This is this is what it is it’s forgiveness you know it’s really maxing out sort of the result from you know the Miss there’s not too many misses yet is there no but either driver to be fair whether it’s Max or 10K it’s very consistent isn’t it all

Right guys welcome back to the channel driver release day Mikey boy ping 10K g430 extension of the line not a brand new driver in its all right but uh an extension to an already successful line it is uh cool to see there’s lots of carbon coming from the Ping family

Now all the way on the bottom um this is this has been I guess highly anticipated everyone heard about this 10K driver and like who’s it going to be is it going to be tailor mate is it going to be uh ping we got it right here and there’s a couple

Other brands that are claiming you know this you know 10,000 Moi but um going back to the kind of g400 times 400 Ma you know that was I mean it was great for us back in the day fitting with it um super highi kind of feels like

They’ve gone back in time with modern technology that’s in the good old g430 yeah it’s it’s very interesting and I’ll be curious to sort of sit back and see how the the marketing of it is absorbed by the consumer and what the consumer thinks that they’re getting when they

Read and hear about it because to me you know Breaking the Barrier of 10K feels like the 4 minute mile yeah I think it’s marketed like the 4minute mile it’s been done before yeah it’s been done several times before ping have done it themselves before so this is not

Necessarily a new thing but it’s it’s something they’ve came back to like we said g400 max was the last time ping done it but it’s now layered in with other technologies that there was they’ve been very successful with from g430 line um Spin sistency and all these

Things and I do think spin sistency Maybe is the catalst to bringing this back because they’ve done such an amazing job of having this variable role on the face that a mish hit now doesn’t Spike through the roof and spin yeah so you can kind of manage those spin

Windows and give you um you know a real forgiven package of extremely forgiven package um trying to decide where to say this now or save it but may as well say it now to me uh maxing out the mo Moi um over 10,000 you know cubic cm of forgiveness vertically and or

5,000 over 5,000 vertically and laterally to me and and and having to do that without taking away any or with taking away fitting sort of elements throughout g430 here movable weight yeah I’m not sure it’s worth the tradeoff of doing it h I don’t think pushing thei up

Taking a if you were to do it while keeping all of that stuff I’m in buying it yeah I agree taking it away and doing it I don’t know if I’m buying what you’re selling yeah I mean for again back in the day g400 obviously drivers were still you know adjustable just as

Much as they are today um but I can see where you’re going with that I think there’s some things in the max that I wouldn’t want to sacrifice or get rid of for that high MRI I mean that Max driver for us is yeah you could H it all over

The face and and get away with it so interesting to see the tradeoff one of the things as well with that head is um to make it over 10,000 sort of uh Moi it needs a 28 gram weight in the back yeah right in the back and there’s only one uh weight and

It’s movable in terms of it can come out you can put a 25 22 19 but you decrease the Moi correct right so you do change the properties of the head and you take away a little bit of of what it is um I think it might be a fraction

Onedimensional I agree from that perspective I agree and moving the way all the way to the rear we sort of know that sort of when we get that sort of effect that tipping effect especially when you’re in Dynamic motion and the shaft wants to sort of or the head wants

To lead the shaft anyway and we add start adding Dynamic Loft we start adding lower strikes lead us to things like loss of balls being high spin that’s what I guess where spin sisten is going to come into but it’s a roundabout way of saying I’m not sure how necessary

This was to do that to to pour resources and and put you know their efforts into this for you know a year or however long left this you know g430 line will stand I’m not sure yeah yeah no that’s that’s a good point I like I said I think

You’re this is almost call this like a concept driver they’ve released it to the masses they’re going to see how it does they’re going to gather information from that and who knows maybe this time next year there’s a Jeep 400 or G500 whatever the heck you want to call it um

And they’ve learned a lot from that they can kind of put the two and two together if you put two and two together and you had the high Moi out of this driver this would be a tough one to beat yeah I could almost if you put carbon fly wrap on g430

