Hello and welcome to the MMA Mike trop podcast this is episode number seven my name is Jade bukey and I’m joined by the one and only Milo McGregor who for some reason continues to do well with his MMA predictions having gone 8 and3 for UFC
296 in this episode we are going to talk about everything that went down at UFC 296 both inside and outside of the cage within this context we’re also going to talk about what fights to make next so buckle up we have a lot to discuss so
It’s interesting um when we look at UFC 296 um despite a lackluster performance in the main event between Edwards and Co um Kobe Covington the overall fight card was still pretty good Milo how would you grade this entire fight card given that the main event was a bit
Lackluster um I’m gonna give an A minus for both just because like the very Main Event just kind of like put it down for me a little bit but it overall was a super good card yeah yeah it was fun so for you it was firing on all cylinders
Just until that um till that last fight right yeah it was it was like every single fight was almost a knockout and then that fight was like pretty lame there wasn’t a lot going on so yeah yeah and and we’re going to get into that
Fight in a moment and yeah in terms of My overall grade I pre-ad it I you know given the strength of the card and my level of excitement as an eight plus um you know I think it um delivered but I’d probably give it a B plus there were
Knockouts there were back and forth Wars you know there were good scraps there there there was a little bit about a little bit of everything and even after having two fights fall off the Ian Gary fight the r Randy Brown fight I mean the fight card was still stacked so it was
Fun I thought it was a great fight card maybe just not enough to put it into the a um range for me um now with that said let’s get into breaking down that fight so Edwards versus Covington I mean this was a terrible fight um Kobe Covington
Looked old he looked slow he was staying on the outside um he wasn’t pushing the uh Pace at all and that was one of his um competitive advantages in past fights he would he would uh he would press the pace he would um demonstrate a high
Degree of pressure um he would go for a variety of takedowns um in every single fight and he just tried to sit on the outside and Leon Edwards picked him apart but he didn’t pick him apart in an Artful way or maybe that’s the wrong that’s the wrong phrasing he didn’t pick
Him apart in a dominant way he tap tap tap um picked him apart from the outside and just held on to when a really uninteresting decision I I thought it was a pretty it I thought it was a pretty perform a pretty poor performance by both Fighters but it was an
Absolutely terrible performance by kobby Covington and the problem with that is that he he took a year and a half off or maybe a little longer than that and you could see not only you know the ring rust but also maybe just the natural aging process you know he’s a
35-year-old fighter who hasn’t fought in a while and just looked absolutely terrible and it looked like he was just there to pick up a check what are your thoughts on the fight that’s what off he just he was just there to like make some money and I start some controversy but I
Don’t Leon just I think Leon just wanted to win the fight in the end he wasn’t really trying to knock him out or anything he was just trying to pick him apart which I thought was kind of weird he thought he he looked like when they
Were doing the um like when they were talking to each other I thought they were here they’re just gon to go at it and just like throw down but that’s not really how he fights no exactly and and given the emotional um um the emotional nature of this fight for Leon Edwards
And we’ll talk about um what Kobe Covington said in the press conference um towards the end of this podcast but um he showed a high degree of composure and you’re 100% correct he he demonstrated that despite these strong swirling emotions that I can um remain composed stick to a game plan and I’m
Going to win but it was interesting he was really fighting almost not to lose when you watch a leon Edwards fight it’s not always that interesting it’s usually pretty technical um and pretty safe it seems like he played this maybe a little too safe and it goes to I think maybe
What went down at the press conference that he did not want to take any chances because he could not afford a loss he really wanted to beat this guy and you know he did so congratulations to to him he won and so now we think okay well
What what’s next Who’s Next there only really two options right it’s shafkat rakmana and it’s balal Muhammad and balal Muhammad has been the loudest about making his case and he’s definitely right there he’s won I believe eight in a row you know he’s beat some good guys but it’s not the
Fight I want to see next I think he’s still one fight away um I would rather see sha cot Rano see the I believe what shop cut has won six in a row in the UFC but he’s won 18 in a row overall and he’s dominated he’s finished
