Hello and welcome everyone to the 2023 Nantucket open this is the lead card action featuring one of the best cards I’ve been able to TD as well as film in the booth with me today I also have Harry Chase who’s coming back even though he’s not playing he’s doing

Commentary thanks for joining us today Harry absolutely happy to be here and at this point I’m no stranger to the Booth but this will be my first time commentating on a round that I’m not involved in so it’ll be interesting to uh be surprised for once and first we

Got Casey white here our leader after round one he’s been in anet a few times has been in search of that win see if he can do it today and also searching for another win to add to his Stellar season Paul CR who shot minus five is only one stroke back

On his teammate and he has a 107 round in his pocket also tied or very close with him is Steve brinster coming from New York with the crew and finishing off the card is Kyle morard who we all know and love who actually is your 2022

Defending champion and had a heck of a year uh to get back here in Nantucket even though it’s raining these guys are having fun you can see the smiles on that Card so here’s Casey on P one a 619 ft hole par 4 took his FD he leak it a little left and here’s Paul CR with his Cloud breaker and another good start for Paul just a little deep you don’t want to be near that Fairway it’s almost similar to

Where you were round one Harry yeah he he’ll have an option from over there we’ll see how creative he can get but I mean this is just a treat and we got Casey and Paul battling at the top and normally you know you might have

A few others in the mix as well but we have Steve brinster and Kyle Mor arti joining this card I mean insane this is this is a treat to watch Kyle getting a favorable kick off the T there most likely taking his destroyer and of course got to give a

Big shout out to Todd rainwater who’s just so helpful you can see here he’s actually helping Steve uh make some adjustments to his FL and he’s always just a stellar person to have um come watch us play as well as to have host for at n Tucket it’s just a

Prestigious event thanks for doing that yeah decent shot there by Steve and was my first time meeting Todd this year great dude but if he could just change his name to Todd perfect weather uh I’d like him a lot better you’ve been thinking about that one how about you

Harry Paul cray going to be taking his fd3 just not being able to get up there but he’ll have an easy Par Four is just fine on this first hole and it’s a pretty tight battle I mean you can see the scores minus 6 – 5-4 minus four

We’re going to have a very back and forth card here in the ring a great shot there by Kyle super controlled and if you’ve seen this coverage before and and you’ve seen a lot of hot scores and um you know a lot of top touring pros come through here I

Will remind you this rain has been some of the craziest rain that we’ve ever seen here that we’ve ever played in and not only is it raining now but this is round two and we had a full rain round round one and never stopped during the lunch and depending where you were you

May have been outside this entire time just getting poured on so it’s going to be a true mental battle between these competitors today and we’ll see who comes out on top absolutely great point about the rain because actually there was such a delay between some of the

Finishers from the round one and when we started round two I mean there might have been a 2 and 1 half hour delay for some of these players in the Rain the soaking rain and never gave up and there was a lot of people that actually just

Wer weren’t able to play that second round because of it so kudos to everybody that was able to stay and finish out great start for Casey there finishing his par right there yeah I was lucky to stay with you rivus um only about a 3 minute walk from

The course and yeah like you mentioned I had about two and 1 half hour break when I finished there were some cards still on whole 12 so I actually had time to take a warm shower completely change my clothes definitely an advantage heading in around two wow and that’s why we did

That and here’s a ho two that was a great shot by Kyle do you know what he was throwing there I believe that is um one of his Omens overstable nine speed and uh we’ll have a pot for birdie that’s what you need on this whole a

Fairway n speeed you don’t need a destroyer Casey’s going to be leaning on his fd3 he’s going to be having Circle two look from there we see these players going to an overstable disc because of the late finish it’s it’s hard to flip something

Up and get it to fade a lot of these players are going to be throwing on a flatter angle letting the disc carry straight and then having it dump at the end yeah I would assume that Steve’s going to be throwing his Eagle here or something like that oh what a great

Rip Perfect Look at that and this hole average 2.85 so you know even in the rain a lot of people were getting this one meanwhile on hole one it was a 4.24 average so it kind of all evens out between hole one and hole two look at

This signature hop step and great follow through yeah got to be a brinster t- bird for my man St right here I’ve come to know his game a lot more this year and you give him a shot like this this is his specialty well done yeah he eats

These up here’s Wads for his Tulu great put there and great way to maybe be a starf frame everybody’s in the circle edge here or inside of it so going back to Casey wow great putt there he’s finished second to Paul lari winning $1,500 so without some of the

Bigname pros other than Steve brinster and some of the local Legends you know Casey is really looking to win this one yeah absolutely I mean we know Casey has a guy on tour he goes out and he tries to win all those big events but when he comes home he is incredibly

