I’m ranking the best player irons of 2023 a common misconception about player irons is that you have to be a low handicap or a scratch golfer and that’s just not necessarily true there’s guys that I golf with that are like A8 cap or a 15 cap that play player irons and they get better results than say like a game

Improvement so if you think that you don’t qualify for a player’s iron that might not necessarily be true you guys might be interested to find out which one of these clubs wins because it could be a good club for you if you are new to

The channel the way that this works is I get 10 hits out of each club I’m testing we’re using a trackman a proving one RCT ball the elevation set about 3,400 ft because we’re filming in Calgary Alberta Canada and the first club I’m hitting is the tailor made p770 so let’s see what

Type of results we get with this guy buty how are you for this test I’m using the exact same shaft in every Club head the shaft is a NS Pro modus tour 120 xflex so there there will be no shaft variants I’m using the same shaft in every single one of these

Clubs it’s going high it’s a high seven iron first thoughts out of the gate with the p770 it looks really clean at a dress I like the finish that it’s kind of this like nice satin finish there’s hardly any Chrome I’m not a huge Chrome

Guy I find the Top Line actually looks a little thicker than I’m used to for a Player’s Club I’ll have to see how that compares to the others but it just seems like a little thicker Top Line which I don’t love but the results are speaking for themselves like a 200 yard carry

Seven iron all these irons are seven irons so this thing’s going a mile so far I am quite impressed with how these p770 is feel right out of the gate very solid up and down the face I’ve had a couple near the toe a couple near the heel overall the Forgiveness feels quite

Well and I find it just packs like a really solid punch so so far they feel really good okay that’s 10 hits let’s kind of go over the data on the p770 okay that session was actually really good super hot dispersion my normal shot shape with

A seven iron would be kind of just a high cut which it looks like nine out of 10 of these were I had one get away from me so that’s just the one I am going to be deleting my worst hit and my best hit the way that I’ll determine the best and

The worst is the worst will be the furthest offline the best will be probably the furthest and closest to the center line so let’s try to find out which of those I’m deleting so far looks like furest version was this guy so I will be deleting this which was like

That one pull the center line on the grid is going to be the solid line like right where these numbers are 200 210 I have one almost touching the line it’s five inches five inches right of the line so I’m going to say that’s my best

So these are my new averages I was averaging like 199 carry 205 total my normal seven iron right now is about 191 is carry to about 197 total so this p770 is hot so this this club is going very far and it was Landing it had a really

Good Landing angle to at 50° so it should be landing relatively soft it’s only rolling on average 6 yards so a seven iron from 200 yards with six yards of roll is actually pretty soft spin rate was about 6200 which is maybe just under ideal for me I’d like to be around

Like 6,500 even up to 7,000 so we’ll see how the other clubs compare on spin but overall I super happy with that session everything was in play I had really good dispersion so hot start for the tailor made will to see how the others compare next club I’m looking at is the Titus

T100 the player category is kind of an interesting category because it seems like each manufacture offers a couple options for a player Club some have like a CB or so a cavity back some have an MB a muscle back some have like a CB with tech so that’s similar to what this t00

Is there’s a bunch of options out there I’m considering doing maybe just a blade video for those guys that are really interested in blades but this right now is kind of the player category that I’m most comfortable with kind of like that player iron with some Tech so let’s see how the T100

Goes this T100 at a dress looks so much more what I’m used to because I play the t100’s this Top Line is a lot thinner so if I put it side by side to the tailor made the tailor made line is much thicker and I prefer looking at the top

Line of the T100 but if you prefer looking at a Top Line you might prefer the aesthetic of the tailor made that’s kind of just personal preference I’m a huge fan of how these sound and feel it’s very compact very similar to the p770 I find these to be like maybe

Just a little bit softer I would say that the tailor mates felt a little harder and the Titleist just feel just slightly softer a good finish so there’s only one degree in Loft difference overall a pretty good session with the T100 I noticed I had a few more go left on me

