Satisfaction is the death of Desire the recently returning CM Punk announced his entry into the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match and it’s going to be his seventh appearance in the big multi-man Affair and his ninth overall on the show he is always someone who many felt should have

Won The Rumble in the past at different points in his career but it’s an Accolade that has eluded him along with his goal of headlining WrestleMania that could all change in 2024 given that he is now one of the favorites to win the big match but have you ever wondered

What the history of CM Punk’s performances in the Royal Rumble are let’s go back 17 years to 2007 when punk was a young upstart in WWE by January of that year he was a few months into his first WWE run and he was making a big impact Punk was always seen as the

Classic Indie darling before the term ever became a thing he came into WWE with a lot of heat and hypee he was a standout in Ring of Honor and other promotions outside of WWE before he signed with them there was some reported internal resentment of Punk’s momentum

That he made outside of the company and then brought into it but plenty of fans on the growing internet wrestling Community saw him as a sign of WWE breaking from the expected line of new talents that they brought in his first 6 months under the bright lights of WWE

Were a huge success that’s why when punk entered The Rumble in 2007 in the number 11 spot it was surprising that he lasted for a whole 27 minutes in 16 seconds before being eliminated by the great KH representing ECW the third tier brand for WWE at the time he had only an

Elimination to his name in the match which was a combined effort by him and eight other superstars to take out the big visera yeah Big Daddy V the next year with Punk still fighting his way out of the East CW ranks he defeated Chavo Guerrero to qualify for the big

Match he entered in the number 12 spot in the 2008 Rumble and lasted a respectable 23 minutes and 50 seconds to once again only get one elimination this time though he could take full credit for tossing that man over the rope with both feet hanging the floor and those

Feet were the feet of Chuck Palumbo incidentally Chavo Guerrero the man he beat to qualify for the Rumble Match is the one who would end up eliminating him by the 2009 Royal Rumble Punk was way higher up on the card in WWE he moved over from ECW to Raw captured the Money

In the Bank briefcase and briefly had a respectable once again respectable run is World Heavyweight Champion he entered the entire Fry at number 18 the latest entry spot he’s ever had in the big Rumble match so far once again crossing the 20-minute Mark and Lasting 22 minutes and 29 seconds and yet again

Having a single elimination taking William Regal out of the rumble this time before being eliminated by The Big Show 2010 saw CM Punk have the shortest time of any of his Royal Rumble matches up to that point in his career entering at number three he lasted only

10 minutes in 4 seconds but had five impactful eliminations and he did some pretty ridiculous stuff Punk got Dolph Ziggler Evan Bourne jtd of Crime Time Beth Phoenix and Zack Ryder out of the match despite not being the winner of the whole thing Punk ate up his minutes

In this allstar game of WWE since this was overzealous straightedge Society cult leader Punk he used the pauses in action to chastise the audience on the microphone he even tried to convince the gigantic great khi to convert to his straight edged way of life it was something that truly showed he could get

His character over in any situation Punk ended up having the second most eliminations of that Rumble Match just behind Shawn Michaels who illuminated six men it was Michael’s old palale Triple H who took CM Punk out of the Rumble that year in the first in only 40-man Royal Rumble Match ever in 2011

CM Punk entered at number one for the first time in his career it also ended up being the longest appearance for him in the rumble up to that point as he eliminated seven men thanks to the Nexus yes the faction he was leading at the time in terms of his performance that

Year he was tied with John Cena at seven eliminations a piece and technically lasted a minute longer than the goat with 35 minutes and 21 seconds to be that Year’s Iron Man yeah we know all the numbers here but it was Cena who eliminated him that

Year that kicked off 2011 for CM Punk which may have been one of the biggest years of his career up to that date he would eventually shed the whole Nexus thing go off on WWE break through the fourth wall with the infamous pipe bomb promo that led to the title match match

Against Cena in Chicago at money in the bank one of the best WWE matches of the last 20 years I was there we can thumb wrestle over it at some point turning into wrestling’s hottest baby face fan favor at the time he entered 2012 as the WWE Champion and defended the title at

The Royal Rumble against the showoff Dolph Ziggler with John laurenitis as the special guest referee he ended up defending the title successfully and holding it throughout 2012 and even having a big match against Chris Jericho at WrestleMania that year Punk may have had the championship around his waist

Going into mania that year but he had a big chip on his shoulder because yeah you didn’t get to headline that WrestleMania this guy named The Rock came back and he got to close out the show with John Cena by 2013 the Royal Rumble came along and CM Punk was a very

Very different character with the WWE Championship around his waist at this point for 434 days making him the longest reigning world champion in in the company since the 1980s but that was all going to come crashing down because if you smell la la la la what The Rock was cooking up it’s

