The one thing I would say and this is sometimes what annoys with golf Brands it’s up to Brands how often they release new equipment that’s up to them that’s their prerogative and nobody has to buy it again we know that most products from year to year change such a small amount

However what does annoy me and it would annoy me very much if I was an actual Pay customer let’s be honest is that ping last year brought out the g430 max LST Tech and SF Tech which you alluded to they’ve now gone and gone with a 10K

Max more forgiving version if I was a hardcore ping fan and I knew last year whatever date it was the g430 was coming out and I booked into my local Pro Shop to get a fit in said look I’m a ping fanatic I’ve always loved ping I grew up

Loving Lee Westwood blah blah blah I want the new driver and on that very quick one and I know ping don’t release all the time I know ping only release every two years correct and I’m playing off 24 I don’t hit the ball very well and I want a forgiving driver at the

Time I would have got fitted I’m sure maybe for F Tech but more than likely the max drive and I walk away with that best part 500 quid very happy with it a few months later it’s not that they’ve replaced it for a G4 whatever they’ve gone with another one in that same

Family that is now more forgiving and and there’s other brands who’ve done this before Titus did it they did it with a TS um two and three they then brought out a TS one and a ts4 later down the line making a quite a controversial video about that actually

Did and I think a lot of the time this comes down to two things it comes down maybe materials things that we don’t think of as customers but maybe they can’t get certain components in time from factories or whatever and the other reason the big reason that ping done it

Let’s be honest is that they know they released their driver when they did went down very well great driver but when ping released their drivers is not around that review season sorry that other Brand’s release season so they get all those sales for their driver but

Then what can happen is coming 2024 for a lot of people who are interested in ker the g430 can now look old cuz it’s last year so all you do then is which they have done you drop a new one into the conversation the 10K Max that then

Gets you more sales looks good for you know for their brand and it almost reignites the other part of the family from last year as well do you think also to some degree why it’s why they’ve also priced it very expensive yeah I think it’s 529 quid or something no

59999 wow I think I think they’ve brought that out as well it’s almost like well surely this driver has got to be better cuz it’s more expensive than the others yeah maybe but yeah it’s a good driver but I think all of these drivers and again we’ve said this before

We’ll say it again they’ve got a lot of sex up let’s be honest you look at them the shiny the new they suddenly make the old ones look old you see the best players in the world using them you watch the reviews and before you know it

  1. They will keep doing it as long as the consumer keeps buying them. Personally I think it’s hugely disrespectful to their loyal consumer base. New driver range comes out and you go to get fitted into the best one for your game but they’re deliberately holding one back from you to try. Very poor.

  2. 100% Disagree! Price set aside, I want product development!! (And I think we all do) If you need the latest and the greatest it is up to you. Pay up and be happy.

  3. I can't believe I started golfing in the 80's and looked forward to the new Pings, or Lynx or Callaway….and 40 years later, we still wait for the new Ping, Cally, PXG, Taylormade to make the magic excalibur that will revolutionize our games…..we are hopeful till the bitter end!

  4. I totally think the technology of the clubs has evolved and therefore you should update but (and I’m not boasting or gloating one bit) I used to be a PGA pro and still play with s56 irons and titleist 913 Driver and knock it about lvl. Stick with what you have and invest in lessons. I guarantee you won’t hit the new max better than the last one.

  5. You're whining over nothing. Everything you buy will be replaced next year by a newer model – your phone, car, TV, clothes style. No surprise there. We know that before we buy. If you bought the G430 Max because it performs well for you then it will still perform well for you even after the G430 10K is released. You're still good. And as Rick has pointed out so many times, the difference between one year to the next is generally negligible and not worth the money. It seems you're trying to champion the guy who bought the latest Ping model thinking he had 2 years of special bragging rights as the owner of the latest Ping driver and has now been cheated out of 1 year. If bragging rights and showing off your new, shiny toys is more important than your score then you're buying for the wrong reason. If "latest, greatest" is your thing then you're probably using equipment from a company with a 1-year release cycle anyway.

  6. Two things to ponder…
    1. Isn't it odd that every manufacturer decided that 2024 was going to be the year to reach 10k MOI, AND market it.
    2. I'm guessing every company's 2023 "MAX" driver was insanely close to 10k already. Funny how we don't see any comparison to the old driver's MOI. Could it be the jump is so incomprehensibly small it sound ridiculous and would hurt new sales?

  7. Got a Ping 430 late last year so I know what Guy is talking about but when I compared Rick's numbers the 10K was only 2 yards straighter but shorter, I'm happy!

  8. If you bought a 430 Max a year ago then you can't be pissed at Ping improving it. The 430Max doesn't become obsolete, I bet most golfers couldn't even tell the difference. It's just FOMO. Wait until the 440 Max 10K or whatever it is called comes out.

  9. One of my golf buddy's still plays a Taylormade R540 from like 20 years ago. He's one of the longest hitters I play with. I asked why he doesn't upgrade his driver, or any of his clubs as he's still playing Burner Irons with Bubble shafts from the 90s. He said it would cost over $2000 for new clubs and he said, realistically I would be 2-3 shots better at best after about a year of getting used to them. I agreed with him and started questioning my own purchases.

  10. If its acceptable for TM, Callaway & Cobra to release new driver line ups every single year, its perfectly acceptable for other brands to add to the current line up mid cycle. I’m also almost certain that whoever has bought a G430 Max isn’t being short changed as if they’ve been fitted correctly, their driver will work well for them still. Ping don’t just release new clubs for the sake of it, they add clubs to their line up if they feel there’s a gap in their options for the both tour and amateur golfers

  11. Who wants to tell him that Ping has another new driver coming out in the future that is longer and even more forgiving than this one…

  12. Do you know why I liked this clip? Because it was 3 minutes long and you got straight to the point.

  13. Great video, but as a professional musician your mic cables being pulled tight through the holes in the desk gives me anxiety. Probably not as tight as it looks. Be great to see that cable clipped to the bottom of the mic stand and have the cable on the table from the mic stand to the hole. 😉

  14. Only reason (I think) Ping brought that new version of the Max out, wasn't because it was 10k, cause all the Max drivers have been 10K since the G400, but it was because people felt let down by the G430 Max not having the carbon top, and it sounded the same as all the other Max drivers, and that drove Max users mental. All Ping users of Max drivers wanted was it to sound better. When I bought the G430 Max, it didn't sound any different to the G410 it replaced. Sold it within 3 weeks of owning it, because it sounds completely different on a golf course than at a range or indoor bay.

  15. I played PING CLUBS for my last 20 years of golf that I was lucky enough to be able to play… but what made a better Ping golfer was having the right SHAFTS and GRIPS on my club's… Now it was easier for me to concentrate on learning shots to use and the course your playing itself…

  16. I never buy the brand new "Novelty drivers". I Have a Taylor made M6 that works perfect. I did not buy Stealth1 or 2 because I has doubts regarding the Carbon Face. However, now that they have "perfected" the tech,, I would invest in a Qi10, or maybe i will be smart and try a cheap second hand Stealth2.

  17. If a 24 handicap golfer or any amateur is daft enough to spend £599 on a driver.. then let them.. don't blame ping which is a commercial company for stupid golfers with more money than sense!!!

  18. This is no different than buying anything. You buy a new car the the new models are released a few months later and you wished you waited.

  19. Golf brands just take advantage of amateur golfers by charging a ridiculous price for golf equipment. We’re not professionals. It’s about time brands started to give back

  20. Golf equipment is all marketing, people need to stop playing into it. Wait a couple years and buy it then or go with any various direct to consumer brands.
