I’m on a mission to break 80 at Oak Quarry from the tips and this time I have Jin, Minsuk and Seo Young with me on the ride.
The first nine went well with a birdie to help me finish +4. Although I probably could’ve avoided a bogey on the 9th hole, I felt like luck was on my side and I got away with a couple shots that could’ve lead to some bogeys or doubles instead of getting away with pars.
The luck continued on the 10th hole par 5 but the 11th hole knocked a bit of wind out of the sail with the drive resting in front of a fairway bunker lip. A good up and down on the 12th stopped the bleeding but after 2 unplayables and 2 lost balls on 13, 14, 15 and 16, I began the desperate fight just to break 90. Ultimately I ended up finishing +11 on the back resulting in a disheartening 87 but I guess it could’ve been worse.
I’m going to have to try a different strategy for the back nine to break 80. There’s definitely a stretch of holes that really tests your accuracy and distance control off the tee. The second shots don’t get any easier so you really need to grind hard on the back nine.
