The Golden State Warriors lineup of Stephen Curry Klay Thompson Andrew Wiggins Draymond Green and cvon woney was simply not working this year for a multitude of reasons about 20 games into the season the realization from Steve Kerr was that he’s going to have to give the younger players on the team a chance

Jonathan kuminga and Brandon pky two players who have made the most of their minutes and earned a spot in the rotation but the newest Warrior to break Steve Kerr’s rotation is now Trace Jackson Davis the 57th overall pick who played four years at Indiana University when the Warriors views their 57th

Overall pick on PJ D this was not getting your normal rookie Trace Jackson Davis has much more experience than the average rookie who’s normally a oneandone freshman that is 19 years old Trace Jackson Davis had a productive career at Indiana University he came in as Indiana Mr basketball in 2019 and by

His senior year he was putting up 20 points a game 10 boards four assists nearly a steal the night and almost three blocks per game standing at 6’9 with a 71 wingspan Trace Jackson Davis is able to move laterally really well and contest that the rim and not really

Die on pick and rolls he’s also able to play as an excellent role man as he’s coordinated enough to Simply catch the ball and finish easy plays here are some examples this season where the Warriors who are 28th in the NBA in Block shots have really been able to benefit from

Trace Jackson’s ability to contest at The Rim especially as a weak side Defender most famously in probably the biggest moment of his career so far the Warriors are in need of a stop late in a must-win game against the Celtics Steph Curry has 5, and signals over for tjv to leave Al

Warford and come make the play to contest Jaylen Brown at The Rim he’s able to do so and gets a massive block definitely the biggest moment of his career up until this point this is what Trace Jackson had to say after the game first off getting out there um I trust

My coaches and what they’re doing their philosophies and um just watching the game and seeing how coverages work seeing how to get my teammates open we got two of the best Shooters in basketball so really just studying it where to be on the defensive end of the

Floor how to guard ball screens and my coaches on my assistant coaches are walking me through that as well so just but always staying ready in the back of my mind you never know when your name’s going to get called earned a new nickname from Klay compson Kay announced

It right when we got in the locker room so I think I’m Trace Jun now and then Steve Kerr had this to say basically just admitting that there’s nothing else he could do he has to play this kid more he was um tremendous I mean he was the player of the game there

Were you know there were several um huge plays um obviously Steph shot probably being number one but um trace’s block on on Jaylen Brown um but Trace was the guy who shifted everything plus 25 in his minutes the U second great game in a row

You can see the uh the impact he makes so so um he’s going to play and this Boston performance was coming off of a night when Trace Jackson Davis had 148 32 and one in under 20 minutes against the blazes he was one of two rookies to

Record that line ever in that low of minutes played the other person to ever do this was mikola yic and if that two game span wasn’t enough to get mainstream media to stop overt talking about Draymond Green and his issues and actually talk about the Warriors players that are making a difference Trace

Jackson Davis followed this game up with another double double putting up 10 points and 15 boards five of them being offensive rebounds in just 24 minutes played shooting five of seven from the field he was the first rookie with a 10 and 15 game in over a decade so this

Means in this three-game span where Steve Kerr has decided to give the 57th overall pick a chance he’s putting up 11.3 points per game 12 boards per game 2.3 assists 1.7 blocks and he’s shot 16 of 23 from the field he’s a Plus 43 over these three games he is just impacting

In a major way Trace Jackson Davis is definitely going to put numbers up especially if you sort it by the amount of minutes that he’s playing but I’m not here to only talk about the numbers that he’s putting up because what is maybe his biggest value is just the fact that

This kid knows how to play basketball here are are examples of how Trace Jackson Davis can make a major impact on this team by doing the little simple things really well here he is playing pick and roll with curry and he’s just a roller that can simply catch the ball

Here and finish this is worth noting because he’s playing with Stephen Curry and Chris Paul here he is catching a lob from Chris Paul for the easy finish this is what Chris Paul had to say about his relationship with them uh not just me um

Trace is such a a good um I want to say kid but I mean but he he’s such a good player right and he’s a rookie and I I’ve been pretty easy on him all season long and I finally sort of went nuts on him a little bit I think in Portland I

