Will the Browns have the scariest defense to face in playoffs? | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
https://www.youtube.com/NFLonNBC

Let’s fast forward to the playoffs defense wins championships although I don’t know how much that applies in an NFL that is so driven by offense but we’ve seen every few years a great defense can put the clamps on a great quarterback in the Super Bowl are the

Browns of all the defenses of all the teams that are qualified or will qualify are the Browns the scariest one to face if you’re an opposing offense I would say after Monday night I would say the Ravens would be the scariest team for me now they don’t have

The player on the edge that the Browns have but they have some really good and very very physical depth I think both these defenses are top five in the NFL and maybe top two but as of right now I mean recency bias is that the the Baltimore Ravens shut down the San Francisco

49ers and really semi embarrass them in s in Santa Clara and we saw the uh the we saw the Cleveland Browns basically play the Toledo Mud Hens last night so I don’t really know what we found out about the Browns that we didn’t already know miles Garrett had one sack last

Night after the game he opened up about a personal tragedy his uncle died earlier this week and he actually considered not playing the game if his mother had asked him not to play in the game he would have skipped the game let’s hear a little bit from Miles Garrett as he volunteered this

Information about a personal issue that did impact his his ability to enjoy what was a celebration for everyone in Cleveland last night lost a loved one yeah uh lost him on a Christmas night I heard know the next day and uh no just have really known how to how to

Deal with it know just talk to my my siblings my mother making sure that she was okay it was her her brother and uh know just dealing with how it’s been affecting me physically and emotionally um I don’t know I’m not one to really wear it on my face too

Often but you know it’s it’s you know it’s taking his to in different ways and just you know keeping my head to the sky and trying to know stay focused got know that’s what he want me to do and that’s my mother want me to do maturing is knowing you

Know not only that you need help is but when when to ask for it and uh know I’m not I’m not prideful enough to say I don’t need help or I don’t need know uh someone to lean on at times and uh you our family that I’ve leaned on

But my you know some people around here have you know also know reached out help at hand uh know someone to know be a be a rock or you know just a a listen and ear cuz I’m not one to you know spill out emotionally I I’ll keep it inside

Just like my my dad will know we’re we on to just you know kind of just soak it all in and not not let everything show and uh it’s it’s got to got to come out in some form of fashion and I got friends to to help me like uh kind of

Know expel those things he later said that getting it off his chest is kind of the best medicine for him just talking about it to reporters after the game bearing his soul and acknowledging that there is an awareness to when you might need help and when to

Ask for help and I think it’s a powerful message because I think a lot of people will internalize issues like that try to tough through it come off as strong able to deal with anything I don’t need help and I I think it’s great and I’m glad we

Played that I just think it’s a great message for anyone out there who’s struggling there are people who are willing to help because we’re all going to be there at some point I think that you know in an age where there are many reasons to look at humanity and be

Disappointed I think when it comes down to that raw basic need when someone has a requirement for help more often than not people are willing to help because we all know it’s going to be us one of these days that need the help yeah and I think there’s been more

Of a will willingness now Mike to to talk about things like that I think it’s good and I think the more you talk about it the more you send the message particularly to young people uh because both through the pandemic and through just the stresses of Modern Life and bullying and things

Like that I think that it’s good for people to see that even the icons have trouble mentally sometimes um you know totally different story but Kirk herb street now is dealing with uh issues with his son who was a football player at Ohio State who may eventually need a

Heart transplant because of heart disease and so he admitted hey I go on the road a lot I need some help and that’s really the basis for bringing his dog with him on the road is his emotional support and you know we can all laugh at that oh he’s a dog all that

But you know it helps Kirk herb Street and good for him for admitting it for telling his family look I need to have a touch of home for the three or four days a week every week from Labor Day till middle of January that I don’t see you guys so I

Think it’s good that he does it I think it was great last night what miles Garrett did yeah absolutely we wish miles Garrett and his family the best at this horrible time and of all the time there’s never a good time for something like this but around the holidays it it

Makes it even harder I think to process that when everyone else is happy and everyone else is moving on in the world that’s one of the things that’s strange when when death touches your family in some way and you notice the rest of the world is just going on like nothing

Happened that’s just a weird reality of dealing with intense personal grief like that so we wish him the best as he processes it and and we appreciate the fact that he was so candid about it because I think it will help others whether he intended to or not it will

Help others and and we applaud him for that David joku got to applaud him I mean he was on Pace to shatter the record that Amari Cooper just set on Sunday for franchise receiving yards with 265 in a game he had 113 before people even got settled into their seats

Peter hey you know David and joku is speaking of postseason Awards you know he’s elbowing his way into the the discussion of who should be the tit end on the all proo team and on the second Team all proo and so I think he is doing a good

Job this is a guy remember Mike who said whatever it was two or three years ago he wanted out of Cleveland and I bet he doesn’t want out of Cleveland now and I think the one thing that he gives the Browns and gives Joe Flo he gives them

That kind of security blanket that a quarterback needs so desperately especially a quarterback just getting to know his new team and all his new receivers you you you look at the book on en joku he’s an excellent route Runner and I think he is giving Flo something that especially with Amari

Cooper out of the game he’s given him a legitimate number one target uh for Flo who desperately needs familiarity especially familiarity in the short and intermediate parts of the field hi it’s Mike Florio thanks for watching PFT on YouTube hit subscribe for the latest news and Analysis from pro football talk

  1. Does Peter King not remember that the Browns shut down the 49ers this season as well and won with PJ Walker??? Is not just the Ravens who have shut the 49ers.