100% of um of the people against whom he went so balam Muhammad is more of a decision machine and the last thing I want to do is watch after this performance watch Leon Edwards versus balal Muhammad you know particularly you know given that balal Muhammad’s the same age
As kobby Covington as well now I and it’s a little tricky I mean he is right there but I’d rather see shafkat rockano that’s the fight I want to see next I would like to see shop cot Rockman Mano fight for the title against Leon Edwards
And I think if um malal Muhammad wins one more um he will be undeniable and you really do got to give him a a title fight but I think even though he has a longer win streak his wins have not been as dominant as Sha cot and in part
Because his wins have not been as dominant and also because I think it’s a much more exciting fight for the UFC I would definitely do shop cot Rock manov versus Leon Ed what are your thoughts I think shot would probably be the best fight I would want to see but I don’t
Know I feel like I don’t know if he really deserves it Mohamed he’s the waiting he was like the fighter to go he was already training in case um somebody pulled out yeah so he does deserve it but maybe like I don’t know maybe put like Kamar Usman against shav Cott and
Then see what happens there or maybe like in Islam like I would want to see Islam fight somebody and go up and I I don’t know throw them somewhere in there so it’s interesting Islam has been talking about going up and and that would be interesting um my only issue
With that and islong himself yeah he’s been saying that my only issue with that is the welterweight division’s so stacked you know I I think there’s a lot of guys but maybe even even though it’s stacked in terms of title contenders it’s really bah and schaut are they’re
Really the only two in the conversation right now so maybe that could make sense um and you’re right you know balah Muhammad he did weigh in you know they gave it to Kobe Covington after he did weigh in and that might be the fairest
Um but I also think it’s fair to look at somebody who win streak you know contains all finishes right or includes all finishes um so either way you have balal Muhammad um versus Lon Edwards next I have sha cot Rockman versus Leon Edwards next um so yeah I mean you know
Both both would be I I think the the balam Muhammad and Leon Edwards fight would be more competitive um you know I think sha shop cot runs over Leon Edwards I don’t know I mean to watch him fight against um Kamar Usman though would be pretty crazy
That that’s a pretty good matchup as well before that we had Pantoja versus Brandon royval this was a fun fight a lot of crazy scrambles um you know you really saw um you you really saw pantoja’s um wrestling and jiu-jitsu proficiency with some of those re
Reverses and some of the control I mean he looks so good on the ground but when they’re on their feet royville looked good he was a little bit quicker he was so fast but I think Pantoja just outclassed him um it it was a fun fight um I would actually put Pantoja against
The winner of Brandon Marino and albazi they are fighting next and you would masch them up with the winner I think albazi is right there in the mix where Brandon Moreno you know had that he had that controversial loss to pantoes so you can easily make the argument that um
You know that would be a good fight so I would take either of them um what are your thoughts on the fight and then who to who to match them up with next I I think that was definitely the fight of the night for me it was the most
Interesting like back and forth fight to watch but um in terms of matchups I don’t really know who to put him in flyweight but I he’s he only has two title defenses right or he only has one title defense right yeah his first he
Won he he he beat Mariner to win it and this is defense so yes I don’t really know he would have put him up against the flow it but I kind of want to see him fight somebody bigger than him maybe go up a division so moving on we had sha
Cot Rockman versus Steven Wonderboy Thompson now I predicted second round submission um but I I didn’t expect it I didn’t expect the first first round to go like that Stephen to Wonderboy Thompson has always had exceptional takedown defense and it looks like he’s worked on some new things after his
Fights against Gilbert Burns and balal Muhammad um I Still Still I was a little surprised to see sha cot have that much trouble getting them to the ground in the first round but once he got him to the ground it was over it was game over
Um it was dominant and this is what shaf cot does it is absolutely incredible that somebody what I believe he’s 18-0 100% finish rate um you know and now we can pick apart that okay well he had a little bit of resistance well this is the first time Stephen Thompson has ever
Been submitted in his in his entire career this is absolutely incredible now granted he is a little bit older now um you know so you might start to see lapses in his game that you haven’t seen before but he’s still a highlevel fighter um so it was a really good win
