Fastest I’ve Ever Got Custom Fit Clubs?! | PXG Black Ops Driver, Fairway Wood and Hybrid Fitting!

PXG Black Ops is here, and the new technology is seriously exciting. I headed down to the new PXG Store in London for a full PXG Custom Fitting to test out the new Black Ops range.

PXG know how to do a fitting! Me and my club fitter, Jack, cover all things Black Ops as well as discussing if you should use the same shaft in your new driver, swing weighting, face closure and much more!

I got fitted for the brand new PXG Black Ops driver and then did a full top of the bag gapping session to dial in my woods. So what PXG clubs did I end up with? You’ll have to watch the video to find out…

In the last hour I’ve been fit for and had my brand new pxd driver built but what is it let’s go find out so we’re at the new pxg store in London believe it or not there’s a fitting Center in the back of here so we’ve got the brand new

Black Ops range which isn’t actually out at the point in time that we’re recording this and we’re going to get fit and see all the new drivers fairwoods and hybrids so this is going to be really Exciting Right let’s hit a you with this first this as a look see what’s going on like if you could improve on this driver now into the new Black Ops is it Pur like a launch thing then I guess like a loft perspective yeah I would say like in

General my bad Drive goes left okay like just like a little duck h left or high slinging one du Hy left okay cool like it starts left and it goes left and it gives me [Laughter] nightmares that was you remember what length this one was built to I don’t remember what

Length it is the thing is I was hitting it so well at the time they just didn’t want to change the length of it that might be just a thing where like you find that little inconsistent in the strike at times yeah so we might just

Play around the length you go short we can go longer just to really find where you can hit it more at the middle guess for you at the level you’re playing at yes you want to gain yardage but you just want to do this yeah if you just

Play once a week you know let’s call it 52 times a gear if you could hit one more Fairway each time you play that’s 52 more Fairways a year you know what does that look like in terms of your scoring you know like small little games

Can make a real big difference so if you imagine if you play twice a week that’s like 104 more Fairways you know so you can start doing the the mass and like little changes can make real big difference but more so it’s more for you

It’s that bad hit so when I look at new dve me yes gaining yardage is good but I want to make sure when I gain yardage that my bad one when I hit it bad like mine’s a low neck that it doesn’t carve off yeah you know that’s the big thing

Really well I think like at the point where like I’m quite comfortable with how far I hit it and if I wanted to hit it further I’d just train to be faster yeah whereas like you just want to stand and yeah know what it’s doing yeah definitely Black Ops is made for you

Then he’s saying all the right things how I said my bad shots left and then have not hit one left well I have changed like my swing character just a lot okay since cuz like my attack angle like five different from when I got fit for this last time yeah and my swing

Speed is that more neutral where you find it now attack angle wise yeah okay cool all right let me put something together for you so I’m seeing gloss Black Ops okay glossy head this year hly compared to where we’ been the matte finish previously you got high composite

Crown and OB composite Soul now it’s a little bit different from where it’s previously been OB still keeping in cooporation our Precision waiting that we also use new face technology so we got called an AM F face looks a bit deeper yeah slightly deeper little bit Str still 460

CCC so this isign to be launch higher keep the spin low so maximum distance maximum forgiveness okay so we just go 9° to begin with so basically what you’ve got Weight Wise set up in this compared to current one you got two and a half grams in the front two and half

Grams in the heel and toe sorry and you got 12 and 1 half in the back it looks nice I like the contrast of the like two colors it did sound different didn’t it oh look how much higher it’s gone straight away yeah SP was up yeah I see little cut

More spin than that no all right of [Laughter] P have you ever hit Acro before don’t think so no okay so it’s interesting Acra tz6 so there’s couple of models use I play the tz5 version personally but the tz6 is basically High launcher shaft quite lower spinning so we might have a

Little play in to see where we’re at but what you’ll find with tz6 it’s got a quite a reactive tip to it so you might really find that when we lose a little bit right at the moment might just help we just screw it up a bit easier for

Us how is it initially sound to you good it definitely sounds different to the overall so they’ve worked hard on like really trying to get that frequency right with this new one but it does sound like quite nice and loud you know I feel sometimes when you have those

