I catch up with her as she nears personal milestone passed the math. The new study just out that says men really

Are better with directions than women. And the reason why may surprise you today, Thursday, 1/18/2024. and so stands a California. Good morning to my friends. Don’t think you can, Wendy, but they’re watching Eau Claire, Wisconsin. >> Our students yes to levy against the New York City Police Department. How to help him.

>> How do we see it? We had that was your first moment. They’re all very first episode of Law Order SVU back in 1999, a quarter century. I’m more than 500 episodes later. It is now the longest running primetime drama in history.

And it’s made Mariska an Emmy and Golden Globe winner for her roles as Captain Live events. So we’ve got a lot to talk about. But first, let’s do a little but now we have a role. The future. We chose your baby pictures. Yeah season. 25 tonight is the premier roll it.

>> What are we looking at? Mattie Flynn? 15, Paris last side after about an hour ago. They use our last mom swears. She’s with the dead when he tells its with check out any witnesses say she said stores pose security threat. Captain Sergeant something you

Should see it found stashed in the men’s room. >> I think that stood next to her to run it tonight and check its provenance. >> Good morning. Look at human morning. 5 years. Can we just give you? And I mean, that’s incredible. The longest-running character in television, I believe once this premieres

Tonight, you know, character when you just saw that back-to-back first and tonight’s premiere, what do you think about the character new and that evolution? You know, it’s it’s it’s so beautiful to have the privilege to actually watch the evolution. And as I see it and look back, it’s you know,

Olivia Benson is sort of a perfect feminist or it right, because we actually see this woman grow into her power and you use the word swagger. And that’s exactly what it is just owning all of those parts of ourselves and especially you that little voice, that little

Voice then says that was that little voice that has just blossomed. And and and for that, I I’m so grateful his marriage to bin on that same journey app so late. Yes, yeah, you know, it’s been incredible. You know, I was I was just thinking the other day

Because it’s hard to process, right? Everyone saying 25 years, 25 years, I am so grateful for this time in my life to be present for all of that because you look at that and you want I wasn’t present for all of it goes so fast

That, you know, you go so fast. But now as we get older, I have so much room to be present and hold everything that’s going on. But with compassion and love. And it’s very it’s a very different experience. Like your life is textbook. It gets greater later. Like all good things.

All the good things are I happen in your 40’s. It was really I was a little off. What happened in your 40’s? What things happened? Well, I got married. I had my first child. I want my first Emmy. I just that was the beginning

Of sort of stepping in to myself, you know, and obviously I know, you know that my birthday’s coming up and I am so excited about it. And I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a birthday. This is the theme because you’re turning 60 right. And we have Jamie Lee Curtis on

Baltic such a way to you, by the way, guys are are besties. Well, Jamie Knight, ironically, interesting late. Well, not recently, and it was one of these things where we have mutual friends and I want to talk to her and then she called me

And we stay on the phone. I don’t know an hour. And just what like took the elevator down to also do so quickly. And by the end of it, it was where he been all my life. I love you. I’m now were texting each other. I would say she is somebody that

I feel most connected to. She’s talking about that kind of yeah. Patients must say she’ll this moment in time and just body in her 60’s. And as you tiptoe into your cities like you said, this is this is like cause for celebration is

Cause and what it’s what it is is an happening owning all of ourselves and having the space to love and appreciate all of these things that we may have exercised are judged. But the idea and it is owning it and having compassion, it’s almost like a maternal feelings that we have with all

Our different parts and pieces. And I think that’s that’s what so exciting. Now, this is such a there are so many big moments for you recently. I know you talked about this a lot, but in People magazine, you brought up this important part

Of your life that you kept. Yeah, way that you were raped a a long time ago, but wounds are still there and you finally named it. And that was the part of the article that struck me the most. You said it out loud. You made excuses about it.

Maybe it wasn’t. That wasn’t such a big deal. But why was that so important to call it out? Well, if it’s interesting, one of my best friends on this Earth for the last couple years. And and she’s somebody who turned 16 recently, her name is Virgina. And she would always say to me,

She just grabbed means you got you name it. What’s your first said it? I wasn’t even sure that I fully understand that. But, you know, there’s moments in our life for people give us this gifts of with stop him and then we grow act them right. The penny drops.

That was so important for me to write that article for that reason. Exactly. 2 main that. But also I said a man raped me. I wasn’t right and rate. There’s a big difference. I thought Liz McNeil, I’m just going to say talk about naming things. People magazine

Handled it with such grace and respect tenderness the way that any survivor should be dealt with in our society. And it was so beautiful that was so beautiful. And I felt that they were exemplary with how this subject should be that Southwest. And I’m really

Grateful and I honor them for that. And how does that can shut this process contribute to your healing? His healing can take a long time in a lifetime and some of the feels like it could happen instantaneously. Yeah, you know, I think it’s a

Matter of physics, right? There’s like them. If we hold the weight, it’s very have a right. But it’s sad. And we all hold a piece of that. We carry out for each other and our society. It’s not as happy. And so for me naming it was

Some really powerful. And um, I feel lighter and it was time not to carry that it took a certain maturity and compassion. And I was listening to and most importantly of the sun to myself. And and that’s what I urge people to do is honor and listen, really listen. So that little voice

That we all carry show guide to it. Well, the sister beautiful like this and life’s work rush to smash the and also as Olivia Benson, who we love so much to so many beautiful conversation. And you almost are about to get out of here without hold. And I

F****** you about Stabler and Benson. >> He got there because, you know, even funny you mention that it’s a nice he wants it to happen is all I’m telling you. I heard so give the people what they want. Wait a minute. Could just talk about your sweet fo. Can we talk about or

Certainly? Yeah. Haha turns going going for coverage. Keep up with a lot of buzz. >> Here and we’ve got a there. >> We’re doing a segment on boost this morning. I was out. I mean, you’re R it so well to tell you. I inspo S. >> So I just

Found this photo of my mother when she was 8 years old. I brought it all out. Oh, my God bowls and unjust and did thing this photo of this little precious girl. And I was like. >> It’s here’s the deal. You know, you don’t get

Yourself in a box. You are. But when you’re right, you’re right about Iraq of all. You know what you know you do when you’re sick. Stay what rock above rock about. We’re picked a also rock over a scout. I was so much to admire

You deeply to play fall 20th season. A lot asked you what an accomplishment kicks off tonight down tight. 98 central Baja have does not run. She does not. >> Let’s that’s out of the Baha. I start. I want you I think is right. >> I miss you so much. Delicious.

>> The morning. My beautiful to be really, really, really. >> All pass it off and have everybody here. All right. So this is such a fun show that you love that. So what you’ve got to talking about the BOE situation, it’s about to be

Real from Savannah tumor issue to a lot of other people. Bowser back the perfect for special occasions for any occasion, really for any age and elves. Digital director Claire Stern will show us. >> How to haul off the hottest looks. Okay. It is those go.

We’re just getting started. Folks questions. What can fans expect us for getting there? >> It’s a Friday. There it is right here. >> Welcome back this morning on TODAY, star while Chris, how to No, it’s our segment. I yeah. I think about I was I end up in

A boat. Okay. I’m never ever be. If dropped a bias hair accessory that has everyone in not about that. >> We couldn’t get enough of your recent look, I’ve been loving your boost. I look then today it was like the perfect storm issue had a bow

On Clair Stern else. Digital director is here to walk us through the hair bow trends and how to meet the moment for. So I cannot believe this moment happened on the show. Everything was just it was meant to end on this segment,

Right? Yes, and it is no death. So OK, so here’s the thing. I mean, those are super cute, but I’m sure many people are like what is the 52 year-old woman in my case doing wearing like a bow that, you know, you think about we think of being

Kind of young? Yeah. Maybe even 20. So can anyone rochambeau? Absolutely. It’s definitely a nostalgia fuel track. But the bouquets really originated on the runways. So designers like Simon, Russia and Sandy Liang and then trickled to the red carpet. We recently saw it on by a leaky at the Emmys.

It’s really a time for everywhere, Jessica, that I had a long day at so pretty. Okay. So what are we seeing that table like? What are the different incarnations so many ways to wear that? You have of Susan Alexander over here, Jennifer Behr and they would love. Haha, I have an idea and

Just clipped out on. I think I will write that while he was a good ball for Hodes. I care doesn’t really where Bo ahead and allow that. Yeah. This mop. There’s no way. Haha, it’s really something for everyone here. You’ve got clipped by

Turner. A bigger boost. Is it good that is Q you’re you’re going to so sparkly. All right. Just look at some of our beautiful models and let’s go through her friends while she was definitely located. So they by the way, these are all

Normal today show staff kaylie why this is Q. This is a boost. Crunchy. Yes, yes. Show it high. This post on she by a release to do the is. >> Definitely a cheat code for that, right. And so you can pull your hair and to a night I could do that high ponytail.

And it just, you know, instantly turns a lazy hair day and 2 out. Cool up to okay. I just wish I just again. This is not your this looks like Hello, Kitty. I’m just saying like, look, it’s a work in progress.

OK? I love the bow by looks. Really cute. Okay. Let’s go to Kate. The arts for new and it still we all know for a food stylist. Tell me about your boat. I was on the side that scores on the site home. Maybe that’s your lot now.

Not for me. It looks good. It was like a bird. >> But yes, okay. These are for us from anthropology and Savannah. I know we’re at your place of work. So you’re a pro in this category it. But we clipped to the side on the part

Right here, these little west of hair. And it just makes it look instantly cook had to issue. I love that. You’re OK had issue with the American girl doll. >> You? I don’t think it’s too to know. Yeah. Yeah. It’ll touch ok? A long bow which I’ve never got to that swivel you

Around it. This long Bao you might know the brand health house from the viral. Not just they’ve gotten into the bowl games. So here we have a long out again that just makes her look polish. Yeah, half up to and this is the story of a girl

With long hair. Gorgeous here. It can long hair. Definitely those with short hair girls can we wear? But like that, I think it’s better for Long Island really choose your own adventure. And that was only about let’s go. This is a play

About. So this one is a bit of a splurge at over $100 by Susan Alexandra, Handmaiden York City. I would clip it to the top and it just adds a bit of drama. Well, you know what? It’s like. You can wear something super plane and where

That boat and yeah they want. Have we sold you on it? I’ll try one. But how would I wear it? Pull your hair out what you do. I think you what I want to do. Like a little half up half down. Cuteness like they see how it’s like a partial.

Okay. Yeah. And then put the little boat. Okay. I’m going to picture here. We’re going to show back. Thank you so much. Clear. Yeah. Thank you so much. You can find all of these products today dot com slash shot with students. Here comes that. All right, Carson, where are you?

>> I’m going to take your 5 minutes of Tebow talk and we’re going to raise it. 5 minutes of delicious steak about top. We’ve got the one only Mike Soleimani off here. Chef is main a restaurant where the steak dinner and you can make

It your own kitchen. That’s coming up. But first, this is today on NBC. All right. We’re back with today’s food. If you’re looking to tweak that usual dinner menu, we’ve got some recipes to shake up your routine. James Beard, Award-winning chef Michael Soleimani office here. We’ve got the kebab and Hamas

That you can make it home inspired by his popular restaurant Laser will chef, great to have you here. Thanks so much. Business or these good. The restaurant says Grant, we’re doing great. We’re having a really good time. I also have to say you cross my last name right now

Ahead, did so well so well. I’m glad you got your tongue part of selling. Also good. Nobody ever does not really. I’m honored special about out. >> All right. So listen, we’re going make some distribution, sleek. Yeah. All right. Which are cubes of beef. Now you can

Use check in. You can use if you can use brush or we can use whatever you want, but what we want to make. This is fantastic marinade, which is Theresa Red Peppers. Anya is a little bit car luck to you. And some tomato paste are already eating down.

>> Her second place and so glad my all Yahoo. A laser Wolf. >> Is one of the best restaurants in New York City hoping it’s an experience. I highly recommend anyone going. Listen, I I’m happy that you said that. You know, I don’t I I agree with you. I think her Esther on.

>> It’s amazing. You. Yes. Tell people home like this might be intimidating to them because they’re so because what you’re making end of the kebab stand this marinade. >> But this is easy steps to super is. You just saw its peppers onions, some spices, some garlic and the ideas that

We’re going to blend this to make it look kind of like this poncho Nevarez. But you do want to, you know, you want it. You want America to be for the first how long in America about. So we’re going to see a couple a couple hours. All

Right. But like I said, you can use chicken. You can use avenue can Israeli whatever you want. And just this marinade letting its it is going to make it taste incredible, not Lazar, Wolf. Brooklyn, we cooked over charcoal, but you can use a

Point where you can use it all than just totally fine. The marinade is what’s important. We tether the meat so easy to get cars is doing. So we’re going to secure at we’re going to let it chill and then we’re going to boil it. And then you

Have these amazing, amazing kabobs when it’s done on the broiler. But it looks a little chart on the outside. But as a cook all the way through kabobs, I like I like, like medium to medium, rare, but you can really do whatever you want. But you obviously if using checking, you’re going to

Cut through. We’re talking about a difference of a few minutes. Not a big deal with that. We’re going to serve. We’re going to be a little on this case. You’re going to Simon that while we do this. All right. So we’re going to

Cost. But how good. My gosh. Okay. Good garlic lovers are, quote, led to another bit of cloud. Really tender. All right. Everyone is quiet over there it. Yeah, as you said, that this is stolen. Oh, yeah. But like I said, you can use whatever you want. Higher stake is really good, too. Salt.

Cumin, lemon, garlic. Now we’re going to buzz this up first because what the car looked across a little bit on. All right, the having that, Rog roll a taste, of course, is not what you want, right? All right. So we’re going to just do this for a second,

OK chaser, the pro tips right there. This is the pro temp. You don’t want garlic breath. 3 days after you made your homeless by some people like right now, we’re going to put it in our Tina, which is streets us with this, which is

Delicious. And then we’re going to add a little bit of ice water to make it really, really fluffy. Okay. That’s the key. You want to be really, really good to see. You know, when your mind is close and you mix it and you’re like, I think I

Just made peanut butter. That’s also not what we want is we want to with that option. We let this go. We need some more hair a little bit earlier. You can see it screen was so smooth. Now all you have to do

Is add your canned chickpeas to this. Yes, and let’s take it down. But there’s another chickpeas are. Yeah. Well, this is an amazing sauce. If you want to get in a sauce just with the steak or chicken, totally fine. You want to make

Like like a vegan like green goddess dressing. This is yeah. Tonight we’re going to let this of this for 3 minutes more. >> Either on store bought Thomas. But like you can make it home and you make it home this different than it was. It was not hard.

