That handicap handicap I don’t even know that I I I haven’t got to that level what is that how do you by the way how do you get a handicap how do you man you got to put in 20 scores so keep your score 20 times the better

The the the the you want your handicap higher not lower because if you’re gambling you get strokes so it’s a way that if Jr’s a three handicap you’re a 23 handicap he’s got to give you eight 20 Strokes or whatever so if you get to stroke a hole and on the three hardest

Holes you get two strokes those holes so way y’all can gamble each other okay so I was talking to Will on the drive range earlier and I told the wave God yeah yeah smashing it yeah so I I told him I hit a 86 he said oh you’re probably a a

15 tell him I’m a 30 tell him I’m a 30 he’s a plus [ __ ] five he’s a plus five you’re a 30 so you get 35 Strokes which pretty much means you get two strokes a whole and you have a hard time beating him wow I mean he’s one you know

The dude made like $7 million on the PGA tour Willie Willcox he’ll be on the show in a minute but he’s uh he’s now cading for sunj which is one of the better Korean golfers yeah so s jam and so he he uh he went through the

The the FedEx Cup and all that with sunj and made a bunch of money there but he’s like one of the most talented uh you see him strike the ball he just he hits this little left low follow through like he hits it he he’s like here closes think

About letting that [ __ ] touch his neck so what you’re saying is he told me I was a 15 he tried to hustle me Bas if you give me yeah basically you’re not a 15 yeah you’re not a 15 right all right yeah you want to be your handicap and

This is for all of you out there you don’t want to be a sandbagger but you want to almost be a sandbagger correct I mean yeah the app is the you put them in the app takes the scores the app will tell you what you really are I think

When we I’m like a 31 right now 31 or 3-2 so I’m a four he’s a three so we’re all pry when we play together it’s tight bro we play he’s member lak side and we play at Lakeside a bunch and it’s it’s a time

But we have a good time we have a good not only do we have a good time but it’s compe he’s he’s a good player he’s true to his handicap he never going to inflate his number to where you’re not going to have a good game and you know cuz there are

Some guys who do that there’s a couple of guys we won’t mention any weon any there’s always a couple of guys that everyone’s like I’m not playing with that dude yeah also like we and then the other side of it is know what you’re playing

For as big advice for any golfer I’m out I was out at Sherwood and you know like these other dudes they had their own game and I I just playing whatever they wanted me to play play and he’s like all right so you know they were pressing we

Pushed we doubled you know and all this and then by the third third hole I’m not paying attention we’re hanging out and I make a put he’s like man as good as like we’re $6,800 I was like what going on I was like what’s going on third hole 6800

I’m I got to go check my car real fast that’s when you just fake a heart attack kids I think my kids I got to go I was like no thanks my right out get an ambulance I’m not trying like well I grew up as a a skateboarder and there’s

So many uh similarities to skating and and and golfing and I didn’t have a hang before golf came into my life now I’m obsessed with it but I didn’t really have a hang it was like the bar or the studio or a show or whatever or yeah it

Was that that was it you know I didn’t have a hang anymore cuz I wasn’t active skating as like I used to be and it gave me a whole new hang with the with my friends you know some [ __ ] to do like talk [ __ ] get out there and learn

Something but I I I was playing with some real players out the gate you know what I mean so I would spend like the first year I would do like 36 holes a day seriously for like six days a week sometimes I would just go out by myself

And try to figure it out and I’m obviously we’ll be trying to figure it out for the rest of my life but sure um yeah it’s it’s been nothing better yeah nothing nothing better it’s great it’s great so before we let you guys hit your shots could we invite the chef in real

Broke when I first moved to LA I didn’t have money and even mun courses in La they were two packed into two pricey for me so then I started up again in my young 30s now they pay you to play we’re out here we’re doing our good to see

See it in person and the thing I learned from playing with you out of pebble a couple days and we played The Preserve a couple days whatever J I think I even told you that at the at The Preserve when I hit the ball in a real [ __ ] up

Spot I’m just thinking like I can just do my best to make par bogey just don’t make a [ __ ] double I’m like I’ll just take the bogy and get the [ __ ] out of there this Maniac is 100% still going for birdie it doesn’t it’s not a thought

Of a bogey it’s I’m I’m going to hit a five iron snap hook around that tree and it’s going to be a [ __ ] zipper and when it hits the Fairway it’s going to run up to the green I’m going to make 8 foot Putt and still make birdie I’m not

Out of this hole I think I think it’s better to hit the ball like [ __ ] and get it in the hole quicker I think that makes people’s heads a little twisted uh I like I like being able to sevy bioer it around you know I you find that good

Stuff for a while but it’s it’s more fun to um spray it and still get it in the hole you know so that’s and that’s what makes a golfer great and not that I’m saying I’m great I mean I C for one of the greatest golfers in the world but U