Think it was Portland was that our last game yeah Portland and he just started killing he’s been hooping and I’m not saying that’s why but um I think he has the capability to do what what you guys are seeing and he just gives us a different dimension cuz he plays Above

The Rim uh his shot blocking ability and I think what he’s seeing now is that he does a lot of things that don’t show up on the box scores he changes shots and his athleticism um is something that that we need it just gives us a different

Dimension and here’s clay who’s able to beat his Defender to the rim and he knows that two are committing where he could find kyj D for the easy finish and then onto what maybe helps the Warriors the most which is TJ V’s ability to protect the rim watch him back up here

As a faster scoot Henderson is attacking the rim his lateral movement is good enough to still remain with scooch and get the block at The Rim on this play here he’s able to come over and help a smaller Chris Paul and make a play to stop the shot and then here he is

Altering CJ’s floater after he beats Gary Payton II to the rim and then along with playing at The Rim what makes tjb really special is just his ability to survive these screens as a big young player that’s not really normal he doesn’t commit too hard to Hawkins here

And he’s still there for Zeller who catches the ball and dumps it off and kij jigy is still able to get a block as a help Defender he doesn’t really overcommit anywhere here doing the same thing here he commits just enough to stop priter but less enough to be able

To recover and get the block at the rim and then Zeller going one-on-one here that’s simply not easy against tjd who who always will just stay home and make the Easy Clip and then just be awareness to help here if he leaves Zeller because why stay with Zeller and is still able

To recover for the block here’s he’s kind of beat if you consider it that but it’s not beaten enough to whereas he can’t recover for the chase down block and then as the help Defender where he’s been really impressive he realizes here Klay Thompson is screwed and comes over

To block Bradley Beal watch him here as the help Defender he’s far away and sees Jaylen Brown attacking the rim is able to get over and get the block and then most famously like we showed earlier probably his signature moment of his young career so far realizing that the

Help is needed leaving out Horford and getting the block on jayen Brown at The Rim now let’s get back to his ability to cut and roll to the bucket then really just understand where to be our offense here he is with a great cut to the rim

As he’s playing the short corner he knows it’s cloged here so he relocates and is able to cut this is a weak finish but hopefully he will improve on this and then here he is cutting again off of a Chris Paul pick and roll again with CP3

He’s able to get there but misses what’s hopefully an easier finish as he gets more reps and then two Defenders go to steth which will happen nine times out of 10 so as long as he’s able to do this this should be creating buckets for him every game and then Steph again his

Gravity is too much and kyj D is able to make the defense pet and then here he is just cutting to the rim realizing that Defenders are around Moses moody this is just Instinct from a young player and then here he is rolling to the basket playing this time with Andrew Wiggins

And when Chris Paul is on the board with tjd it looks like this is going to be something that they look for because these two just have a connection and Clay as well is aware that if he’s running a pick and roll with tjd this is

An option and then the same action year with Clay understanding it this time he’s able to pass out of it for a bucket and one of the best things about TJ G as well watch him here crash for an offensive board and not give up on the

Play here he is again soaring in over DeAndre Aon making him look like the smaller player when really tjd is the 69 Center he missed this is the shot again hopefully some of these attempts around the rim become easier we listen to what Steph Curry had to say about how Trace

Jackson really belongs in this league and what he said to him earlier in the season he’s a leader of this team he’s a great guy to call your captain a great friend but at the same time he gives you confidence so I remember in some of the

Games I remember like earlier in the year he was like you belong here trace and that only when one of the best players ever says that to you that only builds your confidence so that’s huge I can’t imagine sethh Curry telling me you belong here that that you really cuz I

Was watching that man when I was 13 14 15 years old when I was St in high school so that’s insane how good do you guys think Trace Jackson Davis really is because the Warriors really haven’t had many formidable good big man in the Steph Curry era people are saying this

Is the best warriors big man that the team has drafted in two decades Steve cerr after TJ D’s performance against the Washington Wizards compared him to Andrew bogat what do you guys think of tjd so far do you guys think that Steve Kerr should have been playing him