And um like I said um you know with um against whom to match um Leon Edwards obviously it’s the same thing shop cot I’m matching him up with Leon Edwards I’m giving him a title shot next and we’re g to go from there um what are
Your thoughts on the fight and then um with whom do you want to match him up I guess um it was a super dominant fight for sha cot um I thought one of what was gonna like somehow land something in the first round but when when he would put
Him against the fence he was just stuck there he couldn’t do anything but I was surprised that like he kept like somehow like kid getting his leg like out of his arms it was impressive that he was able to go for that long so yeah yeah because he
Had him in all sorts of trouble once he did get him on the ground too and you know Wonderboy did survive that first C submission so he was good on the takedown defense he was good with his initial initial um submission defense as well but Shot Rock manov has not only
Proved too much to be for Stephen Thompson he’s been too much for everybody else in the division so I’m ready to see him get his title shot um I think that would be an exciting one and you mentioned you’d like to actually see him against Kamar manman yeah I think
That would be a fantastic fight as well that would be absolutely fascinating all right moving on before that we had Patty the baddy pimblett versus Tony Ferguson Milo talk to me about this um David Goggins didn’t help too much I thought he was gonna do better but he he did
That really good technical advice in the corner like what was it try go harder be focused or don’t Focus oh that that that really changed the course fight that went great for him um yeah it was I I I couldn’t have seen the fight going any other way but I don’t know I
Think um Patty showed like uh he was good at the end of the round where he like showed respect to him and stuff and he was talking good about him so there’s that that that’s good for him too it’s not just like he’s not this being nice it’s actually good for his like
Personality and like stuff like that yeah it it’s good for his personal brand I think that’s a very smart take right you know when when you have a legend who M most of the fan base just really gets behind you don’t want to talk bad about that individual because then it will
Turn fans off on you so I think that was a really that’s a really smart point and it’s interesting Patty looked good in the first two rounds but he kind of gassed in the third and that’s a problem when he goes up against higher level competition um and I’m wondering we know
He likes to balloon up in in in the um in between fights he eats a lot you know he gets pretty pretty big you know he he talks about it you know maybe he shouldn’t let himself get too out of control in between fights because maybe
He had to cut too much weight because I’ve never seen him gas like this and he should have been able to finish Tony Ferguson so I think that would that’s a bit of a problem but when we look at um against whom to match these two Fighters
Next for Patty pimblett I’m going to match him up against RAR close he’s he’s on a three-fight winning Street he’s in a similar range in the rankings you know still outside of the top 15 he’s won six out of seven and I think it would allow Patti emlet to get some credibility back
To fight somebody who’s on a streak but still not necessarily dominating people um I think that’s good for the UF brand to give to put him in a winnable yet appropriate fight um so that’s what I would do as far as Tony Ferguson goes um I would match him up against Jim Miller
At UFC 300 uh we know Jim Miller is gonna fight at UFC 300 I think you know if I’m the UFC I let Tony Ferguson know hey this will be your last fight you know you want to do a uh a a retirement ceremony you know we’re not telling you
To retire but this this would be the the one at which to do it um you know and I I think that’s what the UFC should do with both fighter what are your thoughts yeah I think for Tony Ferguson they should definitely put him against somebody that he probably should beat so
He can he so he can retire like with a win it’ll it’ll be a good ending and with Patty um I don’t I wouldn’t say given give him anybody too high yet so and yeah really really anybody except for the top like title contenders yeah so you want to see the UFC build
His brand maybe showcase him in London a little bit more where he’s really popular because he’s got a fun personality he’s a really likable likable guy and I think he is good for the UFC maybe if they do kind of protect him maybe for the next year you know
Hopefully where he can develop a I mean he’s got a really good skill set but the problem is there’s two problems one he gas that that’s a big problem but all but two he holds his head way too high still and he really got to fix that particularly being in the lightweight