>> I’ve actually been made this. Yeah. We call a 5 minute house made 3 and a half minutes with 1, 1, tips ahead. Wow. So you can do it. What? We’re all right. We’ve got to is a little bit awkward for my eyebrows and my hair when it

Comes to talk a lot. But that’s okay to charge different time to finally make sure you are like the fall of oil, some deal. Whatever mushrooms, you why just looks at the motions on everything. And then we’re just going to like split right

On the spot. Lewis shot. I mean, it’s just so special. Love the yeah. That’s a little. >> Yeah. I mean, right into that whole next. You can do that. You can eat on the run. Mike’s, thank you so much. Going to be cooking with Hoda Jenna. Later, why? You’re

Double dipping this morning. He’s got a really jumped out at today. Dot com slash food guys. I mean, yeah. >> 10 out of Tahoe Basin. All right. We’re back with first at your local news. Thanks, just. >> They say it’s. I’m a good day.

>> So today, every day we are adding to the stars are in our studio. The biggest days only today. I mean, certainly. >> How do you feel at this age? The state liberated. Just start post a*** sex with us begin every what you’re talking about

>> This morning on the 3rd hour of today, while health concerns Princess Kate in the hospital following abdominal surgery. Her recovery expected to last month’s as King Charles prepares for his own procedure next week. We’re live in London with the very latest. Plus, Ali loves here. Switching up our winter wellness routines

From South Care. The kitchen you a better night’s sleep. Then later, 2 big stars dropping by studio. One a I love Fisher on her new series that will leave you howling. I don’t have a mother a wolf. Gary, neither do you. And Lala

Anthony is live to fill us in on the return of her hit show. Sheriff citing announcement today Thursday, 1/18/2024? live from Studio One a in Rockefeller Plaza. This is the 3rd hour of today to Thursday morning. Welcome to this 3rd hour of today, Crouch. Well, good morning. Hey, they’re all

Going to check in with Dylan. She’s down in Florida on a junket in just a moment with golf junket. We can call it. >> Sure. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. But we are going to start this hour with those royal health concerns that you’ve been

Hearing about over the last 24 hours or so. Prince’s Kate. It is in the hospital this morning. Kensington Palace revealed that she had abdominal surgery and she could be hospitalized for up to 2 weeks. Meanwhile, King Charles also preparing for a medical procedure next week. NBC’s

Molly Hunter over the pond in London following it all for us. Hey, Molly, good morning. What do we know? >> Hey, guys, good morning. All of the health news. And I’ve got to say to major royal health announcement on the same day is extremely rare. Talking about Kate’s condition, though.

It sounds really serious, Craig, as you mentioned, 10 to 14 days in the hospital, another 3 months out of public view. And Kensington Palace is not telling us why she needed that surgery this morning. Prince William visiting wife Kate, who is spending a second day recovering in the hospital

After what Kensington Palace calls a successful planned abdominal surgery saying she will likely remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days. Rare, lengthy stay. A source at Kensington Palace confirms her condition is non cancerous. I wish Kate. Well, I think he’s a fantastic princess. So foster

Corey pretty she’s going to pay. The palace also says she’ll now cancel all events until after Easter a long time to be out of you for the most popular royal. >> You know, I was told that she had a very packed schedule coming up between now and Issa was very much looking forward

To it. Now, it’s just a couple of weeks back. So things have obviously made fairly quickly. >> He has long been seen as healthy. Very sporty. I think that the benefits of exercise of religion really awful schools in I know swimming pa standoffs flamingos in a cold environment.

>> With no known health issues outside of the much publicized extreme morning sickness with all 3 pregnancies hospitalized for want. >> And last week on her 42nd birthday, the royal family posted this behind the scenes snap from King Charles’s coronation. No inkling that anything might be wrong.

We last saw Kate celebrating Christmas with the whole family at Sandringham. And the statement adds she hopes that the public will understand the desire to maintain as much normality for children as possible. George Charlotte and of course, little Louis are at the center of their lives.

And Prince William will also postpone events to support his family. Also yesterday in a stunning second royal health statement in one day, Buckingham Palace announced King Charles will have a corrective procedure next week for an enlarged prostate. His majesty’s condition is benign. The palace says reassuring news for the 75 year-old monarch.

>> The 9 that is the big reassuring word. We hear it. We heard from by campus about King Charles. He will also be postponing some engagement over the next week or Sue week or so while he recovers. But as these are a lot of high profile visit

Faces out of you, Prince William, we know will not be holding any engagements. Will wife, Kate, is in the hospital and over the next couple of months, he’ll really be scaling back as well to support his family. We also know from Kensington Palace that there will be no

International travel for either the Prince or Princess of Wales in the next couple of months. >> You guys. All right, Molly, thank you. We’re all human. We ought to take care of ourselves. And let’s bring in Doctor Roshni Raj, a gastroenterologist and associate professor of medicine at NYU Langone Health. Good

Morning to you. Good morning. You not feel I you know, we don’t want to speculate, but that, you know, they say that she has this plan. Abdominal surgery. It’s so broad. What could that include? I think what’s gotten my attention is the of the stay.

>> Was it all the hospitals? I am to be a bit long. So although surgery really refers to an interview where they are cutting into the abdomen, specifically abdominal wall muscles. And that’s really what takes the longest to recover. There could be a lot of pain there. You can imagine whenever

You’re moving your using those muscles. So takes a while and could take up to 3 months to really get back to 100% function. But the hospital stay. But they’re saying up to 2 weeks seems a bit long. Usually at least in the U.S. we

Would say probably 3 to 7 days after Donald surgery, right? It could be I don’t want to spend. I know beyond things fall letter to it. Yeah, says to, you know, and you trust this man knows. But you know, I it does seem a bit long,

Especially because she seems so young and healthy. On the other hand, maybe they just want to be extra careful, I’m sure, very safe setting. And you know, so so and probably for her, because she’s going to events for maybe just stand for

Long periods of time. And she does want to push it or be out there, which is not looking to feeling about cell. >> Hard to say. Let’s let’s turn to the king for a moment here controls. I mean, it sounds like this is fairly routine for him and his absolutely. And it’s

>> nice that he’s being open about it because it lets men realize this is very common. It’s something that almost just considered a normal part of aging. The prostate does grow as and then gets older. And if it’s in large us to the point where it’s causing urinary issues, some people seek

Treatment and that could be medications, sometimes procedures or even surgeries. Usually they’re fairly routine. And that’s why we’re hearing that his recovery is going to be a lot shorter. But I’m sure he’ll do fine and it is extremely common and fairly routine and his age.

>> Thank you, Doctor. Thank you, Doctor Ash. All right. And now to the reason the 4th member of our team is not here. Dylan is down in Orlando, Florida with a well-timed trip to tee it up with celebrities and golf pros participating in

The event that kicks off the LPGA Tour season. The Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of champions. Dylan has her husband down there at Bryan has catty. And so this is the ultimate boondoggle. Haha. >> Yeah, Brian, Brian likes to get in on these things, too is

My caddie. But, you know, this is the kickoff of my boondoggle season to be honest. But more importantly, this tournament is also the kickoff for the LPGA season. So it’s really a fun tournament for fans to come out here because they’re about 29

LPGA players. You can see a lot of them behind me here getting some practice on the putting green. But they play alongside about 56 or so celebrities from TV, entertainment music athletes. And it’s it’s fun for everybody to watch some really good golf and get some autographs while they’re

Walking around out here to everybody. A little bundled up more. So I’d say than usual than what you’d expect in Orlando yesterday. It was really cold to start off the day. But on Sunday morning, it’s going to be about 37 degrees in the morning. So not quite what you’d expect for

Florida today. It times at 10, 15. It’s starting to warm up a little bit more, but I don’t quite know what happened. Maybe because I talk about golf so much that I fold everyone here that I’m good at golf because I’m actually playing with John Smoltz.

You know him as a former pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, but also Brooke Henderson, she won this event last year. So I don’t really know how I got into this pairing, but I’ll be the one, you know, often the trees just tragic. Don’t mind

Me. So another shot at selling is we’ll see how this all goes today. I saw on Instagram yesterday. >> Your troubles one-year clubs. It looks like it broke in half like you’re like he manner she or something. What happened? >> Yeah. If only I was that strong. If only there was a

Better story behind all this. Like, you know, I got mad at Bryan for being a terrible caddie or something. But no. So all you are you are asking me on Instagram. So their ropes, that kind of tie off, you know, somewhere where

People can stand and we kind of went under the rope and our golf cart and then Brian looks, he’s like, what’s that sound? And that’s like this slow cracking sound as my 5 wood just cracked in half. It just got stuck on a rope silly about

It. But I turns out I’m not the only one who did that and also have a new approach yesterday, too. So I’m not alone. I’m doing what the pros are doing. >> I don’t go under the road. That’s yeah. The new 5 would

Anyway. She’s been practicing. I just want to know how it’s going cause you to seriously. I did. I want to not be in last place for just the first time in one of these golf tournament. So I’ve been practicing a little bit more. I’m trying to get my mind,

Right? I feel good. I played pretty well yesterday. My putting was good enough. I can keep that going today. I’ll I’ll be happy. I just want to not be in last place. Pictures that we’re seeing. But they look legit like Yahoo. The frame love. Thanks so much. Yes. Alright. Della Sera

Photographers help. All right. And you can watch the LPGA Tour. >> Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions today through Sunday across NBC Golf Channel and Peacock actually go home and watch, though. I mean, it doesn’t cool. That’s really cool. Up next, though, another really cool and also

Eye-opening. Look at the invisible hand that shaping what we all see on social media, how the algorithm works and how you can actually take control over your feet. And then later, the cause is yeah, I love fish. Join us live to fill us in on her new series. So let’s just say.

>> Hurt her just got a 3rd big secret. Deep rift over that 30 hour setback. >> We’re back with one of our favorite correspondents who also back with a look at the technology that determines what we see on social media. And however feeds can go from

Entertainment to potentially harmful in just a few clicks. ABC senior tech correspondent Jake Ward here in the studio to break down where these algorithms are taking this. I think most folks know sort of the idea of some sense of it, right, that the algorithm is guiding this short. Probably

Not the extent that that’s so curious about, OK, great. Well, I’m so glad. I mean, you know, it is I think somewhat common knowledge that our social media feed is controlled by an algorithm. But what is that and who controls it and how do we keep dangerous and unwanted caught in a way?

There are some things we can do. But very few of us understand exactly just how precise and how powerful these algorithms can be. A very from puppies. >> To memes Americans average more than 2 hours a day. Scrolling content said to us through algorithms based on our

Specific interests and past online activity. But a growing chorus of critics warns that algorithms can lead us to disturbing places and making bad choices. These algorithms, they are the digital equivalent of AR Fifteen’s. Some public figures are demanding regulations. They ought to be

Banned. They really ought to be banned. It’s an abuse of the public forum. This TikTok user highlighting some of that criticism. And I don’t actually care, but this kind of content if you care so little why we poking around in the comments section then. So how effective are these algorithms? Think

About it this way, a grocery store like this one only knows what you are interested in once you’ve bought something. But a social media company knows every time you pause even for a moment to look at anything and you constantly reorganizes the store to be more attractive to you. And

That’s why our them during companies billions each year. But they can also lead us astray in just 3 clicks. I can go from date night ideas to mind control seduction. China has censored social media for years and the EU recently passed laws guaranteeing people the right to opt out about

Them. Both sides of the aisle here have taken up the question regulation but no new laws have emerged in. So why is the U.S. so far behind it just becomes a >> diff definitional issue. So what people’s eyes? We disagree on the specifics of regulation. We don’t want it to

Be overwrought. But in reality, people are afraid of crossing powerful interest groups, business groups, technology, lobbyists. >> That leaves us to figure it out ourselves. Now you can limit your exposure by turning off the algorithm and Facebook and Instagram on YouTube. You can turn off autoplay and

Sign out which limits its ability to track you and TikTok. Well, you can reset the algorithm if you don’t like what feeds you. I think it’s important to recognize that, yes, we have some agency, but also these systems are constantly making decisions until some national standards emerge. It is you against the algorithm.

Now, the thing to understand you guys write is that this is fundamentally a business and that’s a business of attention. The more that you linger even for a moment on something emotionally heightened or offensive, the more you’re going to get that kind of emotional, offensive contents.

What’s important to understand that try and pull back from it where you can. We have some control here. >> But it really has all everything to do about how you advertise yourself yourself so that cities like it follows your thoughts. You can lie to it because they see where you

Linger. Well, that’s where is this going like you talk about, you know, 2024 beyond. >> Well, yeah, I mean, you say follow your thoughts. I mean, this is, you know, that sounds like a lot, but it is really where it’s going to be back. In 2015, Mark Zuckerberg

Famously talked about one to figure out the the mass of humans and their relationships. And that is what everybody’s trying to do. And now, as we’re getting into these processors that are put right against Erskine in something like a watch or meta has these ray ban sunglasses, they’re trying to

Get Apple is working on this vision, pro headset. All of that is getting up close. Just get in there to start monitoring. You know what you like where your eyes are going. What gets your heart rate going? The UN now assist that

They’re after is only going to get deeper. You know, the one of the things I think one of the things I find most troubling about it is and you point this out to appease a little countries, you can opt out of the staff. Yes, I mean,

So much to me because in the United States, we’ve talked to the pastor much about how we should not regulate this because China will get out in front of us trying to actually regulate heck out of this right now. You know, in the EU,

You can say off to me out of the algorithms here in the states. It’s just wild West. Yes, Frank, good to know. >> Thanks for sparing. Well, coming up, we know we like the the algorithm to bring us more. I love fish. Yeah, I guess what

She’s here. She’s live talking about her new Peacock series, a role she really sunk her teeth into then we’ll explain later. Our pal Allie Love is here to improve our winter wellness ritual, including a cool way to give you a new system. A boost 3rd hour today will be right back.

>> We are back with a talented actress who is taking on a wild brawl. Iowa Fisher made us laugh. And box office hits like Wedding Crashers opposite Vince Vaughn. And she showed off her dramatic side as Myrtle. And the Great Gatsby was great.

>> Well, now she started the Josh Gad the peacock series, Wolf, Like Me to play a couple navigating one. Hillary obstacle, every full moon I was scared to marry. >> Turns into will. Well, guess what? Now? There’s a baby on the way. So there are even more of notes.

>> No, I mean, you don’t know that none of the heist was OK, we could be having a baby can could be having a Wolf. I don’t have a mother a wolf. Gary, neither do you then. Let’s get the ultrasound. Okay. We just need to know exactly what is

Going on in there. Then we can start worrying about everything else. For example. Did you know that? It’s possible for Wolf to give birth up to 10 bumps? >> All this is terrific. I mean, is the second season for the show and you you turn into a Wolf once a month.

