Be Russell Henley um because he’s a guy that loves par 70s short ones but uh I mean o probably deserves to be the favorite um just with the way he’s playing I know he didn’t play great last week but uh man the guy is going to win
A lot and even though it’s not the best course fit for you know his driver and his ability to gain Strokes out the te um yeah I think he deserves to be the favorite still yeah I kind of thought so too I had one person on social media who
After I posted those odds when oar was indeed a top of the board by himself initially said I don’t think it should be him and I said well then where do you go I said you know yeah Henley’s won here before Henley’s no offense to Russell he’s a fantastic Talent he’s
Half the player that oar is right now and uh is going to be continue uh continuing into the future uh Fitz has never played this golf course I think it should suit him well he won of course at Harbortown last year you’ve got TL Hatton who played really well for a few rounds
Last week and Hatton is indeed at 18 to1 and there’s Henley at 20 to1 alongside Brian Haron at the same number and Chris Kirk who’s had some success here over the years at 25 one rounding out the top of the board as always we’ve got $100 to
Spend in our portfolio we’re going to start with our outrights Derek give me your first one on the board this week yeah I really love the mid-range this week I’m gonna go 15 of my 100 on bang Hanan guy that uh feels like the books
Know that a lot of people want to bet him feels like the books know the win’s coming um I thought his number would be bigger um I got it at 40 it’s already come crashing down on a lot of the books uh got it at 35 Plus 3500 right here but
Yeah T4 here um or T4 last week um he’s been playing well if you look at his recent form he’s got three top six finishes um in his last six starts he’s a good ball Striker and all of a sudden he’s learned how to putt you
Know he had to go back to the corn fairy tour for a while earned his card he’s been playing well I think that putting that uh you know confidence in the in the flastic is going to do him some dividends and hopefully he can get a win
And uh I’m out for it to come this week yeah I don’t know if he’s learned how a putt or if that long putter Allah Lucas Glover AE batia has gone to the long putter I don’t know if that’s uh been a little bit of a crutch almost literally
For uh Ben on but yeah playing some good golf last week coming off that suspension uh probably not uh you know I don’t know if he necessarily deserved a suspension going back to his native Korea and uh took something over the counter and got suspended because there
Was something in it but he he’s back and I think he’s playing with uh a little Vindication now so I like that play I like that range as well I gave you Corey Connor on this show last week guys and I I liked him it’s not that I wasn’t into
It it’s not that I didn’t think that Cory Connors could play well in the first start of the year but I was always looking ahead to this week a little bit I was almost kind of uh checking myself for you know just in case Cory Connors
Goes super low at caloo I want to have him last week so you know I don’t lose out on getting that good number for this week uh I got at 30 to1 when the markets opened he has like on gotten a little shorter as the week has
Progressed but this guy has four top 12 finishes in his last four starts at Wy this is a ball Striker Golf Course Cory Connors is the quintessential ball striker in the world right now I mean this is a guy who T to Green is as good as anybody there’s a massive discrepancy
Between his ta to Green numbers and his putting numbers it’s just going to be like that when you take Cory Connors you know know what you’re getting and you’re hoping for a spike week on the greens he’s shown that he can put these greens pretty well in the past they’re slower
Bermuda greens if he can do it this week I can see Cory Connors going for a third career PGA Tour Victory all right your second play on the board Derek I like the Conor’s pick I was gonna say he puts well two places here and Valero and he
Won the Valero twice so I like that pick quite a bit for my second bet I’m going to go Andrew putam at plus 5,000 putting $15 on him as well one of those guys that I really like on the shorter courses his strengths or accuracy off
The tea very good with his irons and then you know he’s an elite putter um he’s got a couple top five finishes at this event and yeah he’s coming off of uh you know he didn’t have a great finish if you look U last week’s Sentry
I think he was like t40 but he was 16 under on the weekend so if he just could have gotten off to a better start he would have been much higher on the leaderboard probably would have had much worse odds this week so I like the
Course fit like the course history and I really like that number at plus 5,000 I will point out that the first three guys we’ve mentioned for outrights all played last week There’s a an ongoing Trend over the years the guys who play the Sentry often Faire better