So I can look at my Tracer look at my dispersion and see that I had obviously a little bit more left so if I’m deleting my work first this guy was probably the furthest off line to the left and my best was this guy another

One just right on the line 6 in right of the line so we’ll delete that as my best couple things I’m noticing just comparing the tailor maid to the Titus really quick it looks like the tailor made had just slightly tighter dispersion I know guys that have hit the

P790s in the past might get like those jumpers so sometimes you’ll catch one super clean it goes like 20 yards further than normal I don’t see that big of a dispersion on the 770s this one was kind of just like a chunky hit this low one but everything else was like very

Consistent Titleist very same I had very consistent distance the gapping between my worst at like 192 total versus the highest to like only 10 yards in difference so for a player iron I would say that that’s really good forgiveness because you don’t want to be losing like

15 20 yards on a m hit on to the next one we’re going to hit mauno this is the mauno jpx 923 tour mauno has been killing it in all my iron reviews the last couple years but I haven’t tested the 923 tour so let’s see if this is

Living up to the hype of all the other Munos we’ve tested these are spinning a ton and going nowhere the top line on this mauno is very similar to the tius I just looked at kind of a thinner Top Line not as thick as the tailor made I like the

Satin finish it’s actually got a really cool finish I’m a fan of how it looks so far what I’m noticing is that it’s spinning a ton it’s spinning like 1,000 RPM higher than all the other clubs and it’s not going anywhere typically I am a high spinning player but I can’t believe

That already I’m losing like 20 yards compared to the other clubs yeah I remember loving those Pros the 923 Pro hot metal pros this is not a hot iron dispersion was really good I think that’s 10 hits with the mauno let’s take a look at the data so without looking at

Any of the data I’m certain that this was the shortest Club I’ve hit yet let’s take a look at all my tracers here dispersion looked pretty decent but High spin so the Titleist was only 66 tailor Mage 63 7,300 spin with the mauno so a th000 spin higher than the tailor made

Let’s look at dispersion cuz dispersion actually felt pretty good incredible consistent distance wise so my worst how far was this offline 51 ft yeah so this is my worst let’s delete that my best I found the line so far with all three clubs that’s pretty cool four inches so

So far this is actually the tightest club that I’ve hit yet by 2 in or one inch so here’s our new averages not going anywhere compared to the other two right so carrying 178 Titleist was 193 and tailor Ra was 198 so by far the shortest Club but it was very accurate I

Had a very small dispersion window so this is where you as a golfer would have to kind of weigh the pros and cons do I want to hit it further or have maybe tighter dispersion but hitting it shorter and some players need more spin like if you have very low spin and it’s

Coming low and you’re getting like 20 yards of roll you might want something like this GPX that’s going to spin higher and land softer so overall I like the club I think just because I was hitting the previous two like 190 to 200 I was a little let down in the distance

That I was getting out of the mauno up next is the Cobra this is the Cobra King tour what I find interesting about the King tour is that Cobra’s known for kind of some colors in their Club heads if you look at their Arrow jet lineup there’s like

Some blue some silver some carbon where the King tour is just like straight silver like the majority of player irons really have like this clean look and I find this to be one of the cleanest looking irons in the Cobra lineup that’s just my own personal preference Top Line

We’re getting a little bit thicker we’re getting closer to the visual aesthetic of the tailor made but I really enjoy looking down at this this looks like a legit Players Club so let’s give it some hits hello feel wise I would say that these feel just as heavy as the tailor Maids

The Titus the Muno felt maybe a little bit lighter and I think the head shape is a little bit more compact but these feel very comparable to everything that I’ve hit so far really good session of of those cobras let’s look at some numbers that was awesome guys really

Really good session out of the cobra look at those tracers I would say so far my best tracers have been the tailor made but Cobra’s keeping up and by the time I delete my best and my worst it’s going to get even tighter this is awesome this is awesome okay let’s get

Rid of the worst furthest off line I believe to be this guy best one oh we didn’t touch the line first time we haven’t touched the line so one foot one foot still pretty tight so we’ll delete this one what I do notice though is this really tight collection of one two three

