The Open Championship is just that open to all from your major Superstars to up andc coming amateurs it’s a Level Playing Field on Mother Nature’s Turf it’s a complex test but simple maths whoever shoots the lowest score wins in the 151st Edition Brian Harmon

Was top of the class and by some way as much as it as about the journey most of the time for a brief second I got to feel what it was like to see it all pay off for just a minute and the champion gol for of the year is Brian [Applause] Harmon it is the Calm before the gulfing storm we’re on the northwest coast of England this week in Hoy Lake welcome to Royal Liverpool the golf course is in absolutely pristine Condition this is the 13th time ho lake has staged the Open Championship and it’s a course from which great Champions seem to emerge Bobby Jones Fred Daly and Roberto decenzo have all lifted the Claret jug at Royal Liverpool and it was also the scene of Peter Thompson’s

Thirdd straight open Victory a feat that not even tiger or Jack has completed there was a four decade absence from the open rotor before returning in 2006 and It produced a great Champion Tiger Woods won an emotional Victory on the Hoy Lake Turf just a few months after the death of his

Father and following in Tiger’s footsteps 8 years later Rory maroy lifted his soul clar jugg to date at that time he had the golfing world at his feet and many thought more open silverware was all but inevitable a decade on there have been highs and lows

From miscuts on home soil to St Andrew’s heartbreak at the final [Applause] hurdle seizing that day on the St Andrews turf was cam Smith the Australians magical final round 12 months ago etched his name into history meaning the CL jug had quite the journey before arriving back on England’s Golf

Coast I think the history of the open is what makes it so special it’s our oldest trophy that we’re competing for the last round last year was all a bit of a blur to be honest I remember feeling probably more relieved than anything else on the 18th hole once it

Was all done and it’s like a dream come true how are you mate I’m fine thank you very much she’s beautiful isn’t she if you have fun with yeah it was so so much fun it’s nice to be back I just had to hand back the

Trophy there I I I thought I was going to do it right but I was actually holding back some tears so yeah bit of a bit of a moment I guess that crept up for [Applause] me with FES and golf’s Global game starting to heal the world’s best

Descended on Royal Liverpool to compete for the oldest prize in golf world number one Scotty Sheffer entered the week very much the man to beat following a dominant season to date and in terms of ly’s golf I I just think it’s really enjoyable and I just want to

Play a lot more of it and I get a little sad that I got to be done with it until next July John Ram also went into the week with history on the horizon the Spaniard had aims to become the first man since Nick valdo to win both the

Masters and the open in the same year to be able to win at this golf course you know knowing the history of the players that have won here in the in the last few I’m excited to get it going and it would be absolutely amazing to be sitting back here on Sunday PGA

Championship winner Brooks keco once again proved his major specialist credentials in lifting his fifth major in May and was looking to add a clar jug to a growing trophy cabinet links golf’s all about avoiding bunkers and positioning yourself in the right spot and playing smart and just comes down to

Making putts um I think it’s a good golf course um I don’t think length is a huge Advantage out here um so it be interesting see drawing the majority of the local support would be Tommy Fleetwood who grew up just 20 M away from ho Lake winning a major is a dream

Or winning the open is is a is a huge huge dream so um no matter where that is that’s always something that I’ve always visualized and always um thought about but then again um having the opportunity to do it um so close to where you grew up is something that’s very unique and

Very special and for sure you know I’ve pitched it a lot and visualized it a lot um just haven’t done it yet in person so that’s hopefully the next thing with the players assembled in Liverpool and a field filled with major pedigree the stage was set for the 151st Open Championship to begin

While the 150th championship at St Andrews rightly celebrated the past the 151st at Royal Liverpool was very much about the future and what better way to highlight this than asking a local player a member of the club since the age of seven to hit the opening t-shot on Thursday

Morning Matthew Jordan 329th in the official world rankings had qualified for the open a week before now in front of a pack grandstand on the first te including many friends and family the time had come to fulfill a lifelong dream I remember as a kid that was when the open obviously officially started

And and we’d all kind of wake up earlier it would always be half six alarm and watch and watch the first t- shot so for me to obviously now participate in that and do that especially around my my home course was was obviously just a me an experience that I will carry for

Probably the rest of my life this is game number one on the tea from England Matthew [Applause] Jordan I’m sure I’ve heard a bigger reception on that first te for the the first player at the open yes I was nervous of course I just try to