Yeah, which is with that let you know what’s going to be what’s coming. >> So what was it about this? And maybe just seems like it is rife with comedy. I mean, the clip that you just saying is very well, Wolf, heavy, but I will say that, well, it is just

A metaphor for the baggage that we bring into relationships. And this story is a love story between, you know, Marion, Gary and and and his door to. And it really is just a genre bending very cool. I’m, you know, odd bit of material that

Everybody just loves. And we’ve got really quite where he is. And we love making it. And it’s just a it’s a really fun show. And the second series is definitely it’s a big well. Now they have small obstacle. Someone in Marias pass comes

Back. And yes, a ticking clock, the cops chasing us. And so it’s just a it’s a really fun ride this season. >> The well, Wolf, is that if we do not know, yeah, so that the show takes place in Australia. Obvious from the strong Australian. Is it more difficult to use an American

Accent when you’re short because your kids? Yeah. >> More difficult when you’re surrounded by Australian. That’s absolutely they you know that direct don’t come up to all off the speed one. Yeah. And then I hear that. Have to do my America. I can’t like got yeah. It was definitely a it

Was the most challenging time. I’ve had a dialect coach of ah. Yes. Haha. >> I thought about that. Yeah. Tell me what it’s like working with Josh Gad. >> Josh Gad as a pest. In the end, he’s just the funniest sweetest guy. We have the similar sense of humor and teen

Is a really I trust him is the same pot not completely. But in this role as Gary, he really is exceptional. It has really got he brought so much to this dramatic role that may add haven’t seen him do that or he’s ready. And yeah.

>> Yeah. When you work with Josh Gad in a way, you’ve got a bonus point. I would think if you’ve got kids because you’re working with Olof from fellow, did your kid or your kids impressed? >> Yeah. And he does requests is one of those guys that you

Never have to be embarrassed asking. He’ll do like a friend of your nephews, cousins, Neva and he’ll leave a full voice. Hugs is like the best. I liked him. But that just like yeah. And she has done nothing for frozen character to have.

I want to show you something. I don’t know if you’re aware of this. >> The name I love. It’s become wildly popular in this country and we did some research when you started. That’s when you started that in 2008, when you start popping up here in America,

Noticed a correlation between where I love the came in terms of popularity ranking 15 years ago. I was down around, you know, somewhere between 6, 7, 100 now. >> It’s one of the top 10 names in America was taking credit

For. I do. I mean, I don’t know about that. But as that’s very flattering that you think I should get credit about. Absolutely. I don’t know that we should note story on on on. I’m named after the island of I lay in in Scotland, which is

Where they make whisk in. My dad is a big was a big risky drink up. But I actually love that everyone’s Cold Island now because I’ve I’ve had friends that have mispronounce my name sometimes being is and I feel really cell phone just

Correcting that. They just say one of these is love and then it’s gone so far. And, you know, kids have had so many playdates that I just adds that it is live now. So I’m relieved in a way that that now everyone dies at it. And whoever’s

Watching right now is when calling is let alone. >> I thought, well, I live is always good to have you. Not also thank you to see it. And season 2 of Wolf, like me streaming right now on Peacock, part of our parent company, NBC Universal.

>> All right. Just ahead, our friend Allie Love is here to revamp. >> Our winter wellness routine. From skin care to sleep health. And then later long live the knee of live today in Studio. One, a sharing a fun new announcement that you want to

Hear before you plan your next getaway. We’ll be right back. >> Heading into the heart of winter. Just look at the monitor and just like we saw on the war on drugs in the colder months with the switch about teens as well. So he was ideas

To do that. He was an idea to improve out. Winter wellness today. Contributor Peloton Syncytial. Ali Loves you so much. Thank you so much. So before we dig into some of these ideas here like the winter blues or an actual thing, yes, any advice for folks who think they might be

Starting to experience this winter? >> Absolutely. I think the number one thing to keep in mind is that you want to get out of the house. I know that doesn’t feel good when it’s cold but you want to get with friends. You want to go to dinner. Went last night with my

Golf as a dinner. Reinvigorate 3 energizes you and overall it helps your mental well-being and granted when you are Snowden, you’re like I love. I can’t get out of the house. Get somebody on a zoom or on FaceTime. Just set a date with them having that at least once a week.

>> Would be very helpful. Hero Ball missed was sure. Let’s start with taking here in the kitchen where we have to OK? So with the winter blues, sometimes you want to remember to spice up your life. It’s a wet forecast. We’ve got good

Friends. We go out. We have a good time. But spice up your life inside. So we have our spices here. Tim, Rick anti-inflammatory rosemary into are great for the immunity. You have caught him on antioxidants, nutmeg rate for sleet and then you have some staff on here which is great

For cramps out. What you want to think of spicing is adding it to your food. A little bit goes a long way. One of my favorites and is really popular on social media immunity cues. So all of the ingredients here which will pop up on the

Screen. You have ginger orange lemon coconut know all you do is when these all together you can take the skin off when it all together and then put the kids in the freezer. What you can do from there, you can add it to your T get your smoothie.

You can blend into your smoothie and it’s giving you that boost the spices go a long way. So yeah, this is I was a great crowd was given to the side. I about this. But again, this is something that Mister Metabolism thinking. I want to kick start your metabolism in the morning

After I go for my walk our great because once it’s in the freezing, just pop it out on the DUP. All just yes. Well done. All right. So I’ve never sure that somebody get a little personal, OK, I have this thing when it comes to me what I’m

Concerned about bad breath all the time. And I don’t want my breath. It’s not that we talked to a lot of people that’s in our wheelhouse. And so in the morning I switched my routines in the winter. Most important I introduce saline base like

Nasal spray. And the reason for that is the air is so cold outside and you think about it inside you have your heat blasting. It’s also like so dry ridge just characterize outside. Yeah, it’s cold or hot. So into it again nasal spray that’s only just salt water. This is basically salt

Water. It clears out. The nasal passages helps if you have any sinuses and also to alcohol-free mouthwash, less chemicals. A little bar. Don’t gentler for that routine in the Morning Jack. Yeah, we know into the the Alcohol for. Yeah. Yeah. And then hydrogen station on your face

Moisturizer. I love a little. I can’t get to Mexico all the time and went or what I do is I’ll take my I’ll take a little bit of a bronze Aranda hair thing. Yeah, no way. Are you kidding? Yeah. But then you and I I do with my finger. Look at

Me. This is all you do. You’ve been to a bronze or with the moisture? Yes. And that weight off to work foundation nothing. But that was a bit on that yet. I was going to say, and that’s why look a little town with that. Yes, so again, these are

Ways and then also hydration primers. Great. So you do put on makeup where you have on brought more foundation, a primer that is hydrating is really important. So I think of that. Introducing into your morning routine and idea front than the summer. What about sleep is the winter. If there

Was a Guinness Book of World Records on who can state really quickly Hong and efficient, it’s me I well. Yeah. Wow. All the rage are Sleepy Girl Mocktail Sleepy Girl. Yeah. Those who are looking for is what set up so chart tart cherry juice. A little sparkling water. As you can

See, you cry because it’s I mean, as you can see all because of our show and then in there it’s magnesium. A little bit of tower. That is good. He’s my abs. Remember that have melatonin and it’s does help with something. And then ash

Wanda, great for stress relief calming down. This is coming off. What Panthers from that is. You know, haha against just leave. And then break sleep hole. 68 degrees of cooling blanket goes a long way. You know the cooler. The temperature not only to sleep longer but you have this REM

Sleep and it’s like these are all winter hacks that will be used to unity. It make you feel great and get you ready, energized for the next day and throughout the day. These are really good. >> And so so you just uses. Just put it off.

>> When you play out, Craig, there’s nothing to this. It just literally cover up with it has been dropping and you can put a drop in your water. These are gummies and then you can take supplement. What does it do? I want to help with stress, really and anxiety. So it’s a

>> for house wanted forever. Haha, lot of these are all small tweaks. We should mention that you should consult with your doctor before making major changes to your routine. Absolutely. All right. Switch it up a little bit. We have to take care of ourselves and have to remind myself to kind of slow down sometimes and take some time to myself and as a mom and as a warm. And I think we forget that sometimes. So it’s just a

Looks good to talk a little bit about different types of friends because and, you know, the type of friend that’s just brutal, absolute honesty because, for example, this friend of mine right here said in verbatim these words to me. Did you get your hair? Your hair looks great. You have

Highlighted. Thank goodness. It was about time. What I do and it’s about time. I did not add. It was about time. They came out a year. Now. I did. I say that you’re like, well, you know what? We need to make that you did need it like when I yes.

What question would you say that too? Every single person are just very close friends in an interesting yeah becomes yes here. Well, because it’s not your business if someone else does. But I I look at your business that, yeah, Yahoo or my this Netanyahu day. Yeah. You’re not saying I’m saying

Just like you’re looking at my going, wow. When she ever going to reach them and I did. Why didn’t say that? Because I thought your hair looks great. I’m not pushing you into the other things that people are pushing you into a multi one

Minute. Well, I heard of the earlier hours that Savannah push you into a bow. Yeah. You know, I like about you’d Iraq about not everybody’s of person. Everybody to vote for it. Okay. If you’re not. I know. And they’re trying to force their 4th wedding. You. Yeah. They’re putting you

A little bow on your head. Speaking of. Okay. So your son. Wow. Yeah. Who is how old? Ice? 4 and a half. One. Half. Sweet. Sweet. Happy. Yes. House been in a crib since birth until about a week ago. Yes, I was like, yeah, I was quarantine. You were

Quarantine. What we know? Is that ways? Yes. You know, I have the COVID. Yeah. Pushed away into my room watching all that was on television. Everything and how was free to be me himself. That’s true. Not meant to be. You know me. Well, yeah. And so Henry, we heard him take data

Anyone and he said I’m ready. And I said, what are you ready for what he said? I need to move into my big boy bad. So the big boy that’s been weightings just been in this realm for about 2 years. Yeah, little angel. How? But it all happened without his mother’s help.

And that leads me to wonder if I’m too overbearing. Haha, when it comes just ahead of the other side. >> He left the bay. It’s so funny because sometimes when we’re out of the picture, yeah, I think nothing. No change. They’re going to have happened without our.

>> Urging I cheering our guidance. I mean, I was now college Cheney and really the whole community and Shannen Doherty a little. And I said, OK, how I think it’s time. Some friends have said it’s a time when he was not ready.

He was scared. I love he. He really did tell you what he was ready. Yes, and what difference does it make if he sent a crib or in a bag and when he’s 20’s not to remember he was in the bed police 4 and a half. Well, remember because,

Hey, we have to talk about Sofia Vergara. Yeah, she is. She is incredible. And a new role on Netflix’s called Gris Adela. I can’t Wait to see. Yeah. It’s a crime boss. Yeah. It does look good. So she stopped by Fallon and she opened up.

>> About something, you know, she was with Joe Manganiello for years. They broke up and now she’s opening up about dating being single in New York City. Take a look. >> But I think that you have more options with man also. So you’re seeing and so you knew your there’s more people.

And there’s not only like that at the resort, you know, right or directors. And there’s I think there’s like a bigger I’m going to spend more time in New York. Real so people just incident just a few. They’re interested in. Yeah. And also it’s great food. Here you are, too. That’s great

Food for going to go out and dates is better. Yes. >> She really is ready. She’s ready. She is right. I wish I’d somebody to introduce her to who, you know, you know, people. >> I don’t know. I may be. So yes, she’s fab there.

Lived it? I truly understood that it is indeed a New Yorkers or so open a new rub up against them. And they tell you what they think could tell you their opinions. And so, yeah, haha. Yeah, but they’ve been so incredibly. You know, I have a

Question for Gavin Lux. He’ll have a question about the 25 years because I was thinking about any relationship for 25 years is beautiful, but also. >> Sometimes relationships get stale. They have to be rejuvenated. It’s not always a steady track. Like wild keeps getting better and better. Yeah. How did that 25 year,

Mark Playout? >> For you? Well, that’s a really great question. You know, I’ve I’ve obviously been reflecting it because we’ve been talking about it so much. And for me, obviously, it’s unprecedented in most anxious to get an opportunity to have this kind of longevity in a relationship

Like that certainly on camera. But one of the greatest things for me at is the friendships and one of the biggest gifts for me is the friendships and some of the most important people and the closest people in my life or from the show

From different time. And that’s been the thing is people going, oh, my God. How do you do it? 25 years and I say, well, because I’ve been on about what feels like 7 different show. Yeah, that’s right. So there was the first iteration incarnations. And so

Heard that what you know, but when when season 12 season 13, everything change. Yeah. And got a whole new cast. A whole new vibe of the show. And and you know, Kelly came yeah. And Danny Green. Okay. Yeah. And then and it was

Utterly different and we had a new crew and we have new writers. Yeah. And so here I was. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everything felt new. And then again, it changed again and the river, you know, roll years. And then there are so many different times. And then, you know, Peter Scan Aveeno came to

Expand. You know, these these people. >> I I cannot count my blessings are too many to count with the love and relationships and into and intimacy and because of the subject matter how we get so much closer and drop and so much more quickly than I think otherwise. Yeah, it’s been

So incredibly nurturing and filling and magnificent. You also met your husband which must be just such a beautiful the part of that history when you are celebrating 20. Yeah. How do you keep that? How do you keep that new and fresh? And and you know, I I feel

I’m at a point in my life or I I can’t it just keeps getting better with him. And, you know, marriage is not always like this and and or any relationship that is deep in matters. But, you know, I have learned so much, Peter always

Has this beautiful quote about I don’t know if it was Adrienne Rich or who said it. But he says there’s a quote about breaking through marriage into marriage. That is what him I think we’ve live. Yeah, because and at this time in my life I feel very different than I have

Garnered. And, you know, it’s funny because I I’m an extremely empathetic percent, extremely compassionate with others. But like many of us, we have found that so hard to to give to ourselves. I think that has been the key is growing and having the tolerance to be uncomfortable

And really understanding the gift that awaits on the other side. And I offer that to you how to because I know that you’re uncomfortable with wearing a bow. >> I want to say that this is a time for you to sit in that.

