The most FRUSTRATING shot in golf…
This drill provides a skill-based way to move your strike location away from the heel (as long as it’s set up correctly). Avoid the alignment stick at all costs!
A few MECHANICAL REASONS you may have a heel-biased pattern:
🔹 You have a wide open clubface in the downswing. When the face is super open, it’s easy to lead with the heel.
🔹 You EARLY EXTEND and your hips move toward the ball. A subconscious effort to find “space” moves your hands out away from you through impact, and your club moves out away with them, exposing the heel.
🔹 You have a FLAT swing plane and the club works too far inside out. If you swing too severely from the inside, it’s easy to strike the heel.
Again this drill is a SKILL BASED technique to move your strike. I’d look for a mechanical deficiency before trying this drill, but regardless, it’s an excellent skill to have!
