Matt Moscona reacts to reports from The Athletic stating that Notre Dame is targeting LSU Offensive Coordinator Mike Denbrock

You found it your home for the best content on your favorite team the fighting tigers of LSU do us a favor subscribe to the channel leave your comments below and be sure smash that like Button there is a report from Pete Samson and Bruce Feldman over the at the athletic and if you’re not familiar Pete Samson has covered Notre Dame for a long time Bruce Felman of course is a national college football riter both at the athletic um and they are reporting

That Notre Dame is targeting LSU offensive coordinator Mike Den Brock to be their offensive coordinator the Tweet uh a bit ago from Bruce Feldman intriguing potential fit at Notre Dame for the vacant OC job bringing back LSU OC Mike Den Brock who ran the nation’s number one offense also his work with

The quarterback run game might fit well with Riley Leonard again that was Bruce Feldman earlier today here on Thursday now I know what a lot of you are thinking it’s going to it’s going to be Matt well did Mike Den Brock sign a contract extension with LSU no um so let

Me fill in what I know as of right now and again there’s been nothing from LSU there’s been nothing from Mike Den Brock uh I’ve pried a little bit today to try to find out what I can here here here are the here’s the bullet points and

What I can tell you about Dan Brock in this situation with Notre Dame okay uh number one let’s talk about den den Brock’s the new contract with LSU okay he initially signed a three-year deal with LSU just finishing year two um and it paid him in the mid ones I

Believe was one four five six as it escalated each year the contract the New Deal would make Mike Den Brock one of the highest paid coordinators in the country he was the offer from A&M reportedly would make him the highest paid coordinator in the country um Mike Dan Brock was up in

Arkansas for the brwals award that Monday Tuesday the the fifth and the the fourth and the 5ifth on the 6th Wednesday the 6th is when Den Brock and LSU agreed to their contract extension every contract must be approved by the Board of Supervisors before it can be signed and enacted well

The Board of Supervisors met on Fe excuse me on Friday December the 8th so only 2 days after there was not enough time to draft that contract get it looked over present it to the board the next board meeting isn’t until February 23rd at which point presumably Mike Den

Brock’s contract extension would come up for a vote it of course would be rubber stamped he’d sign it and then he would operate moving forward under his new deal but as of right now technically they have an agreement in principle a verbal agreement on a new deal but he

Has not signed his new contract because it has not yet been approved by the Board of Supervisors that won’t happen until February so that’s that’s an important note just when you talk about Mike Den Brock’s contract um the situation is something interesting as well so it’s worth mentioning Mike Den

Brock’s history at Notre Dame he had two different stints in South Bend uh in the mid 2000s uh early 2000s excuse me he was there from 02 uh from 02 to 04 he left and then returned with Brian Kelly in 2010 and was there from 10 to 16 so

Two different stints Mike Den Brock very familiar with Southbend he’s also from the state of Michigan his hometown is only about two hours from Southbend now Mike Den Brock has he has a wife and a young son his wife is from New York State um and his his son is Young and really

Only knows Cincinnati where Mike denrock was before he came to LSU so the family doesn’t really tie home to Michigan or that area but for Den Brock there’s a lot of of familiarity with Notre Dame and with with that area so there’s there’s that point of it that makes sense as well

Um so that so there is that tie right as well the real big question is one more sort of circumstantial piece is the agent for Mike Elco the new head coach at Texas A&M is the same agent that Marcus Freeman has at Notre Dame so the same agent that just negotiated on Mike

Den Brock’s behalf with A&M and ultimately Den Brock decided to stay at LSU is also familiar with those negotiations can talk to Freeman and sort of work the best deal by the way that’s what a good Agent does a good Agent is always seeking the best possible deal situation best possible

Contract for his or her client if you’re not doing that at all times then what are they paying you for you should always be seeking the best possible deal so this is a good Agent doing what a good Agent should do and I have no doubt also that Freeman would be interested

Remember there’s another tie mark Freeman when he was the defensive coordinator at Cincinnati under Luke fickle that was the same time that Mike Den Brock was the offensive coordinator at Cincinnati under Luke fickle so you can you can tell coaching is very incestuous and there are a lot of

Connective tissues here I would tell you this Mike Den Brock to Notre Dame makes infinitely more sense than Mike Den Brock to Texas A&M the A&M interest made sense because A&M was all in a now M now it is worth mentioning Mike Elco had been at Notre now Elco and den Brock did

