All right here with Chandler again at the Kingdom um talking new tailor made product and uh we talked through the drivers now we want to go to the other side of the bag and talk irons and into the hybrids so start with the irons and uh this new Qi iron because I know
Stealth had a 2-year run and so now you’ve come out with the QI iron what can you tell us about this yeah so the QI iron really embodies um you know obviously with a 2-year life cycle game improvement product you know we know that these golfers out there you know
Want distance they want forgiveness so very much the same story with with the woods but however it’s done completely differently obviously when you’re wrapped up in an iron shape you got to think a little bit differently one of the things that we found out through all
Our R&D testing over the you know really a long long time is that uh due to asymmetric shape of an iron right you know we know drivers have a very symmetrical shape or face shape right with an iron the other toe is taller than the heel and that’s what happens
Right the toe will Flex more than the heel now what happens typically in most game improvement golfers or most most game improvement irons not going to name names of the competitors out there but generally as the club becomes more flexible the face becomes fast and forgiving the shots actually end up to
The right so here Taylor Made we’re all about straight distance and we want to make sure with these irons that especially game improvement iron that we want these things staying on target we don’t want these going off to the right so it’s not about adding and draw byas through waiting
It’s adding in straight distance through the optimization of each uh face throughout the set is unique and I know you had a lot of success with stealth so how did you just build off of that success when you came up with Qi yeah so going back to that straight distance
Mantra we wanted to make sure that we individually optimize every single iron across the set not only for face thickness um but how the speed pocket actually works with the face so to put it in perspective here um every face has this organic Unique Look So if you were
To cut this face off and show you from behind every Club has its own unique profile face thickness to maintain face deflection to keep that ball more online it’s really um it’s really what’s going on under the hood with this cuz it’s it’s clean it’s simple um it’s a great
Looking product it’s sexy but under the hood here there’s a lot going on at every single Club is unique from one another it’s not the same technology platform just applied across the set interesting and then you still have to to tune that so that it’s a whole it’s a
Complete set so that you’re not getting completely different performance out of say a nineiron to a seven iron or a six iron exactly exact um basically what that means is that you know we’re working for gapping height forgiveness all these things are important to make sure that when we design this set that
The golfers not only hit it On Target but they’re hitting the furthest that they’ve ever had too so okay great and then as we move into the hybrids you know a lot of uh a lot of the players we are fitting um will have a combo of an
Iron set and then move into some hybrids so talk about the qi1 hybrids and how that works well with the iron set perfect yeah so great question right you know there’s a lot of golfers out there that struggle hitting long irons right threes fours fives even sixes or even
Sevens in some cases depending on the golfer right right when you’re dealing with a hybrid you want to make sure that the gapping is appropriate and you want to make sure that um you’re really trying to get what’s right for the golfer at the and the at the end of the
Bag right so when we’re fitting for irons you know we always ask the question uh what’s the longest iron they feel comfortable hitting right and then you guys as Fitters and and instructors to analyze and maybe be realistic with their game to maybe sure where that
Distance is piling up at the top of the bag because they’re not hitting it properly anymore so hybrids come into play here the qi1 hybrids feature carbon Crown appropriate lofs to combo in uh with the sets and also the shafts match up well from a profile standpoint that
If you’re whether you’re steel or graphite you got something that’ll work for you there but I always like to tell people the number on the bottom of the C is generally the iron that it replaces okay um but it will travel further generally than an equivalent for iron or
So because it is launching higher and actually hitting it the way they should right so you have two models here you have the qi1 max you have the qi1 so you were talking about um the different iron sets you have too you have the qi1 and
Then the qi1 HL correct so then they they each pair up with each other right correct yeah so the qi1 HL iron the QI HL iron is really designed for or higher and lighter we’re actually changing what HL me okay all right normally most people think High L right well this is
Higher and lighter lighter okay yeah so lighter weight component package weaker Lofts you know this is the opposite of Loft right this is getting into the where we’re adding Loft to increase height trajectory but we’re also the static weight of the club has been has been lowered okay to make it easier to
Swing so we definitely recommend if you’re going HL Iron Max rescue would be a good compl sure they got a little bigger profile shallow or face two to help hit it in the air a little bit higher to complement those irons yep but the technology platform between the two
Is the same okay you know Carbon Fiber Crown um strategic waiting on the inside and appropriate lofs to make sure that these are gapped appropriately for the set okay and then we have one here that we haven’t talked about yet and this is the qi1 tour yep so talk about this one
This is um we’re getting kind of out of that game improvement realm um and now into the tour yeah so Qi 10 tour really embodies the club for players who want maybe more iron like performance right they’re not looking to replace an iron maybe this is at the top part of their
Set to maybe fill the gap between a fairway wood and the where their iron stop okay sure you’ll notice the face profile here has more of a higher toe a straighter Leading Edge and less offset as compared to an typical hybrid uh we want this to actually launch lower and
Spin more we want this to be workable for this golfer to hit the draw or the fade or to squeeze one out a little low really designed for still have that stopping power if you know you’re trying to hold green exactly and with the adjustable Loft sleeve you can fine tune