This is what we want is simple, very shaken stock. This is not this is a little bit of oil and the oil in this to you can do a little bit of oil on there, but you can also what it said. It’s not really that Rowlands when it comes to oil silent

These grapes ceitus year. But actually you so much olive oil, even people are like we’re about searing olive oil as long as you don’t exceed 360 degrees because the small Dallas different things cast iron pan. Yeah. >> Well, listen to exactly sizzles important. It’s not

Going to use your the skin side down to this. Can get Kristen L a we’re going to take the whole cast iron, put it on the open roads to just like that. She had to live with. You only do it on one side. This was an action flick. But after that,

I said, but you can actually do the whole kind if you want not a big deal, but that he is just this cast iron pan out. Once you get out once it gets out, I like to even do more. Is it exactly? Yeah, that was great. Also a little bit of fried

Garlic over here. You’ve done this before. >> Little bit of fried garlic on top. Just because I like the extra. >> Yeah. Fried onion for garlic is always very, very good. But this is so easy. This is spice up on. This is not our

Use of salt and this is like probably row such a wow, right? Cause so humble and yummy. Exactly is amazing. It’s amazing. You serving this fall. We’re going to be serving us and easing off in Philadelphia. That opens on a couple weeks. You’re going to be actually working. I’ll be

There on the schedule what we’re serving. All right. So listen, fried we’re going to actually come season is over here aren’t and very, very simple and onions. I took down a little bit of oil for a very, very long time. So they get

Yeah, you know that. I talk a lot about how and I was saying to my friend said, of course, health at your age 8, your agent by age is very different. What are the issues that your age group is talking to that? Well, I’m 33 so majority of

>> my friends and my age group are thinking about having kids having kids were on their second or 3rd child. I feel like the thing that we talked the most about in our friend group and also on be a baby is just overall burnout. And

That’s burnout with your kids at home. It’s burnout in relationships and burnout with trying to make everything perfect your friendships, perfect. Your work life. Perfect. It’s just like an overall sense of burnout. And in need for support in that. >> So when you go to your doctor for a checkup or we’re

Talking to your doctor about burnout, are you talking to her that’s actually talking to her about? >> Pregnancy, I feel like it’s definitely hormones pregnancy right now at this phase in my life. There’s a lot of questions now and I going about mental health, specific

Questions. How are you feeling at home? How are you feeling in pregnancies? How are you feeling? Postpartum? There’s a lot more awareness and conversation about that with doctors. I feel like and also in my friend group and I feel like you reflect on. >> Having that kind of conversation when you are our

Age. When I talk to you, you’re talking about a kind of a whole different group of women who haven’t had children who are talking about. Should I freeze my eggs? How do I not get pregnant or should I be getting pregnant or should I be freezing? My eggs? You’re talking about PCOS. You’re

Talking about endometriosis. You’re talking about different things. Then I hear your age group are talking. So what is your grill talking about you, young women that you talked to what they talk about when they talk about women’s health? >> You know what’s interesting is I know you’re saying long.

33 and get my agent on. Thank you. I saw on 32. Why were so far apart? Yeah. Haha. But my friends in our conversations like could not be more different. Yeah. A lot of my friends are working and trying to kind of figure out big life

Choices as to whether they want to freeze their eggs or a lot of them are, you know, not married yet. So they’re kind of struggling with questions about whether there with the partner they want to make Gary. And if they’re making the right choices, they’re struggling with financially shoes, Av one

Girlfriend or 2 girlfriends. Now that are married and the rest of them are really just trying to grapple with how do the in the healthy U.S. relationship they can be n how they feel their best, whether it’s mentally emotionally or physically and kind of what got, you know,

Life song world looks like for them. It just feels like a couple years ago that. >> Most of our conversations were about birth control, right? You know, yeah, the right form of birth control. Should you be on the pill? Should you be on an IUD?

What’s new out there that all the said it jumped to show. My gynecologist is telling me to yeah overnight, but it seems to jump really quickly from like your early 20’s. >> Like the house to me because I went in after you had a BB

And I went to my college is and I think 20 freeze my eggs and how much time do I have? And she I think those 27 or just turned 20 like you have so much time. Don’t worry about it. I go in for 30 and she’s like so let’s talk now about

Freezing your eggs. And I was like, hold on. I’ve got some time here. And every year it gets more like I think we really should freeze your eggs inside it insurance policy. The pressure is on me with this person. >> Which I to me I was definitely unprepared for.

Do you feel overwhelmed by all of these topics about health? You’re talking about birth control, freezing eggs. Infertility endometriosis PCOS pregnancy loss is a huge issue. I don’t know if it’s overwhelming. >> I think that it’s beautiful to be able to have the level of

Openness that I feel like our generation has with friends but being able to have the support that and the openness that you have with friends is I think. >> Great. How big is sexual health your generation like when I was your age? I never went before spy had a male

OBGYN. I know that shocking tape. >> I just I just it. It’s also like you want somebody who’s able to relate to their warrant that I grade boy at you’re like I can’t really? Yeah. There were no women. >> You know, OBGYN at the time. You know, I remember well after

Having 4 kids, I talked to my OBGYN and he said, you know, how’s your sex life now? It’s like, Oh, my God, I want to talk to you about. Yeah, but you guys speak pretty openly about. >> All of that, right? I mean, we speak openly about it.

But also, you know, we’ve spoken to you about those things. And that’s definitely generational, Deborah says, because you would never of top tier Montanez car. >> Why think there’s also luckily like Katherine saying that there’s so much more information today than there are ways. So there’s just there’s a lot more wearing it.

I think now I think luckily actually from blunder generation raising the alarm about I’m having these health consequences right now. Could it be from the food I’m eating? Could it be from the products have been using since I was a teenager? And I think that luckily, people who are

Responding with putting a lot of money to research by the same. >> You, Christina have done the spells one dealing with out are all one dealing with Xanax. How >> big are those issues in your age group? Yeah. Movies also spotted out from my personal experience with medications.

I knew I was doing person going through those experiences. I think that the mental health landscape has evolved so much as even within the past few years. And the level of awareness is amazing. And so now we’re able to how conversations around these topics without the kind of wait of my being judged.

What are they thinking about the fact that I’m taking these medications that I actually find a lot more people my age today going into therapy, whether it’s a cognitive behavioral therapy or going on retreat or try acupuncture are trying to change their lifestyle or their diet to do all those things

Before they start taking medication. >> The other thing that seems to be kind of where we talk about women’s health has been a real surgeon women and alcohol, particularly women, you know, kind of had kids maybe are women who find themselves in their 30’s 40’s, a huge uptick

In that and that conversation around your health do hear a lot about that. That’s all over social media. It’s all over social media. All over social media is like. >> Drinking when you have kids drinking when your kids go to sleep, looking forward to that drink at the end of the day

Because of the chaos that is in your life between working between going and, you know, being a present parent to being a partner like there’s so much. I saw somebody actually post recently about, you know, going against that. So many people are posting about going

To games with, you know, their children’s soccer games and having alcohol in their caps are being able to go after you drop your kid off at school and getting a drink in the morning with those kinds of conversations and somebody recently posted we see people doing this but actually not funny. Yeah,

There’s a larger conversation to be had there, which is why do you find yourself needing to have that drink? So we have, you know, in our family where I think, you know, not the same as everybody that we talk about alcohol. A lot you’ve always raise asked with a very open communication about

Alcohol, about drugs, about what that does to you also understanding that, you know, as we grew up, that we would experiment with certain things in that we could be lucky enough to be open with you in on us and also have our siblings and not. But also

There is as you get to certain chapters of life, there is seems to me, especially since entering mother had theirs. Definitely like a big push of moms being Mike, these kids, they’re crazy like I need to have a drink. And that’s something that I see widespread across America.

Everybody goes, you know, they’re having to be responsible for their own insurance. Like finding a doctor who’s in the network. How much this all costs for going. Doctors appointments because of the cost of that. Yeah. >> I know a lot of actually it’s important to a lot of

Girlfriends that forgo kind of annual physicals a lot of times because they either can’t afford insurance and they’re not getting their job. I think a lot of them are lucky to get it through their job, though, too. But I think that just we’re talking about kind of the advocacy and awareness trying

To find someone that’s right for you. Yeah, but also something that I personally struggle with mice, all this like you have to be your own self advocate. And that takes a lot of like internal kind of 14 confidence in yourself because

You can easily be swayed are easily be silence and a lot of ways when it comes to being with a doctor practitioner. And I think tonight that kind of goes hand and we’re trying to find the right doctor, trying to find a prescription or trying to find

The right P t R whatever it is right. Acupuncturists is being able to really now at this point understand that you have to be your own advocate when you look at women. >> My age are women who are in their 50’s women who start

Talking about a gene. Does that freak you out or do you think like or >> I feel like I’m having the conversation about a gym, but I’m also haha. So 16 like to a searing clowning and my God, I say to my friends.

>> Oh, my gosh. These girls in their 30’s talk more about being old. Then I did. I mean, we’re really lucky that we have like we look at you and I’m like. >> That’s goals. You know, like you are very on top of your mental health, your physical health, spiritual health.

I think, you know, you and dad, both are incredible examples of people who are aging with grace and doing it really, really well, Christina Speaker herself. But I feel like, you know, older. I think if you are given the ability to get older,

Looking at it as a gift, you know, like you, you talk about it in a way where it shifts people’s perspective, not like, oh, my God, I’m getting its like, oh, my God, I’m getting old its. I get to get older. I get to be on this planet and

Watch my children live their lives and build their lives and see grandchildren and have fun adventures and have girls nights and, you know, go on these fun trips with my family and and, you know, also be there to be in communication with my kids as they grow and they find their own interests.

Do feel like there’s a that we have an open communication about your guys, health journey to feel like you get all your questions answered or you know what to expect. Super Open. Yeah, yeah, I I I agree like happens. I think

That you and otter kind of goals in a set, a great example for all of us us to kind of really high, too engage with aging, how to embrace it and how to really, you know, live life to the fullest up until like very I’m like

Grandma and Grandpa Dead. Yeah. Yeah. I think also like we’re really lucky to be able to have open and honest communication with. Yeah, mom, I we are really lucky that we can come to you and say, hey, I’m feeling this way. Did you

Ever feel that way or do you know what I should do if I feel that way? And you always been really open with sharing all of your experiences throughout your entire life and beyond about. >> Mental health, physical health, spiritual health, and just being open about it.

>> Would winning. Actress Anne Hathaway has been a force in Hollywood for more than 2 decades. Hi, the movie star is known for her wide ranging talents both on and off the big screen from being an advocate for women’s rights. 2 Apache

It’s becoming any, by the way. And at 40 years old, the mother of 2 is embracing. >> She is so couple of years ago you said this. When I look back on my 20’s, I just remember being afraid of everything. And in my 30’s, I’m actually excited about things.

Yeah. So now you’ve been to 40’s. What would you say about it so far and cherishing? >> You know, I’m cherishing I’m I’m I’m right at that point where I actually do not have a much better sense of how I like to do things and much, much deeper respect that there’s

More than one way to do things. So I really respect help other people want to do things. And I also really excited about pursuing my own take on things. I’m so much better at sharing. And I feel like I’m like, I’m kinder to myself. I’ve been kinder to others.

And I just I don’t know. It’s kind of super nerdy for second. I’m here for all of this. So if you think about culture, we think about what you have to think about it as it relates to our books music, all of those wonderful things that are she manatees died. The culture is

Also a scientific thing they can. If you treat us like you drop something in a petri dish and you watch it develop K more. We live in a culture in which he just accepted not put down. Not so not just that but just accepted as a function of life,

More opportunity. We have to have our best people who are like for the entirety of our lives. And that’s a gift. That’s an amazing opportunity to get to talk about all of this as I’m living it food because I don’t have a lot of

Wisdom about it yet. I have 40 years of being alive. And, you know, hopefully I’ll have way more than we had. But I I’m trying to bring all the parts of myself with me. Wherever I go. I have a friend. We love each other so much and

We sit there and we watch our kids and we have a phrase that we say to each other, which is God willing future grandma. So for me, the idea that who I’m going to be, if I’m lucky enough to elect enough to be a woman experiencing age in her

80’s and building her right now, I got really excited about that. And that it doesn’t mean you ever land anywhere. It just means you’re always developing. >> Growing up as a teenager in Hollywood Hathaway quickly rose to fame becoming a household name.

>> I started in this business when I was 17 years old and in a very different era. And there was this perception that there was going to be a cliff and that critics, the young, any team and the world’s changed since then and I well know has ever had as many

Opportunities as me. I could just in terms of just something as like, how when or should I am my life like just just nourishment and the education that I I was exposed to and I’m not trying to brag about trying to make it about them aware of

A privileged. And I’m trying to say is I was invested in and I’m not ready to give up that investment is because of the number at, you know, and especially not because of the number that exist out in the world that someone else has a feeling about. I mean, just in my own

Feelings about it. I’m interested. And >> and I’m interested in defining of what it is and then really, except for someone younger than me to the find it for themselves, too. And in that sense, do you think we’ve always been passing the baton to each other? We’re all

Starting to say, wait a minute. Hang on. >> Hang on. Hang on. We’re going. I think what about when I think that what I loved it because it. >> I don’t know how you feel, but do you feel like you’re getting better? >> Are you kidding me? Just getting started? You know?

No, absolutely. I wouldn’t trade anything you get into a place? No, I feel like I don’t feel. >> I don’t feel new in every single situation I feel like now I can actually focus on other people to focus on how to take care of other people take other people can whereas when I

You know, was first starting out so nervous. And so I’m still nervous. I can feel it. >> We’re Hathaway age is nothing but a number. >> But Sam, social media post a picture, you post a picture and people say you’re aging gracefully or oh, you look so

Good for your age to I say thank you or in my leaning into it by doing that. Are we leading into a bye? I think we need to the hype of aging. We think that age. >> My God, this is good. But I think about it. I never

Have. I think some of it was because >> I was a teenager who spent a lot of time around adults move. And as a result, I had to get really comfortable. But the idea that is a different age than other people, you know,

And so and and the chiefs in my life that have resulted because I was friends with somebody who was 30, 40, 50 years older than me, too, you know. And so I just I just think that’s people’s way of talking. I I think talking about someone’s appearance is really personal

Thing to me, aging’s and out of work for a living. And so if you want to pay to complement its nice but also whatever the hype is, I’m interested in what’s beyond the concept of height. >> I completely get that. And now I’m thinking, how do I

Put that into play? You do we have on the other day I talk to show, you know, she’s awesome news. The right to choose the actual cool winning awards who also talked to Jamie Lee Curtis, you know, and so I feel like and again, I don’t know if

It’s just that I’m or where because of the season that I’m in in this 40 club or if we are collectively showing that were just worst, we’re still in it. And there’s so much more. I think the question is why would you sue? We would be in.

>> Why was it ever assume that we couldn’t piano? And I think that look, I the world’s big places, a lot of people in it. We have to be talking to you about it and all you can ever do is be present with somebody and be supportive of them and uplift them.