Like the carbon drivers nowadays they sound very like fuddy and you feel like you hit them you’re like doesn’t yeah you can feel the you can definitely feel like I like when you can feel when you’ve hit a good shot and you can feel the difference between like that and a

Bad shot which you don’t always get sometimes cuz like it’s feedback yeah yeah definitely yeah I’m consistent there like shaft wise how does that initially sort of feel good yeah compared to what you’ve been using previously I like it yeah a lot that people don’t necessarily realize about

Shafts because they’ll kind of just go pull one off the sh shelf that’s like cuz it says stiff but actually that means a different thing for like every company yeah yes like each manufacturer stiff will be very different frequencies so they’ll have different B profiles throughout so some manufacturer stiff

Will be close to some’s regulars or even some’s extra stiff just depends on how they sort of like to like this you with KBS you’ll probably find it feels a lot more of a slightly smoother profile so it won’t feel like you have to really

Work hard at it so let’s have a hit with that see a launching the spin on that’s pretty good to fa Hannah so let’s just tweak move these weights around now slightly and basically what I’m I’m just going to split it now so and your 12 and/ half G in about 2

And half G in the heel I’m just going to basically 7 and half G in the back 7 and half G in the heel so it’s slightly see that slightly high launch but just enough it make this turn over a smidge for us bit more ball speed I always am Miss how much

Difference those ways make crazy isn’t it so like we kept the same amount of weight in the head instead of being 12 and 1 half back two and a half in the heel i’ basically just took that 15 gr total weight and then just split it across the two weight ports and still

Kept that two and a half in the toe which is basically like a a blank really for us typically the default setting is big weight in the back of the head and then this is where now we come in and we just tweak and move it around just to F

Tune it wherever you need it to be oh that was healing see that’ be the one for me where I look at when I’m hitting you’ve it’s like low and Healy not very good but it’s five yards right of Target yeah you know all right yes the yardage has dropped off a

Little bit you know talking 15 20 yards and carry but you hit that it’s on the th you know all right You’ not hit it well and it’s where you’re trying to get it down M you know if you’ve hit it 244 three and you’ve scabbed it down there you walk

Down and go that’s perfect I’ll get on from here you know that’s the big thing it’s definitely better launch better spin more ball speed you know CH as well yeah 13.6 launch 2 and a half hour spin you know that be right in the sort of wheelhouse where you want to

Be 78 ft in the air yes You’ just hit it a little bit slightly heel so it’s just cut off slightly left the face sort of degree open but on the whole that’s pretty strong and you can see now flightwise before we were below that mountain it’s now up and above it you

Know a lot of difference in terms of height I was this weird thing where for like literally 27 years of my life everyone was like you need to hit it lower every fitting it’s so different now switched I was like how’s this what’s happened because obiously before like the

Technology in drivers always like a lot of spin so you’re just trying to control spin now you got the ability where most drivers now they done to launch High spin very low so it’s trying to really the way to maximize driver distance high low spin you know if you watch the tour

Guys they’ll hit it skyh high and it’ll go forever with just no spin so like for you because you hit up on it you know I want you to feel like you can hit it as high as you can really if you were hitting it negative into it then we

Would drain it a lot more spin then we might have a few more issues to sort of try and navigate but for you just te up and send it really give it a rip smidge toe I still feel solid in terms of like speed but that’s a good strike the only

Thing there just that face is four and a half Degrees open it’s not what anyone want here could load this up bit more in the heel for you yeah but mon Cent is then you might find it yeah yeah to be honest like my face is

Not nor with that open but my path so I’ve been trying to move my path for the right cuz I’ve been like two to three left okay so you can see like I’ve been working really hard on moving my path R which I have done but I’m not matching

The first yeah the is good to really hit that KN you just got to feel you just release that head but obvious it’s like is my face open now cuz I’ve moved the path mhm it will be but then cuz I’m scared of hitting it left I’m like oh do

I want so before you probably would have hit maybe a slight fade I guess cuty one yeah yeah which means it starts left moves back on target when you shift path now right of Target okay and the face doesn’t so basically now you hitting a push Li really so the face isn’t really

Changed the path’s moved so before you was getting away of it because it started left and moved towards Target now it’s starting right target but just not so you need to feel like it yeah good okay so let’s move this around I don’t really want you to feel like