Earlier do you guys think Steve Kerr should be playing him more now do you guys think the amount of minutes that he’s getting now is proper should he be around 20 minutes 25 30 minutes what should really be the case here because it looks like everybody on this team

Loves playing with him what he’s doing on the defensive end is something the team really needs what he’s doing on offense the way everybody’s playing right now is something that they could use as well just somebody who could finished plays simply understands positioning and as well he’s playing

More with King now if kaminga continues to learn how to handle the ball and pass which he seems to be doing better they could really come together to be able to survive the non Steph Curry minutes and not get killed which is where last year in the playoffs they were not even

Competitive in the minutes that Curry was off the floor during that Waker series if Kinga is somebody who can get 20 night and Trace Jackson is somebody who could catch the ball and make layups and make shots around the rim and Klay Thompson is not shooting terribly this

Team might be able to survive when Stephen Curry doesn’t score 45 points so let me know what you guys think in the comments if Trace Jackson Davis continues on this tear he also should start to get consideration on those rookie ladder things I know they like to

Post those a lot on Twitter and he should start sneaking into the top 5 to 10 rookie player ranking or whatever that is if he continues his play and impacting the Warriors let me know what you guys think in the comments thank you

  1. This young man was picked 57th overall, go figure. The Dubs got a STEAL with TJD. I hope he has a great career. Maybe, finally, the Warriors got the big man they have always been missing? Of course, Andrew Bogut was great.

  2. Kerr needs to play the young guys more. Green and Wiggins aren’t good anymore. Looney can’t finish. The original starting lineup has only 1.5 scorers. Not gonna win many games. Kumunga and TJD play above the rim and open up the floor for Curry and Klay

  3. It seems like Draymond's indefinite suspension is actually a blessing in disguise for the Warriors. It gave th younger guys an opportunity to show their talents and capabilities. Now there's no denying the fact that they need to be playing more minutes to have a positive impact on the team's championship aspirations this season.

  4. when healthy warriors have 12 very capable rotational players … come playoffs that’s 2 too many possibly even 3. Look for dunleavy to trade saric and moody and maybe a draft pick for a knock down 3 and D. Moody unfortunately is not shooting well enough

  5. C'mon Steve, the entire arena knew TJD was good and needed to be in the rotation from the 3rd game of the season. You've got to stop the loyalty crap and bench players slumping not named Steph.

  6. Kerr knows what he is doing. Kuminga and Moody, though very talented, were young and inexperienced. Kerr started them slowly. Pod and TJD clearly came in with more experience and are rounding into NBA level more quickly. Kerr has these 4 young guys hungry and surging. And Curry, Paul, Looney, and Thompson are mentoring them well. IMO, Kerr has done this correctly. He will increase their minutes as they earn them.

  7. TDJ has been excellent! Hope to see him get more minutes! He's been absolutely instrumental to shifting the momentum and knows how to make winning plays!

  8. Here we go. Again. The Warriors are about to mess up. Again. TJD is a NBA 4. They still need a 5. Why won't they draft a real 5? Small ball is over.

  9. Him, Jaquez Jr and Lively are the best players of this draft class. They just knows when/what/where to do things and be at. AAU is really ruining basketball.

  10. Just watched Portland at GSW and I’ve got to say the young talent is really entertaining. There’s joy in the game again.

  11. I’m from Indiana and have been watching Trace since he was in HS. I’m not surprised by his NBA game. It’s what kids from Indiana do. They play ball. His basketball IQ is high. Why? Because in Indiana your average pick up game at the park is challenging. Most kids start playing bb as soon as they can walk. It’s instinctual. When you have a guy that’s gone through the fires of Indiana HS hoops and he’s also 6’9”? It’s a problem for anyone trying to deal with him on the court.

  12. Perfect timing….get rid of Draymond…..not as good as the other guys….. attitude is EVERYTHING…he don't respect the game

  13. I don't know if he is gonna be a good player but I like how the guy runs after defense(running to offense for fastbreak), esp. after a block. He looks so composed.