Certainly when uh it’s it’s more fun to make a super nasty uh par than just hit it to 6 feet and miss it right like I’d rather spray it punch it out wedge it to 10 ft make that that’s fun that breaks your opponent’s heart absolutely absolutely that’s that’s what makes you

A complete player when you do that like do you do you is it more shot or like is it more PL playing or is it more like range and shaping it and trying to figure it out like that it’s just nice when you hit a less than perfect shot to

Know that the ball’s still in play that brings you excitement and happiness um but I would say that uh to know that you don’t have your best stuff and still be able to get it in the hole um things like that it’s it’s about you know figuring out the best information

Possible going in I caddy for sun Jay so like I think about [ __ ] very intensely so I like to aim at the most safe spot make an aggressive swing to that and also the wind see what that’s doing but I think make an aggressive swing on a

Conservative line and see what that see what that does do you learn that in practice or actually like playing rounds um a little bit of everything I mean I’ve been playing for such a long time and uh [ __ ] I’ve probably played a Million rounds of golf so uh every swing

That I make I learn something I think still oh yeah oh absolutely yeah I learn more now that I’m not as naive as I was as a kid I started playing when I was 6 I’m 37 so like obviously I’m Wiser if you will and so that makes uh things a

Little more exciting to learn [ __ ] and playing with Willie like you know Willie respectfully hit some really [ __ ] horrible shots right absolutely I mean you could blow one right whatever but it it that’s when you see it like turn on where he’s like I just hit that

[ __ ] [ __ ] 50 yard right of where I was aiming I’m in the woods this and still make PA birdie clutch up time and so he’s been playing since he was six when did you start uh probably like two years ago now two years ago yeah ripping

Got into it from a homie uh Brad but like growing up uh a good friend of mine Gage fio his grandfather you know uh Tom Tom no big deal I would go to the range with him like while whatever be hitting balls I never you know picked it up and

Then now just like yeah I’m he hits a nice ball he’s hit a couple like two like hold fades for sure hold for two years in it’s been like more impressive than I would have expected I mean it’s some bombs for so you probably played till like what 10 15 yeah probably like

15 20 maybe I haven’t like taken a handicap or whatever he’s been right up there with on the tea a couple times so it’s been you know pretty impressive apprciate for a skater I’m just I’m just out here you know having fun just taking it all in right I was gonna say what’s

Your favorite part about the game um I feel like just the the Thrive of like you know you were saying of the you know you may put it in a bad place but just that that next opportunity man you know chall and I come from skating so it’s

Like really challenging as far as you know no one’s going to sit there and tell me right I got to put my feet here or do this or that so it’s just all the little things just factoring in and just being able to just let it also as an

Adult man what are you going to do play pickle ball what’s the move I think golf I think golf’s the play yeah and and then just just just being on the course outside too you know yeah making the connections hit like hanging out with the homies and stuff and just just

Chilling exactly Steven and the boys have done is pretty impressive to make golf cool again cuz it was lame when I started turning when I turned Pro in 2009 it was very waspy Yeah it’s gotten nice that everything’s gotten more exciting and um inclusive everybody’s having fun hell yeah what uh what kept

You in the game like obviously golf is hard as [ __ ] and you start at such a young age and I you know at a kids a lot of kids are fearless and they just swing at it and you know see what happens but when you’re competing and and trying to

Be you know one of the best like what what professionally yeah um I mean just uh well I got paired with a couple guys that I thought were pretty damn good and I was able to beat them and I mean I had some success and uh I kept moving up the

Levels and it’s just like obviously you’ve had success at a high level in sports and you just keep rolling with it keep rolling with it all right I guess I can beat them then I’m in the top top 10 this level and whatever so and then I

Had backing that was huge but also my mom taught me how to play at a young age and I’m not very smart um so like I didn’t graduate from college I don’t have [ __ ] else to do so I’m going to stick to golf you better play well or

Better better trying to payent give me the good snacks so so what about SJ yeah is it special athlete um I’m I’ll see him in Maui in two weeks and uh we’re going to play I think on New Year’s Eve at kaaloa and he’s pretty damn good at

Golf so we’ll see I mean he’s been he he hasn’t fired me through nine events and uh I hope that I can make it to the Masters cuz we can all go yeah how bet you have a hook up historically he’s been known to fire caddies every six

Weeks pretty much yeah I had an ex caddy has say to me the other day at RSM because I’m catting for Ryan Gerard and the finals rout for Ryan Gerard of qo and uh somebody goes well you know you’re going to get fired when you missed the first cut I was like we

Missed a cut in July I’m still here you know like I mean I’m good I think he has a bad perspective and I have a better one CU you have to um take ownership with SJ they have a different culture than ours and he’s a special athlete and