Replay the occasion in my head and just try and get used to what will happen you know who I was playing with people were cheering and that seemed to comfort me a bit really so actually when it came to it I wasn’t uh I wasn’t uncontrollable let’s say

That as you mentioned a very awkward stance putting for par Jordan had the opportunity for the first big Roar of the championship great save what a lovely settler that is for Matthew Jordan of course any any put a held from then throughout the whole week

Was was greeted with a Roar and um yeah there’s a couple of kind of like semi quiet fist pumps involved because when so many people cheer for you of course it gives you such a lift so there was definitely a factor of that with the first out of the way Jordan

Could start to attack the course he knows better than anyone in the field trying to get on that shelf and hold it there Nice Shot everybody played to hard but would this not be a fairy tale story for a birdie three and to lead the open yeah

That was kind of the first moment that I kind of properly enjoyed I know the put on one was great but that was like a right okay good kind of um attitude whereas this one obviously people people cheered and it was like I kind of smiled um even though I’m normally quite

Focused and stern-faced I couldn’t KN with with um what people were saying if you want to talk about the future of the open then look no further than Christo LPR the 22-year-old 6’8 in amateur champion from South Africa is already amongst the longest hitters in

The game and came to the open looking to make waves a put for the solo lead of the Open Championship early on day one he will be exciting no doubt about it and there was more magic to come the 14th hole is proving a tough test but not for

LPR oh how about that oh what the Amer what a day yeah it was a big steal I was not looking very good that whole most part of it but um I think it’s going to be one of the hardest holes of the whole week for sure

Steal a 40- yard Chip Shot hole it um yeah it was a pretty pretty good moment with Jordan heading down the final hole AAR would put him in the clubhouse at two under I remember as a kid um being up in that 18th grand stand certainly for Sunday um so so even the

First day when I was walking down it on the Thursday there was still loads of people there it’s hard because you are focused at the same time like I’d left it in actually quite a difficult spot so I notic so many people and um and just

Tried to enjoy it as much as I possibly [Applause] could so later on the grand stands will be full but they’re loud right now and he probably knows about a third of the people sitting there lampre was definitely eyeing another Birdie on his final hole four

Under on the 18th T an eagle would tie Tom Lewis’s 2011 record for the lowest opening round in open history by an amateur testing five-footer for the South African excellent a birdie at the last and it is an opening round of 66 lampre topped the leader board on his

Own the first amateur to shoot around in the 60s at Royal Liverpool yeah I was pretty cool I’m not going to lie I kind of didn’t focus on anything else but my game the whole day and walking down 18 um seeing my name at the top of the

Leader board that was it was pretty special I took a moment just kind of breathe in and kind of enjoy all that the morning wave was well underway now and with the sun shining and the wind no more than a breeze there were birdies to be had Tony feno showing off

His short game at the [Applause] 13th also executing inch perfect Precision was SEP strier with a magical touch on the closing hole oh come on you’ve got to be kidding me that was one right there that sebie bios would have been proud of emiliana Grio had this putt on the

18th for a 31 on the back nine and to join lamp at 500 but he could with that one wow 665 under and tied for the lead what a PT and it was an opening 67 for Brian Harman to finish this round off with a

Birdie I knew I was playing well but I can’t recall what I shot in the first round I I know that um I had a good day I I knew that I I made a few putts obviously had no idea where the week was going to take me I I just remember

Feeling pleased that that I was still in contention after a day of golf in the Open Championship world number one Scotty Sheffer started well this on two for an early birdie but a one under 70 was all the pre-tournament favorite could manage 2021 Champion golfer of the Year colum morawa struggled early but lifted his spirits on the 15th couldn’t could he thank you very

Much and then defending Champion cam Smith teed Off picked up that te pretty quick for good reason right down the absolute center of the Fairway but it was a tough day for Smith five Bogies for a 72 but he showed off his putting Wizardry on 14 stop it I’ll tell you what he’s never

Out of a hole with that club is he the big crowd drawer in the morning was Tommy Fleetwood a steady opening nine the Englishman went in search of birdies on the back oh and they love it birdies on the 14th and 15th this to move to five under on the

16th he’s due one of them he’s hit so many good puts from mid-range started off a little bit I I didn’t really get it off the tea that well on the first few holes but once I got going played the par five fifth really well one bogy I made actually a