Max had you know some ability to sort of shift the weight and and like I would rather take more of that in into this model but obviously they’re not going to do that only a year old I just that’s where I’m like was that ever necessary

Let’s hit it and find out let’s let’s see what the numbers say start with the max yeah okay FR g430 Max 9° yep standard setting throughout this test obviously we’ll you know we’re going to compare it to the 10K but we should probably see a few heel strikes and toe

Strikes I’m going to show you some toe ones yeah I know know I’m going to give you that yeah well I’m sure we’ll see some so we’ll see thin ones we’ll see tall ones I guarantee that we’re not we’re not I’m obviously well I want you

To hit it in the center or you know hit it perfect but I I want to see how that 10K yeah can fix those hits okay Michael I’ll miss set it just for you thank you not cuz I have a dysfunctional go swing good swing that one felt

Will be quite nice just don’t know the mix of people that have high speed that this will be good for m I know I’m kind of I feel like I’m airing on the side of negativity too much right now who’s it should be talking about who’s going to

Be good for not who’s it going to be bad for but I kind of feel like not particularly slow speed CU they don’t hit it that far offline anyway not particularly high speed cuz my guess is the volatility on launch conditions I think somewhere in the middle if you’re

Like 100 105 and a little bit of ratic could could be really good I feel like I had that one quite nice Mikey where that strike a low toe kind of 27 little spinny so this is the same Loft this is a good test cuz we’re talking now about

CG position right right CG being deep CG being deeper what does it do in Dynamic motion to to sort of manufactur dynamic Loft this would be quite good I think went to the Moon Moon 150 in feet in the air quite nice I don’t feel like I’m really

Hitting these that thin if I’m being honest Mikey like they feel really buttoned I’m looking on that and I just looks looks like I’ve just thinned it I really I really i’ need some Dr Shaw spray or something like that to it doesn’t feel like I’m hitting it below the CG put it

Right okay okay I don’t feel the tilt of the head feel like I’m hitting it pretty much on the CG in 146 efficiency with yeah six up on at 14 launch little spinny there not too many misses yet is there no but either driver to be fair

Whether it’s Max or 10K I was just going to say again it’s just that that lower strike spinny it just it kind of eats the distance away from the from the driver yeah didn’t feel as low but it was a bit more toy hence the shape I mean not crazy toe

But definitely on that side but focused on the height definitely lower Peak height yeah yeah lower Peak height let’s change the delivery a little bit I just think this is a high Dynamic Loft high angle attack person okay right so let’s go let’s go into slightly different sort of Swing territory

Here it’s a bit more squeezy I mean that’s probably four and a half up in it rather than six yeah yeah kind of what it felt like felt quite nice to be honest okay so go to table a second so angle of attack came down by

Call it two mhm Dynamic Loft came down by call it two spin LOF went down by four efficiency went up go to ball a second laun and spin were better ball speed went up there’s your window right that’s the kind of like a spin LOF window where you’re going to get more

Out of this driver than you will if you’re the the high angled attack bomber that’s quite interesting that fixed weight at 28 gr is that limit your output from the driver is making it faster like obviously if you get rid of the 28 and go less it’s going to get rid

Of the 10K we’ll find out in a minute cuz I’m going to hit mine yeah okay let’s let’s do that cuz we think you know like if these drivers are cat turn and and Max is more of an allround driver but this is this is what it is

It’s forgiveness you know it’s really maxing out sort of the result from you know the Miss hit this is good on the M hit for sure and it’s quite good for a squeezer yeah I trying to catch that a little higher in the head trying to kind of

Catch it like somewhere to get that spin down a little bit inter you have to feel like you do a lot more work to bring that spin down whereas you know 430 Max is just point and shoot point and shoot all day all day that Peak height with the with the 10K

Is again and like you said maybe it’s for that fine window of of speed kind of thing but Let’s do let’s try that let’s go let’s make a new window let’s go call it 105 probably not 105 but certainly looked like it maybe come out a bit flatter that’s that’s