Not overlap in Southbend Elco got to South Bend the year after Den the year Den Brock left so they did not overlap but there’s familiarity there obviously but what A&M was offering was to make Mike Den Brock the highest paid coordinator in college football and he

Turned that down to stay at LSU it’s hard to Fathom Notre Dame coming with a better offer than what I was told Texas A&M offered Mike Den Brock and clearly Den Brock took less to stay at LSU as I understand it the deal LSU gave him was

Not more than what A&M gave him it was just enough to incentivize him to stay with his lifelong friend Brian Kelly at a place where they’re building having success again his family is comfortable here there’s a lot of reasons why Den Brock was was eager to and or willing to stay at LSU

So what’s the what’s the differentiator that Notre Dame can offer that A&M couldn’t I don’t know again maybe it’s just the fact that Den Brock’s been in South Ben before his F you his hometown is close maybe that’s it but I’m this is purely speculative on my part I find that hard to

Believe listen until the Inc is dry on contracts and there’s a coach standing at a Podium these things are never done we’ve just seen it so many times and even there are times where coaches are standing at at a Podium remember the Alabama softball coach that that LSU had

Hired and then you know a day later goes back to Alabama Billy Donovan took the magic job then quit went back to Florida like sometimes even when you introduce the coach it’s still not done so it’s not done until it’s done but I and I’m willing to talk about this

Because it’s Bruce Feldman and Pete Samson Pete Samson’s covered Notre Dame forever and Bruce Feldman is a very reputable reporter so two very reputable sources at the athletic reporting that uh Notre Dame is targeting LSU offensive coordinator Mike Den Brock uh to be their new offensive coordinator so we

Will follow this we’ll see how it progresses but those are some of the factors at play here to see how this may all transpire hey thanks so much for watching please leave your comments I love to interact and be sure to hit the red subscribe button Below You you after

  1. That dude doesn’t have 50% of our offense success this year .
Like he made decisions on the fly for Daniels.
1000 yards of offense all to our quarterback.

  2. It’s ND! Not saying it will happen Rudy. Consider this – once a guy went to a JUCO next to ND to try to get into ND where his brother was. Couldn’t get in- went to LSU who was that guy You! 😢

  3. It's the same issue with Mike Denbrock as there was with Joe Brady. Can Denbrock coach an offense? yes Can any competent OC coach at LSU? Yes. People have been blinded by the Les Miles offense for almost 20 years now. If he wants to go to ND, let him go. Just don't hire Les Miles Jr to run the offense.

  4. The actual report was Mike Denbrock showed interest in the Notre Dame job. The truth is Denbrock reached out to Marcus Freeman (they coached at Cincinnati together). And it was announced today, Denbrock is coming back to Notre Dame.

  5. He is gone LSU didn't move fast enough. Always happens money talks. There goes the season next year. It's always a rebuilding year for LSU.

  6. Adios MD
Coming back home. No one likes Brian Kelly guys. We tried to tell you. ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

  7. Since Woody, and Les Kelly totally dissed all black coordinator hires, this is an opportunity to promote Frank Wilson to offensive coordinator.

  8. So Denbrock left for Notre Dame, not a big deal to me. Remember, Nick Saban changes coordinators like every two years, and Alabama is still winning. Plus, the offensive success of LSU this season had more to do with the talent than the coaching. That is why Denbrock parlayed that into getting the ND position. The problem is Riley Leonard is not Jayden Daniels, and what receivers at ND even come close to Nabers and Thomas Jr.????

  9. Denbrock is gone there’s the update. Honestly I don’t care. He’s going to Notre Dame to coach less then talent. Also I think him and Kelly had it out last season and in the beginning of this year. It’s sad but we need house gone he should have been gone in week 5. No one cares if denbrock left. Kelly is the Oline and TE master mind and they still have Joe Sloan. I dont think LSUs offense is going to be hurting at all. Maybe it will tilt into a more favorable scheme for Nuss as well.

  10. I love watching this guy try to convince himself it wasn’t going to end up this way. When someone turns down one job, doesn’t sign the contract extension with the current team it’s pretty obvious this would be the end result.

  11. He signed a new 3 year deal ……. On 6th December – why wasn’t the paperwork in place on the 8th….. i.e. if they really wanted him
