‘Just got to keep the pedal down’ | Sentry leader and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler



World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler shot a 64 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead at the PGA Tour’s season-opening Sentry at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Hawaii.

Tyrrell Hatton had the round of the day with a 62, and it moved the Englishman into a tie for second place with Brendon Todd (64) and Sungjae Im (66) at 15 under par. Four more golfers sit another stroke back, including Im’s Korean countryman Byeong Hun An (64).

Kept a good head on my shoulders. I played really solid. The few times I got into trouble I got out pretty quick and hit some nice pitches and a couple nice putts as well. Probably a lot more of what I did today and yesterday.

Scores around this place are pretty low, but it’s one of those places if you go out there and play well you’re going to get rewarded. If you start not hitting it in the right spots, you can get in trouble. Just got to keep the pedal down out here.

Well, I guess it shows how much of a stupid game it is. Obviously, I putted amazing today, that’s the big thing for how my score ended up as low as it was. Yeah, with how bad my body felt, I’m surprised that, going out this morning, that score was

Just not even entering my mind. It’s more probably like over, over par. 11-over? Yeah. That would be some effort around here. I’ll probably jinx it now and have an absolute shocker tomorrow, but time will tell.