Impressive look how straight that was for toy so good okay so a little bit little bit slower 107 107 isn’t slow relax no I know lower effort that’s all careful I know trading on the F line here but like height wise see it fall into a nice

Window there so much better yeah that 125 130 is scary because it just when that spin kicks up but now that you’re in that speed window that we’re looking for that Peak Heights I mean I take that all day long I know I know yeah I would too

It’s better yeah like you have to say look at that that delivery two and a half up in 18 it works just like a dream yeah perfect like a dream little bit short in Horsepower yeah versus the max for someone like who’s swinging like at that

Speed yeah spin jumps up yeah and just just for reference let’s hit a couple with mine just for reference because again I wouldn’t so it’s nothing against but it’s just for somebody out there watching this who’s at a different speed let’s just have a like a

Peek I want a slight ncky yeah a little low just like in that low window where I was hitting the Ping to be honest all right Mikey boy straight up 10K versus max yeah Max kind of did its thing what we’re used to I think that’s

What I thought would happen yeah I’ll be honest I really did really thought if you kind of give it the same which to the degree the difference being it’s close you know a one degree more Dynamic Loft by the the weight being far back a

Little bit more up on it or less up on it with 10K yeah there there a difference in obviously head weight um you know it’s you you in order to access the the sort of D3 swing weight that it comes at standard you do need the Ala CB

Shaft that comes with it right I don’t play that shaft it’s very soft and tip so from that standpoint like you there’s there’s Club speed look to be lost um that’s very very good on efficiency because it’s so much mass in the head right so it’s I think it’s 202 before

Sleeve um so it’s pretty heavy but if we just again back to the the ball data kind of in the same window a little bit more spin yeah but Max just wins everywhere yeah yeah 50 in the deviation 2 miles an hour quicker 10 yards longer yeah it’s what

Max does the dispersions tighter definitely I really like doing this little test yeah of like let’s bring it down a little bit to you know a speed that you know is a little little more reasonable in terms of like you know everyone can get to 107 by any means but

Lots of people can they yeah I think the other thing too is like with your speed kind of that 112 area we saw with 10K just ballooned right and you you lose you lose a bit from it whereas you slow that speed down to you know more of a I

Guess I don’t call it an average speed but more that what probably our viewers are yeah eight eight or so miles are slower than what you get that flatter flight more consistent and you can really see the 10K kind of go to work there really like that I mean at that

Speed 12 and 2500 is excellent yeah um you know codyy was saying there when we were we were going like 107 um you know he was asking what’s your what’s your equation right so 2.7 uh yards per mile hour of Club head speed if we go to Club head speed we’re

At 107 do the quick math for me Michael how that’s good 2 91 right so if you do yeah 2.7 time 107 is is um 291 we’re at 290 we’re right there bang on um but this is where it’s interesting again I go back to you know what I was saying at

The start like give me a fitted driver over something that’s just designed to you know one size fits all and I don’t want people to think that you know there’s ever such a thing as a one size fits all there’s there’s individual Merit to every single head shaft grip swing

Weight L all of it all of it counts and when you add up the marginal gains you get5 Mil ball speed you get the the flatter more penetrated launch angle you get the right spin tighter standard deviation d d look at the visual look at the dispersion on that thing yeah and

That’s and that’s you know that’s it when it’s good and I think a lot of people like I don’t say people won’t get fit to this because we will have this in the demo Matrix you get fit to a 10K I think a lot more people will get fit to

A Max m some people will look at 10K and go oh it’s just more forgiving I’m G to hit it better I’m just G to go buy one right away totally which is obviously not what we’re preaching you’re preaching to get fit you might get fit

Into a 10K yeah um but the difference between a fitted driver and just what you think is forgiving clearly is not not the best option right now I think yeah I think if if your delivery works with it to you like you said and it just you know in the

