So over the years coob have been very renowned for some bright colors remember Ricky Fowler in the orange we had some orange blue white different driver heads this year is completely different we’ve got dark speed as a model name and it’s completely blacked out we’ve got three

Models and we’re going to hit all three models in this video Okay so we’ve got three models as we mentioned that’s going to hit different types of golfers so we’ve got the first one which is the ls stands for low spin as you can imagine that’s where a bit more

Adjustability in the weight in the so where we can get into that low spin head bit more Neer compact head and it’s a little bit of a faster head which we’re going to talk a little bit about in this video then we move into the dark speed X

This is probably going to be the drive for most golfers out there a little bit larger profile in the head a little bit more forgiveness and we’ve got a little bit of moveable weight from front to back so we can adjust the launch and spin accordingly depending on your

Delivery and then finally we’ve got the dark Speed Max so again larg profile head maximizing a little bit more forgiveness again two moveable weight so we can move the weight from the back into the heel of the driver to make it a little bit more of a draw biased so

We’re going to kick things off with the dark speed X so this is the one with the two moveable weights from front to back so let’s look at the bottom of the golf club first and as I mentioned before this is as the name suggests dark speed

This is blacked out we see Carbon on the sole right across the bottom obviously you’ve got those adjustable weights got that power shell that again we talk a little bit about adjustable neck sleeve but blacked out black face and then into that plain position we’ve got a pretty

Large profile head a little bit more of a elongated from that front to the back so obviously try to shift that weight as far back to make this a little bit more forgiving but again matte black finish it is very black as the name would suggest really good look to on that

Light the stealth look of that it sits incredibly Square in that playing position very subtle the C Cobra logo on the top which again is black so it’s very subtle and we just see a little bit of the white etching of the uh Groove they’re not actually grooves but they

Look like grooves on the club face so I’ve got my um fuic cor aventus blue in all of these heads and we’re going to keep that the same okay so good scentered strike to start with just move up that right hand side a little bit and that sounded

Pretty explosive we got definitely got that carbon sort of feel to that that carbon sound to we know feel and sound very sort of similar things so it’s an interesting one with Cobra for 2024 is they talk a lot of about speed aerodynamics is still a big talking

Point in their particular drivers and not really maybe talking about forgiveness as much as maybe what we’ve seeing with the other brands so in this X model we’ve got this sort of the head that sort of shapes off to a point at the back of the driver now this point on

The X model is a little bit of a lower they’re calling it a skirt here at the back so a little bit of a lower skirt at the back which obviously going to allow get weight further back and down which does help with forgiveness also creates

A little bit more of an airl Dynamic Club head trying to maximize pet speed this this shaping will change through the models which we’re going to take a little look at but really nice said definitely a cobra looking driver right testing the Forgiveness out it’s a little bit of a high toe strike

That’s very high more because of the strike there than anything else it’s got a launch there spins very low that’s a decent distance from a bit of a mish hit there from me so just going back onto the solar golf we’ve got those two

You’ve got 12 G weight and a 3 G weight so at the moment I’ve got the 12 G weight at the front of this driver so this is helping to create a little bit low lower spin characteristics maybe a little bit more ball speed potentially and if you wanted a little bit more

Forgiv there we can just flip those around and put in the 12 the heavyweight at the back of the golf just helps to increase maybe a little bit launch a little bit spin also that forgiveness levels that’s that’s a super shot there little bit toe but again that uh speed

Good there really pleas that club spin low spin maybe a little bit that tow strike got me that so OB we’ve got this carbon head which we have seen in the past but it’s 30% thinner now in the dark speed So that obviously save a little weight as we know with everything

It’s going to get repositioned in the right parts B to maximize maybe that CG location launch spin characteristics okay another good strike and that is flying very very straight good launch again that spins in that lower category this is really good maximizing mad carry the 280 carry is

Good for me edging that 300 mark So as we’ve seen with many Cobra drivers we’ve got the myfly adjustability in this neck sleeve so we can adjust that Loft up and down by up to 1.5° with some draw settings in there as well so some nice