Division um yeah if he gets into the top 15 and even some of those guys on the periphery of the top 15 could be can spell danger for him um or maybe like a like a St Denise or something like that that would be a good fight I think okay
So now okay so you’re saying to protect him St Den is in the top 15 and he is one of those guys that would probably absolutely obliterate him yeah that that’s actually true that’s true I mean it would be yeah I think yeah I think I agree with your initial
Statement that you should keep them outside of the rankings for right now and give them some time build the brand um do you do you disag do you disagree or do you want to put him up against Charles Olivera now yeah or maybe an Islam put him there there you go there
You that’s that that’s that’s funny yeah so it looks like we’re you know kind of in agreement you know kind of kind of you know protect them a little bit but maybe not for too long and you know they’ll go from there all right next up we had Josh EMT against Bryce michell
Now what’s interesting about this fight you predicted it would be a draw and your rationale that you said on the last podcast was Josh EMT is gonna come out hard and he’s gonna have a 108 round but you thought Bryce Mitchell would probably s um survive and then wrestle
Him for the next two rounds how did you know Josh mid or excuse me how did you know um EMT was going to come out like that bro I just knew it I just sensed you just knew it yep that’s exactly it but then he got knocked out
So it didn’t work out too well no he he knocked out Bryce Mitchell oh you’re that’s who you’re talking okay oh sorry sorry sorry yeah yeah that’s who you’re talking about whom you’re speaking okay um so what were your thoughts on that fight not a lot to digest that was
Really short I didn’t I did not expect like a first front knockout like that but um it happened it happened I saw um a thing after the fight um Bryce Mitchell was like at home or something and he was talking about he didn’t remember the fight at all so he got hit pretty
Hard yeah I mean it that was one of the most brutal Knockouts and it was pretty you know it was the it was the shaking at when he was on the ground that was it was pretty scary because then you start to work you know we all like to see
Knockouts but then it it crosses a line where you’re thinking oh God I don’t want to see this guy severely hurt you know permanently hurt um you know and this is one of those things where you know does want to fight again after a knockout like that it was so brutal you
Know in going into this fight I knew Josh EMT had power but I thought Mitchell would at some point be able to get him on the ground and I thought actually in the first round and I thought he would just control him all the way to a decision and boy was I
Wrong he just dropped him in the most vicious way possible um with that said I would give EMT Yousef next I think Yousef um sad Yousef is um right between between 10 and 15 EMT is I believe he’s five or six um that’s the fight I’d like
To see he’s 10 right now oh he’s 10 okay okay so he’s yeah he’s 10 and then Bryce Mitchell I just want to see him take a break for a little while I mean that was a little bit too much um to be able to bounce back from anytime soon so I I
Haven’t even really thought about uh uh the person against whom he should fight um I just think he needs to take a break um what are your thoughts um yeah I agree I think he should take a little time off and like digest like what happened to him I yeah he probably
Won’t even want to fight again after that so but yeah that was just I agree with you on Josh EMT probably be a pretty good fight yeah that yeah I I think that would be a solid fight and um who who was up who was before that was it Alon
Or was it the jacobe Manfield fight um oh Dustin jacobe yeah okay so here was my prediction I I said okay Justin jacobe is gonna pick him apart from the outside Alonzo menifield will fight in spurts can end it at any time but jacobe was gonna Outlast him um I saw the fight
In the right way I was definitely wrong in the outcome you called menifield um to win and here was my takeaway from this menafield had him severely severely compromised on mult on multiple occasions but what he did was he started swinging so wildly after he landed a big
Hook he couldn’t catch him again if he would learn to just shorten up his punches I mean maybe he’s he hits so hard you know after you land that that first hook jab jab jab so you can keep touching the guy he let jacobe recover every single time what are your what are
Your thoughts on that yeah I agree I don’t know why he wouldn’t just like he he would go and then he’ punch him like really hard and then he’d kind of like just miss all his shots he wouldn’t like take his time and then you just back off
And let him like get distance just restart so yeah it was a perplexing you know low like Q fight performance um with that said he still won he has that crazy power I mean he is you know he’s in the top 15 um in in the like heavyweight division so now I’m matching