Four five all within a couple yards of each other super tight had a couple get away from me left a couple hot ones but I am really happy with the dispersions we’ll take a look at that compared to mauno compared to Titleist compared to tailor made it’s by

Far the smallest dispersion Circle so that’s really cool to see out of Cobra th those performed awesome felt great looked great this is going to be a club to to compete with this year my averages as average carrying 199 versus the Muna 179 so 20 yards difference in a seven

Iron average between the Cobra and the Mauna we knew the mauno was the shortest there is two Dees and L difference between the Cobra and the mauno Muno was 34° Cobra is 32° but 20 yard gapping between seven irons is actually nuts and Titus is keeping up with the distance

Tailor’s keeping up with the distance so far just that jpx from Muno is just way shorter than everything spin wise has about 6,300 which is pretty comparable to 66 63 out the tailor made so I’d say so far the the Cobra and the tailor made seem to be in a really close competition

Tiess is right there these are all really good and the still had tight dispersion right so we got a couple more clubs let’s keep it rolling a little bit better than Brad’s dispersion yeah if you guys saw my last video with my buddy Brent when we were testing the high

Handicapper game improvement irons these uh tracers might look a little bit different maybe Felix you can put up my Tracer beside some of Brent’s tracers just to see see the difference but guys go easy on Brent he’s new to the channel he’s relatively new to golf he loves it

But like all of us we get all improve I get improved Bren could improve so maybe we’ll have him back on thean Channel and see if we can help uh get his golf game just a little bit tighter okay next up is the next up we got the

Ping this is the Ping i59 forged couple things I noticed right away when I put it down at a dress it looks the smallest and I think it’s because it has one feature that none of the other clubs have it has this white line on the bottom so this white line is actually

Smaller than the grooves itself which I think visually makes the club look smaller so I’m going to be interested to see if I have more or less M hits maybe just because subconsciously I’m thinking that this is a smaller Club head even though I know that it’s not but with it

Being the only club that has this white line I just don’t love the look of it just solely based on this line and some of you guys might like that white line so that’s totally personal preference but let’s let the numbers speak for themselves feel wise they actually do

Feel pretty good up and down the face I find it to be like just a little bit more clicky I think the other ones felt softer where this is more of like a firm hard face just a little clicky I’d say it feels very comparable to the mauno I

Would say the head shape is maybe a little similar I’m getting a lot of spin it’s not going as far so I’m going to categorize these just closer to the mauno so far based on kind of the performance and feel pretty good dispersion let’s take a

Look at all those uh hits so I started to like the Ping the more that I hit them the first couple took some getting used to but as I got into my session actually really good and the dispersion was awesome let’s look at these incredibly consistent right I could

Probably aim just a little bit further left but where is my I didn’t have as many close to the line so I had kind of a bleedy cut so I don’t know if maybe it has something to do with the head weight but I was consistently on the right half

Of the Fairway which I guess is a good takeaway but like I can’t I can’t really even find a worst like what’s the worst 40 feet offline 41 someone in the comments was saying that I should consider the worst to be the first for this offline but 40 ft and

Way shorter let’s do that it’s only 8 in in difference but it was way shorter so let’s delete this one I read those comments some of you might think I don’t read the comments I read every single comment if you want to talk to me like

Hit me up in the comment section so that was this one which was my first hit so that makes sense is why didn’t like it and my best I didn’t have any that close to the line my best was only eight feet off the center line where I’ve had a lot

That were touching the line what I could do with these ping is I could bend the toe up and get them probably a little closer to the center line so these are actually competing ping visually I didn’t like love the look of it but like it was performing really well so we

Noticed that the spin was up so 7,000 spin mauno was 7400 wasn’t spinning as much as the mauno and it was going a little further so average carry 186 Mauna was 179 191 total 184 total with Muno but that compared to the Cobra still 13 yards difference in carry

This is going to be really tough actually to rank all of these I think there’s not one club that I’ve hit that I’m like that I would count out like realistically so far out of everything I’ve hit I would play all of these clubs I know when I was testing like game