Just ability in the next s to down your Loft face angle L angle as well as then this movable weight on the bottom okay that’s probably the worst strike I’ve hit there a little bit that heel just pull that the left hand side touch lower cuz of the strike but that

Spin’s quite controll that two and a half expects that to maybe pop up a little bit through that strike the droping the distance isn’t that bad right so shaft now switched over into the max head so max as we uh would appreciate it’s going to be the most

Forgiving option this is a little bit more of a draw biased driver if you want it to be or you can have it a little bit more set neutral so again we’ve got that shaping of the head long from that front to the back so maximizing that maximum

Head in a way again playing position it’s a pretty big footprint here now this is a 10.5 degree head I haven’t got a 9 degree head in this particular driver and it does sit a little bit more closed now at dress a little bit more tow in as you’re probably going to

Expect for this type of Drive most of the golfers may be going into this are possibly trying to reduce that that left to right shape for that right-handed golf so that’s just going to help with things so because it’s a 10.5 head I’m going to take advantage of the

Adjustable next sleeve and knock this Loft down by 1.5 so I’m getting this back down to 9° in the head now and and that will slightly open the face so for me personally that now sits a little more squarer which I like but it’s down to

That 9° Loft which is my preference so again look of it is matte black everything’s blacked out yet again we just got a little bit of red dashing on the Max and a couple flickers on the so but very very limited there looks again very stealth

Kick things off and that’s a little bit of higher ball fly there so again two we ports in this we’ve got one in the center at the back of the sole but then we’ve got one in the heel so obviously we can switch these around 12 G and 3 G

Again and I’ve got this set at 12 at the back so I’m playing this in its most forgiving setting and obviously a little bit higher flow should probably where that just come out then when you look at that the spin number is still very sort of controled so if you can get that

Little bit of flight on there that launch but get that spin on the control it’s a great combination get some extra distance okay that’s struck a bit higher up in that club face that popped up really high more through the strip than anything else to be honest obiously that

Pulls a little bit of spin off and of course with the Max and the 12 G weight for you move that into the heel of the golf club that creates a little bit more that draw biased effect and obviously then you’ve also got the backup the next

Sleeve as well so if you want to put in that draw set in the next seve as well as the weight and heel you’re maximizing that draw Bas in this club okay again high ball flly so that weight back there and this Max Head definitely getting that ball fly a

Little bit higher for me on that particular run of shots so availability wise in the Max and the X becoming a nine a 10.5 and 12° both right and left hand okay finally now moving into the ls so LS obviously stands for low spin and

This is a little bit more of a talking point in this Cobra lineup slightly more compact head now and a higher skirt at the back so this is the most aerodynamic head of the three models which is an interesting one because obviously this is going to be aimed of the fastest of

Club head speeds generally it’s interesting why they haven’t done that in the other models but I understand maybe why because obvious that skirt gets higher the crown is a little bit more flatter at the top of the club so that’s moving that CG in the can throw

It then a little bit more higher and forward so when you’re trying to maximize forgiv you probably want it low and back as far back as you possibly can so that’s probably the reasoning why again Carbon on the sole we’ve got three weight ports now we’ve got two 3 G

Weights and one 12 G weight so we can switch that them around accordingly now I’m going to start off with the 12 G weight in the center at the back of the driver and then I’m going to move it forward a little bit and maybe in a

Couple of shots and see if that just changes the spin and everything like that 90° headset at 9° in the same sha I’ve just been hitting in the others now no fle bit more compact in the head still a little bit of that triangular sort of shape to it but definitely a

Little more compack six beautiful Square Again okay a little bit to just working up that left hand side felt pretty solid off the club face good club head speed so been interesting one the club head speed with this aerodynamic head do I get a little bit more out of it we’ll soon see slightly high toe strike pulled

Spin with a low spin head see 1,700 on that spin that’s running out pretty aggressively there but unfortunately that shot is running into that bunk pretty aggressively as well so this is maybe where you just going to probably look at strike pattern maybe in that fitting scenario and if you’re missing

It on that slightly high to toe side of the golf there was a pattern for you we know that’s going to pull spin off so then you might not need the low spin head you might then go into the into the X head just to try and keep some spin on the

