Hey guys Eric Goro here with performance Golf and in today’s video I’m even more excited than normal because this drill and concept and feel we’re going to show you has been personally helping me with my own swing for a long time being able to keep the lead arm connected to the

Torso and using this simple drill to do so is a game changer if you’re looking for your golf swing to be more consistent day today which we all are to my right the Hall of Famer Mr Rick Smith thank you for being out here as normal

Appreciate you this is good so this is a a video that I saw Rick do uh in his perfect IMPACT program that I wanted to talk about today because I’ve seen its direct impact on my own game and I also know it’s going to help a lot of you so

Uh Rick lead arm connected to the Torso and the glove drill can you show us how the drill works and talk us through the benefits of it again feel is really important especially real feel feel that is actually accurate cuz I think most people are hitting balls with fields

That aren’t real anyway so this is real so you take this glove you stick it underneath the armpit and you just put a little pressure in it as you set up you even feel a little pressure with the upper arm here okay right off the bat

Right off the bat okay so then you want to maintain that pressure as you go back and come down so in other words if you do this you can see it’s just it’s going to fall out if you separate off the ball falls out right away okay so the first

Move is here and then as I get to the top even though I have good width here a lot of you that just lift your arms up and you go this way there’s no sweat underneath there I mean this thing just Falls right out so the bottom line is if

You do this so the first move set up first second feels great feels great now here’s the mistake most people make their arms move way outside you want to add pressure as your arms feel like they’re moving down okay and then it impact you feel like it’s right here and

Then it’s extending and rotating it’s still here if it ever falls out let it fall out up there all at the top so that’s when it can fall out when your arms go up but don’t let it fall out anywhere else so it it should stay underneath there all the way through

Impact couple feet past impact if you’re a slicer this is huge if you’re a player that hooks too much and you do this post impact yeah it’s good for you too right so the key is it’s really good for all types of players and I love the

Versatility of it I do too let me let me pop in there let me grab that try to feel that so I’m putting this in at my setup position this is like I’m not putting like down here by my elbow this is like going up pretty it’s right in

The armpit and then you feel that pressure I’m going a little sweat underneath there so right off the bat okay so at the setup position glove is under so I’m feeling like I’m feeling maybe like the just to put some details on it maybe the inner part of my bicep

Against my pet back right at the setup position and so we’re saying okay I’ve got a little bit of that to start I’m like connected right and now I’m trying to keep that connection you want to feel pressure you want to feel that pressure and that pressure is there and then as

You go to the top it’s there now add pressure as you start down so the arms work down yeah okay you feel that not yeah go out it’s falling down right so okay it’s great for that feeling Sergio Garcia used to call it he re

Engaged that part of the arm to his core so he’s pretty wide yeah but what he would do is get wide and then really reconnect that that left arm upper left arm back to his trunk he got he rot trunk he did okay down here he’s done

All right has he yeah we would all take the Sergio move yeah so so with that specifically we’re saying okay so the more the lead arm then increases that pressure the more I’m going to be able get the club shaft Club head from inside yes if that if I lost that pressure

There’s my over the top right steep core contact Etc and let’s go to impact post impact y Sensations because now as you come down through impact your body’s rotating look at how stable the face is yeah look at the second wi you’re into and the head the head cover I use head

Covers gloves different things under this armpit you’re still really really in a good spot I still feel a little bit of pressure there obviously my body’s turned and forward I’m not like you see in this you go to the PGA Tour like I been out there for I can’t how many

Years everybody’s doing the drill they stick it under there and they’re hitting balls on the Range they’re working on the radius of a swing they’re working on the right path and art and they’re just doing it with that feel I love that let me hit a couple little and you can hit

Balls this way too you know so Co and if it falls out it falls out up here up in front like at the end at the end okay one of the big things for me Rick keeping this in personally cuz I I I don’t I mean I’m not shy about going

Like this right I’ll get the hands out El and I get that back okay but I know most people lose it there they’re making up for it the whole absolutely yeah okay start the pressure at setup keep it the the whole way here absolutely and feel

That as you work back and it’s going to help you to get your trunk moving the right way as well that’s what I like about it okay so because my lead arm is pressed against my torso I have to use my body it’s asking for assistance right

Okay let’s go ahead and feel that’s good okay I’m sort of reverse engineering that it is and it’s getting the pivot to help this to happen perfect gorgeous swing that stayed in but it was a nice three4 look in your finish if you were to go all the

Way through it would probably fall out felt nice what a good feel yeah that felt really good you know what you know what I like about it Eric is that anytime I have a drill that I know is working it’s it’s fixing like eight things it’s not just fixing one thing

This is fixing a lot of things and to your point like about having feels and not being super mechanical I feel as though by focusing on one thing keep the pressure of the lead arm against the Torso I think like you said a lot of those things I’m getting for frit not

Thinking mechanical thoughts okay I’ll do one more like that that one feel throughout man that feels that feels really good to have the arm connected to the Torso and feel like the Torso sort of has to do the work that’s perfect a lot perfect swing and you know it’s great it’s looking

Good from here to here in post impact is that what you want and just a quick one on this too Rick cuz you know for me and this is a little bit of how it helped my game obviously this has really helped me keep the club on playing early it’s

Helped me keep the club from inside and it feels like it’s getting my body moving through impact those are the benefits that I’m I’m feeling um but also you mentioned before off camera like if you’re a chicken wing person right learning how to keep this in a

Little bit past impact get the Torso turned have some arm rotation that’s right that can help I you know what I like that so much let me do one more right sure let me just hit one more a ton of balls like that I don’t know if I look like him but

I feel like Tommy Fleet that’s what that’s a good feel that guy can hit some good irons too believe me so Eric Gorno Tommy flew would Rick Smith um solid ball striking when I go golf the most frustrating thing to me in the world is a lack of consistency dayto day me going

To play and not hitting the ball solid nothing else I want to hit the ball solid right having the lead arm connected using the Torso correctly is a huge way to help that if you like this video this style of video Rick did a perfect IMPACT program with 50 videos

  1. It is amazing how most of the training reminds me of Jimmy Ballard. For instance, the Y is Ballard's Triangle, the glove under the arm is Ballard's connection. Just about every one of your instructors incorporate something from Ballard.

  2. Make sure glove velcro is stuck to your sweater and you wil always do it right, lol. Seriously, good drill.