>> Right. I absolutely mention the word presents how to stay present. >> What do you do? Well, you forgive yourself when you don’t. I feel like that’s number one. I feel like the first thing, the first rule of thumb and everything is just know that

Perfection is an allusion. And just because you’re not doing it perfectly doesn’t mean you’re not doing it for me. Very nervous. But they get rich doing it wrong. It’s owner of a spy. It’s a really I think we all may be have allowed

Critical voice and our and our has. I don’t know where it comes from. And that’s one of the other great things about aging. As you get more time to speak to that voice, you get one time to heal, you get more time to soften it

And work with it. But like, look, I’m fully aware that I’m >> burst out in hives right now. Lake. That’s what I got to hear this. I get really nervous when a cop, but you’re talking about something so amazing. What makes with the nervous

Part of it, the nervous about this major knee. And so. >> I feel like and I don’t know where it comes from, but I don’t judge it. I’m I’m I’m dancing with it. And part of that, one of the things they do to stay very present is I have

Practices that allowed me to be kind to myself the moments when maybe in the past, I would now have to kind of myself the and so I don’t think there’s any one way to do it. I thing some people, price people chance, some people take a deep breath.

Some people go for a walk. Some people shop like I just think that was the maybe look at all the above may be connected to all of that is just gratefully. Maybe that’s how you be present in it is you add something to it to allowed

To play with something because it can play off of your stress or can play off of your gratitude. He and I can really excited to be at an age now where I feel like, you know what, I’m not to mention the stress part anymore. I think it

Right that think it did that. I think we did our dance. But what if I can really set my gays in the future on? That’s what my gratitude. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Mind you. I don’t know if he’s going to work.

I know that I feel better. I’m having a much better time and I’m having easier time doing that way. >> If that makes any sense, know it does so then does that help you then? But then just when the kiddos or you’re doing

A project like that, does it help you kind of be here now, if you will? >> There’s so many things I feel like there’s there’s there’s so so so many things that and again, it’s like really, really it’s just different for everybody in. I think we’re all

Looking for that magic bullet. That’s going to explain it and make it really simple and let it be clear. And that’s there’s a line you’re either doing it. You’re not that that to me is I think the quicker you can find something really funny,

You know, the the more open you can be to it. And that’s the thing. It’s that it’s never going to look a certain way or be a certain way or feel surely it’s all to be happening at the same time and lucky if you have a lot of stuff going on and the

Question is, do you want to I don’t know if you want to thank you, shot off the anxiety and stress relief, Bangkok, gratitude. Sometimes you’re not in control of it and citing stress and that’s OK, thank you are in control of it. The other thing.

As the global brand ambassador of should say, those vital perfection. Skin care line. >> Potential has no age. What inspired you to partner with just say no. >> I mean, so is it was very exciting when you know, you’re aware of something for her. >> Where should say do for a while?

>> And I was really excited that they thought that I match their values. It was really excited because there company that’s 130 years old, have a legacy. I find them to be incredibly thoughtful, intelligent, caring recline. And I was just thrilled and excited that they felt that I could be part of that.

>> Now there are a lot of projects you could take on. But this one it seems like you’re passionate about and so many ways. >> I didn’t know it was so passionate about it like it just seemed like a really fun thing to do. And then we got

Started to get into the process of discussing what we what we’re going to say with it. And then they said we think the tag line with the potential has no age. And I was just like I love that. And I love putting that out there. And then I love

To see where it goes next. You know, it’s because all we can do is make the world better for each other for ourselves and for anybody to it, the best of our knowledge and to anybody that’s coming up behind us. And I love watching these young

People who have so much more freedom than I love, love, love watching it. And I don’t know. Just imagine what they could do if they never have the concept. >> A quick commercial flight or any of those things before Annie and I parted ways. Lightning round ready, okay.

Are you a tax or a collar and votes? But but I’d love texting staying in or going out. What are we doing? Quote, You live by the look by a lot of folks had big news. Keep on turning proud. Mary. Keep some burned in this

Country. Okay. I could sit out that favorite song of the moment. I’m really and vampire by Olivia, Rodney. That’s a good one. Big missile by Beyonce farmland, Taylor, Swift anti-hero. All those are good standout fashion moment where my heart is telling me right now it’s my wedding dress by Valentino.

That’s a given. That wasn’t a fashion moment. That was life life moment. Best advice you’ve ever received was not ever founded by. So something that, you know, resident. Oh, my gosh. And some of the cheese barn also sorry, no, this is awful. This is awful.

But it’s really good advice. What to do unto others as you would happen doing to you. It’s really honest is what it is. I know I know how or nurse that is. And I know this, but I can’t help but think that on the today show you that so

Much whom I know. And honestly, it’s just good stuff. So good. It’s really good. >> Today, more than 20 years into her careers and Hathaway doesn’t take anything for granted. >> To say that you started when you were 17 years old and now we’re talking about life in our 40’s.

>> That’s lucky. And I’m aware that I can’t think of many people who get to say that. I don’t miss that. >> Allyson Felix obvious. No, the most he’s the most such want to go back just for a second. When did you start running? I mean, were you like

You’re a stay at like 7 and is running down the street? Or I actually wasn’t. And I really had a different start. Then most Olympians, I kind of stumbled into it. I literally did not find track and field until I was in high school.

And the only reason that I found it was because I was at a new school and I didn’t know anybody in my dad and my brother were like what you should go out to the track team to like, make friends like up. Okay. All right now.

And so I did and I fell in love with this, but I found those friends. But then I just find your fast and the kids have been running since they were 7. I thought I was pretty fast. Yeah, but you could never done any sort of like backyard race

Is that unlike field days and things like that was quick, but I have never done anything organized fashion. And when did you discover that you work? Not just fast, but Olympic best. It was like the middle of high school. It happened very quickly. The Middle high school, my coach to a dinner me

In these races with professionals and I started winning that. And so that was kind of a whirlwind from then on. And since that point that I started track to my first Olympics was a little over 4 years. So tell me, do you remember your first Olympic race like taking to the

First time? Yeah, yeah. My first Olympics. It was an Athens. Everything was new was 18 years old. I didn’t know what to expect. It was fun. And the thing I remember most Iran, my heart out, I got a silver medal and as an 18 year-old, I was very disappointed because, you know,

I came for gold and I remember that, you know, we got the flags and everyone was doing victory laps and my mom met be on the other side. And she was like, so disappointing. So you didn’t do your victory lap and I’ve never been to the Olympics before.

I did not know that, you know, all top 3, get to do a victory lap that she was she was not happy with me, but giving this a victory lap after that. And that was always on that. All of the the high moments of your careers, all the

Highlights. There are many is there one that sort of stands out? Definitely. I would have to say Tokyo, my last Olympics. And it’s surprising because for me, it wasn’t my most successful, but it was the most meaningful. I overcame a lot of

Adversity to get there. And for the first time I sit on that line and it wasn’t about the metal. It wasn’t about the time it was about being a representation for women and mothers. And and I got to do it in my own shoes off 1000. Pretty cool.

So for those people may not know your journey specifically talking about the steps in your first Olympics are 18? Yeah. >> I think as I time went on, you know, when you’re 18 and there are no expectations, there’s not that much pressure that shift very quickly. My next Olympics, you know,

I was the favorite was expected to win. I was navigating life as a college student at USC and also professional athlete traveling the world. And so they got heavy. And I got another silver medal at my second Olympics tonight was not happy. So I think just navigating disappointment in

Defeat in coming back from that. And then I kept going and just like kept happening. And then I started a family and I went through that whole ordeal, not really being supported through that and fighting through that hardship. And so that last and final Olympics was really about overcoming and saying that

Women deserve better. We deserve better support. And so it just I don’t know. I think each games taught me a new lesson when you said nothing supported when you when you’re pregnant women that I went through a whole ordeal, a fight over attorney protections. I have been

Sponsored by Nike for almost a decade. And when I decided to start a family, something that happened happening in our sport for so long is that women their their contracts were being paused. A lot of women hit their pregnancies out of fear

That they would not secure a new contract. And so I found myself in that same position. I hit my pregnancy. I trained at 4 o’clock in the morning when it was still dark and eventually my fight really turn towards asking for protection

Around the turn, the and what that means is for track and field. Our contracts are performance pay. So you go to the Olympics, the world championships, you get a bonus, you don’t go, you get a reduction. But if you’re pregnant during that time or if you just had a baby, there was

Nothing in place to protect you. And so what was happening as women were being reduced and reduced and pushed out of the sport. And so I I just didn’t think that was OK and I spoke up and shared my truth. I ended up walking away from the

Company because of that. But 3 weeks later after I came out with the an op-ed in The New York Times, they change their policy. And so and today they offer 18 months for all the athletes and other companies as well came forward and change their policies. Any regrets?

I mean, I wish it didn’t take such a fight to make that happen. But I think, you know, it led me to where I’m supposed to be. I parted ways. I decided to make my own shoe and I got to run in them in the Olympics. And I think the thing that

Means the most to me is I I get to tell my daughter about this and I get to share with her that when you yeah, just what you need to stand up for what you believe in and that it’s not always about you. A lot of times.

It’s about doing something for others and for the next generation through the whole journey. I’ve I’ve known that one day I’ll get to share with her. But she’s been that motivation and even just speaking out on this, like that’s something that so far from comfortable for me.

But I think just looking at her and thinking about the world that she’s going to grow up in, that’s what gave me that courage. That’s amazing. >> Let’s let’s talk about this. This retirement at the U.S. last fall, which the retirement chapter been like so far?

>> I know it’s been interesting. It’s it’s been really challenging. I mean, I love the work that I’m doing now. I feel so fulfilled. But I think the reality of like waking up in not having the structure of training like I

Would wake up and I would train for 5 hours a day a week. A new cars there. Did you tell us about that? I’m really curious. Yeah. Does that work? So when you’re in the thick of it, yeah. Wake up. Have a pretty normal back. This sample. Nothing

Crazy. My coach was never a morning person and I was grateful for the I have. I have a pretty normal day. I would get to training probably around 9 and I would do 3 hours on the track. That mean like what you do so

Warming up and then you get to the meat and potatoes of the work out, whether that’s conditioning raps on the track, 6040300 along with it. >> It got to go every day. Haha Friday. Have a recovery day, every single day. >> On Wednesday, you have like a recovery day. And so that’s a

Day where you, you know, see the massage therapist, the chiropractor you might go for like a longer time. Ryan, I’m a sprinter. So for me, a long run is about 20 minutes. So yeah. And then after that, I would go to the gym for a couple hours after that. Every day

You that you do that you would go to the gym and then you come home and what? >> Yeah. And then recover. So ice bath stretching, making sure that your body can take on, you know, another day of that. >> And then, yeah, for how many years, 20 years, 20 years,

What do you were tired? So what did it feel like after you announce your tyrant to wake up whatever the morning was? That was the first morning. You didn’t have to do that if they don’t really. >> Good free. And I remember just like also being able to

Just eat what I wanted and not having any restrictions. I’m a snack or I just left food in general. So that part was great. >> So I mean, do you still run? I do. Yeah, I think that like that do not not as intense. I think I’m actually struggling

With that part a little bit, just because I’m switching from like this competition mode to just everyday life. And that’s been hard. Oftentimes I find myself at the track like just going through a brutal work out a way how I was happy to be

Here right now. So I’m finding new things, you know, new ways to exercise. But it’s a lifestyle. And it’s just a part of me. Just a little girl like to run. Yes, she that she likes to do kind of all things. I’m trying to push her away

From track as long as I can. Just it’s a tough sport. So I am we do all the things, though, soccer and dance. And we just a little bit of everything tennis. Now you’re taking them to us. Yeah, I did that happen well to my daughters taking tennis lessons. And I was like,

I think I should just try to understand the game a little bit. So I’m just at the very front and starting lessons. But just seeing her do things like I can try the things I’ve done something for 20 years. I think I’ve just been out of the practice of trying things, though.

>> Just hold the shoe. She’s forces that she does for us young. But does she have any the idea that that mommy is the most successful? >> Track and field athlete ever that? You know, I think she has no idea. I think she just is like mom to have my snag

Day. Those are the important things there. like maybe when you’re training. But even just now, I just have such an appreciation for it. And it’s been such a part of my life. Think I have a deeper appreciation for it now just as a mother, but starting my day

With my gratitude notebook and just do that yet. It has the details. Yeah, I actually started during the pandemic just because I felt myself like starting off my day, not with the the positive vibes that I wanted to and there’s so much

To be grateful for. So I just shot down like 3 things that I’m grateful for it. They could be anything. And it just kind of sets the tone for for my game. I get going from there. He also actually do these verbal affirmations with with your little girl.

>> From special, a massive and smart. And it’s right. I can do hard things I can to hide things. Some going have a good day. And then at that point, I just want her to be confident and empowered. And so >> every morning when we’re going off to school, we just

Kind of repeat little things. Whether it’s like I’m a good listener and a good friend. I’m kind. She’s really taken to them now. She’s like if I forget to like mom, we didn’t do our affirmations. She keeps me accountable to. All right. So talk to me about your entrepreneur has. So when it

Did you say, you know what, maybe I can start my own sneaker line, like when did that happen? >> I mean, it was completely organic. I was in the trenches of everything. And I was having a conversation with my brother who I work with, and I was just really venting to him and

Telling him I was tired of begging companies to see my worth of my value. And at this point, I had been to 4 Olympics. I couldn’t find another foot were sponsor. And so he was like we should do this ourselves. I felt that he

Was right like we here’s an opportunity for us to create change instead of asking somebody else to do it. And when we went down, that pathway learned what we thought were doing was creating shoes for me to where the Olympics. But then we learned that sneakers have not been made for women and

Their Madoff of a mold of a foot. And it’s the mold of a man’s foot. And once we learn that we’re like, this has got to change. And so our shoes are completely made to fit the form of the female foot. And we just try to do things different were

Formed by women. And so I love that. I get to wake up and do that every day that saw some amazing. >> They need Thos H what’s what’s the story there? >> So say she is a type of wave. We spell it phonetically.