Great goal shot on um half Club too much and uh for the rest of the round just played really well and nice to get on a run on the back nine really the par put on 18 to remain in a tie for the lead lovely and what a great round he

Had always nice to knock that butt in on the last for par and and come off and um there a crow favorite to be in the clubhouse now to have played so well it’s a it’s a lovely feeling I can rest up start getting ready for tomorrow um but yeah as first

Days go this was a pretty good One with the sun still shining into the afternoon All Eyes turned to the Marquee group involving Rory maroy and John Ron on the tea from Northern Ireland Rory [Applause] maoy left they obviously down the right side should be okay there were high hopes for meloy returning to the scene of past

Success but he couldn’t catch fire on the front line the four-time major Champion turned one over and slipped to plus two on the 12th hole it was a similar story for Rah one over at the turn he finally found his first Birdie on the tricky T oh yes indeed for John Ram

But that would be the only one of the day waited a long time for it but birdie number one the crowd hoped there would be more fer Rory on the horizon oh oh here comes an Eruption and with the parfi 15th to come this was the 2014 Champion’s chance to move despite finding the green side bunker an up and down would be another move in the right direction that is a wonderful bunker shot he would make the putt to move back

To level P but ran into trouble on the final hole the bunkers are Hoyle sternest test and mooy found himself left without many options oh no you got to be careful of the footprint as well that’s the problem with all that hard work on raveling could he create one more moment of [Applause]

Brilliance and maroy delights them at the 18 that was a magnificent goal shot Rah also left himself a tester for par this for a 73 [Applause] meloy for a battling par and an opening 72 great up and down from maroy to finish it off and what could have been a disaster in that bunker but he saves a five wouldn’t have been too happy walking off the 18th for the Boogie um

Especially after the two shots I had in there so yeah I mean overall you know two over through 12 to get it back to even for the day um I’m I’m pretty pleased with that that a few puts started to go in on the back nine for me

Which is really nice to see so um you know hopefully I’ve got my eye in now and um can you know build on that over the next 3 Days it’s called Little ey and it made its debut this week the newly formed 17th hole at Royal Liverpool certainly caught the players attention if you hit a good shot put it on the green you have a clear look at birdie if you miss the

Green you have a clear look at bogy I think it’s an interesting hole depends on the Wind uh if you get a crosswind there that could be pretty pretty interesting there’s not really a high percentage play you just have to hit a really good shot since the last open was played here

In 2014 the short but daunting PA three was created facing into the teeth of the Irish sea and bringing a new challenge to the closing holes of the r as far as that hole goes I’m just going to try and hit a really good shot and

That’s pretty much all you can do I mean I’m a big believer in the short part threes make it difficult um I like it yeah there’s not much room for error up there and I think it’ll be you know a really exciting finish to to Open championship for sure I think it’s a

Great ho and on Friday one man conquered little eye as we watch Smite here I thought pretty much what we expected we were going to see a lot of birdies oh and how about a hole in one I knew I was going to be um on the

Green which I was happy about and then halfway through the flight I was like oh this is getting good and then as it was coming down about to land I was like be good and then um yeah pretty it must have gone in I haven’t even seen the the

Replay but it must have gone in pretty fast cuz the the crowd just went crazy like straight [Applause] away the sun still Shone on the Liverpool links and the morning belonged to Brian Harman yeah ultimately Friday was the the day that that that won me the golf tournament I went out there I

Played a fantastic round I know that I made three or four straight birdies on the front [Applause] nine i’ hit a really good drive on five and then didn’t hit a great three-wood and got really nice fortunate break to where I had a little bit of room to work to that back left flag but I got really lucky in the fact that I could attack

That flag from where I’d missed that three-wood from It’s quite unlucky that it didn’t go [Applause] in the American had now opened up a three shot lead but would need all his scrambling skills again early on the back nine may have made it oh what a par for Brian Harman kidding me he’s got it going today doesn’t he remains buggy

Free remains 8 under finding the 18th fway and a Clear Sight to the green Harman had the chance to further extend his lead 242 easiest pin position on 18 as he found the grain probably hit you know two of the best shots of the week on 18 with the driver

Five iron and hit a great putt so I I played fantastic golf on Friday and you’re going to have to have a round like that to try to win a major championship and that was the day that I had that Round what a way to finish that round Brian Harmon 65 Eagle on the last four birdies one Eagle enough said what an incredible round of golf I have this really bad habit where I try to predict the future and try to figure out what’s going to happen so being in the

