49th PGA seminar that I’ve done and it’s only the third one I’ve done outside so it’s nice to be outside and I just want to uh thank Jamie and all the folks here for uh having me back I was here in 2012 how many were you here in

2012 when I when I spoke um but Jamie and and Boyd are two of my best friends on tour um I admire both of these guys because they’re passionate about teaching people and making people better it’s not about them it’s about the students and and uh they both work

Really really hard to uh help their players improve and uh it’s nice to be to be able to be here and and for Jamie to to invite me so I appreciate that very much um we’re going to uh do some things a little bit different I’m gonna I’m going

To talk a little bit about kind of what I do when I teach and then uh we’re g to have V come up and we’re g to do some training stuff some things that I do with my players to help develop them and develop different things in their in

Their golf game so um the first thing that that I think uh I try to do is is get people to understand that golf is about controlling the ball so so basically anything I do in the swing is ultimately trying to get the ball to do something different so whether it’s putting

Chipping pitching full swing um I’m trying to do something in the swing to to change the impact alignments and um my main goal in the full swing is to give a player um a shot shape something that they uh they can manage around the golf course

To shoot a good score and most players have a specific shot shape that they like to hit and they have a specific miss that they like to see so um I was telling V earlier that pretty much every Tour player every good player that comes

To me when I ask him that’s one of the first questions I ask what you know what’s your shot shape what kind of shot do you like to hit and what do you think most of them say they say I hit straight and I’ll say okay here’s what we’re going to start

The lesson with we’re going to go with that red flag out there you’re going to get 10 shots we’re going to do $100 a shot everyone that starts on the flag and finishes on the flag you get 100 and every time it doesn’t I get 100 how many tour players

Or good players have taken that betat you think none but that’s how they that’s how they think they play right so understanding that I I teach golf to get players to hit the ball in what I call hallways try to hit the ball into areas

So very rarely do you have a shot where the pin’s in the middle of the green and you have a perfect number for the club you’re going to hit how many times that happen in round a golf hardly ever right yet when I watch people on the Range they’re always

Hitting full shots trying to hit it straight at the Target and that’s the one thing I try to get my students to understand is that you’re not going to have very many what I call stock shots in around the golf you’re going to have to play a lot of variations and so

Developing those skills that you need to hit these VAR ations are what separate the good players from the great players so better ball control equals lower scores so that should be all our initiatives when we teach a player is how can we help this player control the ball better whether it’s a 30

Handicapper that’s hitting a 20 yard slice if you can you teach them either to fix the slice or are you going to teach them how to manage the slice around the course to shoot a good score so when a player comes to me the first thing I think that you have to

Look at is where is the student now and how do you how do you decide that there’s a couple different ways right if it’s an average player you can look at their handicap but even within the handicap system not all 12 handicaps are the same right you have some 12

Handicaps that are great short game players some 12 handicappers might hit the ball great T to Green not be able to chip or putt so you have to quantify each player’s game and what aspects of their game are good what aspects of their games are not good how do you do

That with tour players you look at their stats right you look at you know how do they drive the ball how’s their iron play how’s their wedge play how’s their short game how’s their putting and you can even now with the stats you can even you can even

Get the uh they have it so refined they have different distances for the irons or proximity putting how good are they inside 8 feet how good are they from four feet so you can get really specific and so with a tour player you’re not re trying to reinvent the wheel you’re

Trying to find those two or three different areas that you can really help them improve um the next question you have to ask is where do they want to go so if you have a player that comes to you that’s a 20 handicapper and they say

Well I want to be scratch in a year and then we play once a week and I don’t practice good luck right so you have to see kind of where they are now where they want to go and then you know are they able to get where they want to go

Are they willing to put in the time and the effort to get to where they want to go um and then come up with a plan as to how are we going to get them there so that’s that’s kind of the next step is okay here’s where we are here’s where we

Want to go here’s going to be our plan of attack these are the areas of your game you need to get better these are the things in your swing you need to get better um and then try to develop a plan to help them get there um so there’s

Really I call what I call the four Ps which are the priorities for the player that’s kind of the what what you’re going to do there’s the the process and the procedure that’s how you’re going to do it and then there’s the sequence that’s the that’s kind of the uh the

Plan of what you’re going to do on and off the course like the sequence of how you’re going to implement this plan and then there’s the production and that’s the result you always have to look at you know is what you’re doing working or is it not working so interesting interesting story

About Billy horse who I’ve worked with for the last 14 years um had a lot of success and this year was just we were having an awful year he was struggling and wasn’t playing well we tried to make some changes earlier in the year you did great in practice but didn’t transfer

Over well in the tournaments so kind of went through this whole uh most of the Season really struggling so um I’m looking at old videos he’s looking at old videos we’re trying to just get back to you know what worked in the past just nothing was really working but when I