You’re flipping your hands at it generally youve moved the path nicely you’ve worked hard on changing that path and your deliver is nice you just want to aim like imagine you got a clock on the floor you know 12 with your target line aim at two and just just let it go

Hopefully we’re this wake now oh no oh no I do do this sometimes where we flip the weights where it’s meant to do one thing and then do the complete opposite that is yeah that was that was n and a half open I definitely put it in the heel

Okay look honestly I do that all the time I feel that was a really good one but we didn’t get it I know yeah okay yeah cool the driver work for you left of Target actually really really enjoying the feel of this in the ball speed wish I S the

Face it’s quite annoyed actually it’s like not what I normally do at all but to be honest like the consistency of it is what I’m looking for because I just want something I can put and play more consistently and hly the carrying all that’s good but having like consistent

Sh sh is really important to me and even if it’s like different to what I’ve been H doesn’t matter as long as it’s cons this is where like I might just put you in something similar launching profile but just just spinner touch more how does it feel with that weight being

Slightly bit more in the heel now it easier to release it uh a little bit yeah yeah the stri feels quite different I did hit that right off the top of the first so that’s my so what would be the difference between these two uh or from

The KBS to this so KBS more mid- launch low spin this is more mid mid now it’s probably a very similar profile to that hazardous as well that you’ve been using that’s interesting cuz that felt cutting went straight actually quickest ball speed of the day 140 that’s a straight

Just over the mountain probably a bit more reactive than that CS is like you probably feel like it will help square up a bit more at the bottom you know if you look now your face Ang struggled all day like between like four to five open

That time was 0.5 oh yeah and you haven’t changed in terms of that path it’s still moving right like you wanted to you’re still hitting up on it just a different profile sha will just help get that club delivered back in a slight better position holy hly left okay I’m back

Just seeing the bull speed there and the spin rate I think just going a smidge more LOF now it’s going to be magic these are all the little things we just don’t know how to do so I tell them to get fit oh nice if I’m being critical I

Don’t think you H that your best strike of the day and if you think like the launch spin wise you know getting the bll you just CAU a little bit high in the head again face angle really good launch spin that comes you miss hit you

Know down the middle nice and tight but still decent yardage take that that’s that’s what you want isn’t it quite like that shaft let’s put it in like the same but just a bit more Loft in the head oh oh nice it’s definitely a better launch isn’t

It very good so feel like that now just turns the smid too much um that’s the longest carry all day I don’t mind turn as long as it starts on target okay what I don’t like is when this is the beauty now where like that

Weights 12 and a half grams in the heel yeah if you wanted that to be a bit more neutral we could just move it back into the the back position you know that’s launched at 15° span at 2140 yeah you know like but what’s that finish left to Target like 15 yards well

This is 5 yard line here this is 15 so it’s seven seven yards left I can think I can deal with seven yards left it’s whether you want to feel like if you want to really maximize it then that’s the feeling you want to have where you feel like you’re still hitting

Into out and hopefully that weight would just allow the head to feel you can hit that draw yeah you got I feel like I’ve hit quite hard at that and it’s still it’s gone seven left well that’s your longest carry by far we’ve been around most of the day where you start started

At the start of the day you were you like 217 you know that last hit there went 231 nearly in the air you know and the big change really then you find is we launching it a lot higher you were 12 and a half before like you took that out

Of the equation you know spin was 22 roughly 2 three 12 and a half launch that last one like 15 launch strike Plum at the middle screwing ah head up a better as well and more attack angle more attack angle more ball speed wins everywhere basically wins everywhere if

This isn’t the lesson and getting fit and I don’t know what is but this is where sometimes like the difference between you may be M playing Seven half in your previous driver but that characteristics of what that driver does in terms of launch and spin yeah it’s very different you know

So you could have 20 10 and a half degree drivers here they will all probably launch and spin completely different this is why I try to explain to people when they’re like cuz a lot of time if I do like head-to-head comparisons use different shafts and different drivers and why are you doing

That and I’m like well the same shaft doesn’t perform the same in each Club head each Club head is different yeah nice nice I feel like I can hit this hard and control it that’s 97.4 that’s the longest carry as well that’s gained four yards in the previous one bit