Ball that’s ripped I mean that’s pretty high that that’s fall pretty high getting a little bit higher on the toe yeah got that there launched at 14 CL speed’s good control spin 282 car that’s pretty long sing a little bit more launch there and control that spin it

Just keeps that ball going forward in the air for a little bit longer see the height there 129 ft is pretty high that felt solid okay that’s going pretty high yeah it’s a better strike there getting cool be in that 113 Max just getting a little bit more speed we

Look at numbers a little B more detail at the end again the launch is up there and a decent Carri number again so what I’m just going to do now is just switch this 12 G weight more to the front of the club okay so I’ve just moved now

That 12 G weight let’s have a little play around with this weight positioning so I’ve moved a 3 g into the back and I move the 12 G weight forward and into the toe now obviously you could put it into the heel I put it into the toe just

To maybe try and reduce that little pull that I generally sort of see as a pattern so maybe just try and keep that CL face a little bit more Square for longer hopefully is the plan here so interesting to see if this just changes that spin number there maybe even a

Little bit of that launch as well so potentially making this a little bit less forgiving by doing this but it might just get some slightly different numbers that’s a good strike and that is definitely lower visibly lower there and the strike was still slightly height of

Center so it wasn’t the strike Clow the face given that spins good that came out definitely a little bit more of that forward flat I feel much more comfortable flight coming back into a wind so just talk a little bit about the other technology that’s featuring this

Club we’ve seen these before but have again been slightly improved in the newer version we’ve got this hot that hot face which is now ai design so multiple sweet spots is what cobra’s saying around this CL face obviously create fast ball speeds on M hits we’ve

Got this power sort of bridge which is like a suspended weight in the front of the golf again that’s all around that sort of CG placement again trying to get some ball speed off the club face so plenty happening in this is Cobra driver and such a better flight for me that was

A touch toe yeah so now that I’ve got that extra bit of weight and that toe of the golf club this is an interesting one here now because that was a little bit toey see the ball speed is still high 16 ft I’m putting Mass slightly into the

Toe where I’ve missed that strike and that’s keeping my ball speed up and keeping that smash Factor up as well so I was just going to say that the price of this golf club is now quite refreshing compared to others 429 is what you’re going to come in at with the

Dark speed so a lot of adjustability a lot of tech got the carbon got the adjustability 429 is a great price point much lower than many of the drivers from the big Brands out there for 2024 so availability wise in the ls we’ve got an

8° 9° and a 10.5 and apparently that 8° head is a little bit more compact again than this 9° that I’ve got in my hands so for me a very impressive range from Cobra loads of adjustability plenty of tech and a very nice price point at 429

Post comments down below let know your thoughts on this range from Cobra and hopefully it will catch you all very soon

  1. 12:25 429 pounds in the U.K. but $549 in the U.S. Still, that is lower than the TaylorMade Qi10 US$629, Callaway Ai Smoke US$599, Titleist TSR models $599 Ping 430 Max 10K US$599. The newest models from Tour Edge and Wilson have yet to come out, but I would expect them to be somewhat lower in price (but not performance?). Thank you for the review. Always to-the-point and informative.

  2. Great video as always. I got fitted last summer and ended up choosing the AeroJet LS. I love the driver. These are nice looking drivers also

  3. Your video sound isn't up to the quality you normally do, like an echo sound.

But hey I always enjoy your reviews.

  4. Dispersion is horrendous with them. Went to a fitting centre and everyone was struggling with dispersion with these drivers

  5. Cobra has come a long way in catching up to the “big boys” like TM,Callaway and Ping.Had a fitting day just 3 days ago and this Driver in fact all 3 were so impressive ! Tried them all as did 4 friends that were with me and two of my buddies decided to put them in the bag and game them this year. Both guy’s went with the X !

  6. All the new Drivers sound great and look great!!! My 15 year old Nickent 9° draw driver and my 2022 Mizuno STZ 220 go just as far. No need for an upgrade for me. Thank you for the review. Cobra makes a beautiful product!!
