NEW GOLF BALL VS SCUFFED GOLF BALL TEST… | 2024 SRIXON AD333

NEW VS SCUFFED GOLF BALL TEST!

*** I CAN’T BELIEVE A SCUFFED GOLF BALL CAN LOSE 32.5 YARDS***

I’ve got to test this…

MY GOLF SPY wrote an article saying that a scuffed TITLEIST PRO V1 golf ball lost 32.5 yards against a new TITLEIST PRO V1 golf ball.

Last week I saw an article online from my goal spy and it said that a Scuf Pro V1 lost 32.5 yards against a brand new out the rapper Pro V1 and quite frankly I couldn’t believe it I I literally cannot believe that a scuff golf ball

Can lose 32.5 yards in distance so I’m going to do this test I’m going to do this test but I’m going to use a shrien ad treble three golf po so I’m going to use a brand new out the raap at shrien ad treble 3 I brought with me a scuffed

Stricken ad treble 3 I’ll put a close-up of this one in and we’re going to do some testing we’re going to see how much distance you could be losing if you like me and you like to buy pond balls cuz you’ll know if you watch my Vlogs James

Robinson has always having a good saying what are you using G that Ball’s not even round I’m not tight when it comes to buying golf clubs but I’m tight when it comes to buying golf balls I hate spending you know 50 and a dozen Pro and

I’ll always up to try and get some good Lake balls but I’m going to be using an ad treble 3 because 20 is what I would like to spend on a golf ball and I know these range from sort of 20 to 25 but that’s the kind of PR price point that

I’d be looking to spend if I going to buy brand new balls so I’m going to test the brand new ad trouble PR the 2024 golf ball which I bought of my own money um against a SCUF ONE and we’re going to do some tests like wedge play from you

Know like a 56 degree we’re we going to do seven iron and we’re going to do driver to compare the difference between new and old and actually see what them real results are because I’ll tell you what if my gol spite are right and and I

We going to lose 35 yards by using a scuff gol ball I will never buy another Lake bow again so this video is not boring for you what we’re going to do we’re not going to leave all the results till the end we’re going to go through

Wedges to start with so we’re going to have a look at the new vers used ball in wedges we’re going to hit five shots of each balls and we’ll have a look at the numbers and then we’ll move in sort of like midon and then driver so we’ll not

Wait till the end to conclude I’m going to start by hting five shots with a brand new this is a 2024 stricks and AD treble 3 and then follow on with five shots with a used ball so I usually hit this club round about 110 yards so I’ve

Set that green up at 110 just going to H five shots with a new ball now I must say this is the first time well not all year cuz we’ve only just started the year but the first time in 12 month where I’ve actually hit a brand new ball

And I must say it does look good looking down at a pearling ball well pretty much it me number 104 whilst we’re doing this guys get in the comments let me know what ball you’re playing why you’re playing it and how much you like to spend on your golf

Balls I don’t know if it’s just me’s being tight and or whether you know people aren’t sort of in that market for a sort of 50 pound ball I mean I do love a Pro V1 I’m not going to lie it’s my favorite Ball but I wouldn’t dream of buying one brand new

I must say that does feel really really nice actually that s a really good strike that should have some spin right five with a SCU ball I don’t know what you guys like as well but when do you actually change your golf ball is it when you’ve lost it or

Do you wait until you’ve got a bad scuff on it I mean I generally wait till I’ve got a really bad scuff on it or it’s really discolored before I start to you know Chuck it in practice bag I won’t put every swing in guys obviously I don’t want to boy you to

Death I’ve had a few people say guys we don’t need to see every shot you know but I I almost feel as though if I don’t put all the shots in there I’m leaving the door open for somebody to say oh you fudged it right so let’s just have a look at these

Numbers so ball speed very consistent the used ball actually beats it on sort of dispersion but you know look I’m not a robot um La shangle exactly the same 29 spin 8,900 uh um actually the used ball I’ve actually a little bit better in dispersion carry distance 103 total dist

108 now let’s just have a look at Club data to make sure there’s not too anything you know un TOS here so if we look at efficien say these numbers are just bang on aren’t they you know you could actually call me a robot today uh

Club speed 77 78 I mean it’s in .3 mph I am the robot um it’s all very consistent I can’t see any difference between a scuff ball and new ball with the wedges so let’s move up to Mid irons so we’re going to hit five full

Shots with a seven I’ve set that green at 180 might be being a bit optimistic we’re going to start with a new ball again it’s a very nice pearly looking white that white than I’m used to got my number anyway 183 that’s better hey managed to hit the

Green might not be so much of a robot with a 7 iron guys we’ll try think we’ve got another green just two more now we’re going to get to the business part of things aren’t we to see whether 32 and A2 yards is true loss in distance with driver probably their machine Wen