But thus a swathe is found in the closed bodies of water. And with atmospheric pressure brings the water to one side. It’s the same way that restores balance. And so that’s what we want to be. You know, we don’t believe there’s ever been

Balance in the marketplace, but that’s what we strive to do. >> That just gives me chills. What has this experience and your journey thus far? What does the talking that, you know for sure? Yeah. I think it’s shown me my strain and just

My power, I think before I would have been terrified to speak up or to build something. >> I think it just showed me what I can actually do and that I can bring change into this world and that keeps me motivated and going in. It’s been an amazing journey. And and lessons learned

>> First of all, I just want to cheers you guys because you chose a life in wine country. Yeah. And thank you. We’re so grateful to have you here and to join our cloud. Yeah, our start today then. And this is such a lovely crowd. And

Just like we’ve been having such great conversations and learning and just like that chilling and getting away from the crazy world that we’re and so what made you say? We’re gonna one country. >> So it’s actually so we moved here 2020 and I feel like

Everyone during twenty-twenty the pandemic. It was a time where you just stood still and you really thought about life and where you’re at and what makes you happy. And Mickey and I kind of where we’re living next door to each other in Arizona. But we’re just like is is this our happy

Place like this where we want to live and raise our kids and we’re like no, are happy places in wine country and so her and why this is so crazy. But we’re crazy. We go as we go on. So and there’s 2 houses next door to each other. That means

The stars aligned and we’re supposed to melt. Sure enough 2 houses, one be my style, one being her style next to each other. So it just made sense. And we wanted to be more hands on in the wine industry, which is what we’ve been doing the

Last couple years. And we’ve had a wine for 6 years. So we need to benita. Yeah, needed money. So, yeah, so I mean it and it could mean a few steps back. Breen I we used to film a reality shows a wine country law. And then we would always

To our vacations here. And when we were working full time with wt we rarely got the caissons because we’re on the road over 300 days a year worldwide wrestling. So any chance we had a vacation which usually would be like 2 and a half days. We always came to

Napa Valley or Sonoma County. And we were just we never wanted to leave. We were so happy. So that’s when Twenty-twenty hit. And we’re like, well, for stuck inside forever. Minus. Well, go be by vineyard. And at that time we didn’t know everyone. Yeah,

We’re going to be stuck for ever know if you ever going to do this again. So, you know, I remember thinking that you’re like I’m stuck here. Yeah, I mean, pregnant on top of it. I mean, for us moms out there when the hormones kick in and

All the pregnancy. So for the crowd here. Yeah. >> So that’s for people who aren’t familiar. Your. You have had quite a journey and you’re almost 40 years. Yes. So just a month ago, it’s about a month on the 14th. You announced that

You are now the not the Bella Twins, the Garcia Twins, Ray. And so what prompted that shift? >> Wow, it’s so it’s interesting because we’ve been the ballot. We were the Bella Twins for almost 17 years. And it was about a year ago. I did that. Come about, first

Of all, the grand father full, but Italian from South Philly always calling us Ballot Bowl. And so yeah, area their failure I don’t I don’t. And so when he so when it came to think of a stage name for WWE, it only made sense Bella for him. So that’s what came up

With Brie Bella and Nikki Bella. But it was about a year ago that Nick Ian, I we were in a meeting and we walked away from that meeting. We got a car, actually, we’re back. We’re over a New Yorker in Connecticut. We’re making our

Way back into the city and her and I looked at each other. We’re like, well, we’re done like this. We always knew we just spoke now is that it’s winds thing or was it like over Don, like throwing what I think is you are very into lake

Believe in energy and all that. It was like we felt the boat without even speaking words. We could look at each other. We felt energy in the room, everything and we just knew that the relationship was over. We knew it was time for us to

Expand. It was time for us to not ask permission anymore, especially when you hear know a lot. We’re like we were almost 40. I can’t the asking for permission. Granted the yes, when usually to now there’s just so much in her. And I were

Just like, OK, we need to start thinking about a new chapter, which means thinking about our our new name, my goodness. And the Bella was. >> WWE thing, right? So if you left the WWE, you had to leave that name anyway. >> Right. Right. And we’re we’re prepared for that.

It’s wb’s I p. >> So when Brienne I were in the process of knowing that we were going to mention be closing this chapter and starting another one, we knew that we would leave at name. So you set yourselves. And we just said, you know, we also

Want to go back to return Mexican Italian. We’re very proud of our Hispanic heritage. And we represented are telling side for so long. So for us, it was something we really want to go back and represent Garcia and that side of us. And it’s just the roots of women, you know,

Green eye. When you look at a book and we have so many chapters, right, and we’re entering this next chapter, we have a life coach and we we do the work on every part of our lives. And we’ve been doing that price for the past 20 years of just really working on ourselves,

Our careers, everything personally professionally. And it was like, what is this next chapter mean? What is there see? I mean, yes, it’s our name. It’s going back troops. But what does it mean to us? And for Bree night, it was just as chapter of

Truly haven’t. We’ve always had a voice, but not being silence, truly getting our power back, not asking for permission, like Brie said, growing in any way we wanted to. So for us, we just wanted to be our authentic name Garcia. And we just thought of

Everyone in the past that didn’t have a voice and who we can represent. Now, how we can walk into this next chapter. Just feeling a strong and powerful. Yeah, I think that deserves a clap. But you talk in your buck and you’re very open about your

Journey has not been without pain, right? But you when did this change sort of the shift is saying we’re not victims. I mean, as children, you had a really hard time and you talk about that, if you could, just so if tell us about that. And then when the shift came.

>> Yeah, I mean, we we grew up in a broken home. And so and there was, you know, there was abuse. And there was a lot of times in our childhood where we just, you know, we didn’t have a great relationship with her father.

And there’s times he was absent due to drugs. And that was one hurdle. And then another hurdle for myself. And just because yours is I lost, lost my boyfriend to a drunk driver and high school and death to do with that pain at a young age and experience that.

And that’s a lot of stuff before 18. I mean, a lot. Yes, for sure. And then Nikki dealt with and before 18 as well. So, you know, we went through a lot of pain, but I think as we have each other, we state really strong. But

I’m definitely feel like our heart ships molded us into strong women. >> But you talk about something of that enormity now so casually it’s like, do you wish? And I know you guys, this is a big monitor for you as well. And I know you do this

On your podcast. Like if you can only tell you younger South Lake, the yeah, look at what’s going to happen raise. And that’s why it’s so important to talk about it because I want I don’t want people to go back and look at the younger self and say,

Oh, I wish I could just hold her. She could just went to her. Mom are just went to someone and talk to, you know someone about it. I’d love for them to learn from me knowing that you can. >> And that’s I guess what leads me to sort of your mantra

Now is right is that you’re all about not asking permission. So I love that because I posted a quote the other day that some of somebody tell me here they that when they were saying that no is a complete sentence, 100% like it doesn’t have to be like

I’m blankets like Dana past or now or I want to do that. And and and I know that that’s a big mantra of both of you. >> Oh, for sure. I mean, well, and you know, it’s interesting because Nikki always said when we were in, you know that more than just wrestling in

Business and everything when we hear no, we actually now it’s depending if you’re saying no to someone to tell him not to do something. Yes, knows that. But also when we hear now, when it came to asking for permission, we’re like how we’re going to turn that into. Yes, we always about that.

How we can turn a negative into a positive. And I feel like as women, it’s been a big habit for us to ask for permission. We had to ask permission to vote. We had to ask permission to work hard to have a job. And I feel like it was embedded

From our great grandmothers or grandfathers and even from our mothers. We’re at the point in our lives were hirner like, no, we’re not. We’re not going to ask for permission to do anything. And if we do some stuff that’s like, OK, well, it wasn’t good.

While we’re hearing that you’re like we have a great shakes. >> You know, I love that. You said that because I feel like we have to give the grace to ourselves that you care what other people think like if you need an article, I’ve opened up

My mouth a lot this past year. And, you know, they have gotten into with some people. But I actually was the first ever. Haha. I think I didn’t care because I was speaking the truth. And and I believed every word. I said every word that I said

Was honesty. It was the first time ever that it didn’t bother me because I was just like, well, that’s what I believe, right? Yeah. If you really believe that, right, then it’s like. >> Okay, you’re wrong or you have another opinion and you do you. But that’s not what I say.

And thank you all for having a yeah, I think you and so I’d love to leave with just some sort of like take away that you think that we can take out of the weekend. >> So it’s something I’ve been working on a lot lately is

Patients and I saw this quote on Pinterest. And it said the patient with yourself, nothing in nature takes quick to bloom. And I believe that I feel like now in days were so quick to check on people on Instagram, Facebook, Google, something we get everything quick and done

And I think’s we get impatient now and I feel like my next chapter I need allow myself to be patient to see what’s to come, not expected on now. And sometimes when it doesn’t happen now, I kind of get antsy and I think everything’s

Feeling nothing’s working out for me. But just like nature, the seasons like we all get excited when the wildfires bloom, they just blew to last week. And it’s like I’m not wild flower allow myself to have this couple seasons of getting that rainfall, you know, getting the sunshine and

I’m going to bloom. So that’s for me right now. It’s like a good vintage of wine. Brie ways. Yes. >> I’m in for me. I’m someone who I have a lot of goals and I have a vision board and it’s like I like to hit certain

Things. Whether its yearly or just in my life have my own milestones that I create and sometimes I can have a tough time. Staying motivated are can be extremely mov motivated. But one of the quotes that I love is we cannot become what we want by remaining what we are.

And I feel sometimes it’s hard to let go of who we were, but who were meant to be is there. And sometimes like I’ve been on this incredible journey and I’ve had ups and downs through my life. A nice look at been a lot of different

Versions of me. And that’s okay. That’s like the story we tell. We get to be these different characters and who I was then and not now. And I know who I’m going to be in this next chapters who I was in the past 16 years. And I

Can’t wait to meet her and a look back on myself now, Mike, have that conversation of like remembering where 39 entry 40. >> So, yeah, it’s you know, where we want to go. We just know that. What are we doing today? What are we doing in the

Next 10 minutes to be that person? I mean, I learned so much from you and you’re just lively and thank you for being so far, the vulnerable and for sharing. I mean, it’s it’s a lot and I think it helps empower us because the definition of

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. So we don’t change our behavior. And I like, like just the ability to forgive and like move on from who you are. You know, that’s right. Live that not like the lake. That was not the right thing.

Yeah. Let’s move on. Dot com, totally 100%. Thank you so much for joining us for the new rules and Sonoma County >> Savannah, you’ve got to catch up with one of probably your most favorite people is Kristin Chenoweth. She’s a legend. You know, she was just down the street. She medicine,

Historic Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Honestly, we could talk for hours. Kristen Course needs no introduction. She’s a Tony and Emmy winner and has transformed Broadway with her starring roles and Wicked. And You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She credits gotten her faith with helping her get to

The main stage. And as a Christian, she believes it’s her mission to share God’s love. And whether that is on the Broadway stage or walking down the streets of New York, she’s finding. >> A different kind of voice. I can’t believe we’re here.

People that are here. You got your start singing in church. Not a church like this one. Now I wasn’t broken Arrow, Oklahoma and only had about 1000 people and membership. that was a huge part of my mind against Mister Church. >> What does it feel like saying I’m cam like how great

Now are able to see it like you. >> Thank you so much for my it’s it gets me back to my roots. Whenever I seen you mention greatest mystery and I. >> Tice a full mandate, as I say, so many hits.

>> Take my mic down ever. You have a song in your heart and you should sing it. Maybe not as loud as me. Definitely not. I’m saying. >> Would you say first found your voice in church? I was in the choir little Kids Choir.

>> And I were having audition for adults L a and my mom said you can’t your kid has and let me just go tryout. Now that says a lot about me at that age. So I went and I got the cell. They’re like we’re going to get it.

And then this SNS in the cell, the church. It wraps and I say this story only and tell you that when your little can encourage me to get people left to follow the passion, the love. I was given an opportunity to say about something that I believe in which state

And do it in front of people who let me a very safe space. It started the ball rolling and I love to sing for all kinds of fates because I believe that we we worship God that is lacking one that is a man has made. So you’re going to h*** and I

Love and got and I can spread that joy. And I’m going to try because that was one of the things got home. He was a little girl. He actually he spoke, Chris, you know, look at it. This impressions on my head and the House to explain it. It’s a still small voice

When I get that impression like a hand print. Yes, that’s correct. It’s interesting about God’s voice because it’s hard to describe, although actually I think you described it really well. Thank you. But I often find it is saying something that is unexpected. So, yes, I remember Santa even talking about an option.

And I just start talking about it recently because because I got the impression I heard this will help other people need to know he just won. And in this while magically, they need to know what was behind it will inspire people.

And so it’s become a lot more easy for me to talk about that list. I would have kept that seat and I’m not ashamed of it. >> Kristen was adopted as a newborn or adoptive mother happened to be in the hospital. The same day she was born for

An operation that would leave her unable to conceive by Chance or Heavenly Plan. Kristen unexpectedly became available for adoption. She said to the knot. >> I always want to try for a little girl in the hunt. I remember that story. So when my mom on Billy came to get by,

She called my dad before and to do want to surprise Judy, tomorrow at that, a little baby here, it’s going to be home. And my dad said yeah. And so they Tenet took my mom wrote for surgery, took out in the 80’s.

See that we have shared a sessions went on. We get Dan and so we went home together. She said I always felt like I had been at home to get. How can I me personally? Not Billy here. I got the perfect family. I was brought into this world

By the wonderful mother mom. Lynn, I was able to get education. I loving giving family once all of 8 and a lot of fun, too. It’s a gift skipped some that’s unethical. But how is mom Melinda? She saying yes, okay. And then my birth. There was a great musician as well. Ali athletes

Can some people might know me as a pair of this. So I know what can’t she’s t I give us a nature versus nurture, actually. I think now nature and it’s like this. >> It’s such a beautiful out Kmiec a store shelves like that’s magic. It’s fine. It’s fine. It’s divine.

You’ve had ups and downs in your career. You talked about how you look for God’s voice to guide you. How has that how to make decisions? That might have been a little surprising at the time. A little unorthodox off the beaten path. >> It’s been really interesting because at a wonderful team

That works for me and help me God with these decisions. Even when I was younger, I was lucky enough to get a great agent. I went to New York friend. Many 2 helping audition get settled in and make out. Just wraps up at the fund. Had the experience kind of getting this park.

I had a big decision to make and this is where talk about the get is why talk about that impression? Some people call the universe. That’s fine for me. It’s a lot. I have to get quiet my whole life. I heard my aunts, my mom 2 years, one that

Chris, 2 years now stake less and less markie not can talk. And when I do that, I’m able to come here and God wants me. I went to New York. I said, I want to do this thing and it worked out some God has a plan and sometimes and it’s

Happened several times in my career. >> But face is a journey and not always an easy one. Along with great success. Christian has had great setbacks, including an on-set accident that nearly killed her a decade ago severely injured the road back was a crystal ball. >> It was hard and scary and off

I kick on happened in us and it would allow it it happened. So yes, why not use that? And a lot of that is up to us. Get this in mind. And I mean, it just I don’t. Yes, I’m preaching from the top that that Adam, something I really want people to know.

Seasons of doubt? Just connection with 5? Yes. >> The question of why got me, why me? I’ve had several injuries and on the net, I’d like to see an athlete all my pocket. People know what I mean. People that or you know what I mean? I asked my mom one day.