Fitting great if not if you buy it off the shelf I think you’ll be right back in in the fitting Bay not too long later a year year and a half two years and you’ll be looking for those yards back mhm totally totally I think that’s the

Way it will play out but listen it it is a phenomenally stable driver so I mean you can’t take that away from it we were hitting it in a a bunch of funky places you know especially toy low the low strike one for me was like it didn’t

Really move offline you still got away with it it was it was good and it just didn’t feel like a mishit didn’t it’s like using a big over cavity back iron the Miss hit doesn’t feel like a Miss hit every every strike feels good so um

Quick little call out for the for the faders neutral driver for me in terms of L angle very upright mhm seven uh so four more degrees toe up so we know guys that is an aid to keeping the ball starting more to the left right doesn’t

Start offline as much so if you struggle a little bit with a push fade that will help with the start line a little bit on that um yeah but like everything else what do we say fit fit go get fit good driver really really good driver I think the max will

Still be the one that’s the volume play so good that should be the volume play that’ll be that’ll be my message to our team and you know the the M the 430 is still just such an incredible incredible driver it really is yeah might need to build one up for myself you’re not

Really a bad driver B though like I think cuz again back to you use the same driver you use the we use the same model I just yeah I don’t I don’t think you know unless you’re you know you struggle with the driving like that is was amazing because

I didn’t hit it great every time true you you can access like speed and you know a little bit flatter flight and all those other things as well so yeah I’m not sure you’re the ideal candidate I’d say that needs like tons of help around the face but you may be that’s more

Importantly we’re talking to you guys rather than us too um so if if this describes you guys if any of this describes you then we want you guys to be paying attention to to these drivers going the bay and and obviously see if you can find yourself a few more

Fairways it is Meaningful penalty shots got to keep them down but there is a balance right speed launch spin there’s a balance to all of that so um let us know let us know your thoughts uh if you’re if you’re interested in this if forgiveness if moment of an AA the

  1. Peter finchs review is a great place to see a man with massive speed hit this, he adores it over the new TM and doesnt ove spin it at all. hit it at 8 degrees though.

  2. Maybe ironically, but this is a great sales pitch for Ian's gamer. But it is also really nice to see straight shot after straight shot with either of the Pings compared to the stubbornly offline results of some of your other tests of new drivers. I don't play a Ping, but this speaks well for their designs, especially for average golfers. I think the Ping Max 10K was supposed to be in between the Max and the LST, with the same peak height as the Max but a bit lower spin for slightly more carry than the Max. But to produce these fine differences in performance on a consistent basis, you'd have to be a robot machine. Based on your results, can't see the Max 10K taking any sales away from the Max.

  3. I want to get a fitting, but I use Jumbomax grips, which drastically affect grip style and swing weight. Do you fellas have solutions for that? Is it possible to get an adequate fitting when I need specialty grips?

  4. I had a G400 driver when they were out. 445 cc or so head. Limited shaft sleeve adjustment and a "changeable" weight in a fixed position. Wish I had never gotten rid of it.

  7. Kind of a hatchet job on the marketing of this club—I know that’s extreme but we know you all are wanting us to get fit for this and not buy it off the rack. That sentence was missing in here, or maybe just stated once? Looking forward to Ian getting dialed in and see how a different combo stacks up? Do love the honesty—you all don’t simply say everything is great and that is super appreciated. Keep it up! Good video.

  8. Obviously, the Max "out of the box" in standard spec is a better fit for Ian than the 10k is. By why not try to optimize them a bit? Loft the 10k down and it seems like a lot of the negatives (which weren't all that bad) would have been resolved. Also, when down to a swing speed that was closer to the center of the bell curve for golfers (but still fast), the performance was strong with no adjustments. Why not hit the regular Max at the same speed to get a comparison? Just seemed like the 10k isn't Ian's cup of tea, so the narrative stayed almost entirely negative.