Spot that I was in the golf tournament having an active brain does not help you at all so it was a struggle to try and reel that in and to not give into my tendency of trying to figure out what was going to happen that [Applause] weekend Rory maroy teed off 10 shots

Behind Harman but clearly meant business boom maroy is in the red that stroke looked great right there very [Applause] positive himself easy tap in for bars making it easy on yeah he really is coming towards the T the moments of Rory [Applause] magic kisses the flag stick lands about 5 six feet [Applause]

Away but Bogies on the 11th and 15th set the world number two back once again he needs needed a grand stand finish on the last I say the big flop is the only one that’s a superb shot that [Applause] is wow that is some up and down that is

From there a grinding one on the 17 and into red numbers I might be n back I don’t think there’s going to be a ton of players between me and the lead going into the weekend so depends what the conditions are tomorrow obviously depends what Brian does as well so um

Right now it’s it’s not quite out of my hands but at the same time um know I think if I can get to three four 500 par tomorrow um going into Sunday you know I I’ll have a really good chance John Rams round also turned into

A grind despite two birdies on his front nine and the frustration was evident Hovering just above the cut line the world number three couldn’t afford a single slip up in his closing [Applause] holes two inside the cut line now but once again putting for par on the 18th well and you know that totally changes kind of the mindset you have going into the weekend you thrown one away and I feel good shot on their part which is not an easy task out here you know I just keep going back on those four putts from inside four feet that

I’ve missed you know that’s those are four shots that you can’t give up in major championships two over or two under makes a massive difference right now on the score right and that’s that’s mainly it I want to be consistent but I want to consistently be a little higher

In the leaderboard which I still have two days to do but going to need a little help from the field in a really good round tomorrow to put myself within distance there were players making moves on day two mimu Lee’s putter was hot as he jumped to three under pound with a 68

Gety up and Camy young also jumped up the leaderboard after his solo second last year at St Andrews the American moved inside the top 10 with a [Applause] 68 Tommy would teed off in the afternoon wave looking to chase down Brian harman’s lead turning and one over 36 the Englishman needed to get something going on the back nine and the chair and it is a first birdie for Tommy [Applause] Fleetwood and up and down back nine

Included a drop shot at 13 followed by birdies at 14 and 50 it’s a beauty an absolute Beauty but he found himself putting for bogy on 60 [Applause] wow once again a nervy parut on the 17th with the safety of the clubhouse looming and up and down for a level par

71 pretty good nearly very [Applause] good very nicely done he really had to work hard over those closing holes didn’t he and Fleetwood will head into the weekend at 5 under I actually felt like I played really really well I just never got any momentum building didn’t

Really hold the puts at the same time the way that I started the round yesterday where I felt like I had to grind it out a little bit today was the Finish where I felt like I had to do that and that’s just as satisfying as

Playing great um you know you stuck in there and overall level par wasn’t really a bad round today feels pretty good playing with Fleetwood Sheffer had to make a birdie in his final two holes to make the cut after a great approach to the seven this was his

Chance in the greenside bunker on 18 the world number one needed something to go his Way there we go there we go I tell you what that little half plugged lie helped him hugely there also in need of a moment of magic was the defending champion who had to birdy the last to make the Cut just how about a two brilliant just brilliant best of the day right [Applause] there what a three at the final hle Tom yeah an eagle for cam Smith he may well play alongside Zander Shuffle tomorrow Moving Day on the 151st Open Championship with 36 holes left someone

Needed to go low early and plenty were going to try the Fitzpatrick brothers were clearly both on a mission younger brother Alex going in close on the E that would be his third bird of the the day turning in 32 older brother Matt wanted in on the

Action it was a 4 under 67 for the 2021 US Open Champion but Alex wasn’t done yet this for yet another Birdie on 15 his fifth of the day tell you that’s impressive 300 power for Alex another would follow on 70 one more on the L would see him sign for a

65 and there you go we’re going to hear a lot more about this young man you know super special round um I’m not familiar with this environment and they might have people out here but yeah me and my caddy had a great time out there and you

Know things went our way which was super cool and realistically it doesn’t matter how tomorrow goes obviously I would like to play well but it’s been an amazing week and memories that I’ll you know I’ll always remember been with my brother and my family and all that St