I got to know that I’m the subordinate and uh I’m just happy to be there respect that unbelievable what about the the things I’ve asked some of the like you know MOS and cins of them have been on the show but I find it interesting on

Like when you’re doing a hard trick in skateboarding you know it’s very technical and it’s it’s the instinct is to stiffen up in the middle of you know a big going if you’re doing like a jumping off stairs or some [ __ ] but obviously if you stiffen up it’s going

To be a disaster and it’s very similar to the golf swing where if you you know rip the handle and tighten up in the middle of the Swing you know you’re going to top it or block it or whatever the [ __ ] is it do you feel the

Similarities of trying to stay loose and in the two different moves of a golf swing or a skate trick for sure cuz like yeah you know as far as aspects of I mean I feel like bailing you know in the sense of like balance too right yeah

Balance but like bailing if you lock up it you know you then boom rather than if you kind of just let it you know be with it rather than you know just like in a shot you you load up and then you boom just flush through it so I feel like in

The sense of yeah I just kind of just take that yeah it can’t be tense and just take that and just kind of just go with it you just got a lot more to lose jumping off at 30 steps than you do I feel like yeah I feel like the body

Is able to kind of just like yeah just do a thingz it’s it’s just like I’m already in the flow right so I didn’t think about that like y’all are lowkey cheating cuz y’all know y’all body and then know when the tense up and when

Know when how to let that [ __ ] go but then it’s like over the golf ball though it’s like a total different thing right cuz in your head you’re telling yourself all these type of things where if you just simple it up right and just focus

On one or two things and then boom just let it flow it’s just I don’t know we we we trick ourselves right and swing within yourself yeah right that’s one thing I feel like for me is like being so tall and being quote unquote basically a strong fell I mean

Basically strong boy but for me there A lot of times where I realize where like where my swing goes to [ __ ] is when my balance is off and for for y’all I feel like you’re balanc in your feet you can you’re able to feel it much more cuz

Obviously the board is moving on whichever Type of Way in the swing you know you sometimes when you load it’s on your back foot and then you come through you’re on your front foot on the to and it’s like that’s true and I was thinking about that from a board standpoint I

Feel like you guys have the best stability aspect of the Swing more than anybody yeah yeah I mean I feel like I’m still it’s still getting there so 100% I mean you’re still two years in so you got you got plenty of it’s like what how long have you been playing forever and

How old are you 47 you said what7 37 and then how old are you CH 38 and how and how long 15 years so it’s like sophomore in college you is your baby I’m 24 yeah imagine when you’re I started skating at 4 so i’ I’ve been

Skating for 20 years so it’s like imagine if I put all that effort and just time into you know something else the same thing my God for you bro he’s going to make a move in the Celebrity Game and just cruise I like that champion tour starts at 50 you know

What I mean go make a little Q school for yeah the the the 50 and UPS you went to uh you went back to school for golf yeah yeah it’s amazing so much fun uh cool experience team is incredibly good now like when I started we were okay but

Now like we got like a couple Juniors uh sophomore junior transfers and from other schools that like one or two at their schools so our team has gotten a lot better and competitive um we started off when I was there we had five guys now we got nine so it’s get good it’s

Getting really competitive and just the camaraderie of it for me is what I really was seeking because actually obviously leaving basketball is a team sport and golf is so much introspective and and more such as individual Sport and then to be back on a team and being

Able to bounce ideas off people and what do you feel in this swing or how do you play this shot stuff get better together yeah you try to get better together opposed to trying to figure it out on your own and for me a lot of that is

Where I feel like my learning curve has come cuz I learned a lot by visually watching other people and talking to other people who are actually doing it like it’s it was always harder for me with coaches because a lot of the coaches especially when when I was

Coming out now it’s a lot better now now but when I was coming out a lot of the coaches didn’t play it was either video coordinator guys who weren’t talented enough to play but knew the X’s and O’s and stuff like that so they weren’t able

To translate the game to me the same and I couldn’t really respect their opinion because you didn’t do it at this level you didn’t you don’t know what I’m what I’m talking about so when I you know for me when I when I’m playing against or playing with or other people who are

Actually trying to get good at this game or who are actually good at this game and trying to seek Higher Goals I I I feel as though I Thrive way more in learning just how to pursue my swing better cuz everybody’s swing is different how you add the yeah 100% it’s

If you can if you if you’re the best in in who you play around or you’re the best in what you do and who you’re around and you’re in the wrong crowd to me if I got to be around people who are better than me who are striving to do

More and be better so for me being around in a team aspect it was way bigger than me just playing little money games with my boys and picking up five Footers cuz the guys giving me when you got to putt everything out and you got

To know you hit it OB you got to go back to the team R and like when you playing like that it’s it gives you a completely different perspective of the game and just how to how to play the game mhm he way more focused that being said we’re