Heavy how does that feel though like nice I really like it okay have H the controll I put something similar in that’s about a quart an inch shorter than what a standard would be but this time I’ve left the weight in the back in this one so more the neutral position

Okay this is the freeway this is okay oh that sounded nice that sounded Lush I sounded fast hot that how high that is done next I can’t believe how high that was so this is like slightly different material now from the driver still like same composite Crown this is a stainless

Steel now so we’ve gone away from using titanium in the head so basically with the stainless here we can get the face thinner so it flexes more so it launch higher so nice yeah so really basically trying to do what you just going to hit nice and high keep the

Spin low to again maximize it and really produce a good flight out of it cuz that looks like the same window as my driver yeah pretty close yeah 87 ft I like it personally cuz I like the woods are feels very similar in case of like I’ve gone here because obviously we’ve worked

Through a number of shafts already and trying to find something that works well weight profile for you but really gets that launch and that spin where you need to be you know like T are blue you went in it it was squaring a head up straight away um keeping it very similar profile

To what you’re in this is like you’re in a KBS very similar to that this you just mirror the two up really that sounds awesome it sounds so good doesn’t it so this has got like a an internal sort of rib channel in it again so it just stiffens up the

Structure between the face and the crown those ENT hits become a lot more stable like the sound of that just sanded we just gone from the longest drive fit to the quickest if you think about in terms of a gapping point of view you’re carrying a driver around 225 5 23 you

Want this to roll out towards that sort of number so where this one finishes the next one starts you know that’s launch and spin wise there 90 ft in the air like pretty money I guess oh I do just love a hybrid oh it sits nice too I like

It’s like kind of a cross between an iron like hybrid and a round hybrid just sometimes people make them really too square but sometimes they can also be too round if that makes sense but this has like an element of birth in it I my only thing like with hybrids

Traditionally in the past I always feel they sit really upright and I feel like they sit very closed so and I’m a bit like I don’t want to ever really see it go left so with with the hybrids here I always feel they sit very Square um and

The beauty of what we ask you are for in our like our hle essentially we can make this flatter in L angle we can move it 3° flat you know which is a real good thing yeah small as well it’s nice oh that’s nice I like that the height of

It as well it’s not like yeah you find with a fivewood now then like it’s all lie dependent I guess yeah yeah and so like I have like the smallest fivewood physically possible so I can use it more but then obviously it’s not actually that forgiven because

It’s a small food so you probably might as well have a hybrid correct yeah but I think sometimes sometimes the hybrid you can get it where one that it’s too upright and two it can go high but spin loads and windy you can’t control it you

Want a club that’s like when it’s not looking pretty lie wise you can get this in get it out you know that’s that’s what where these are real because you can really really good yeah you can’t do that with a four no you can’t you can’t

No yeah 100% um and I do sometimes the five one’s a bit too far from the four iron if you’re in a sense where it’s a bad lie or it’s a it’s a really hard forine to get there that’s quite a hard shot to hit like a hard for h a soft

Hybrids a little bit e yeah wow oh how consistent that is again like if if you look at where that finishes Hanah that’s where the free was Landing you know imagine just stood out hitting like 207 out from the green and you can hit this now nearly 90 feet in

The air and land it in it’s going to be a big difference isn’t it yeah cuz I think now I almost have a bit too big of a gap because like my 4 Ang is like 17 uh like 180 but then I’ve not got my

Five with fly is 200 so it’s like if if you get that situation where it’s like it’s not really a for iron you’re basically like down here with the five would like not really a shot you want for definitely oh that’s nice the shaft has been a real winner 75 G

Stiff so these are now set up with at 12 and half GR in the hybrid in the fair with the weight back mhm so this is something that you can maybe play with with the driver then potentially if you find it like just turns a bit too much

Then you basically just pull him out and stick him back here yeah just to neutralize him again all right that feels like good to me who knows I can get a big L this if it comes back yeah I’m not going to let it come back

  1. I’ve hit a friends PXG clubs and there’s no doubt about quality and performance but I’d never game them. Calling stuff “Black Ops” being the #1 reason.

  2. Hi Hannah – not a trick question but I watched you being fitted for the TM Qi10. is the PXG the club that you will play for the season or are you trying out all the manufacturers?