Improvement irons there were some that I thought were clear winners and others that I thought were automatically on the bottom of the list right now I can’t tell you the worst performing club which is crazy so that’s why I take other things into consideration like looks feel sound price there’s a lot

That goes into how I would choose irons and I think that’s how you guys would do it too so to get the data plus my own personal preference that’s how I’ll rank them and I still have one more club to go the last Club is the Srixon Srixon won my

Game improvement category so let’s see how it competes in the player category guys last up is the strion ZX7 Mark I I know a lot of you are thinking that I probably missed some manufacturers in this video that’s either because I couldn’t get them to this fitting

Facility so like Wilson I couldn’t get tours Edge I couldn’t get pxg I couldn’t get and there’s a lot of new director consumer Brands so I’m actually going to be doing a review video on director consumer Brands only so that’s going to be a separate video if you are new here

Or if you’ve seen my videos before and you haven’t subscribed now’s a really good time to hit subscribe looking at the STX on from a dress it has another thick Top Line similar to the tailor maid I’ve told you guys I’m just not a

Huge fan of that but I like the club how it looks overall looks really cool and strion has that kind of funky sole that there’s two edges so it makes it just a little bit more forgiving with the turf interaction looks really good looks compact let’s see how we hit it buttery low

Spin feel- wise they feel just as good as everything else I’ve hit I’d rank it I I can’t rank one Club higher than the other feel wise they all feel really really good and really really similar like I can’t believe how competitive this category is guys that wraps up the hit let’s do

All the data comparison and uh let’s find a winner guys awesome session with the Srixon ZX7 Mark I reminds me a lot of my tailor mate session I had one outlier to the left as you can see with my shot Tracer oh my God bro look how

tight that is okay this guy I got to delete Srixon is killing it dude my best how close was I to the line 4 feet 3 feet 8 feet this guy right here that’s my best really good dispersion like really good four just on either side of the center line

Incredibly consistent distance so let’s compare this I’m just thinking off top of my head this reminded me a lot of the tailor made so tailor made had that one outlier that’s making the Circle A Lot B bigger if I got one over the 200 Mark it’d be even tighter but really really

Close carry 197 198 with the tailor made 205 205 so like very very very comparable to the tailor Maids Landing angle coming in at 48° again one degree difference between that and tailor made ping was coming in softer Cobra was there at 49 mauno was 50 I have a landing angle

Variance of only like two degrees from the Srixon coming in the shallowest to like the mauno coming in at 50 so it’s actually not that big of a differ so here’s what I did I put up all the dispersion of the clubs clubs that I just hit so really the smaller the

Circle are oval the tighter it’s been right so Cobra super tight Srixon super tight even the mauno was pretty tight and we’re getting bigger into the the tailor M’s like dying just because of this one and I deleted my best and my worst right so if this one ball was

Closer up here I think it would be like almost a clear winner I’m going to have to do some self-reflection to find out how I’m going to rank these from 6 to 1 so give me a little bit and let let me find a winner for you

Guys okay I met with Jeremy Mar who’s the head fitting professional at modern golf for him to help walk me through the clubs that he would pick for me just because they were all so close that I didn’t really know how to rank all these so in Consulting with Jeremy and going

Off my personal preference plus the data looks feel sound this is how I’m ranking them coming in the six spot is the mauno jpx 923 they were way too high spinning for me I couldn’t afford to have that high of a spinning Club lost a lot of distance the dispersion was still pretty

Decent but I just can’t be playing an iron with that high of spin next up is the most expensive Club you can buy out of these six and that’s the Ping i59 pings were the only club that I would have to adjust the heads I’d have to

Bend them upright to get them closer to the center line I didn’t have to do that with any of the other clubs so I’m putting ping in the fifth spot only because it just didn’t perform as close to the line as the other ones above it

Next up is the is the Titus T 100 and that pains me because that’s the current Club in my bag I like how they look I like how they feel I like how they sound but the dispersion was just nowhere close to its competitors these next three I would confidently play all three