Stuff so yeah it’s just been a super cool week um you know I I hope to do more of these when uh as the years go by Victor hland was a man many fancied this week after a strong outing at St Andrews last year and started fast with

A birdy on his opening Hall great start for the Norwegian suban sharma’s good week continued putting for Eagle on the par five fifth hello you know what he’s a big event player Tom cim also propelled himself up the leader board with a superb 68 now to three under for the

Tournament I got into a really good groove of being able to just commit to the shots that I needed to hit and not really worry about where the ball was going to go I think six was kind of the key to the day where it was a it was a

Mid three iron and I hit it to I think 10 ft you know perfectly just right of the hole straight up the hill and uh obviously making the pot helps but just key things like that I feel like in a major championship really help you know just those really hard holes where

Bringing the hole back to even p a difficult hole kind of brings back momentum and kind of definitely makes you shoot up the leaderboard despite being 12 shots back no one should count out John Ram after scraping inside the cut line the moners Champion had the bit between his teeth one under through eight the Spaniard reeled off four birdies in a row suddenly looking like he couldn’t miss oh and he is getting hot here he is getting very hot the par five 15th and a

Chance for a sixth birth of the day look [Applause] Out and on the 16th the crowd waited he’s got some great round going John R this is for another birdie there you go there you go TI for [Applause] second after bogging the last two days in a row the world number three was not about to repeat the mistake a chance for

An eighth birthday and a blemish-free 63 stunning absolutely stunning from John Ram what a move from the Spaniard it was the lowest round in an Open championship at Royal Liverpool by two shots and Rah was suddenly back in the conversation as the best R of play in

The Lings of golf course ever it’s pretty obviously my lowest run on the Links golf course and it’s an Open Championship right so also the lowest round shot on this course and feels really good but it’s a lot of work to do tomorrow the job today was to come out

And give myself the best opportunity I could with the rain just about holding off the leading PTO I became very aware of Tommy fleetwood’s support very early in the day on Saturday Tommy is is a prince of a Gody and his fans were were supportive of him

And I certainly don’t blame them for that but it I I made a choice that I wasn’t going to let it bother me um I didn’t take any of it personally and I had plenty of support too and I just tried to focus in on that and focus what

I was trying to do and just try my best not to let it get to me and there was movement on the first hole Harmon putting for an opening PA but it is in all likelihood going to be a bogey there at the first for our leader with the lead down to four

Fleetwood struck the next blow wow that was inches away from an eagle two for Tommy Fleetwood approaching the short fourth Harmon’s inch perfect Precision suddenly eluded it that was set up by a a poorly executed t-shot that was probably one of the few mental errors that I made I

Should have played Short and left to that Flag yeah I I knew it’s some point there’d be a struggle I knew at some point it would get really hard and I just kind of kept saying that if you can overcome those those points of struggle then you’re going to be fine and like I

Said I knew they were come and I almost felt good that they came early now the lead was just two and there were plenty of people out on the course making moves Rory maroy started off with an opening bird I’ll get them going ster or also went hunting

Birdies aggressive play off the te so he can see the putting surface will it spin it will straa should have a great chance to get to five under par just an hour into Brian harman’s third round and there was a whole host of players trying to hunt him

Down the leader needed a nerve steadier and he found it on the par five fifth well I could certainly feel the energy of the crowd and they were so polite to let me know where I stood in the tournament at all times so I was aware that that people were were chasing me

Down but that that was sort of the Catalyst for flipping that round what a fantastic effort that is the par three ninth with the rain now persistent I’m aiming about 10 to 15 ft right of it and then when I turned it Loose I looked up and it started about 5T right of It oh what a shot the birdie on five flipped around and the one on9 sort of started you know some really good shots on the back Nine meanwhile fleetwood’s putter was Stone Cold after the birdie on the second it was PA all the way through the front nine on 10 a putt to save Pal others needed to find something fast short in three so he’s chipped up to here and he makes the birdie young L the most likely challenging a birdie on 15 to keep the chase alive ster also hunted a fast finish a birdie on 14 and still on for a good

Round moves to six and second place at the moment Jordan’s great week also continued four birdies in the last five holes to sign for 69 that finish on Saturday those four eares to close were a part of the whole week where I think I was most impressed

With myself I think I I knew I was playing well I just couldn’t nothing was going in nothing was really happening that round even though I didn’t feel I was doing much wrong so I just had to keep going and and all of a sudden I turned what was quite frustrating round