At the Sony now there’s a few reasons for it first of all I kind of knock the cobwebs off a little bit get some golf in you kind of get the the whole Beach Vibe out of the way and you’re you’re back to business a little bit get the
Competitive juices flowing yeah okay I will say there’s better players who qualify for the the and so those better players are usually the guys that you’ll want to be betting on at the Sony as well last year it didn’t happen last year sort of reversed the trend not a
Single player who made the trip from one Island to the other Maui de Wahu finished in the top 10 last week last year I think that’s going to reverse I see a bunch of these guys who are going to be up there so I think there is some
Uh some reason to uh go with that Trend once again even though it didn’t work last year now my second play I I I will tell you this much I’m going to mention JT Poston later on JT Poston is guy that I really like this week he’s making the
Trip but I wanted to give you a bigger number this week early in the year I like going number hunting I like going price shopping and so I’m trying to find a guy with a number that just looks mispriced I know it wasn’t a great campaign for Billy H horel in 2023 but
Playing on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour as he does towards the end of every year he finished the top 20 in five of his last seven starts at 80 to1 that just looks a price that’s uh probably 20 or 30 points too high right
Now and so Billy horal is a guy that I want to get in the outright Marketplace probably not going to get him anywhere else you know I don’t necessarily need to buy him for a top 10 top 20 this week but the numberers too big for an
Outright on a guy that we know can win he’s won a handful of times on the PGA tour and so uh not a great success rate here he was tied for seventh a few years ago that’s his best finish at wly but I I’m Price shopping at this point and his
Price really sticks out one other number I’ll give you just a little bonus play here also at 80 to1 maybe 90 to1 is amelan gillo who did play last week I think that’s a big number for him a guy that won at Colonial if you win it
Colonial you can win at wly another uh course correlation there that we’ve got so talk about this golf course uh plays just over 7,000 yards as Derek mentioned a par 70 Bermuda greens and look this is the quintessential ball Strikers Golf Course we’ve got a bunch of these These are the
Kind of venues that a lot of people say I I I wish they played more of these I wish they played more Wy and harbor towns and Colonials and River Highlands and golf courses where you don’t just have to go up there and and mash your
Ball 350 off the T in fact at some point you’re not even going to be able to hit driver off the te I think some of the big hitters your your oars and guys like that this week might not hit driver more than three or four times in any given
Round And So It neutralized a lot of the big hitters place an emphasis on iron and wedge play and that’s why we’ll see some of those really good ball Strikers up there this week last three winners SEIU Kim hii Matsuyama Kevin n they all fit nicely into that category all right
Uh we’re going to buy and we’re going to sell in the bet 365 player Market bets this week give me a buy first Eric I’m going to buy Brandon is going to be my biggest bet of the week for 42nd or better one of the more consistent
Golfers on the PJ tour makes a lot of cuts and that’s because he does two things very well he hits Fairways and he makes putts and then if you look at his numbers from last year like over the last six or seven months he really found something with his irons um especially
With the wedges so he’s gaining Strokes on approach now to go along with the accuracy and the putting he’s finished t-41 or better than five straight starts on the PJ tour and uh he plays this event every year so he’s very familiar with the cores with the to lay out I
Think that one um was the favorite one that stuck out to me Al sorry on the bag I don’t know what a good caddy can do for a player uh uh based on the numbers but even if it’s a half stroke around that could mean brand and Todd going
From somewhere in the mid teens to somewhere in a title contention this week so Tor is one of the best out there you and I Derek have already identified players who played last week who are in that sort of 20 to 40 to1 range for outright plays it’s a nice sweet spot
This week another guy who’s right there is a guy that I I talked to him on the radio last week after he won the Rookie of the Year award from last season I’m telling you Eric Cole is ready to pop he’s a 35y old playing his second PGA
Tour season and every time I talk to him look he’s nice enough he’s Pleasant he’s thoughtful but I feel like I’m taking time away from him where he could be beating balls on the Range loves the game of golf loves playing in the PGA Tour last year he took a week off and