  3. Great content and fitting looks to be good one. Would like to know all of final club build details for each club. I.E. stated head loft on the head, turned “X” degrees up or down; shaft brand, model, wt & flex, etc.

  4. I just switched the top end to all PXG. Dr (Tensei Blue AV 55reg), 3w (Tensei Blue CK 60reg), 21*h, and 28*h (both are KBS TGI 60reg). Living here in AZ, I was able to pick them up w/in 48 hours. I LOVE them! 🥰

Top notch group of guys and gals over at PXG!

  5. Hannah, you are doing some of the best content out there, at a very high level, but with relatable club head speeds, for a very wide group of golfers. It is great that you are enthusiastic at each fitting, and try to get the best versions of the clubs from each manufacturer, Afterwards I suppose you will use them outdoors in "real conditions", and decide what is the best bag set up for you. A lot of the older male YouTubers seem to be getting a bit jaded about the new releases, as it seems that we have got to the stage of "the law of diminishing returns" over the last few years and there doesn't seem to be a lot of real improvement in the clubs. However, fot those changing their clubs every few years or the addicts who change each year, what you do is very important.

  6. I enjoy you channel, with your honesty and true love of the game. I’m excited to see more of your content, keep up the good work.

  7. Loved the review. I would be surprised if you didn't bag all three of those clubs this season or 2 out 3, perhaps. What more could you be looking for in terms of dispersion and height? Looked excellent! Your final results we baller and your swing is looking great! Interestingly, I got refit this past December, and for budgetary reasons, with the Gen5 XF head when they were selling it for $275 CDN. I used the savings on the head to upgrade to a Graphite Design Tour AD IZ 5R shaft, an extra $260 upgrade charge and I gained 2 degrees of launch and 20 yards on my drive, from a 2-gen old head!! My shaft from the prior season was also the Tensei Blue 65 stiff and I liked the shaft (I'm keeping it for a mini-driver configuration), but I could not get the exceptional launch and ball speed from the GD shaft. Just felt easier to load and turn over. In the fitting I managed a personal best of 230 carry, 14 degree launch and 270 total distance @ 95 mph with a ballspeed of 144 (all trackman), and on the middle of the fairway. Spin was mid-2000s. Pretty exceptional numbers for that swing speed. I have no doubt the black ops head would be even better, especially on the dispersion front and a bit more ball speed. But the price point of $800 CDN is just way outside the budget right now (I bagged the Gen5 driver with premium shaft for $535 CDN, which is still loads cheaper than their newest driver…which I still want one day). But it just goes to show how important shaft selection is and I think I'm a premium shaftoid for life now as the feel on the GD shaft was so exceptional. Just felt fun to hit the driver and the dispersion was great. I could really feel the loading and unloading of the shaft and that helped all my sequencing to be considerably better than the Tensei. I also when with the Graphite Design DI hybrid shaft (85S) in the two Gen6 hybrids that I added to my order and the results were unbelievable for dispersion and distance. Again, I gamed the tensei hybrid shaft the prior season with great results, but the GD hybrid shaft is something else. I'm really aggressive with my attack angle and speed on hybrid shots and that GD-DI shaft just did not relent, partly due to the strong tip on it. PXG hybrids are seriously underrated!!! So easy to launch aggressively from the deep rough too.

  8. I replaced my Gen 6 0311XF driver, which is fantastic paired with the GD XC shaft, with the Black Ops, and could not be happier. I also have the Gen 6 0311XF hybrid, Gen 6 0311P irons, and the Battle Ready 2 Bat Attack putter. This is the best set of clubs I have had to date.

  9. Nice review….I think not would be great if you also listed the specs of the final results like brand, shaft, weight, flex, length, etc in all of your reviews…. My 2c.

  10. First time watching and subscribed after my daughter told me she spoke with you today. Excellent video and looking forward to watching more.

  11. Another great video and really good to see the insights and thought process when you get fitted and select your main priorities for a club and what you don't want it to do. The 3 wood was money right out the gate. Maybe as an option ditch the 4 iron and pop another hybrid in. Its great to have choices. Love the videos and fitting sessions. Think it would be great to see some on course footage with the clubs after fitting. Time for some you tuber grudge matches…….
