Today it’s the very special day it’s the beginning of the weekend which means semi-final Saturday here and this ultimately is what it’s all about the gorgeous HSBC bwf wour finals trophy today brought out by another National Junior shutler doubles player Aaron Tai who’s actually partnered up with K Kai Zin currently

Ranked about 250th in the world but also picked up a third place finish at the bwf world junior Championship last Year we’re going to be expecting to see a lot more results from him and his partner over over the coming years of course and maybe they will even perform at this wonderful Arena here looking at the order of play for court one on semi-final Saturday kicking off the uh

First session and it is Terry he and Jessica tan against Kim wanho and J N both of them responsible for great results in the quarterfinals who will win on the day today after that it’s an absolute epic the classic Tai suing taking on chenu in the first of the women’s single

Semi-finals mix doubles after that Jang and we have had a great run this week they’re up against UT wanabi and Arisa higashino the number two seeds beana leis SOI in the women’s doubles after that they were very solid and very competent yesterday will they be able to do the same against Jang and

Xen from China then it’s the other women’s single semi-final and it’s another epic encounter an young will number one against jangan who of course alsted akan amaguchi the defending Champion uh yesterday women’s doubles after that was another giant killing outing by Luen Shu and taning Chen andja their victims they’re taking on iwanaga

And nakanishi in the women’s doubles Lyn chin he also had a great quarterfinal he’s up against Anders antonson who’s in very very good form right now srick and chirag the uh Indian number two pair have set up their year Well by starting this first uh super 1000 event by

Getting to the semis there up against the world champions Kang minuk and siung J and then Victor axon the last remaining defending Champion here in Malaysia this week up against shiu Chi will number seven in the men’s singles and the men’s doubles to round it off lang and Wang from China the number

One’s taking on hoki and kobashi the number sevens so plenty of great action coming your way and looking at the mixed doubles STW there’s confirmation of those big big matches from Kim Juan Ho and Jong Na and Terry he and Jessica Tan in the quarterfinals taking out Jen and

Wang and sub and of course victims on the other side of the draw so here they come into the arena it’s my great pleasure of course to have our resident Bonton expert Ste pedon here with me for the semi-final Ste what do you think about the semi-final matchups uh fantastic uh lineups we’ve

Got waiting for us today and um also some um new kits on the Block so to speak in terms of um semi-finals at the super th000 level so it’s going to be really um interesting I think and um full speed forward here in the AR Arena that’s right Landmark uh historical

Events happening in this today because of course four uh defending Champions oued uh at the quarterfinal n AK yaguchi alfin Nardo men’s doubles chennin Johan women’s doubles and Jen and hang which we watched of course yesterday in mixed doubles looking at the head-to-head here it’s a one- nothing lead for Kim and

Jong that was at the career open back in 2022 didn’t play each other last year and that Al as you can see went to three games Red is the call you on the toss what do you choose this receive who will receive who will s Jessica to end chaturanga fish our umpire getting

Things set up in terms of the protocol of binton but uh for Terry and Je Jessica uh we were talking about these landmark things that have um Landmark well events I said they were the first Singaporean mix doubles team to pick up gold at the Commonwealth Games they are

Now as you pointed out yesterday the first Singaporean mix doubles team to make a super 1000 semi-final and they’ve also got their eyes on being the first Singapore and mixed doubles uh Team to hopefully try and fight for a medal at the Olympics this year played amazing this tournament

Right now they’re just in sight olypic qualification this result here will definitely help yeah it’s a good way to start the year that’s for sure we’ve been getting consistently better and here’s J Nan of course we saw them putting in a very solid performance and I think really with both of these

Pairs I said they both had great quarterfinal matches for Jong and Kim as we look at their results tan and Li in 38 minutes yamashi and Sho in 60 minutes that was the big one Jen and hang in 58 minutes they set out their store yesterday they had a plan and they stuck

To it and it worked for them yeah definitely I’ve said it before that when uh when they’re healthy the two Koreans they’re tough cookie for jungu way andang Chong they’ve got the game to rattled them so Terry he here 28 years old born in panang another Singapore in sh has started very early

On from Malaysia and another couple on court marry Jessica Tan in 2021 if I believe in fact in 2023 one of their big um highlights was the Irish open and there of course they faced another couple who also happened to be in the commentary box this week Greg and

Yesterday that this super 1000 semi-final appearance for them is their best achievement that includes winning uh a title of course in 2022 can see from from the the pairs that they defeated it’s all very very capable uh players the former W champions from Thailand um had a magnificent tournament here in

T looking at our umpire and service chge for this one as said chaturanga vishan umpire Muhammad Eid Salman in the service judge chair a lot of fans already here for this first match probably not as much as would have been of course if uh there had still been some Malaysian interest

Low that’s a beautiful M Terry heat first the flat push pinning J to the back cord and then very very nice guided shot course the net well they’re pulling out all the stops right from the start solid three lead over 1 three one of those points winner one of

Those points some good hustling and of course one of those points uh lost to the back court drift yeah that’s that’s definitely a factor it has been all week um drift coming from the Koreans TOS the Singapore parir and that means that um the Koreans have be careful pushing

Flat lifting towards the backline of of the Singapore pair here in the first game and that makes it um a bit easier uh for singaporeans the singaporeans as long as they are in the um control of the rallies obviously if the Koreans are attacking they get a little bit more

Tan did well the semi final there and then it took like 7 months or so where the results were mediocre before they sort of found their way and I feel they’re really really solid in their basic game and well that’s what’s always about fundamentals building on top of them

Yeah and knowing what you’re going what do you have to do in the um uh different situations that occur during a match and and become better and better reading the game the same way um decision making anticipation finding out response of course yeah yeah so they’ve taken a two point lead

Now’ definitely done enough to force as you can see Terry and Jessica into a defensive pattern now Terry’s trying to push it and does well over eight n just watching that all the way and I think he was 100% sure but I guess who is into that corner that’s been the really drifty

Situations to solve is what happens when Kim um plays from the front Court that’s a new a new shot that Terry he’s just picked up on I don’t think that’s legal at all I do believe you have to be attached to your racket when it hits good counter

That’s why the Singapore pair is so dangerous when Terry heat gets a chance to Counterattack really really good racket skills from the mid Court area has he 112 that was a great return by in one steep falling backwards as well the Deep Ser that almost out Fox him but he started moving

Extremely you need that in every sport you need workmanlike journeyman players that come in and and put down that Foundation block which you can work off absolutely agree yeah he and T certainly trying to bite back here I think they were up 52 um in the Singapore and so 147 from that point

Give the opponents counterattacking opportunities amazing well now there’s just one point in IT service with Jessica I mean I I don’t know how he thought of that shot in his head I think he changed his mind a couple of times but look at just the end result the end

Result get away from me that’s it and look at that I mean look at the accuracy of it that was good pressuring hustling play by jessan looked like the Koreans were just about to settle into a devastating attack she just managed to confuse him keep

And took a piece of John n’s ear by the looks of it that’s the fault obviously of swan shot him on her with all the time in the world that trying to challenge him on the timing and uh very well done thumbs up from coach powers and a very nice comeback here yes

By he and 10 what an important point nine all all comebacks start from one point maybe that’s the point it’s going to need of course more concerted effort right now before the interval but they’ll feel great for themselves here in town if they go in 11 n

Shots that’s good from Jong and it sets up Kim wano who who goes big he just loves it when he gets serviced like that 15 11 they got the attacking Advantage from J L yeah and and Terry he was a little bit uh off balance and he thought he could