Of them this was the hardest ranking that I had to come up with in the three spot is going to be the cobras the Cobras were actually the most affordable coming in only like 228 per Club Canadian they felt really good they looked really good they sounded really

Good but the dispersion I had just a couple go left on me where the next two were even more consistent coming in the two spot is the Srixon ZX7 Mark I I had an incredibly consistent ball flight very consistent dispersion they look good they felt good and they are priced

Pretty decent 235 Canadian a club really like the Srixon again really high performing out of them that means in the one spot is the tailor made p770 this was my first session they felt great great looked great sounding great and my dispersion was incredibly consistent I

Had a nice high cut with every single one of my swings that makes them a predictable Club felt good looked good sounded good feel good there was a lot going for the tailor maid keep in mind all six of these clubs that I tested were awesome I could easily dial all six

Of these clubs down into a club that I would play myself but based on everything kind of just stock option this is what felt the best for me thanks so much for watching this video I hope you guys learned something and we’ll check in with you guys next time

  1. Great review How do Pxg gen 5 irons compare or how are they if you’ve hit them. Thank you. Never mind. Just heard your comment on DTC irons

  2. I switched from the apex 21’s to the jpx 923 and yeah I gotta agree the mizunos feel great but they spin a lot. Perfect for me tho they stop on a dime 😅

  3. Surprised you got lower spin out of the ZX7s. I play them and had to get them bent down because I was getting 8000 RPM of spin with a 7 iron, and I have slightly slower swing speed than you.

  4. Thanks for the video.

I purchased the T100s several years ago from Modern Golf. It was a great fitting experience and love my irons.

    ⛳️🏌🏿‍♂️

  5. I’m a little surprised you used the 770 instead of the P7MC for this test – I don’t really see the 770 as a players’ club, but in the players’ distance category.

  6. Great comparison test. I’m not so sold on eliminating the worst shot and the best shot. if that’s the case, you might as well leave them both in because they’ll average out. I think eliminating your worst shot is a better way to go.
Based on the results are you going into the P770’s?

  7. No shock with #1 and 2…consistently been high performers for everyone…but would loved to have seen the p7mc in there because it's similar technology…p770 should have been toughest as it has the most tech and forgiveness…glad to see everything else keeping up though!

  8. I swear I haven’t found 1 player that spins 923 tours less than 7000. Hopefully they bring a “T150” or power spec version of that club next year when the 925 cycle comes.

  9. Love these comparison videos but when you said “firm, hard face and clicky, comparable to the Mizuno,” I almost spit out my drink! I’ve never heard a Mizuno described as that. Still a fan of your channel but you’re on thin ice bud. 😂

  10. Hollow body vs 1 piece forged, or cast, and the hollow body is easier to keep straight and goes further. Imagine that.

  11. Swing speed between Taylormade and Mizuno were 2+ mph different. So yeah the Mizuno's spun more and flew shorter but you also swung the Mizuno's slower too.

  12. Love the look of the King Tours. They will be my next irons, on paper I technically shouldn’t be playing them but I’ve never been a fan of how people give club types a handicap range. Play what you want

  13. My fitting yesterday i ended up with t150s. I hit everything in the store minus Wilson. And now i have to wait for them to get here. My soul is dying inside. 😂

  14. Seeing as sound is a major part of the feel, (just like smell does to taste), indoor “feel” is really hard to distinguish. Always hit a club outside for accurate feel

  15. 2nd video I have seen of yours following the session with Brent and find these very helpful and informative, especially as I will be buying new clubs soon after using Mizunos for the last 8 years! I wonder if you should have also tested a wedge and say, 3/4 iron to get a definitive winner rather than just based on a 7? I'm definitely goin gto try the Cobra & Srixon based on this!

  16. I know P770 can sometimes be included in players iron category but I personally don’t like to…the top line is too chunky, has tech and just looks like Players distance…I’d consider P7MC as players irons for TM

  17. T150's would have performed well in this test and gave the 770's and ZX7 MKII's a run for the top spot