Committed to getting local wins and is very passionate about it he’s not just playing him just to play him or just because he’ll see all his buddies there which of course is a reason as well but when he comes to these tournaments he is looking to

Win a lot of birdies on hole too with starf frame first GMT starf frame of the round and a great pull by wads there we’re going to get a replay here on hole three this is 274 feet left to right texo forand yeah I mean w is just unaffected

By the rain right now forehands backand he’s throwing it all and uh I’ll have a putt to go three for three he was one of those that was ready right after lunch and you could tell that he just wanted to get going and he also was a little

Worried about catching the boat home so he’s he’s playing a little bit faster than usual great shot by Paul CR I believe that was his fb3 yeah definitely an three there from Paul and let’s see Steve lining up the backand interesting play if he can get it to

Drift he did it last round too I don’t he needs something just a little more flip and tip other than that I know he’s got this at the ATT he’s aced on me with the same shot at Kisco unbelievable Talent yeah I mean he still had a putt

Too and almost dunked it um deceivingly straight for sure but uh yeah we see Steve go to the backand give himself a look I was surprised that Paul was this short great bid there and this fall averaged 2.76 so we’re already seeing two misses from this this group

Here oh oh wow I swear wads get some of the nastiest GMT spit outs I don’t know what it is but that wasn’t easy to watch and you can see his reaction I I just have to kind of pan on it for a little bit yeah that was nasty a little bit too

Much Hiser straight through can see why it happened with the wet chains and everything but yeah still unfortunate never when you think is going to spit well that would have been for a turkey start right I mean that that’s incredibly a lucky and he had the best Drive of the bunch

So he’s going to being the professional that he is he’s going to walk off you can see he’s not even that mad and we’re going to move on to Hole four and he’s lucky that he didn’t even lose the Box on that situation yeah and he throws a great one

There again going to the forehand and just seems to be unaffected this is Casey with his dd1 he gets up there he likes his blue dd1 he I know he wasn’t too happy being a little too too right but he’s going to be fine and I believe this is Paul with

His um the Nordic Phenom too or potentially the cloud breaker he got up there pretty far I know he’s got two pink discs that look very [Applause] similar back to the roller for Steve is it going to flip up ah not enough cut angle there he doesn’t get

The The Unbelievable role that he did on round one if you want to see that make sure to check it out on the GMT Channel we have that up there and this is an incredible shot by wads oh man wow Kyle he came to play I know you said about you know how

He handled that like a professional and when you play a course like this in the rain I guarantee every player is going to have have a moment that just absolutely shocked them that either a spit out or an unlucky tree kick or it just just slipped right out of their

Hands and the reason why Kyle’s on this C is because he is able to just bounce back from those like it’s nothing he’s been there he’s seen it and he’s professional about the way he plays so definitely for you young players that maybe one little mistake derails you

Around take a little note from Kyle the local Pro here in mass and uh on to the next hole yeah and on to this local Pro Casey white what a upshot by him he was a little right but he is under the basket for his Birdie on whole four

Here and this hole average uh right on 4.0 so you know not too easy not too hard after the first two holes or after hole two and three it gets a little tougher here especially in the next par fives so that was a great three by Kyle

Like you said a great bounce back and he is three for four I mean that’s just an incredible start uh we did Miss Paul cranes put he did get the birdie as well uh this is actually where the other camera broke and stopped working out of nowhere I had

To call Dan Snyder I used my iPhone for the next few shots here and I don’t know what happened here but it just stopped recording but I also made sure to get the next few shots with our other camera so we had three different cameras out there try to get

This coverage for you all yeah big shout out to GMT these shots are great but I mean this is now about hour six hour 7even that we’ve been out here it’s been non-stop raining and it’s getting worse throughout the day I mean it doesn’t really look like it because we’re we’re

A little protected by trees and stuff but I promise you the rain is coming down incredible shot by Steve brinster there he’s going to be all the way up there Paul CR going to be taking his Cloud breaker and getting incredible shot there I mean look at that tunnel and he

Just got a unbelievable flare skip at the end exactly what he was looking for yeah Paul is so good at keeping things Compact and throwing distance shots whether it’s forehand or backand doesn’t look like he’s throwing it too hard but he gets that pop and he keeps

It really controlled and that’s why he’s going to be really good at holes like this and really good at a lot of courses in New England you’re friends with Paul do you feel like you guys are always competing back and forth I mean we have one more

Coverage to to uh put out with the dragonfly but I always wonder you know it’s got to be fun to battle against each other absolutely well I mean when I first met Paul we were in a in different spots in our career he was just starting