This was after the sax. I do kind of rely had a so that’s my sentences out land, the plane, so to speak. And my physical physical body is not sayings ones. And I had a pity party and I stayed with me for thing that’s happening. Rock thanks. She said why not

Somebody needs. I’m crashes. Of course. I want this for my daughter now. Why not, you know, better or worse than anybody else thinks happened to everybody. >> You’re on a mission to spread the love of God. I mean, that said, wait, you know, but also when you do fall us and we

All have. >> You’ve got this amazing gift, which is God’s grace. It’s an incredibly bonding experience with God. You know, you did something wrong and you feel that on your heart. Forgive him. >> You’re so right. That a grace. My mom, Allison Janney Channel. I love you. She said if you

Want to be forgiven, you have to forget. All right. It’s hard and it’s later in life because I’m a Leo and I’m very loyal, unexpected. Ask people I mean that that hurt. I have held on to it and it just hurt me. So just recently, this is

I started forgiving people that I still have hurt me. I don’t even care anymore. Now I’m the one that’s hurting. And that’s got grace. He says, see my child. If you’ve done this the whole time, you want to carry that. I’m sure I think that’s >> unique to God’s character, if you will.

But he tells us something. Even something we don’t really want to like. Forgive someone who hurt you can’t. He’s not doing it for them. He’s doing it for you. >> So it’s chilly. One I’ve had chopped were troublesome learning to forgive myself when I have disappointed. Others disappointed myself

And very h*** o* myself, Taipei, your average night. But guess what? And if a kid yourself is the most important so that you can for. >> At my church, the pastor says one waited to find sun is just the way we fall. Short of love. >> Oh, my gosh. Cool that again.

>> Soon it’s just the way with that. We fall short of that and I think that’s a more accurate way to describe it and more matches up with what kind of tense. >> I so agree. I love that. I’m going to remember that in

My hand because it is all about love and yeah. >> They don’t have these conversations all that much anymore. There’s a way to talk about it. I think in LA and openness without judgment or >> some kind. It’s I don’t know it off. Yeah. Hosing down the

Law. You know, it can sound to you. We’re all God’s children. Everybody gets in on it. It’s it’s I think if we thought about that war, it would be transforming. Then we really would be look at each other as brother. Just send us an inch in this family together.

>> I think that’s what God wants us to tease him. And >> so on this day, Kristin Chenoweth God gave the voice of an angel race first loud and strong. Last >> You know what a lefty you to join me. You sure.

>> 4 months ago to the day, Janet Jackson invited this girl from Wichita, Kansas to be her backup dancer on tour. Well, you didn’t have to ask me twice. I hours away from hitting that stage and living my best life. That’s right. I’m on center stage at the Hard Rock live in

Hollywood, Florida Virgin its opening weekend of her together again tour. Her first major tour in 4 years. When fans from all over the country in different cities come to see the show. What do you want them to feel, joy? >> Just complete Lee’s excitement. I want them to

Reminisce about great times in their lives. When this song comes on that some comes on just happy news in that to be corny. But it’s been such a long time since I’ve been with the fans who says this is for them. >> On that note, how do you feel especially with the tour

Like this? Is it exciting? Is it challenging? Is it exhilarating? Maybe all of it. >> It’s all of that. It really is especially getting the show together. I love production. Her says MS teaches up and we get to do the word real changes and really, really dig into it.

And I didn’t get as many days I would have loved to him. So we didn’t like one full dress rehearsal literally the day before and the day before the show and they worked out fine and they want to finish for the for last night’s show.

>> I was just about to ask you, Janet, what is it about being on stage and performing that you love? >> I enjoyed. I enjoyed dancing. I enjoy the funding for the fans. Enjoy to sharing what I’ve created. I love putting the show together, creating it. Gil Gil do now and

Just gives me so much joy and to say, look, look at what we’ve created. And I hope that the enjoyed knowing that I like getting my love for finding it a joy watching. We have so many, you know, songs that fans love. But is

There any song in particular that I guess when you look out into the crowd and they’re singing it back to you that you feel most connected to then my guy says it is a couple of times in the show that happens. But I think want to one of the nicest moments for me

When when I do again, when they sing team and I love that I can hear them. And in that sense, beautiful to me than knowing that melody thinking, Oh, my God, I’m musical is. And then that I I wrote that some just listening to them

Melody, that you’ve come up with lyrics that you’ve come to this group of people to sing it back to you. I love that. It’s just it’s beautiful. >> Is there anything that you do before you hit the stage? You know, when you perform or ritual is anything that you say

To yourself? Always pray. We as a group, we always pray. >> And I myself, I was given 2 guy. She got from this this this point time. I said it’s releasing it to you. Is it in your hands? And that’s who I trust.

>> The U.S., by the way, I should mention where you’re letting cameras kind of follow you around for an upcoming documentary. You’re still develop being this. But we know it involves family this year or >> family. The tour. Their son surprises. I think it’ll be a quite fun.

I hope the audience enjoys it and I’m so thankful this is as successful as it winds. You know, you just moving along for 5 years and talking about life and friends and family were can miss that. And it was it was it was difficult times times. It was a very cathartic there. Ph

Securing the session at times. But I I enjoyed. >> The press release that they sent out with this new one has a picture of the family on the front of talks about the family, you know, back together for a reunion. Do you think

There would be a time when you guys would perform together or, you know, just days? So why do you think now is the time and the season that you’re in your life now to share a little bit more of you are to share some of those things?

>> I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I’m I’m not as shy as they used to be. So I’m a little bit more thing. She sharing more in my life that I never did find having my own family now and land people to see and understand how we

Came on and what Lee was, what really happened and how it came about maybe to help others. We want to follow along that path. That’s the key. I mean, even though it’s a different time now. But still, you can take learning this and that and the

Plywood might work today with what happened then. >> I love that. You think people do feel like your fans really know you or is there still room for us to get to know you? I think there’s still room a little bit of room, but they

Know me sometimes been I know myself. So we’re also celebrating 50 years of your career in entertainment. And I remember when you’re on the today show, I told you I talked about the power of representation and the impact you had on, you know, especially brown girls like me

Growing up in Kansas. And I was thinking about it. I mean, from acting, you know, we saw Penny, you know, on on good times, different strokes. >> And then on to family. Yeah, I ran in and Rob Lowe. Yeah. And then even on obviously I’m assuming side

You’re cranking out hit after hit after hit. >> At the time that you have any the idea the impact you’re having. >> No, I was just doing what I love in. Just thankful to God that I was able to do it. No, not thinking of

That at all. I was just going and being excited about. Okay, what, what? What I’m going you do next. What like? What excites me to do next with influences me. What? What moves me to do next? I wasn’t really thinking about that. >> You can be called many things. The singer, Grammy

Winner, actor, producer, fashion icon, philanthropist mom. Is there any title that you hold at the top of the list to do? They all have a place in there? >> I think they all have the place. But the one that gives me the biggest gratification, his mom, but they did about say a cent.

>> Janet son, he said just turned 6 in January. >> What is it about being a mom that just simply to everything every every when you tie you need to break. I just love it. I love it all in. When you’re in that moment, you see some special happens this I got it

And then good this for the rest of my life. Certain getting emotional because I’m thinking of one thing in particular in another she can use is so beautiful. And I just that that’s that’s. >> You should know because I get it. I have 3 little ones.

That puts everything in perspective. That’s the highest for me in a moment. So finally, let’s talk about tonight. But me being here all started with good old fashion today. So Halloween not tell you what I was speaking to tell me, OK, the whole time I was like, I mean, I don’t think

Janet Jackson would actually be watching state of the issue is watching today. So I just don’t want her to be like, oh, that girl, please sit down, have you know? I saw things no way. Yeah, I saw this and I love it. I saw this and I

Absolutely loved it at that. He did have one debate you. >> Okay. Some is Jackson think I did a good job. But I had a month to her sat. I now have to learn a new routine and just hours still be loosened up. Janet took me to look at her to

>> These are the costumes for the show. Wow. As the heavy no, this is light. Then didn’t he know that this mean? >> This is like this is my opening. Can’t suit. They did this. Keep the pound load. This is heavy. It makes me feel

Very, very, very have to prove. Yeah, I mean, it’s beautiful. And he also did just some I would wear this kind of where this. Yeah, what a finish know this. Yeah. And you didn’t know this would make this children like the cut of it. It’s

Beautiful. My gosh, it’s beautiful. With course. Is this And in 2 its beauty and its its its could we expect to save those kind of heavy Christian to this Christian Siriano did this to me. >> A little lighter part of the show and it’s a heated it so

Quickly enough. It’s so nicely. Just hugs your body and easy to dance to. Oh, yeah. He’s been a friend of mine for a while. Christian loop that time. Yes, he I just call them up. And I said nominees and nishi not me.

>> Moneys missions. These on to ever want to keep some things like some of these. I want to keep like this or the boy’s Florida full or do you let it go? Well, when I did the action and let everything go. But there was one thing it.

>> I didn’t like that. And that was my are at a regional addiction. I to a regional for the nation customs and one of them that I wore on that go in the other region. No, I can’t. >> And I think that’s worth it all this week and then with us

That the right and actually came out. and a half, it was time for her to take me to meet my fellow dancers. This is our path to seal this willow tape. And there is lighter than this that when you’re doing it started in.

>> It’s all you see are selects to sit out who say release have to got the idea hands. You thank you to I must say I have fun. All right. >> But right now the fun is feeling more like fear, but had

To put those nerves aside 7, not to love it. If and then I found out Janet wanted me to come out during together again. The encore song. This was huge. She trusted me had to nail it. >> I love says in practice that little thing. I spent the next

2 hours practicing in my room until it was show time. >> And 70 miners will to the right. And I just embraced the magic of the moment and the next thing I knew I was dancing. >> One that the crime was all over.

>> But just like her music, Janet just wanted me to smile to the very end >> Thank you to all police cars. You know, you’re right. I read a section. See this new world order. This is what is it all. >> So when people come in from here,

The first thing they see is the post. he’s my guy. >> So here you’re a Spike Lee, creative source, the Brooklyn Museum. You are. You would think it was going to say what? You are a sign of Brooklyn and you have a major exhibit in the book, the Museum. How does that feel?

It feels great. And here’s a story. People come to my office. If looking wrote in to say this looks like newsy. >> You should usually of people in off the season on. So all this is private. So this is a chance for people to see the public to see

The people, especially from the public, a Brooklyn, New York to see all this stuff I’ve had. I was in my home’s my office and his torch in all this stuff. Pardo. People have looked up to not just a sports. Just these the people here are my pantheon.

>> And by the way, your mom would bring you here. Yes, growing up. My mother. >> Was, I mean, not just my siblings to do so by mother. My late mother, one of her children will will round and she did a great job. Not just me. All my son was, you know,

A lot well educated in Amherst in the arts. >> So how do you win? You’ve got of 1000 peace plus collection spread out. How would you you bring that down to 470 so or so pieces? How do you how do you make the choice? Well?

>> I mean, on this is a little push to show the get that number, all, all all. But I want it to look like my office. >> And that will look like when using with his A spin here. It’s tough to hear. >> It’s divided up into

Section, but just wanted to get the I want to be stingy the I want to want the world to see the stuff because it needs to be seeing. Also, it might give people like a little insight to, you know, where mild floors of from, you know, who might

She rolls or heroines that the paint the I think a lot of people here are going to do the research that, you know, got that phone like who is this person who says education is is education. >> What’s interesting about this is that there

The movie posters, this sports memorabilia. But this this kind of politics, but politics, art, anything, all my this. >> These are all the parts of Spike Lee. Yes, and you know, one day it will go back and trace, look at this exhibition with where this fits in with my, you know,

Body work now to Dan document things. I’ve been to your house and I’ve seen. >> All a lot of this on the wall, but I had no idea the death of the I mean, there’s less than half what you got. When did this start? >> Starting as a kid in Brooklyn,

My friends and I were the go-to roles tell because that’s where the nationally teams with state. So Willie Mays within one of the Giants in New York is Chase Day with a hotel with a little bit. Come out. We’ve got to get the basic alone.

We’ve got this. We’ve got in this cause, too. When the rains come, what, Hank? Yeah, the pirates was clear that they want to commend it and also the size of sports. I collected Marvel comic books. I like the C I was more of a DCI like their double. I did like they’re them.

>> So where did where did this love of film? Come from? What? How did that start? >> Well, the plants, the plant was what my father hated Hollywood films. I’m the eldest. So out of my mother’s moving day, that’s how it happened.

Plastic don’t grow and bloom might ways. So we get the plant the scene. So was to a college that those seeds. Okay. Now, what going to the movies that I you know, what? The movies who’s directed his right knee. And you know, you look the the people on screen, but not behind a

Screen. So it was all as college went to Morehouse College that that I had to choose a major and that major was mass communications bill, print journalism radio, the Talk and World War 2 had been made at that Major Equestrian Clark College. So that’s that’s where it started.

>> As you started to think about this, you know, maybe becoming a director becoming moving in to fill and your dad was jazz music again. Did that impact your directing? You know that? >> It packed my direct them. But I knew had a great I just having a great appreciation for Jess.

So it’s been reflected in, you know, almost all of those on the eve of the doughnut did without my father doing a score. >> When you do these films and in the beginning, you are in some of your movies. Yeah. >> No reason dollars. And she’s gonna have because the first

Know because we have the money paid by else. But behind this, you see some game one Jordans and because of the cat that play was Blackmon that sell me and my hope that with the commercial change the whole game, Michael Mars and Jay. So it’s funny how things work.

>> Did you ever think that maybe acting again? No. >> I do. And the commercials with the with will with Sam Barkley and Magic. But a new motto was at the act. This nike’s agency they saw she’s the habit. It was their vision to pay my cat to Mars.

She’s a have with the goat, Michael Jordan and it changed every you know, like you went to the stratosphere. Yeah, in that before really do the right thing. People in me then know what was just that crazy guy and the commercial Michael Joyner. >> Where are we going? What’s the future of filmmaking?

You know, when you can start looking at AI and all this stuff where we got a guy, that’s the scares me. I mean, just. >> These stories and now the movies as not science fiction today. Yeah, that stuff is here. And as far as arts go,

I just think that is very dangerous where solace, not human being is thrust into the art world is a lot of stuff about copyright, you know, ownership just a string of death. that, you know your movies but not all of them. But not all

That was going to say. I think people be surprised to see how many other movie posters there are those movies. >> That is nothing in this and exhibition. That does not mean something to. But I mean, we’ve been lucky. Let me just doing so

My bills are shown worldwide. So when it comes, I got it get on the plane. So I was in Rome of got what that was. My publicist as I pulled. You really know. They keep calm up. See you doing come this restaurant.

So like 4 years in a row, every time I went to Rome, I was having dinner with Levy and every time a way that the first and the other 3 times I have post the slot. So you see the polls, a son and me from Flynn.

Let’s go to the to 8 and a half La Strada sign. Amy from Federico Fellini. >> When you shouldn’t across from Frederick from believing what? What? What? >> Use of the is it? I mean, he’s funny. You have to die. And we have like and then won the top. >> What role?