  9. Why didn’t you just lower the loft like Peter Finch did so that you can get the most out of the forgiveness while still increasing ball speed and lowering spin. Rookies lol. You guys do fittings for a living, so fit it to your speed. And then see if it can compete or outperform the max….

  10. Which ping would be best for 105 club head speed, level angle of attack (working on it) and pretty solid ball striker ( zero handicap). LST? Max? 10k? Currently going back and forth between rogue st max and max ls, and tsi3 all with ad-di 6s. My main problem is spin. I tend to get too much spin loft with my angle of attack and struggle to get spin below 2500 sometimes. My last ping driver was the G400 LST and thought it was great, but it still spun up a little too much for me, 2500-2800, but it was also a 10* head, I normally play 9*.

  13. They seemed to be super negative out of the gate, and almost every other reviewer has found it to be a better club than these did. It probably doesn't support their fitting mantra because it isn't as adjustable as the Max.

  14. The touble is, companies have no incentive to create a 'perfect' driver. Sure, tech is constantly improving and there will be incremental gains, but they need to curtail improvements in order to have a new product line to release every year. Ideally for the consumer each company would release a new driver every 3-5 years, but that wouldn't be a sustainable buisness model.

  15. What is the swingweight of the 10k in a non counterbalanced shaft? I’m seeing a lot of videos tested with Ventus velocore shafts but I have to imagine the swingweight is high given what sounds to be like a heavy head in the 10k?

Completely understand the apprehension to the 10k's from the fitters' perspective, but as someone who's game is hampered by driving and driving alone these clubs seem like they are going to be quiet the blessing. You hit every one of those on a rope and so have many testing. Great video as usual!

  17. how does the new driver compare when you have a slower swing speed? You did not make it very clear comparing it to your driver which was not a good comparison.

  18. Can you guys build a 10k max or a QI10k for someone with speed? I'm around 125 chs and really want to find a way to build a forgiving setup instead of always needing to go with the LS models. For example, could you use a 7 degree head on the 10k max and create total figures similar to the LS models?

  19. Supporting my opinion that golf equipment tests and reviews are 80% subjective, Golf Monthly magazine just published the Ping 10K review. Their testers achieved a 20 yard distance gain over the G430 Max. They also report improved forgiveness and shot consistency. The best way for a golfer to evaluate if a club will help improve shot making is to visit a shop / fitter and swing the thing.

  21. For a guy that is 5'10" tall. the 10000g/cm2 MOI might be accurate. For a guy my height, 6'3" tall, the axis of spin is higher by as much as 4 to5 inches, which seems to reduce the resulting MOI for a shaft length the same as the shorter guy. All things being equal, the length of the swinging element, which has to include the arm length with a swing axis at the neck of the golfer, longer will reduce MOI significantly.
    What effect that reduction in MOI would have on the golf shot may or may not be significant.
    It is certain that one manufacturer recognizes the effect of length, and compensates by having the shaft fit deeper into the max head, which makes their max club shorter than their standard and LS models with the same length shaft.

  22. I usually love your reviews, however found this one a little strange! I thought Ian was hitting the ball straighter than usual, and this despite hitting consistently low and towards toe, was actually quite impressive performance from the driver. For a Forgivess driver it would have been helpful to see performance from some high strikes, heel strikes and a few centre strikes. I guess it gets quite difficult to do a review when the Driver doesn’t suit the tester.

  23. I would disregard this review. Club Champion has had beef with ping for a long time and Ian has obviously gotten the order to follow this path. Dude slaughtered the driver before he even hit it.

  24. Ian living on the low leading edge of the driver is not an appropriate demonstration. There are a dozen Tour guys and gals who have moved into this head. We all have off-days, Hold off on publishing a "review" until you're on. 20 minutes of hitting the leading edge of a new club is as helpful as trying to hit the ball with the grip end.

  25. Have to say I’ve enjoyed your other reviews but there was something really odd about this one, it came across that you’d made your minds up and were quite negative about it before you even started. Might just be me but it’s the way it came across with this one.