Missing greens but still I just I’d love to see what you know this test what test results we get and whether we I just can’t see being 32 and a half yards if I’m being honest we that’s why we do these things right five shots with the old

Ball do you think I’m being suspect do you think that with the driver a scuff Ball’s going to lose 32 and a half yards is it me just being suspect or do you think that’s right would you be doing this test if you had the opportunity maybe I’m just accustomed to using old

Balls the final one the moment of truth so let’s firstly start by looking at ball data uh which is a few little surprises in here because the actual old ball with the scuff on it is creating more ball speed and it’s creating more Back Spin it’s actually creating more

Carry and more distance we’ve got two yards extra carry two yards extra distance got about a couple hundred more revs of Spin and uh a couple of degrees more laun couple of degrees more ball speed if we look at Club data just to make sure obviously I know I’m not a

Machine but Club speed 86 milph um efficiency is very much the same so I mean so far I’ve not seen a strong enough argument to suggest that I need to buy brand new balls that’s the first one that Green’s 300 yards which is a pretty good drive for me that were a good

Strike oh that would bomb that was bombed right here we go we’re five balls away balls away for coming to some sort of conclusion on this video stick around for these shots nothing wrong with that I mean this Ball’s scuffed probably more than I would be prepared to use I’d

Not pull that out during a round you know obviously that I’d end up in a practice bag so I’ve not chose just a lightly marked ball it’s quite a heavy scuff that’s on this ball it’ definitely be in the practice bag I don’t tend to use them as bad as this

Oh that was hit well that’s a a frozen line I think this could end up being an advert for ad treble 3 because if they can make a ball as durable as this where the outter cover is actually scoffed and still manages to fly without losing 32 and 1 half yards of

Distance I think um I think that probably just speaks a bit more about the durability of a premium ball you know the outer shell probably being a bit softer maybe these balls don’t um they’re a bit more durable and don’t affect performance so much when they are scuffed I don’t know but I

Don’t think we’re going to get 32 and a half yards of difference in distance with this ball between new and scuffed from what I’ve seen so far two more to go I’m excited for this actually well that will munch like lunch time little bit of fa but I think we

Still get up to three yep right this is the moment of truth right so driver ball speed In fairness to the new ball we’ve got a couple more miles per hour ball speed very similar launch um you know within .1 degree very similar spin actually a little bit more

Back Spin with a with a newable which would actually suit me actually soz I do need that little bit more Back Spin if we look at actual carry distance within two yards total distance within one yard do you know what I think this is telling us I think this is probably telling us

How good a baller strick and AD treble 3 is to be quite fair I mean if you look at I’m going to start calling myself a machine 100 mph Club speed with driver on average efficiency you know it’s within not Point not2 um attack angle you know 2.3 2.4 down

You’re not going to get any more consistent than that unless you actually do find a machine and there’s just no difference really in numbers is there’s no argument there’s no case to sort of suggest that that a new ball is going to outperform a scuff Ball but you know In

Fairness this could just be an ad treble 3 thing and the fact that it’s such a durable ball so guys I hope you’ve enjoyed that video what started out to be to test whether a used ball could lose a significant amount of Distance by being scoof as proven with a test that we’ve

Done today not to be true now I’ll let you make your own opinion on that obviously we have used a stck and AD treble free ball there could be an argument that this is a more durable ball and you know if it does get scuffed

It wouldn’t be as affected as much as a Prov V1 but I guess if you’d like to see me do the pro one I’ve got some scuff balls in my bag I can I’ll buy a sleeve of brand new balls just for you guys we could do

That test we could do that test and see if actually cuz I can’t really conclude by saying my you know my go spy is wrong because we haven’t actually done a prov1 test but we can certainly say you know if you’re using sort of like an ad

Treble 3 I guess something like a true feel you know these sort of more more durable balls where the outer shells not a soft not a europane cover then these sort of balls won’t lose as much distance won’t lose as much spin won’t lose as much ball speed they’re a great

Ball to use if they’re not in perfect condition but I guess I’ve left the door open and answer for another video get in the comments if you want to see that one and make sure you subscribe and we’ll see you in a couple of days time thanks for watching guys bye

  1. I'm playing Kirkland balls, because I lose a couple a round. I've bought some heavily discounted Wilson Staff models at Aud$50. I plan to switch to these after a couple more lessona

  2. You would need to do this test outside in the elements Gaz as the trackman etc wouldn't know the condition of the ball

  3. Honestly my game isn’t good enough to worry with the ball. Kirkland Signature is my go to if it’s something I’m buying. But I’ll use Nitro or found balls I find while looking for mine in the trees. If I’m playing golf that’s good enough.

