Hello everyone coach Loy here PGA golf professional welcome back to the channel or if you are new here welcome I hope you enjoy the content and if you do make sure you hit that big red subscribe button in today’s golf swing video we have exclusive insights from one of the

Top International golf coaches in the world Shaheen nasani and today me and Shaheen are diving into three of the most common mistakes we see plaguing golfers everywhere around the world Shaheen himself puts out loads of Great Golf content so make sure you hit him up

With a follow I’ll put all of his links in the description down below but today shahim will reveal the secrets to hopefully help you strike that golf ball better and hit longer and straighter golf shots so make sure you stay to the end of the video because all three of

These common gold swing mistakes link together and let’s make sure that none of these swing mistakes are in your golf game let’s get right into it number one is very simple very easy people do not know how to set up to the ball correctly and I’m talking not necessarily about

Hands not necessarily about ball position I’m strictly talking about how they’re standing over the ball with their body so where their weight distribution gets and how they are essentially tilting that would be the famous word so what I will commonly see and this will actually snowball into

Some of the other problems we’re going to talk about which is fun yeah is golfers will set up where they have their lower half way too squatted and back behind them and as a byproduct of that and I’ll show it kind of this way as soon as my lower half goes back too

Much my upper body is going to compensate for it and get way bent over and so what you will see from players who do this is because the chest in reaction to the pelvis is going to get way too bent over forward the hands get way too low and now my weight almost

Feels like I want to fall into my toes so there’s just no possible way for me to make an efficient movement from there number one if I’m going to be set up way too far bent over this way it’s going to be really hard with my weight being in

My toes to be able to make a full turn okay I’m GNA end up having my weight fall into my toes number two because I’m so bent over now and so close to the ball well I’m going to have to find a way to create space to make sure I can

Make contact with the ball and not just drop the club straight into the ground and what you will see golfers do often times is they willo stand up really aggressively so you’ll typically see a ton of early extension come from a really poor posture in their setup so

What we would love to see them do slightly differently is rather than have the upper body be so bent over with the lower half so squatted and behind them we just want to try to inverse that effect a little bit so you’re going to feel like you’re actually tucking your

Pelvis a little bit more underneath you and you’re actually going to feel like your chest is rising some amount so that in reaction to my chest standing taller my hands are are going to raise up a little bit and now you’re going to start to feel your weight in a little bit more

Of a balanced position so some people like to call it the balls of the feet you can keep it a little bit more simplified than that and even just think about where the arch of the foot is try to have the weight a little bit more

Neutral let’s call it in terms of like Heel To Toe so rather than being so bent over into my toes where I have nowhere to go but standing up too much instead of being here we’re going to raise the hands and the chest a little bit get the

Pelvis tucked a little bit more under you and now you’re going to be in a much more balanced position which will allow you to make a full turn and then get back down into the ball too complete reverse complete reversal high to low high to low low to high instead of low

To high so number two is all about just very simply Club face awareness it is no surprise to people the big miss that we’ll experience on the Range in our lessons would be the club face being too open yeah I’m a right-handed golfer my club face is too open by definition it

Means it’s going to point it further to the right so golfers will tend to miss way too far offline and in a situation where the club face gets too open you’ll usually see them compensate for it to try to get the ball started back online Those comp

Compensations come in a variety of forms some golfers when the face is to open will scoop or early release at it so this obviously is not a very powerful position not going to hit this ball very far it’s going to go very high in here very high very spinny some other golfers

Might react differently and they might actually start to cut across it to try to hit a little bit more down to keep the Loft down and get the club face a little bit more closed yeah start the ball left a little bit start the ball a little bit more left cuz they’re tired

Of just seeing it immediately shoot right into the trees and so if the club face is going to come into open which would basically mean that the toe side of the club head will be hanging back behind the shaft way too much we want to feel a lot more of the inverse coming

Down into the ball which would mean that the toe side of this club will actually be on the inside of the shaft so if I’m looking at this from a Down the Line point of view instead of having the toe hanging where I’m going to either have

To compensate for it with an early release or an over-the-top move we want to try to get that club face in a stronger position so more closed it’ll feel like the toe is pointed more down towards the ground it might feel like my Knuckles are kind of curling underneath

My hand a little bit some people call this wrist flexion that’s the scientific term for it you can just call it bowing or just kind of changing wrist angles keep it simple and so instead of having the club face open if we get that club face in a stronger position we’ll be

Able to create a lot more shling and we’ll be able to start that ball on line and obviously with shling compression comes more distance just comes better everything everything you want everything you want so number three is a very poor use of the body within the

Back swing so what does that mean it basically means that most golfers you’re not talking about me here are you sorry you’re not talking about me here are you I mean I’m not going to say but from experience in what we just recently saw so most golfers obviously the only

Connection to the club we have is through our hands and arms most golfers will overuse their hands and arms and not use their body enough so the natural Snowball Effect that we’ll see is if I use my hands and arms way too much and I don’t use my body enough I’m going to

Just pick this club straight in the air obviously from here I’m not going to have my hands being a powerful enough position behind me and if my hands just get way too picked up vertically I’m just going to come crashing back down into this ball it’s going to be very

Over the top very steep words that we hear Buzz words that we see online all the time yeah if I’m going to be way over the top or steep into this ball I’m not only going to struggle with my strike but I’m going to struggle with my

Path into the ball which will amplify that slice curb as well so very simple instead of just picking the hands and arms up in the air and not really doing a whole lot with our body we actually want to do once again something very different the inverse of that so once we

Got our posture in order we got our club face coming down in a stronger position we want to start to make sure now they’re actually using our lower body a lot more efficiently so a good feel I used to like to give players just take

The Club hold one side on the club head hold one side on the grip place it along your Belt Line and once you get in your posture just really feel like you are applying some pressure to the back side of the shaft so in this case I’m holding

The club head side yeah and it’s going to feel like my back pocket is moving a lot more behind me okay so you’re going to start to notice that I’m actually rotating my pelvis a lot more I’m actually pointing my belt buckle back away from the target more in the back

Swing if I do this really well The Snowball Effect of using my lower body better is that my hands are going to start to work more around me so that I can strike the ball from the inside as opposed to not using my lower body well

Where I’m just going to pick the club up very high and just come way over the top of it and I’m going to struggle a lot nice so all those three three things are kind of interl in some way 100% in fact I would argue that you’ll see golfers

With really poor posture now in really poor posture I can no longer rotate because I can’t get my weight moving behind me very well so my hands are going to get picked up yeah and then obviously from there I’m going to instinctively cut across the ball if my

Club face was closed when I cut across the ball it ain’t going anywhere near my Target and now the face starts to Trend more open to make it work and I’m not going to say that one guarantees the other but you do see a lot of them intertwin when you’re dealing with

Golfers perfect thank you very much very simple top three common mistakes Shaheen and every golf coach sees in their lessons try and sort them out people your time told

  1. Great tips!! I've been working with your thumbs in the pocket drill, it helps with my flexibility, also working with a stronger grip like your last lesson…. Good results so far… Cheers!

  2. Well, your coaching lessons of late really improved my strike. I did the simulator session today, since it’s absolutely freezing outside (New York, just south of Quebec). Last year I hit my 7 iron 140-150 total distance when struck well. Today, my carry distance was between 149-163! Total distance was 160-177! All of them were draws, just left of center. Strong grip, shaft lean, trail leg back, trail arm less than 90 degrees. I am a quick learner. And you are a fantastic professional coach. My 5 iron shots carried 173-186, with total distance of 183-204! Just amazing. All of my iron shots were draws!!!