Into one that was really pleasing and and kept me up there and and put me in one of the last groups on Sunday which is something that I really wanted to achieve so that was probably one of my kind of prouder moments of the week mooy’s early promise faded but a

Late birie on the 17th had the 2014 Champion still in the chasing Pack But hman was relentless I had a perfect number I think I had 142 or 43 yards that was just an N iron just firing right at it trying to stay aggressive not trying to protect anything trying to make birdies now what a shot that is Harmon for birdie at

13 he’s got another one hello he’s gone to 12 under now six ahead an up and down on 18 for a 69 yeah well played the Temptation there is like all right well I’m going to at least have a four shot lead tomorrow a five shot lead

Is better than a four shot lead you know we need we need all of these we need every bit of it we can so I had a really good putt there and that was probably the first time that I was like okay like this is

The formula for me like I cannot let I can’t give an inch out here you know because I’ll let myself slip a little bit if if I don’t execute every time I hit some balls after I got done Saturday evening I think it was 9:45 and then went cold tub and then had

Dinner the C so I didn’t get home till 11:00 and I want to say my tea time the next day was at 2:30 or 2:30 or 2:40 something like that so once again slept eight or nine hours so I was in a pretty good spot where I didn’t really have a

Lot of downtime didn’t have a lot of time to to think about it would have loved of woken up to a nice sunny pretty day on Sunday but that certainly wasn’t the case the rain was relentless on Sunday morning Brian h man was 18 holes away from lifting the Claret jug someone

Would need something very special to snatch her away from [Applause] it Lori maroy look to kickart another final day charge oh oh oh hello backto back birdies hopefully these putts continue going in and he can make a big run at this he’s left this in perfect position

Two really sensible shots with the two iron off the te and the way we know he can pitch the ball three birdies in a row for Rory six under for the Championship Alex Fitzpatrick was eyeing up a top 10 at his first major [Applause] championship despite starting bogey bogy Tom Kim eagled the fif to keep himself in the hunt and ster certainly knows how to get hot getting in on the ACT [Applause] early and here he is the man of the

Moment Brian Harmon history’s on his side isn’t it with the rain unrelenting the leading pair teed off I didn’t know what to expect in bad weather I’d practice some in you know the the rainproof stuff but wasn’t super comfortable you know it’s it’s a day where it can really get away from you so that was a challenge I had to overcome and it certainly wasn’t easy young

Needed birdies but had the worst possible start on the first well well well that’s pressure still 12 under Harmon had a tester for par on two not to be it is going to be a drop shot for Harmon and after a mistake off the TM five this is a

Popart unbelievable oh you’re certainly always a aware that you can lose anything I used that fear to bring me back to the present I was just content to wait until the 18th hole to figure out how many times that I’d execute I was going to try and execute as many as

I could stay as present as I could and do the best job that I could much like round three he needed to steady the ship and found the green at just the right Time that’s an extremely good shot it’s wet it’s rainy I just bogey the part five so really easy to to kind of let the wheels spin there made a really really good swing knocked up there to 12 15 ft made the Putt and and that really

Settled me down and and a birdie to what a bounce back for Harmon he just won’t go away like a bulldog nobody better on the par 3s this week and that will give him a boost of confidence I executed that about as well as I could and that’s when I started

Thinking like that again again again just keep doing that and the more times you can do that the better off you’re going to be on the seventh he took another huge huge step towards the claric J well it’s wonderful isn’t it backto back birdies for Brian Harmon he’s back

Where he started the day at 12 underp and he is back to five in front mroy now for par up ahead maroy faled as did Sta after his heroics yesterday many thought Rah would have the best chance to chase har to the line but the world number three couldn’t get anything going day continued to head towards a top 10 finish an unlikely birdie from the increasingly wet rut that’s just unbelievable oh my goodness it goes in the

Hole I’ll give him a 100 couldn’t do that again give him 50 hard to get within a foot in the group behind Kim kept up the pace with a near perfect approach going to round four the mindset was more of like man I’ve come so far from from

Day one you know I I I was in aund and something place and now I’m you know inside the top 10 of a major championship maro’s charge wasn’t quite done but once again it was too little too late pours it in there I love the pace

That went in with Tony he’s not going to leave anything out there if he can help it Sharma rounded out a great week a birdie on 15 to secure a place inside the top 10 some week for him and some week for Indian golf as [Applause]