Him up against khil round Tre and somebody’s going to get knocked out in that fight um who would you like to see uh Alonzo that would be a crazy fight that would be a really good fight to watch that prob is going back and forth
But yeah yeah and both guys can end it immediately so it can you can match power with powers before that we had aldana versus Rosa and this was a great fight it started out a little slowly um aldonna came out pretty tentative you know for the first minute and I was
Concerned oh no is this the type of fighter she’s become after the Amanda Nunes fight but what was happening is Rosa kept kicking her leg and God that’s another thing she’s got to learn how to check leg kick kicks change stances do something um but she kept kicking you
Know the inside part of her leg and it was compromising it and I’m wondering if that’s what compelled Alon to turn on the heat because she started throwing the more her leg would get chewed up instead of changing stances or doing something different she started throwing
More volume and it was working and it was a pretty I mean it was a good fight um I I was um I was I was pleasantly surprised um what are your thoughts on the on the overall fight it was a really good fight but they were punching each
Other as hard as they could and they had no power they were just hitting each other in the faces like I they look like they’re hitting each other with pillows like a pillow fight and then I I thought someone was gonna get knocked out and they just kept standing but yeah in the
End um that um Irene had like really good aim her accuracy was so good she was on point every single strike so when she was hitting her like she she was hitting it with like a lot more like accuracy overpower that’s what they say so yeah yeah you know and it’s funny if
Um Alonzo menifield could borrow some of that technique you know after he lands one of those power shots and this jab and Jab jab when when some he’s H yeah you know he would have finish J Kobe um but yeah you’re you’re you’re right there um know there wasn’t a lot of
Power there given the amount of shots that were landed um it it was still a great fight that was fun um the person against whom I would match up Al next would be Mesa Tate um they’re both plus 35 they’re both in the title picture or
Were in the title picture um I mean Misha Tate was was a title holder um and she looked good in her last fight that’s um that’s who I would do next um who would you do next yeah M should T that’s that’s probably the best place to go
With that so yeah yeah and I think I think that would be a fun fight because both Fighters have now been able to get back on track and let’s see you know um where peach woman um Stacks up now at at this stage of their respective careers
Um who was the fight before that um Colby garbrandt Kobe garbrandt so you called this first round knockout I think I called it a decision but you still got the win but you also called it um specifically um talk to me about this what did you see what did you like I
Mean you have some I I knew he was just gonna come out throwing yeah he had to he had to come out throwing to like I don’t know keep himself relevant in like the rankings you know so I it was it was impressive I didn’t
Expect it to be like like that though it was like brutal brutal knockout yeah and speaking of the fight the most probably the most interesting thing what what was up with Brian Ker’s hair oh my gosh he had a um Daniel Cormier said he had a beaver tail on the
Back of his head so that’s pretty accurate I mean do you sit here and say you know what I have a good idea I’m gonna shave my head but I’m gonna just grow it in the back I mean that that was worse than a mullet that’s probably why you lost a
Fight I think that’s why I don’t think it has anything to do with fight Acumen training or anything like that his hair totally screwed him Cody garbrandt was calling for figuro I definitely don’t give him that fight figuro is far past that now if he’s closer to a title shot
That would be fighting backwards that would um I think be a bad decision for the UFC to do so what I’m gonna do is I want to he’s coming off two wins and he’s got a little bit of that shine back and he looked really good I’m gonna
Give him Adrien Giannis who was one of the top upand cominging prospects in the bantamweight division but he’s lost two in a row so that’s what I’d like to now I do I did listen I did listen to um a podcast in which um Keith Schilling of
The Schilling and Duffy show had one of the best ideas i’ I’ve heard um and it almost got me to change my mind he was saying why don’t you put garbrandt on UFC 300 and I’m like thinking why would you want to do that and he said it would
Be garbrandt versus Dominic Cruz 2 that’s interesting I’m going janz but that I thought that was pretty I thought that was pretty cool and pretty interesting um I didn’t even think about that um what are your thoughts um who would you matching up against him would you match