Big y? I’m so close that they would levy a lie that they scores a good school because when you a new film school because I look at the >> World Cinema, I wasn’t into interest, introduced to tells in grad school and why he says he’s grateful to be able to

And this sign stuff. The new to me looks like and they see my bills, too. Those lands give you a live from with some of the lake with some a look at the year. >> A look at it. I mean, it could end a while. Yes, this this this piece is spectacular. Yeah.

If you had to pick, what’s your favorite is there? Is there a favorite piece of or? >> Well, that is has not gotten a good pick one but grouping one of the Nets game 7 May 1970, versus what Los Angeles Lakers, a Willis, Reed all and Wolf, raise your game.

I got in that 90 was it too? There are 2 years old. >> One of sport’s what? Because it’s that huge representation. What a sports freshly New York sports media. >> My father decides when to Gregg musician composer. He loves sports. You know the tell us me

And my siblings. How great a after us. So my father was dodge it like a lot of black people that meant but that Milam know my my politics media garden O’Gara 8, that a sus. My look. The next game is taking a looking like

I mean, my father knots in court side who were in the last poll. But you were there. I was it. I just think about now sitting in the last row at the Garden. Of course. Yeah. And I got this in from the Garden. This will be my Tony, the or

32nd and 33rd use this season to use. >> When you first walked this once everything was hauled in, what were your thoughts? >> I think my parents because of my fathers died, you know, and a mother died was a sophomore in college way. Part of why am is because who they were

And they were are my love of sports. Cars of fall music. My mother was a stunt, a file. I’m really proud of not just my past, but the legacy of what my ancestors. So and then a lot of my my siblings workers here, too. And so that is my brother Davis photographer.

So it made his photos here, too. What would they think this will be? Probably, yeah, because it’s about legacy just keeping ago. And, you know, we just got a everybody in every generation is keep it going, go higher. 9 expect the same from south of Jacksonville. You suspect the same thing for your

Children to, you know, we just want go go beyond what we’ve done is keep it going. >> You know, what’s interesting about this, too, is, you know, it’s a different sections at the very, very personal stuff. >> Get them such as very personal, my body to score all

My films and white. Let them school this. She’s gotta have it. School daze do right. The Mo better blues. So that’s that is with act. My subs. Not just me. Yes, the law would go up in a musical household and there is a musicality to your were of my

Father’s side of the family is all his siblings. Parents, grandparents, just a musical background was funny. As we’re going up, my father will come in the House and here Motown, the Beatles per that that golf is a jazz purest. I mean, we really knew what we were told. We liked

Turning now to a little transistor radio. So how did that household? >> Influence, who you you’ve become? >> Just go. I mean, the best example of NYC crook, Lynn, that’s the Lee family going to Brooklyn, New York. So my father, one time was a go-to bases. And so mother had

The worst says she got a job to say that Brooklyn Heights and she supports oil on the first of 5. She’ll work all day come home cook, great papers, but shed with belief and my my paws music. So she support this. My father, Bill Lee, and this letter from the vice president

Given our condolences month Pausa Passan and this my mother, this thing here, some I threw it out, wasn’t as a right next to an office broken this throughout the staying. So what I can use this, I knew had this pitch my mother. He’s had this photograph put mothers, mother Mom, Sheila, be 100

And she put me through one house and why you grant them school the 50 issue toward art and say the Social Security checks that the years or grandchildren’s education, I’m told us at first did and as make weight. >> Yeah, the seikle Dimon, probably grass and he’s here

The way the last night of 6 pounds and 8 ounces as 10:51PM. The lake has wrist. It’s definitely there. He looks nothing like any want my side of that. Yes, those big lull has music news. This is, of course, like bills with my father. Bottom his coloring.

>> All blacks, spiky hair that were spiking from dog his bag with that of baby blue and white. He’s a home in little Rascal. All right. Now I will go to pieces. Haha. Brooklyn Bridge at the game, the the anniversary and getting ready to go to a Catholic.

And this is a are read by my daughter that she did like you like by his old self portrait. He’s a really good zone right there, too. I remember that. Yeah, look at this one. >> Don, Info 5. >> A lot of attitude.

>> What have you talk to Satchel and Jackson, your kids about what have you told them about this? >> They a lot of stuff in that scene because it had been in storage. Doris Satchel under my son Jackson, both grown a day, had a little meeting with their mother. My wife highlight

This where the money’s got. >> No, but now I put that out about everybody. Know, haha. >> I think they like it. I love that. They get to they get a sense. I mean, look, they love you. They know you. But do they get more of a sense of who you are

By looking at this? >> Is they know, but now it’s like they’re going in and the banks and that debt that opening night gala. This thing was packed. And so they really so like a and a lot of people there for months, film family so was likely union.

But they they know, and they also know they got to cut the torch is going to hand it to them. Keep this thing go. That’s a lot of pressure. They’re built for the bill for. >> But your legacy, what do you want your legacy to be? The legacy is really.

>> Sachin Jax because I have no more kids. >> And it’s got to keep ago. And then both artistic, you know, doing its thing. Jack’s work now 40, it is Sacha grad school in Chicago for photography should great and just keep ago this. Keep it going and us. We’re lucky because

You you can make a living doing. We love you, blessed. I don’t think that always statements to enjoy the people on these guys are good and great and slave the job. The hate, you know, we’re blessed. How small or big enough so that they don’t touch it. And but

Some kids going to come in to see this year. She’s going to see that we want them to take the parents. >> Can explain in terms that children, young children on the stand, you know, just get a little bit of history. Not not think that, you know that

This plant little seeds me. That’s the thing. Maybe it’s something here. They might want to photographer and sports how to fix what might they was that Shirley Chisholm let them, Brooke, when the president announced a member, what do you want people to know about Brooklyn?

You could say the same question when want to know? But my films I’ve always been and the mind state like people going to get what they want. The new film side boys. That’s something happened. Was some controversy. Try to explain the film. I just I respect voices opinion

What they see, what they don’t see. So little light that you got from that. And now it’s stay the same thing depending who you are. You get responses were on these walls here with all different who you are is going to the afflicted what you like and dislike what you respond to.

>> It would be safe to say that if Spike Lee had grown up in Brooklyn, we would have a much different Spike Lee. >> Yes, but I like the full confess. I was not born in Wright was born in the gray baby was born in Atlanta, Georgia, move to Brooklyn.

I would not be to push why and if and that grew up in Blue. What are you most proud of? Tanya, you have document just want got nominated for at the shop. She’s doing nothing doing a created thing. Produce an documentary writing and and just the whole, the Lee family, my children.

So that’s that’s really, you know, the foundation, you know, get them. Yeah, you know, that’s what matters most. >> As you look back, any regrets anything? >> I mean that a lot of threats. But the funny what is that? You know, it’s summertime. Hamas has been you

And flow and the main street of the circuit. That would one day these guys so many sick, a miss by commercially some. So just so I won’t him. You was a Trump of his car and it is a look at things as what to say said the Crocs.

I want to invest this little bit of money, but I’m and I’m trying to get this thing. No one doubles. We called Crocs. >> As I’m sorry, it’s I mean, I can’t do that. >> Big that. You want to invest us a lot of money that

And they just look at funny to me. So past up that you did. Okay. >> Do you think people think it likely is? Depends who you ask. >> Haha. >> That let’s that’s and that’s as well. >> Good morning, everybody. >> Ladies, ladies. And we all came separate. We all just the

Same. So I don’t know what that means. But I think it was. Yeah, you know that. I talk a lot about how and I was saying to my friend said, of course, health at your age 8, your agent by age is very different. What are the issues that your

Age group is talking to that? Well, I’m 33 so majority of >> my friends and my age group are thinking about having kids having kids were on their second or 3rd child. I feel like the thing that we talked the most about in our friend

Group and also on be a baby is just overall burnout. And that’s burnout with your kids at home. It’s burnout in relationships and burnout with trying to make everything perfect your friendships, perfect. Your work life. Perfect. It’s just like an overall sense of burnout. And in need for support in that.

>> So when you go to your doctor for a checkup or we’re talking to your doctor about burnout, are you talking to her that’s actually talking to her about? >> Pregnancy, I feel like it’s definitely hormones pregnancy right now at this phase in my life. There’s a lot of

Questions now and I going about mental health, specific questions. How are you feeling at home? How are you feeling in pregnancies? How are you feeling? Postpartum? There’s a lot more awareness and conversation about that with doctors. I feel like and also in my friend group and I feel like you reflect on.

>> Having that kind of conversation when you are our age. When I talk to you, you’re talking about a kind of a whole different group of women who haven’t had children who are talking about. Should I freeze my eggs? How do I not get

Pregnant or should I be getting pregnant or should I be freezing? My eggs? You’re talking about PCOS. You’re talking about endometriosis. You’re talking about different things. Then I hear your age group are talking. So what is your grill talking about you, young women that you talked to

What they talk about when they talk about women’s health? >> You know what’s interesting is I know you’re saying long. 33 and get my agent on. Thank you. I saw on 32. Why were so far apart? Yeah. Haha. But my friends in our conversations

Like could not be more different. Yeah. A lot of my friends are working and trying to kind of figure out big life choices as to whether they want to freeze their eggs or a lot of them are, you know, not married yet. So they’re kind of

Struggling with questions about whether there with the partner they want to make Gary. And if they’re making the right choices, they’re struggling with financially shoes, Av one girlfriend or 2 girlfriends. Now that are married and the rest of them are really just trying to grapple with how do

The in the healthy U.S. relationship they can be n how they feel their best, whether it’s mentally emotionally or physically and kind of what got, you know, life song world looks like for them. It just feels like a couple years ago that. >> Most of our conversations were about birth control,

Right? You know, yeah, the right form of birth control. Should you be on the pill? Should you be on an IUD? What’s new out there that all the said it jumped to show. My gynecologist is telling me to yeah overnight, but it seems to jump really quickly from like your early 20’s.

>> Like the house to me because I went in after you had a BB and I went to my college is and I think 20 freeze my eggs and how much time do I have? And she I think those 27 or just turned 20 like you have so much time. Don’t worry about

It. I go in for 30 and she’s like so let’s talk now about freezing your eggs.

>> I think that it’s beautiful to be able to have the level of openness that I feel like our generation has with friends but being able to have the support that and the openness that you have with friends is I think. >> Great. How big is sexual health your generation like

When I was your age? I never went before spy had a male OBGYN. I know that shocking tape. >> I just I just it. It’s also like you want somebody who’s able to relate to their warrant that I grade boy at you’re like I can’t really? Yeah. There were no women.

>> You know, OBGYN at the time. You know, I remember well after having 4 kids, I talked to my OBGYN and he said, you know, how’s your sex life now? It’s like, Oh, my God, I want to talk to you about. Yeah, but you guys speak pretty openly about.

>> All of that, right? I mean, we speak openly about it. But also, you know, we’ve spoken to you about those things. And that’s definitely generational, Deborah says, because you would never of top tier Montanez car. >> Why think there’s also luckily like Katherine saying

That there’s so much more information today than there are ways. So there’s just there’s a lot more wearing it. I think now I think luckily actually from blunder generation raising the alarm about I’m having these health consequences right now. Could it be from the food I’m eating?

Could it be from the products have been using since I was a teenager? And I think that luckily, people who are responding with putting a lot of money to research by the same. >> You, Christina have done the spells one dealing with out are all one dealing with Xanax. How

>> big are those issues in your age group? Yeah. Movies also spotted out from my personal experience with medications. I knew I was doing person going through those experiences. I think that the mental health landscape has evolved so much as even within the past few years. And the level of awareness is

Amazing. And so now we’re able to how conversations around these topics without the kind of wait of my being judged. What are they thinking about the fact that I’m taking these medications that I actually find a lot more people my age today going into therapy, whether it’s a cognitive behavioral

Therapy or going on retreat or try acupuncture are trying to change their lifestyle or their diet to do all those things before they start taking medication. >> The other thing that seems to be kind of where we talk about women’s health has been a real surgeon women and alcohol,

Particularly women, you know, kind of had kids maybe are women who find themselves in their 30’s 40’s, a huge uptick in that and that conversation around your health do hear a lot about that. That’s all over social media. It’s all over social media. All over social media is like.

>> Drinking when you have kids drinking when your kids go to sleep, looking forward to that drink at the end of the day because of the chaos that is in your life between working between going and, you know, being a present parent to being

A partner like there’s so much. I saw somebody actually post recently about, you know, going against that. So many people are posting about going to games with, you know, their children’s soccer games and having alcohol in their caps are being able to go after you

Drop your kid off at school and getting a drink in the morning with those kinds of conversations and somebody recently posted we see people doing this but actually not funny. Yeah, there’s a larger conversation to be had there, which is why do you find yourself needing to have that drink? So we have,

You know, in our family where I think, you know, not the same as everybody that we talk about alcohol. A lot you’ve always raise asked with a very open communication about alcohol, about drugs, about what that does to you also understanding that, you know, as we grew up, that we would

Experiment with certain things in that we could be lucky enough to be open with you in on us and also have our siblings and not. But also there is as you get to certain chapters of life, there is seems to me, especially since entering mother had theirs.

Definitely like a big push of moms being Mike, these kids, they’re crazy like I need to have a drink. And that’s something that I see widespread across America. Everybody goes, you know, they’re having to be responsible for their own insurance. Like finding a

Doctor who’s in the network. How much this all costs for going. Doctors appointments because of the cost of that. Yeah. >> I know a lot of actually it’s important to a lot of girlfriends that forgo kind of annual physicals a lot of times because they either can’t afford insurance and they’re

Not getting their job. I think a lot of them are lucky to get it through their job, though, too. But I think that just we’re talking about kind of the advocacy and awareness trying to find someone that’s right for you. Yeah, but also something that I personally struggle with mice, all this

Like you have to be your own self advocate. And that takes a lot of like internal kind of 14 confidence in yourself because you can easily be swayed are easily be silence and a lot of ways when it comes to being with a doctor practitioner. And I think tonight

That kind of goes hand and we’re trying to find the right doctor, trying to find a prescription or trying to find the right P t R whatever it is right. Acupuncturists is being able to really now at this point understand that you have to be your own advocate when you look at women.

>> My age are women who are in their 50’s women who start talking about a gene. Does that freak you out or do you think like or >> I feel like I’m having the conversation about a gym, but I’m also haha. So 16 like to a searing clowning and my

God, I say to my friends. >> Oh, my gosh. These girls in their 30’s talk more about being old. Then I did. I mean, we’re really lucky that we have like we look at you and I’m like. >> That’s goals. You know, like you are very on top of your

Mental health, your physical health, spiritual health.