Another main event and as you probably know the rock defeated punk in a very strong match while John Cena won the Royal Rumble Match to set up a twice in A- lifetime match at WrestleMania 29 that we all saw coming 100 miles away the 2014 Royal Rumble was a very

Interesting situation but not for the right reasons for CM Punk coming into the match out of the ring he was dealing with multiple injuries a reported infection issue and on top of that he was deeply frustrated with his status on the card going into the prime WrestleMania season he was still

Determined to achieve the one goal he had never achieved in WWE headlining WrestleMania in his mind he felt that if he had put up a good enough performance at the Rumble WWE would be forced to put him in a big main event fet Mania unfortunately it didn’t turn out that

Way at all for one Daniel Bryan had the rising tide of fan support coming into the big match and Batista who was primed to have a big run in Hollywood with Marvel movies was going to make a return run to WWE and it looked like they were

Going to go with him instead as for punk though he came into the match in the daunting position of number one again he lasted an impressive 49 minutes and 12 seconds his best performance in terms of time in the Rumble match he had three eliminations in total and ended up being

Taken out by Kane a man he had already eliminated but the scene that played out in the match was a nasty one as Punk suffered a concussion during the match and was dealing with WWE’s medical staff to try and solve the situation or get him out of the match felt the care was

Not being taken to him in proper time Kane would end up choke slamming Punk through a table at ringside in a moment that punk realized that once he had taken that blow that maybe he was done with WWE and wrestling in general the following night punk would not appear on

Monday Night Raw and actually walk out of the company after this he was pretty much done with wrestling and was suspended by the company and even had his termination letter sent to him on his wedding day with fellow WWE Superstar AJ Lee if you’re looking back

At the history of punk that we just covered here you can see that there really wasn’t the perfect time for WWE to have Punk win this pivotal match specifically in 2014 when it really felt like it was Daniel Bryan’s year timing has always been the biggest factor in CM

Punk not winning the rumble and even during his peak in 2011 2012 into 2013 he was busy defending the WWE Championship which is not bad by the way 2024 is a completely different circumstance he’s received a hero’s welcome from everyone hey almost everyone and has a lot of moment

Momentum on his side look up the numbers Punk is a bankable guy to have win the match this year and to add to that there’s a rumor match between him and his despised rival who has said both in character and out of it that he hates CM Punk we’re talking about Seth Rollin

Which is the best option to Main Event one of the nights of Wrestlemania 40 you can see CM Punk has a history of incredible showings in the Rumble Match you don’t need to win the whole thing to win over a lot of fan support coming out

Of it if you want to get down to the numbers he spent 168 minutes 12 seconds across six Rumble matches averaging a little over than 28 minutes per appearance WWE simply doesn’t give Superstars a long period in the Rumble match without any reason and depending

On where he enters he could be in for another Iron Man performance on one hand you can’t count down those other names that are out there that could come in and take this whole thing like Cody rhods who would be the first man to win back-to-back rumbles this Century while

On the other hand you have a superstar who may just be the greatest performer in Royal Rumble history for not winning the entire thing overall we would say that the best chance that CM Punk has in his entire career to win the rumble combining all the factors and timing of

It the potential for a WrestleMania main event that he wants and deserves the red hot momentum is right now but if you want to go in depth oh over whether or not it should be Punk or Cody who wins the Royal Rumble in 2024 watch our detailed analysis video

Of it right here thank you for watching get into the comments below let us know who you want to see win the Royal Rumble

  1. CM Punk should win the royal rumble next year, he absolutely deserves it and there's a story to build upon him and Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 40.

  2. All I know is I'm SUPER EXCITED to see CM Cry Baby Junk beating Seth Rollins winning championship then immediately after LOSING it to Damein Priest cashing in his MIB!!! 😂😅😊 YESSSS!!!! I LUV WRASTLING!!!!! WHEEEEW!!!!!!

  3. It's his time now but it makes me wonder – what was the plan going to be if Punk didn't come back?

  4. CM Punk needs to face Roman at WM not Rollins. Everybody knows night one main event isn't the real main event and everybody knows Roman will be in the real main event.

  5. “Main Event” one if the nights. This is where he will definitely have a problem with it and as a fan I would too. The “MAIN EVENT” is the last match. We already know its going to Roman and Rock sadly. Or Roman and Cody.

  6. There are no two main events, there always has been one main event. Night one main event is not a main event, it's a gimmick to draw more tickets. Night two is a real main event

  7. What incredible history ?? dude complained about not main eventing wrestlemania quit and went to the ufc and got his ass beat real bad tap out under a minute left the ufc went to aew became another pain in the ass and now back to wwe end of story nothing incredible here

  8. This man trying to win rumble and headline wreslemania since 2010.It all started in 2010. Fans will be pissed if he doesn’t win it in 2024 that’s for sure. We understand wwe and punks difficult history but this time punk need to be in main event to wreslemania. He deserves it since 2011.
