wonderful place to be it’s in the natural shape of a bowl we’re building a new dressing facility and uh Fieldhouse there also renovating the uh concession stands Press Box and the old Fieldhouse so we looking forward to it we are proud

That the people have supported the spast in Dublin for us to be able to do that so it’s a wonderful opportunity for Dublin High School and we looking forward to it now this has been a fast-paced game a very exciting game uh for both teams out there I mean just

Talk about the play today and and how exciting things have been for what you’ve been able to see well I’m going to tell you we played Thursday night here and yesterday at school it was just a long day it seemed like yesterday would never get over because everyone

Five of 16 not many free throws for Thomasville as they were content to shoot from outside 18 rebounds 16 rebounds real even not many turnovers for the fast pace to that’s uh kind of interesting and second chance points Dublin had a few more putbacks L Darius

Keep it at uh you know we’re behind right now but if we can keep it at that pace we just try to weigh them down they shoot the ball extremely well but when they miss we can’t let him rebound the ball and get Second Chance shot so you

Know all right well thanks a lot coach good luck in the second half all right Stu should be another barn burner yeah it should be a good first half and it was a good first half should be a sensational second half and you’re right her we talked about it we talked about

In the first half that defensive rebounding keeping guys off the boards could be the difference in this game coach Kelly a man a few words you know what when you interview any coach at any level at halftime want back to if you asked him what did you say right now he has no