Him up I was gonna agree with you right there but Dominic crew was being an amazing fight um yeah it would come full circle right because it’s I mean he’s that’s the guy he beat right all right who was who was before that Casey O’Neal versus Ariana lipsky so what’s interesting about that
So I mentioned in the uh in the um preview show that Ariana lipsky has looked a lot better in the last two fight fights it looked like she has turned the corner but would it be enough to take on Casey O’Neil who before her last fight against Jennifer mayia was
Undefeated and looked like a world beater apparently it was I mean she dominated and she dominated it in such an impressive way that she demonstrated she’s on a completely different level than Casey O’Neal and she’s ready for I think a pretty big name and what I’d
Like to do is match her up against Jennifer mayia because then we can really see it you know where she matches you know where she really is in that division is Casey O’Neal has she been overrated this whole time and you you know was you know because many thought
Maybe the Jennifer May Maya fight might have been an aberration or an outlier for um Casey O’Neal or is she just not that good I think a fight with between lipsky and Jennifer Maya would help answer that quite a bit what are your thoughts yeah I I would agree with that
So I think maybe Casey’s like I think she’s a little bit overrated but she’s good but not definitely not on lipsky level at all yeah and it’s funny because you know she came in with more hype well it’s interesting Ariana lipsky she came in the UFC with a lot of hype and then
She’s kind of fallen off and it’s like now it’s three fights in a row where she has looked really really good and it looks like she it looks like she just turned everything on all right so now we get to our last three fights for our last three fights we’re not going to
Match anybody up but we’re just going to cover them real quickly um we had anulan beckov versus Cody Duran this was a fun fight a little bit of back and forth Ulan Becca really showed that he was a you know a level of above Cody Duran um
This is a fun fight I think anulan beckov you know really deserves a step up in competition now I don’t really have a name on my mind right now and as I mentioned we’re not going to really go into um you know for the last three who
People should fight next Milo what are your thoughts uh it it was a good fight but I didn’t think it was gonna go to submission for some reason I thought I thought Cody was gonna catch him so yeah wait but you but you picked Elon beckov
Did you change no no I I I picked Jon Beck off but when I was re when I rewatched the fight I was like geez I thought I thought he’s gonna catch him but yeah yeah and it was one of those things where Cody can do that he’s got the he’s
So tough too it’s like when he’s the guy doesn’t like to tap he’s really tough so he can be in a world of trouble and he can sometimes get out when you don’t think he can um before that we had Lucas almea versus Andre Philly the fighter with your new favorite nickname Andre
Touy Philly touched up Almeida quite badly and oh my goodness um what a brutal what a brutal knockout and it’s funny after at the end of the um fight he said that’s what he gets for not shaking my hand in the um at the at the
Way end um I mean who doesn’t like Andre Philly he’s he’s a nice guy he’s a likable guy and he’s a really good fighter and I think he’s a little bit underrated um you know he’s right on you know the outside of the rankings not
Really a a top 15 fighter but not far behind that he’s um you know an a fun Fighter um you know kind of like a gatekeeper to a certain to a certain degree if you can beat him you’re really good and he’s going to beat a lot of
He’s going to beat basically everybody he should um again I don’t have a fight um plan a fighter in mind for him um but what were your thoughts on the fight um another great fight on this card I feel like they all start to blend in because
There was so many like like Knockouts and like there’s so many like like like big moments on the card so yeah he just added to the card yeah yeah it was it was it was it was probably one of the most under assuming matchups on a stack fight card
And then you watched it it’s like oh my God I I hope I hope that that wasn’t the fight anyone else got up to take a break because it it definitely delivered yeah before that yeah before that the opener we had Martin Bay versus Shamil gazia
And one of the things that I mentioned in the preview was that both of these persons have fought nobody right and there’s no way that buay should be ranked in the top 15 for beating Jake colier and perisian that that’s to me is absolutely insane with that I did go
With budde for a decision because I haven’t seen Shamil fight anybody but oh my God he can throw some heat um Shamil um just um bdet Wanted know part of that and it’s funny because in the past you know chamil for you know you know in a