Out and I’ve been playing for a few years but not too much competitively it’s funny we both started playing competitively at the same time and he just kind of came out of nowhere as someone that was just a little upand comeer to oh crap he’s way better than

Me so um you know obviously I I give Paul all the respect in the world he’s a great player and at this point um a lot better than I and I remember he asked me for some advice maybe off seon and he was trying to chase me and now I’m

Definitely trying to chase him wow that’s that’s incredibly awesome to to see and thank you for sharing that because I’ve always wondered what your relationship was that was a good shot another good shot by Paul he’s going to be up there for his four look uh no no Eagle looks

So far on this one uh but here’s Steve he’s actually going to be on his third shot and this is gonna be his fourth shot so at best he’s gonna be able to get a PA of bogy he’s struggling a little bit with his forehand um remember

On round one we we saw a few of those as well but he is pulling the confidence to do it again and that’s the pro that we’d love to see in him here is wads just taking his approach and okay with and satisfied with the birdie approach and

Look so Paul cran strikes once again this is his third birdie in five holes playing very well and putting the heat on Casey white a little bit Kyle with another birdie also moving to eight under and yeah I mean pretty much a perfect round so far nothing you

Can really change other than the spit out and uh he is putting it together in the rain he’d be perfect if it wasn’t for that spit out I mean he’d be that’s just it’s insane and at this moment Josh D Batista is also heating up a little

Bit we we got to keep our eyes on him as he were playing these front nine and back nine rounds in the lead card here Casey good clean up for his birdie so that HS that is his third birdie of the round here’s ho six another par five John Huck does not mess

Around I love this one I think this might be my favorite part five I was gonna say the same thing certainly my favorite part five maybe even my favorite Hole uh It’s Tricky it’s deceiving yet somehow niccon showed it’s Eagle B so so much scoring Separation on

This hole it’s about distance it’s about placement it’s wide open then it gets Technical and this a whole round in one hole basically yeah I mean just the design and it’s and Paul’s just going to show you a little bit of a textbook shot with his dd3

Here and I think what makes you know Nantucket amazing is the ability to be able to place in a course and have all skill levels uh play it and have fun and also still be challenging at the same time you know you have your whites you have your Blues you have your

Professional gold layout and I think that if courses want to keep up with the the mainstream and and some of the top five of the state or whatever it might be you really have to have those different layouts for these different players and it has to be challenging

Enough and fun enough to keep coming back W good shot by Casey there looks like he got away with a little lucky break hard to tell but um yeah about your point about top five courses if you want to have a top five course in Rhode Island just put one in you’ll

Automatically be on the list well Ro doesn’t count though Harry but uh so here’s Steve gonna be he got jammed up last round on whole uh coverage so he’s able to get up there and fix his mistake so the rain seems to be lightening up here a little

Bit don’t hear it as much and Paul getting incredible sky hook there and landing in a great spot yep shout out to Kareem his childhood hero it’s where he learned that one and wads just textbook I mean he’s going to be up there for his birdie look I mean he is on fire

High this could potentially be number five for him and it’s close I mean we have minus 9 minus 8 Steve brinser got unfortunately bogey but he’ll heat up and then minus8 for Kyle so the the Casey Paul and Kyle really neck to neck here love to see

It okay upshot for Paul but he’s a little short he’s going to really have to get a long putt to get that one and this approach is deceptive I feel like you feel like it you should be able to get through every time but I I I

Know I don’t I don’t know about You yeah a little frustration from Paul there you could see tailin putt just knocked it down at the end see if you can correct on the future holes yeah and and Steve’s got to hit this if you want wants to keep up with these other guys

Here wow great pu there right on the right side chains that’s what you want to see on this hole nice birdie Steve and here’s Casey from the deep end of the circle yeah yeah you can see he was in like that ninja stance I call it when he

Really goes low to the ground must have been some sort of headwind Putt and just trying to keep it low and almost like a rising putt the whole way um started super low but surprised he missed that one we saw a few of those he made on the first

Round do you know where he got that from because I can’t really say that I’ve seen any other Pros go that low on he must have learned it from devans right cuz devans has a bunch of trees everywhere okay so this is whole s the shortest hole in the course is just

Straight as it can be we’re seeing Kyle struggle a little bit with a forehand here one of his first blemishes of the round actually and Steve brinster is going to be leaving it a little too left but he’ll have a circle one put maybe Circle two Edge yeah really interesting to see the

Breakdown of players that go forehand versus backhand here I mean it’s dead straight 170 barely plays that long um we see a lot of players that maybe are backhand players go to the forehand because they’re comfortable at this short range um it’s it’s interesting to

