Thanks for watching this review of the TaylorMade Qi Irons
Welcome back to the GOL lot YouTube channel today we are going to be looking at the tailor made Qi ions now interestingly enough tailor made are claiming that when you look at the majority of game improvement ions even when they’re struck out of the center they have a right Miss bias
So with a central strike you might expect to see yourself 18 to 36t depending on the iron model on the right side of the hole the QI irons supposedly have been designed to end
Up with a Mist that is just 2T left of the hole now obviously this is a huge claim and also not necessarily what I was expecting to hear when we’re talking about game improvement irons but obviously with that potential Improvement getting you so much closer to the hole I couldn’t wait to
Get my hands on these and see if they could live up to the claims that Taylor Made are making [Music] before we get started if you haven’t already please make sure that you subscribed to the GOL for lot YouTube channel so that you see all of the videos from us in
The future and if you enjoy this video please also make sure to drop a like so let’s go ahead and take a look at these ions now looking at it initially you might be thinking these are
Very similar to the stealth irons that we’ve seen in the past to me these are looking a little bit chunky I have to admit especially on the base you can see a lot more thickness here which is
What we would be expecting obviously from this type of iron however with that said and with the chunkiness and the extra backing I do think that tailor maid have done a really good job of still making it look quite sleek and quite modern you’ve also got this added detail of the carbon in
The cavity of the club which I quite like CU again it’s pulling in that modern technology with this modern look to the club but even though these clubs do have that extra thickness behind them
What I really liked was that when you put them at a dress you can’t see any of the backing at all you just see the top line which to be honest isn’t even that thick so putting them at a dress
They just look like a nice golf club so going into some of the tech there is technology in these that we’ve seen previously in tailor made irons including the flighted CG which positions the center of gravity lowest in the long ions and then progressively shifts that higher throughout
The set we’re also seeing new iron shaping in the QI ions compared to the stealth ions we’ve got a larger sweet spot and an increased blade length to improve forgiveness and just give players a little bit more confidence that they’re going to get a consistent strike with these ions as
Always throughout the tailor made ions receive seeing individual head optimization which helps to deliver specific performance for that individual iron so first off we took the tailor made Qi irons over to Stockport Golf Club so that we could test them out on par 3es and approach shots
In and honestly throughout all the shots that I hit with these irons I was so impressed at the accuracy and the control of them for being game improvement ions I really felt as though I was able to keep the consistency in control which is something that I don’t always feel with game
Improvement irons because they tend to have that bit more distribution in terms of the back front in particular there was one parth three that I was able to just stand on and as I was hitting balls I
Was just getting closer and closer to the flag and I just felt as though with these irons especially on par 3s I was feeling so confident at being able to just swing nice and easy knowing that
The ball was going to end up close which obviously is the exact feeling you want with your ions now personally I don’t play with game improvement ions so I’m used to irons that are a little bit
Thinner on the top line so as I was stood over the ball they were looking a bit thicker and a bit chunkier than I would normally be used to but with that said it wasn’t extremely clunky
And tailor made have also done a really good job at hiding the bulk of the added thickness behind the back of the club so when you stand over it you are only seeing that Top Line it’s nice and simple
It doesn’t look like there’s loads there but there’s still enough thickness to inspire you with confidence stood over the ball in terms of the claims that tailor made were making about these game improvement irons now having a slight left bias in terms of the Miss I hit loads of shots
On the course both on approach shots and Parrs and to be honest I just couldn’t tell if there was any difference between missing it left or right but we might be able to see something in the details when
We look at the the foresight data for these irons so even though like I said I couldn’t really tell if I was missing it more left or more right out on the golf course it was very easy to see from
The forite data over at hook that these clubs were in fact having a l bias to them every single one of the shots that I hit had a left side spin on them which obviously would help to keep the ball
And stop it from going out onto the right side something else that I noticed from the foresight data is that My Back Spin was very low with these ions for example if we look at the seven ion I
Was getting an average Back Spin of 4,200 which is just very very low for a 7 ion now as we said out on the course we were playing in Winter conditions it was a little bit wet so it felt a lot easier to
Control the ball because it was pretty much just landing and stopping but I can definitely see that in the summer when it’s a bit warmer or if you were to take these clubs out on links courses
They good going to be hard to control around the Green in terms of stopping power and spin because those spin rates are so low now I was getting some good distances with these ions but you have to
Bear in mind that the lofts for these irons are very strong for example if we go back to that 7 ion again the loft of the S ion in the QI ions is 28° which is very very strong for a 7on and
For that reason I was able to Chase some at higher distances with an average carry of 144 yards and an average total of 157 and that total is closer to what I would expect to see my current six ion
Going so if you’re looking for new ions in 2024 that a game improvement and the key thing for you is distance these could definitely be a good option combined with the fact that the shot shape
We were seeing was so consistent as well going on to the price of these irons we’re coming in at an RRP of £999 for a set of seven ions now this is considerably higher than we were seeing with
The stealth irons previously which were over1 cheaper so definitely a bit of a price increase with these Qi ions overall with these ions I was really impressed testing them out they did a lot better than I was expecting them to especially when we’re looking at those approach shs to
The green and how close I was able to get them they did just feel a little bit Hollow at impact obviously with game improvement irons you can’t be looking for exceptional feel because we’ve got
To put a little bit more forgiveness in there so this isn’t a huge drawback or a huge negative it’s just something to bear in mind and something that I did notice with these irons in terms of going on to the claims that tailor made were making in terms of that right distribution bringing
It closer to just on the left hand side I wasn’t really able to test that out directly in terms of the data from where the ball was finishing however obviously the stats from hooked back up the fact
That these clubs are helping giving you that draw left bias so if you’re someone who maybe struggles a bit with a slice in your irons these could be a good option to go to and if you’re looking for
That extra distance in some game improvement irons these are definitely the clubs for that thank you all for watching this video I hope you’ve enjoyed my review of the QI ions if you have make sure to

The qi hl irons seem to have better lofts