Fight where he went the distance started to gas a little bit but he looked a lot leaner and I’m wondering if okay here’s a guy who got his UF C contract now has maybe time to train full-time has taken this you know to a different level and
You know might be the real deal he is an undefeated fighter and he’s also a good athlete too I I believe he was on the dagestani volleyball team as well and he went from volleyball to MMA took 10 years off to earn a living and now went
Back to MMA so he might be one of those guys who has some really good natural tools or natural skills and abilities but has just never really put it to use so watch out heavyweight Division I mean this is interesting let’s see where he
Goes I I would um who day’s 15 I’d like to see him against you know somewhere between um somewh between 10 and 15 next um you know let’s let’s see how good he is um let’s not slow walk him let’s let’s put him in some fire right away

And so there was a little kid behind Shan Strickland and it was Gilbert Burn’s son and he said you know asked him to please move out of the way which is pretty crazy so he had the presence of mind to have him move out of the way
And then he jumped over the seat and just you know started going off on drus D plus SE yeah um I feel like anybody else would have gone to jail but they just got kicked out I feel like it was a little bit planned in a way too Dana I think Dana like
Purposely had him sit there he probably no no so here’s so Dana’s good point so here’s what happened Dana White said who was the bleep that put those two close together and he’s off I am he’s off I put him close together and he’s all that

Throwing punches you don’t see the top level Fighters do that right they there’s some back and forth a lot of the guys are respectful even when there’s some bad blood the priz fighters are just that they’re prize Fighters they they’ll fight you know for money when it’s time Sean St Strickland will fight
If you just talk some smack and you do it in a disrespectful way and um you know and I did think and we’ll talk about this moment I think drus did cross the line in the press conference as well um so yeah so you know they got the
Promo and they got you know they got more than what what they expected um and we’re gonna have a lot to talk about about in terms of the preview who will actually win um the fight once they get into the cage um but yeah that that was absolutely shocking I can’t remember of
A time when you know a a champion of a division got out and just jumped over a row and started fighting an opponent so that was nuts yeah um and so what this brings us to is to the press conference the press conference beforehand I thought was problematic on

2026 for the press conference with Sean Strickland andrius du plus C look Strickland was going hard at him and it was like he was dishing it but Sean Strickland’s take on this and and it’s an interesting point drus brought up childhood trauma and abuse and that’s what Strickland said is hey everything

Amateur Surfers in the United States and in his first heat he’s going against older kids it’s 18 and under and he won his first heat very impressive you’re 16 you went against some older kids so your first TR heat tell me about that um I like it was the waves were really
Closed out so that means like there’s all like just coming into the beach with no like lines on them and I only got single turns on a wave so that’s a sub maneuver where you just go one turn on the wave you’ve probably seen videos of it and um everybody else got multiple
Turn waves but my turns they were like solid turns and the judges like that so that’s the reason I got through that he and actually won it so yeah that see now that’s pretty amazing And for those of you you don’t follow surfing I mean if you have you know multiple turns you
Know you do multiple Maneuvers um that’s what we call turns you do multiple Maneuvers I mean that’s a good thing but apparently Milo you were um delivering on such a high level that you were getting higher scores for doing you know fewer turns so that’s awesome yeah then
We got in yeah no that’s awesome but then we got in the second round um you ended up getting knocked out of the second round where I what I was told is you just didn’t have any waves come your way at that point right or what happened
Yeah I sat outside with first priority that basically means that you can get any wave you want and I just sat there for basically 15 minutes of the heat with really low scores and I thought there was going to be a wave that came over there but everybody else got their
Waves and it ended up putting me in a really bad position so yeah yeah and and that and that’s the difficulty with competitive surfing I mean when you only have 20 minutes you need the ocean to cooperate sometimes you pick a spot where to sit sometimes it doesn’t happen
But um you know you’re still right there in the mix and you’re competing against older kids I think that’s awesome and that does it for our recap show at for UFC 296 Milo do you have a last word drop the mic we’re out