Went and played another tournament tournament that’s how much he likes playing golf at some point he’s going to win something it wouldn’t surprise me to see him win on a track like this he’s already got like I said Rookie of the Year already on his mantle going back
Home so 37th or better this week I’ll throw 10% of the portfolio he was 14th last week a lot harder to find somebody to sell who are you gonna sell this week yeah I love the C pick and I love that his mom won the Rookie of the Year award
On the LPGA Tour what 50 years ago um she kind of went viral uh too on Twitter there for a little bit but uh yeah so for my sell of the week again this is my least favorite segment um the last time I put Luke list on my Cale he ended up
Winning so uh be careful um I wouldn’t place this bet um unless you feel good about it I’m going LC less 57th or Worse only putting five of my $100 on that bet I just like him more on difficult courses you know putting’s never been his uh strength he was a little bit
Better in the swing season with the putter but he has missed five and six cuts at this event in his career so I’m just kind of playing the course history angle and uh yeah hoping he goes 57th or Worse yeah it’s funny you and I are thinking the exact same terms because
You’re looking at a guy who uh you’re going to fade this week who plays long Tough Golf Course as well luk list won at Tory Pines a couple years ago in a playoff he beat will Alat Tois will alot torus is my cell this week 44th or Worse
Not only do I not think he’s a great course fit here but this is essentially a rehab start for Wills salur he’s he’s still banged up a little bit uh he played a month ago his first event in what nine months and finished in dead last at the Hero World Challenge so
Still think zotor probably has some uh some coming back to do and I have no doubt that by the time the Masters rolls around in April maybe even a lot sooner than that uh that we’ll be playing him but for right now he is a fade for me
And so he’s uh in a week where there aren’t a whole lot of cells near at the top of the board he is a cell for me at 44th or Worse all right let’s get into uh some props this week and hey you you told me liked my play uh that I was
Buying there so uh I guess you’re gonna prove it here aren’t you yeah I’m going Eric Cole to finish in the top 10 plus 360 putting 15 bucks on it um like all he does make birdies cash checks win Rookie of the Year Awards I mean this
Guy’s an awesome story and a lot of fun to watch and one of the better iron players on tour one of the better uh birdie makers on tour and finished in the top 10 and four of his last six starts so hoping he can do that again this
Week about this one I didn’t look up Matt Coo’s age but what is Matty’s probably about 46 right now uh and the reason I bring it up is because first of all uh Eric Cole is 35 years old just one Rookie of the Year Matt coocher is probably 46
He’s been on tour for over two decades now he’s been around for a long time and yet uh he’s been doing good stuff for a long time doing good stuff especially esally at Wy Country Club for a long time 18 career starts eight top 10 finishes for Matt coocher and he was
Playing well at the end of 2023 where he finished the top 10 in two of his last three starts played the PNC Championship alongside his son Cameron they were up there for about a day and a half and fell off the pace a little bit his son actually tried to Monday qualify this
Week so you know he’s been gearing up for this one if nothing else his son Cameron is is keeping him uh sort of competitive keeping him motivated to go out and play well speaking of motivation he is currently 55th on the official World Golf Ranking has not played the
Last two editions of the Masters Tournament you know he’d love to get back there this year so trying to climb up that world ranking to uh get those points to get back into the Masters be top 50 in the world I think he’s going
To do it and I think it starts this week all right let’s get some matchups who you got for a matchup this week yeah kind of with your Wills out Tes fade I’m going to go sahala over Wills alores just because when I’m looking at matchups I like to look at median
Outcomes and you know Z Torres maybe he been practicing the last month or so you know uh it looked pretty rough there at the hero especially with the putter stroke he does have that long putter now but yeah wide range of out cups he could finish anywhere from top 10 to missing
The Cup by a mile and then you have talo who’s finished in the top 25 of his last seven starts been playing a ton of golf uh played good last week too so I think that one is my favorite match up it is Juiced up
A little bit at minus 162 but I still like that match up yeah I I like that as well I’m not sure by the way there’s a better Golf Course than calua for thala’s game he’s going to win there at some point in the not too distant future
