The official golf world rankings committee have announced they are to make enhancements to how the system works in 2024 now the thing that I would say to you and the question I’m going to ask you right away is this to make compensations to how the current system

Works to allow them to distribute points to live golf events that is the thing that I first thought now in this video we’re going to go through the full details now it’s no lie and no secret that over the last 12 months the World Golf Ranking system has been heavily

Scrutinized from players who play live golf and players who play on the PGA tour saying that it’s just obsolete it doesn’t work I mean we had a period of time where John Ram won twice in about three weeks and wasn’t world number one after being inside the world’s top five

I mean that is absolutely crazy especially with how close the points were so let’s go through this exact new system the new points distribution curve for tournaments with 80 players or less which approximately would likely include the tour Signature Events known as the elevator events will award approximately

21% of their events total world ranking points to the winner now that’s up from the current distribution curve where it was around 17 to 18% to the winner now think about this they’re making decisions on smaller field tournaments they’re making the curve bigger from what it was now I’ll give you my full

Opinion here at the end there will also be a multi-win benefit for those players who win more than once in a 52 we ranking window the players with multiple victories in that window will receive a 70% % Point bonus now there will be a cap of four ranking points now we hear

From the chairman of the world ranking committee Peter Dawson now remember earlier in the year I say earlier around September time he played with Yas Al rman and he this is the gentleman that heads up the Saudi Investment fund piff let’s hear what he has to say he says

Based on extensive analysis the changes in implemented in August 2022 we recognize these opportunities to further enhance the world ranking system and to accurately evaluate the performance of world’s participating players on eligible tours adjustments to the world rankings are made after careful consideration and we were confident that

Today’s update will better the positions of the rankings for the future well I hope they do I hope that we have a system which fairly represents exactly who is is the best player at the time now I know it roughly does that right

Now but I do feel it has a few flaws in further changes the bottom 15% of those no cut events limited field events will receive no world ranking points and this gets me to my point of live golf if you think of this they’re awarding 20% of

The points to the winner on the smaller events now up from 17 to 18 is that to allow that threshold of 17 to 18 to give to live golf events to give their winner and is this cavc of the bottom 15% of the field on no cut events will receive

No points is that to bring it in line with what they’re potentially going to give to live golf this is exactly what I was thinking reading this article and doing this research as soon as this broke I was like they’re making compensations here because they’re anticipating no deal

They’re anticipating live golf are going to be a separate entity and the way it’s going more and more of technically the world’s best players are going to fall down the world rankings and that’s just not good for golf image that’s just not good for golf as a commercial products

Right cuz eventually they will fall outside the majors now the reason for doing the multiple event strategy is to quickly identify emerging Talent the world’s be the best example of this is lug big Uber who won DP world tours Omega European Masters earli in September shortly after turning pro and

Added his second victory in November at the PJ tours RSM classic the bonus will allow High performing players a chance to climb the rankings faster and I think that’s a fair point like over the last 20 years you’ve seen a lot of players stay inside that world’s top 50 for a

Very long time I feel that that now is going to change a lot quicker so what do you think about this is this done to just update the system because it was heavily criticized by players or was this done to allow them scope to adapt the system and give a lesser percentage

But still give world ranking points to live golf events I think honestly it’s a little bit of both but I definitely feel like it has a live golf meaning behind it thanks so much for watching that’s today’s breaking news story here on bat n films be sure to subscribe turn on the

  1. the world ranking was started by a management company to hype clients, as it stands now, it's a political creation that is trying to stay relevant, what a blech deal. they should scrap the whole thing, bring in a private group a la JD Power to come in a and rank the world's players based on the reality of the new global golf ecosystem.