  2. I think that maybe no team would want to go into Cleveland in the playoffs. I looked at Joe Flacco’s win-loss record in the playoffs and he’s 10-5, obviously 66 2/3 percent. Lamar is 1-3 and Dak is 2-4 so I don’t really trust those teams once January starts. But experience and confidence really play a roll in playoff games and Flacco has that. Plus I think he won a Super Bowl as a Raven.

  3. I tell you, I would trust a dog or a cat over a psychiatrist any day. Herbstreit is smart by traveling with his pooch. (I have maybe 10 feral outdoor cats now that I’ve taken in for shots, microchipping, and getting fixed and they’ve gotten friendly over time. An animal will rarely let you down.)

  4. Man, prayers for Myles to keep playing even going through such a loss of a family member like that. And then put on that type of performance, what a G.

  5. Come on Peter King The Toledo mud hens they were the second ranked pass defense in the NFL get the f out of here with your BS

  6. They are not that scarry with their 2 turnovers a game average, they are just as scary scoring over 30 points and a defense that can cover the turnover coming from the effort to score. I think they are the 2nd best team because of the scoring, Miami can score but could be limited by a good defense and do not have a good defense. Buffalo can score but will go on the road to Cleveland, probably only in the championship game. They will lose to the 49ers Ravens team, though that team has 3 maybe 4 losses and the Browns is one of the losses the others they did not score.

  7. Peter King's such a CLE hater… He must've lost a lot of money betting against this city, only logical explanation.

  8. Peter king is a hater …. he hated watson and rhe browns since the start, dudd just loves to here humself talk, a d thats a lot. Consideing he is talkkng to florio…

  9. If Delpit, Walker, Okoronkwo come back in playoffs, our D gonna be scarier. Dont need to be the scariest, just win games. Most important things are 1. Cooper and Moore both back 2. D Hop ready for playoffs 3. Fully rest for all players and no more new injuries. Go browns!!!!

  10. I think Browns have a scary defense + offense. Complimentary football at its best. You know Flacco will push the ball down the field. And you know browns defense will make stops. Jets vs Browns looked to be a shootout until the defense didn’t want it that way after a really bad first drive. Schwartz ruined Jets offense after that first drive.

  11. I swear these guys forget that the browns beat both the #1 and #2 seed with a backup qb. so i think itll be a rude awakening for the media when we shut them both down again. (edit: i meant the guy on the right)

  12. Last I checked Browns Ravens are 1-1 against each other. Both Beat the 49ers. And both have very similar records. They can both beat each other. There is no favorite there. Its just going to be a battle and 1 has to win. Who has the better Defense though. You are an idiot if you dont say Browns. Browns Defense is Historical Level. Doesnt mean they cant be beat

  13. The scariest thing about the browns is a lot of players on there defense are hurt and there still performing at a high level

  14. Someone remind Mr King that the 49ers posted double the yards against the Ravens that they did on the Browns….and they also scored more points against the Ravens than they against the Browns. Oh yeah, and the Browns beat the 49ers with a 3rd string QB!

  15. The browns and ravens defense are kryptonite for an offense like the 49ers. They both have an amazing shot at winning it all.

  16. If anyone will scare anyone it will be Schwarz. Myles leads a few teammates on dance parties where they get a sack, a third down stop, and then dance like they like they won the super bowl. Each player is average and Shwarz has them ticking. I've beena Myles fan since we drafted him, but he is nothing but a distraction to the better players.

  17. These guys know absolute nothing about the subject they are talking about. They seem to think the Browns season started Thursday.

  18. Tell me what team in the AFC or NFC that scares the Browns. Peter King has forgotten about the Browns wins over the 49ers and the Ratbirds. He's infatuated with the Ratbirds and dismisses the Browns. Should the Browns face the Ratbirds in the playoffs, I don't have to tell you what's going to happen.

  19. The Browns have the 3rd best defense in their own division like come on. In an effort to prop up Lamar Jackson for MVP the media seem to refuse to talk about the Ravens defense.

  20. I feel like the browns have been playing with their food these past few games. Not even putting 100% in and still roasting teams. That'll change come the playoffs and hopefully we get people back.

  21. All of these sports analysts seem to forget that the Browns are the first team that shut the Niners down. Purdy looked out of sorts and that was his lowest output for the season. Since Peter wants to bring up the Ravens beating the niners. Matter of fact, the Browns did it with a 3rd string QB

  22. My browns are a family. The fans hurt along with Myles Garrett because we love him like he is family.
This team and the brotherhood they have is something ive never seen in any other NFL team.
They love and believe in each other.

  23. "Hmm, I wonder what Florio's take is on the Browns defense.."
Clicks on thumbnail, immediately sees Peter King, clicks off video

  24. Here's the thing people aren't realizing, The Browns give up so many points because of all the turnovers. It isn't because they are getting driven down the field on. Actually it's quite the opposite. They are not being driven down the field on. It's points off of turnovers. That is absolutely killing the rating of this defense. If you were to take off all of the points that the defense gave up due to turnovers, this team would be allowing the fewest points at a historic range