See and uh we have Steve with the loan back and we’ll see how that fared and Paul actually almost AC this during the skids match you should check that out and he takes the same similar route with his tactic up and down the middle there here’s Casey to recover birdie

Save he threw his tactic as well on off the te and here’s Kyle to save his PA after amazing start wow I mean AI on this course never feels good but a Bogi on this hole I mean I know what Kyle’s thinking he’s a professional it’s just

Any other bogey any other hole but when it’s 17 78 I mean you kind of just pencil it in as a two already to take a four especially he was tied up with the lead it’s gonna sting yeah I mean two you you want the two three is

Okay but four it feels like a double let’s just be real and after almost being right there with everybody Kyle’s just going to be one back now we have Paul and Casey tied at minus 9 and Steve Breer getting the birdie and also the box here on whole

Late standstill signature shot with his Rock I presume and dialed yeah that looked pretty signature see if Paul can do the same thing and just catches those middle trees he’ll have a long look from there definitely in PK range mhm and here is md5 for Casey he’s going to just try to take

That left side which looks so inviting that the md5 is stable and he gets a good he’s going to be up there though and this whole average 2.82 so about2 Strokes easier or harder than whole seven but this is turkey alley the infamous turkey alley where you really

Want to get two out of the three if you get one out of three you’ll be okay but if you get none out of the three you’re feeling a little deflated whole eight Wades two look unfortunately gets a little bit of an air bounce but he should have a power

Save ah would have left to seeing that hit I didn’t realize he was that short I thought he was going to be a little closer with that md5 yep those two boys are no strangers to straddle putts unable to get him to go in but let’s see Paul an awkward

Stance here even he at his height has to go down to a knee and um that’s the thing about Paul he actually he enjoys going down to the knee I don’t know if it’s a comfort thing but I’ve seen him in stressful situations if it’s a little bit low ceiling

He is happy to go down to the knee and I’ve seen him make some incredible putts doing so yeah I’ve seen it too I mean he’s just a incredible player I guess his the style of putt kind of suits his knee putt or regular putt it’s not too

Doesn’t adjust too much there Steve’s getting a birdie and just like that he is bounced back folks he is in the card in the mix with all these guys and wad is going to be taking his par he is settling down now after unbelievable front six

Holes and Casey getting a par so not too many birdies um for these guys in the first nine holes I mean we’re getting a little tired it seems but hole nine let’s see what happens here 282 ft left to right Steve is going to be Heering out and almost get being exactly where

He was round one yeah I know you mentioned on whole six that the rain had slowed down yeah that went away very quickly we are all of a sudden back in heavy rain and um you can attribute a lot of these little mistakes to why

But Paul just throws a gem there up in the circle playing clean golf as he normally does and he’s happy about it inches when he when he comes back smile like that you know it’s good and that was inches from the ace here is Casey White he’s going to be throwing his let

Me just double check here fd3 now what do you think so we got Paul going on tour next year will he be the first ever Mo Pro Tour winner with braces you know I was thinking about his uh adventures coming up and I I can see him winning a Pro Tour event absolutely

I don’t know which one but he’s got the consistency the drive the pot and he’s only going to get better so I I I can see it wow speaking of better oh my gosh T tour the tour might be calling Steve B Stevie B in 2024 too with putts like

That that was 65 70 ft that was an incredible Putt and now Steve Briner is on a little bit of a heater this is his fourth birdie in a row wow yeah he really took advantage of Birdie alley right there and all of a sudden we

Were saying I mean Steve was like three or four back and he’s right in the mix now oh my oh oh oh no I can see why he was frustrated though because he just was it’s he wasn’t big puted clearly but that was to just keep up with Paul I

Think that’s why he’s frustrated because he’s he knew Paul was hard so he in order to just keep up and have minus 10 with him he needed that putt so that was the most frustration I think I’ve ever seen that of Casey but I I understand why yeah like I mentioned Casey’s not

Out here to make friends case is not out here for second place he is looking for that win and we’ll see if he can close it out in round two we got our scores to the front nine in what a battle what a treat for us GMT Watchers minus 10 with

Paul cray minus 9 with Casey White we got8 ne8 with Steve and Kyle and don’t look now Josh Deo is on the rise we’ll see what he can do absolutely thanks for being here here Harry and thanks for watching everyone stay tuned back night coming out soon subscribe

Like thanks for all you do not going to want to miss it see You

  1. Any change to get the covarage of the back 9 any time soon? Impressive speed to put these rounds out, it's hardly been a month from round one 😂

  2. I understand the Casey frustration on that missed putt, hopefully he bounces back and takes the W