  4. I always use second hand Callaway soft feel all the time but mine off eBay don’t think I noticed a difference between the used one and the brand new one 👍

  5. I agree with a few people here, the AD333 might be that good that it doesn’t make a difference. When I’ve used them I’ve found them to be pretty nice. I’d like to see the difference between premium tour balls I also think that’s where the difference will be seen.

  6. I have seen quite a few short videos showing the affects of balls with scuffs , grass stains etc when putting and with what I’ve seen it effects the true roll quite significantly. As the saying goes , driving for show , putting for dough. Maybe you could do a test on that !
    Good video nevertheless. 👍

  7. Never scuffed a golf ball on my life . The bloke who lost it before did though . That's where all my golf balls come from

  8. Gaz surely the ball speed isn’t the issue it’s the aerodynamics with the scuffed ball and it’s only relevant to drivers or long irons Try it outside and watch it vary in distance and dispersion. Not a fan of My Golf Spy but they did I a very detailed analysis of scuffed balls. Love your content though 👍

  9. Not a valid test, if my limited knowledge of launch monitors is correct.
Are they programmable to know the used ball is scuffed?
They only calculate trajectory from launch conditions, and I thought they all assumed it's a new ball.
Looking at the GC Quad manual, I see no settings options for the actual ball.
That surely means they will make no adjustment to flight to simulate a scuffed ball.
Please correct me if this isn't so.
MyGolfSpy used a robot, on an outdoor range, with a GC Quad.
I'm not actually sure they used radar to measure the trajectories, but why go outdoors unless you intend to measure independently of the GC Quad?

  10. An earlier comment about aerodynamics is a valid point your test can't replicate on a launch monitor. The scuffs create flaws in the ball that in the total flight cause friction and resistence in the air. The launch monitor will not allow for this hence no comparable difference. That said, 30+ loss in yardage from a drive seems excessive and must be a badly scuffed ball. The main issue to be impacted is likely to be flight path (fade/draw) as, like a mud ball, you'll have a imbalance in ball weight uniformity. Interesting test though.

  11. Doing this test in a SIM is meaningless. A Sim measures Ball speed, Launch, and spin off the face. It has no idea what the difference in air fiction
there would be thru the air with a clean ball vs a scuff cover ball.

  12. Do the experiments on the range with a radar monitor(track man). Not a camera monitor (gc quad) the actual flight monitoring (trackman) vs calculated flight (gc quad) I’m assuming is what golf spy did.

  13. I think this test would be a bit better done at an outdoor range. Cant really measure the true flight of the ball in a sim, bc thats where the new ball would prrform better

  14. I recently took advantage of Srixons buy 2 get 1 free sale. So $33 a dozen for Z stars. Last year I played XV on the same deal but decided to try regular z star this year.

  15. I've never found a noticeable difference between a scuffed ball and brand new. I play used ProV1s. I buy 5 dozen once a year on Black Friday when they're discounted the most. I buy the previous model in 5A mint. They are all brand new or hit once or twice and usually have a random logo. The price is about half of a brand new ProV1.

  16. This type of test would make more sense to do outside with a range finder. I don't think a launch monitor is going to pick up the effect on aerodynamic performance.

  17. Whilst I am a tight ass I would never use a second hand ball. I do however play the srixon soft feel yellow ball purely for the price and the feel. I can't justify paying. $76 a dozen for pro v1s

  18. You in a net with no atmospheric conditions to interfere. When outside the aerodynamic performance of a brand new ball will exceed that of something which no longer matches that designed shape!

  19. Spoken like a true fellow " tight arsed" Yorkshire man Gary lol…… the AD 333 is my ball of choice and I do buy them new but at around £25 a dozen I think they present very good value and they do actually last quite a long time…well if you miss the water….oh and the forest on the right…then that stupid motorway someone put there, but you know what I'm getting at lol 🌟🎊🤩🥳

  20. I use either a Seed or Srixon
toursoft ball Gaz. Very intesting result, I do think it's got something to do with the hardness of the AD333 ball. I'd like to see you repeat the test with Pro V1s if you could. Like you I rue forking out £45-£50 for balls. Tell you what near enough 300 yards total distance from a 100mph swing speed is going some. Great video mate.

  21. I have been playing with the Wilson Staff Zip. They are insanity affordable, and they are very nice. I was not going to ever try them until I found one. It's definitely my favorite "cheap" ball.

  22. Personally I use Pinnacle Soft balls Gary and have been for many years. Might not be your cup of tea as a pro but for me at 16 h'cap you can't beat 'em. They're made by Acushnet, from the same stable as your ProV's, buttery soft off the putter and around the green and long off the face. Best part is they're under £20 for 15 (yes, 15 not a dozen!). Try one out. If you don't like it, at that price, you can chuck it away!!!