You can just go Smash and then go use the rest of his skill set uh for the uh rest of the the Hole uh I’m going to go with a guy that I mentioned earlier I I didn’t get him for an outright just for the show cuz I’m limited to two but uh
If we’d gone to three if we said okay you have three outrights this week my third would have been JT Poston I’m going to pick him up here uh in a matchup bet over Cam Davis Cam Davis played last week and on a course that should suit his game pretty well really
Didn’t have it I get posted at minus5 gonna throw 40% of the portfolio on him this week and I mean I’m just going based on form there’s not a whole lot of form to look at the second week of the year but Poston was T5 last week Davis was 56
I’m just going to go with a guy who is playing better is probably a better player right now for as much as I like Cam Davis and it hurts me to say that and I think he’s going to have a good season but uh JT Poston just uh passes
The smell test in every possible way all right let’s get to our gimme prop for this week notto I know that uh you are influential in finding this one for the bet 365 guys they’ve boosted last week’s winner Chris Kirk from 25 to1 to 33 to1 outright that’s a pretty good number for
A guy that’s had some success at Sony over the years you like it you’re going to throw a couple bucks on that one yeah that’s a nice boost for sure I’m GNA take advantage of it and look for the longest time I would just stay away from
The guy that won the week before but we’ve seen guys win back toback recently we’ve seen guys win both of the Hawaii events in the past and when it comes to Chris Kirk I mean we know he’s not out there partan and celebrating and all
That he seems locked in um so yeah I like the I like the course history and I like the number sitting right here I do a few different oneand done pools but one I do with a buddy of mine and uh we go back and forth and make all our picks
You have to do everything at the beginning of the year you don’t do it week by week and this thing’s staring at me all last week see that right there Sony pick Chris Kirk we did it a week ago cool thanks Chris a week early I mean we’re just starting the trends
Already uh so hopefully we can double that up and and go back to back on Kirk so yeah I think that’s a pretty good number if you like them there right let’s get to our first round leader play uh where you going with your Thursday play doubling up on Eric Cole putting
Five bucks down he’s plus 4,000 uh Athan birdier better rate on tour last season and the nice thing about Cole is he’s finally seeing these courses for the second time around you know last year it was basically just the first time he’d seen all these courses and he was still
Crushing it now little familiarity I think he’s gonna you know play well this week he’s one of my favorite usual firstr leader plays in fact I had him on the show last week didn’t play great in the first round but I think by the last round he was shooting eight under and uh
And playing some really good golf just took him a couple days so I’m going to go with the guy that you’ve mentioned already you have an outright on Ben on at 50 to one uh he was 11th in round one scoring average last season I like the
Guys and I mentioned it earlier I like the guys who played last week but I especially like them for first round leader plays for DFS showdowns on Thursday I mean you’re essentially being handed an advantage you you got guys who have played four rounds versus guys who
Haven’t played in a month and a half uh it’s it’s pretty easy selection here we don’t often get edges like that in golf so take advantage of it while you can and play some of the guys that are coming off uh an event at caloa last
Week and like I said benan put up a couple 64s last week he can go low and he tends to do that on Thursday just in general already all right last one got our oneand done picks I mentioned one and done already uh who you going with
There so I don’t think you need to burn a big name uh this week especially since Oar Hatton Fitzpatrick none of them have played here before and this is kind of one of those courses where course history does matter thought about Corey Connor with his course history but he’s
Going to be very popular sounds like you know he might be the most popular of the week so I’m gonna go with Ben on um for all the reasons that we’ve talked about on the show I think the the form’s good I think the course fits good and I don’t
Think I’m going to you know I don’t have another course lined up for him in the future so I think I’m going to burn him early and then hope to get a good result from him yeah I think that all makes sense I’m going along those same lines
I’m not gonna feel bad by quote unquote burning JT poon this week uh I’m almost talking myself into Poston more so than Corey Connors who’s my initial favorite player on the board I just I I keep getting that sense like I said earlier that little whisper in my ear about uh