Well and Jordan 2 finished off a special week a closing 70 and the spot inside the top 10 I had I think it was about 124 I think I can remember for top of my head and once I hit that shot you know I I said to Chris mccad I said right you

Know now time to enjoy it because I think if I didn’t enjoy that moment I kind of kicked myself a bit because you know it is so unique and so memorable certainly for me that um that I wanted as many memories as possible that final put I didn’t quite

Know where I was in the leaderboard I didn’t it didn’t really matter I just wanted to hold it just for that kind of one final moment I think the pressure that you put on yourself is is so big that knowing that I was able to deal with that I

Think is so self-satisfying and gives you so much confidence um going forward to know that no matter how much pressure you feel that you still can actually perform so many Treasured Memories from this week at the open at his home [Applause] Club straco wasn’t done yet approaching

16 now he wouldn’t mind birdie or two to grab second on his own and look at this what a glorious shot that is wow Kim owned the best round of the day the 67 to grab a share of second place it’s been a very dramatic year for me a

Lot of ups and downs um a lot of goods but a lot of tough moments a lot of big learning experiences and I just remember walking up the 18th green with my caddy just telling him about man as hard as it’s been this is really rewarding obviously we didn’t win you know we

Finished second place by shots but it was my best finish in a major so just think about all the tough moments I had this year to kind of cap it off that way at the at the final major of the year so uh no it was it was

Rewarding with so much promise at the halfway stage Fleetwood must be disappointed with his weekend despite another top 10 finish at the Open [Applause] Championship Rah finished with a birdie on it securing himself a tie for second and what a lovely way to finish foram a

Birdie at the last it’s a round of 70 and a share of second place here at Hoy Lake young would be very disappointed with this final day 73 but secured back-to-back top 10s at the Open Championship that left Harmon out in front for the best part of three days The famous yellow scoreboard open Champions throughout history have sat a top its height with one hole left to play Harmon’s six shot lead is a feeling not many have Experienced With the rain at its heaviest all day that left Harmon on the 18th [Applause] team solid as a rock yeah walking up the 18th was something that I had thought a lot about um for a long time how I would handle that in a major championship if I ever

Got lucky enough to do so my plan was I laid up on my second shot well back and had a four iron into the green for my third my plan was to hit the four iron into the middle of the green and then to take my umbrella down and really enjoy

My walk uh but I hooked my full iron Into the Bunker and I heard the crowd you know ooh and so I I didn’t know where that ball was and so I was very anxious to get up there and see the ball so I I would love to have this romantic

Story about me walking up the the Fairway and you know just remembering all the great shots and and enjoying it but I was more concerned about where that ball was in the bunker and then when I saw that it was in a very manageable spot uh that’s when I started

Looking around and and that’s when the that’s when it all hits You are rising to their feet around the 18th great shot from Harmon giv it just in line [Applause] There Brian Haron is the champion golfer of the year he has won the 151st open at Royal Liverpool lovely scenes of Celebration he has displayed great skills I wanted that ball in the hole I wanted that tournament over I wanted to hug M caddy I wanted to hug my agent Jeremy I wanted

I wanted to celebrate I was really proud of what i’ had done and and um I wanted to take that moment you know for myself like a Vindication for all the all the work all the uh sacrifice and all the the things that you put yourself

Through with with no reward in in sight as much as it is about the journey most of the time uh for a brief second I just I got to feel what it was like to to to see it all pay off for for just a minute and with a score of

271 the winner of the the gold medal and the champion go for of the year is Brian [Applause] Harman I I couldn’t be happier to be its champion and to all the fans to all the nice words and all the the People Back Home who were rooting me on I appreciate

It so much thank you thank you thank you certainly thought I could do it um didn’t have a lot of evidence over the last you know little bit to suggest that it would have happened the way that it did but just really happy I stuck with it every golfer has

Times when it doesn’t feel right they don’t want to do it anymore you’re in a spot where you feel like that that nothing’s going to go right so I feel like how you handle that determines how the rest of your outfit’s going to go I mean it’s hard especially when you start

Getting a little bit older and and I’d only won twice over a 12E career so it’s hard to stick with it sometimes but I like the work I I I like the labor I don’t mind you know the hours and digging it out of the dirt so for me it

Was just a culmination of those things but but happy to keep doing it
