4 IRON VS 4 HYBRID | WHAT THE NUMBERS SAY

Today, I look at a club that was one of my favorites back in the day, the trusty 4 iron. Now I have gone to hybrids like most slow swing players. We look at the benefits of the hybrid. What will the difference be? I hope you enjoy!

Hey guys Mr sh hitter here I did a video recently on a seven Wood versus a three hybrid I want to kind of stick to this topic a little bit and do another video on something that I used to hit really good which is four iron versus four

Hybrid like many golfers I went down that road of switching three iron I went to three hybrid four iron four hybrid so on and so forth all the way to now at this point I go back and forth between a six iron and a six hybrid right now the

Six hybrid is in my bag last time I brought these Tacomo irons out you can check that video out a few people said maybe you should consider putting that four iron in the bag or at least the five iron I did hit this club pretty good with The Descent angle and

The launch would have been tough to hold a green with the four iron I already know from the rough I’m going to hit that four hybrid better than I’m going to hit this four iron 159 yard launch angle 12.7 Apex height of only 46 ft 170 y 14.7 launch 62 Apex height

169 y that one was struck pretty good 13.4 launch Apex height of 54 ft 1604 y 164 carry 13.0 launch 50 ft Apex height not getting up too high that’s for sure definitely would have trouble holding the green so let’s hit four hybrids and see what we get I think 170

Carry was the best with that four iron 74 yard we’re already up 174 carry 15.4 launch 71 F Apex height that was low7 yard that was probably the lowest one Apex hype 50 feet launch angle 12.3 I hit that one really really thin can imagine what that would have been with the four

Iron 71 yard another one a little thin 14.6 launch 65 feet height 173 yards 173 14.9 launch 65 foot Apex height ball speed was up to 115 there I want to get about six solid shots with four iron and with four hybrid just to show you the difference in flight and

Some of the things that that you could expect at my club speed I may swing a little bit slower right now I’m kind of tight indoors generally I would probably expect to carry the 4 hybrid 170 175 somewhere in there and also let me know if you guys like me actually showing

Some of the shots inside a lot of times I leave it out because I don’t want to bore you guys to death we actually hit the first shot with the four iron and the first shot with the four hybrid work were the worst shots there and I apologize for not getting

The ball in the shot I just I didn’t want to refill it after I noticed that but I think these shots are pretty representative of what I would do with each of these clubs so I switched back and forth I hit a few four irons then I hit a few four hybrids

And then I switched back and and did it again I didn’t want to get in like a Groove with one club and just hit it hit six really good shots or really poor shots we’re hitting kind of similar ball flight with each Club little fades for

The most part we just kind of straight right leaving them out there think that was was the only shot that I really hit a Draw okay guys well looking at these numbers we can see we had 6 mph more ball speed with the four hybrid the launch angle 1.6 de higher 1,200 RPM more spin 13 yards on the carry mainly due to the difference in ball speed there nine more yards on the total

Because the four iron rolled out more The Descent 40° with the four hybrid versus 32 with the four iron so really you’ve got a club that’s coming in 8° steeper descent if you get a firm green that’s going to be the difference between a ball hitting and staying on

The green versus just rocketing off the back of the green so that’s obviously the biggest reason for me to hit a four hybrid versus a four iron 23 yards versus 16 yards of height so again that’s why the descent is so much steeper also so one thing I want to say

The differences between the clubs obviously the hybrid has a graphite shaft graphite shaft’s going to be a little bit lighter the four iron has 202° of Loft versus the four hybrid that has 22° of Loft and the four hybrid is about 2 in longer so you would expect

The four hybrid to go a little further than the four iron from the length but the Loft Advantage for iron if you could swing fast enough to keep that ball in the air and get the the RPM so I’m thinking of doing another one of these

Videos maybe compare the four iron to a five hybrid and see the differences in distance there or any other club that you guys want me to compare all right guys I hope you enjoyed the video make sure to leave down in the comments any clubs you want to see me compare and if

You haven’t yet got the chance to see the 7w versus 3 hybrid video you can click the link to my left if you like the video like comment subscribe until next time Mr sh hitter out more greens my gam OB seen now hooks

In Big F it’s not my day now why did I P now

  1. I just grip down on my hy wood a bit to get this distance. It allows me to carry an extra wedge. But I do think the old 4i is becoming obsolete.

  2. You can have my 4 iron when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

I do have a 3 hybrid though thar I only use on special ocasions

  3. Inside shots are helpful. Maybe not watching them all, but the shot trackers for sure helps put the numbers into context.

  4. Good video. 5 hybrid would be closer to the 4 iron as you said. For me, the dispersion would be the deciding factor. I can hit 4 irons pretty high and a bit straighter than my 23 degree hybrid.

  5. I've tried and I've tried and I can't hit them, they are to closed for me.I'm 60 and still hit a 2 iron. I want so bad to be able to hit hybrids. Those are the irons I game. PS, does that ball travel further with the 4 iron, bigger run?

  6. I just got a paradym X 6 & 5 hybrid. I took out my 6 & 5 irons. I will hold more greens because of the higher descent angle & I also get greater distance out of the two. No more long irons for me. It’s a no brainer 👍

  7. I currently use a Calloway X-hot 7wd as my 4i, and I love it. It’s basically my 170-180 club. If you don’t mind, which voice monitor do you use?

  8. Great Video as usual …. Very helpful video as well, I’m 51 and have been really thinking about getting rid of my 3i & 4i and switching to Hybirds… just not totally ready I guess but will definitely be looking… keep up the awesome content
