Did Nike fumble the bag with Tiger Woods? (Part 2)

People in that conversation and for Tiger Woods to not truly have like the goto golf shoe in the history of golf with all kinds of cool different designs clearly it has been an incredibly good relationship but I still at the end of the day think they could have cashed in

More they did they left something on the table for sure they also don’t own the tww logo he owns that so that’s coming with him so I I got to think whatever brand he goes to they will be launching a Tiger Woods apparel division just call

It like the tiger brand same as the Jordan brand you know the next 30 40 years a lot of the money you know Jordan still makes like a $100 million a year or more from the Jordan brand so if tiger can go to somewhere where he has

Equity he ow it’s not just an endorsement deal it’s not just oh they pay me $20 million a year and they can use my likeness and whatever it is but he gets a percentage of sales or he gets ownership of the company that’s going to be much more lucrative for him in the

Long run I just it’s just it’s I mean Nike’s brand I think is is lesser today than it was yesterday

  1. Hey guys, Nike had about 2% market share of the global golf club market before they decided to get out of the club making business. As for clothing, who knows why Tiger wasn’t re-upped; his TW line of clothing seemed to be overpriced. My educated guess is that he will do something with another big brand ( Adidas) or perhaps do something Greyson to help set up his kid.

  2. The shoe was a no-brainer with Jordan …because he is one of the best dunkers of all time – Air Jordan. Plus, basketball is a sport played in the streets by working class kids, making it very accessible.

Doesn't make sense with Tiger and would look like a gimmick. And Golf is not a working man's sport like basketball or football.

A series of Tiger/Nike branded clubs made so much sense …but for some reason I'll never fully understand, Nike stopped making golf equipment.

Common sense tells you that Nike probably ran the numbers on it, and for whatever reason they decided it wasn't for them. You have to assume that Nike, with all their experience, know exactly what they're doing.

  3. Tiger wasn't making Nike money, no one cares about golf outside of a tiny niche audience. Nike will be just fine without him. Do you know anyone who has purchased Tiger Woods apparel in the last 10 years?
