In this video, I’m going to show you how to hit a fade shot in golf. This is a great shot to use if you’re looking to have more control over your ball.
If you’re new to golf, or just want to improve your skills, then this is the video for you! I’ll demonstrate the fade shot step-by-step, so that you can learn how to hit it like a pro!
#golf #fade
How can I help you to hit a Fade and the reason you might want to hit a fade is to get away from maybe a draw or get away from a shot that overdraws and causes you a few issues there so we want to put some fade mechanisms in place to neutralize it or
Encourage you to work on the other side of the fence now the simple mechanics of a fade is that the ball starts to the left hand side and it curves to the right for a right hand golfer and what we need to happen for a fade is that we
Need the ball to start to the left hand side and this is where the face is aiming and we need the path to go left of that to encourage that side Spin and get the ball on Target and there’s a few things I can do in the swing to
Encourage that fade and encourage that movement of the golf ball but fundamentally I really really want to keep hold of a lot of rotation in the golf swing I don’t want to do too much slide and I don’t want to fall away from my sensor of gravity I want to stay on
The spot and I want to rotate so I want to keep that at the core of everything we look at here so when I go into a shot I start with the golf club Behind the ball first and I’m aiming the face where I want the ball to start so I’m aiming
This club face just left off center and then from that club face I then get comfy to the golf ball because the face is left my feet are now aiming to the left hand side as well now the main thing I’m going to look at here is that
I want to feel like or actually do this I want to feel like the grip is in front of the club head at impact if I get the grip in front of the club head at impacts the face is more open to the Target so with the grip in front I’ve
Got the ball fight starting to the right hand side I need to aim left even more so to get that to be starting left and coming back online if I put my hands behind the ball I shut the face quite a lot so I need to make sure I feel like
I’m getting really far ahead at impact to make sure this golf ball f Fades so I start with the face to the left I stand to the ball there I get to impact and I feel like my hands are staying ahead of the ball just like
That and I’ve got a tiny bit of movement there but my natural tendency is to overdraw the golf ball so I’ve neutralized it quite a lot and I’ve got a little bit of fade working in there I have to really overdo that feeling to make sure it gets a bigger fade now if
I’m hitting a fade to get rounded Target so say I’ve got a tree in the way and I want to move the ball loads to get round it there I’m going to overdo those feelings and I might even set up to the ball and open the face loads to make
Sure it’s got that glancing blow that gives it side spin so if I aim really far left I then need to get my body really really far left leaving the club where it is and I need to feel like my hands are ahead it impacts and then I get double
Whammy to get that big curve curvature on the golf ball that will certainly get round a lot of trees that I’m trying to do the ball will start where I aim the face mostly at impact so I’ve got the setup at a dress to encourage those
Factors now one thing to watch out for when we’re trying to get that grip in head of the golf ball is we got to watch out for the shank we don’t want that to creep into the game so there’s a little trick here just to make sure that
Doesn’t come in or if it does this is how you need to react quite often when I see golfers get their hands ahead of the ball it impacts and it’s a problem we tend to get a little bit Healy on the strike so the main thing I want to make
Sure there is that I’ve got enough room away from the golf ball to maneuver if I get a little bit too close to the ball and I keep my hands ahead that’s when the shanks might come in we can get rid of them straight away by just stepping
Away from the ball there’s a few different ways to sort of test how far away from the ball you are some people like to get a fist in this area here I like to make sure I’ve got three fingers from my kneecap here if I get too close
The club comes much higher up my leg I’ve got way more than three fingers there when I’m this close to the ball but those factors should help you get that ball starting left and moving back to the target with a nice tidy little fade if you like what you see here don’t forget

Freddie. Does the face being open increase loft and therefore apex? When i do hit a slight draw it seems to lower the flight somewhat. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.
Thanks very much Freddie! So the position of the handle is important in a fade or draw shot?