Looked at his swing everything looked really good to me I kept saying man I just don’t see I’m not seeing what’s what’s off you know he kept hitting this trying to hit Cuts he kept hitting these pulls so we uh we end up right before

The US Open going and get on the gears 3D thing and uh they put him on on Gears and Michael niff who who runs gears is going through this analysis and he’s going Billy man I just don’t see anything wrong he said everything looks good your plane’s good your your uh

Sequence of motion’s good he’s going through all the different things they they they test and everything checked out well and then he looks and he says you know you’ve been hitting the ball left Billy goes yeah he goes specifically with your short clubs and he goes yeah he goes I think your L

Angles are too upright and uh Billy goes really he goes yeah he goes I want you to go back and he says I want you to bend your L angles two degrees flatter than where they are right now so we go back we go over and

They bend the LI angles down and we uh he starts hitting balls immediately starts hitting it better and uh so Billy was with ping so he looks back in his phone to where he won he won the FedEx cup with ping he looks at the LI angle on his ping clubs

Versus where we B him to they’re exactly the same so in the process of going from ping to pxg pxg to TI somehow the specs got off so the clubs were two degrees more upright than they needed to be and since then he’s he’s played much much better but you know as a

Coach sometimes you have to reach out and you have to say you know what I’m just going to put him on 3D and maybe I’m missing something you know maybe I’m not seen it on video maybe there is something really wrong so as a teacher

And as a coach I think we always have to be looking for okay you know what’s wrong and if we can’t figure it out try to find the answer and so that that really was something that really that really helped us out so that that process that we were going

Through um banging our heads against the wall trying it all and Billy’s stubborn with his equipment too I said you know is everything go yeah everything’s the same everything’s the same you know so that was a that was a big eye opener for me and and the fact that you know I said

We got to do something and and doing that really really changed his the second half of his year um so basically I I try to do three three things when I work with a player the the first thing would be what we call what I call teaching and that’s

Probably what most of you do on a daily basis with your members or whoever you teach you’re you’re trying to change something in their swing or something in their in their motion to help them create the ball flight they want to create so that’s the first that’s the

First thing and that’s basically when you decide what you want to try to do and when you do that you do it in a pretty set environment where you’re basically trying to hit from the same position to the same Target so just a lot of simulation a lot of things over

And over again to try to get them to create the right feel you’re trying to create and then once you have that basic motion down then the next thing is what I what I do what I call training that’s where you’re trying to develop a skill so standing here hitting my seven iron

160 yards at that flag I’m not going to have that shot very often when I play so I need to be able to take and control the distance control when the flag’s on the left I don’t want to miss it left so I got to

Be able make sure I keep my ball to the right right um if I’m into the wind and I can’t hit it full shot I got to be able to flight my ball bound so just being able to do the adjustments um that you need to make to hit the the shot

You’re trying to play so developing these skills and these adjustments from that basic motion kind of gets the player to the next level um and that’s where you’re going to hit different clubs the different targets different shot shapes you’re changing something you’re not doing the same thing over and over and over again

And then the last thing is what I call transfer and that’s where you determine the result so you try to create a situation that hopefully will simulate what they’re going to see on the course and see if they can hit the shot when they need to hit it so you basically you

Do the teaching then the training and then the transfer does that make sense so what I see a lot of teachers I see a lot but I see some teachers they get so hung up on the mechanical stuff that it never goes to those those next phases and that’s where the player is

Going to be paralyzed when they’re out there well what do I do on this downhill eye out of the rough I don’t know how to play this shout or what do I do when I have an a fairway ER or what do I do when I have a tight lie what adjustments

Do I need to make so as coaches we need to give them the the ability to make those adjustments so that they can hit the shot on the course when they need to hit it not just stand here on this perfect Turf right here and hit shot

After shot to the same Target so My Philosophy basically is um you teach them some mechanical thing they’re trying to change you give them a thought you give them a feel you know whether it’s I want you to turn a little more behind the ball or I want your left

Wrist a little flatter at the top or I want you to feel like your hands are more forward at impact whatever that is okay that’s phase one but then you have to go beyond that so what happens after that is you have to learn that what does

That thought create what feel does it create so I I I believe that you have a thought after you hit enough balls thinking about it you should create a feel and then that feel should create a shot shape and then you connect that shot shape to your target

So if you just get stuck in the mechanical side of it and don’t go beyond that and what is that mechanical thought making me feel I don’t think you’ll ever get to that next level as a player I think you’ll always be stuck in out there looking at your Club face and

Trying to be real mechanical so learning to and I and I have I’ve had tons of players that tell me I’m a field player you know but what how do you define a field player somebody who relies on Ry and routine but you just can’t you can’t pull a feel

Out of the air you have to have something that triggers that feel yeah so they might feel the club head swing whatever grip pressure whatever but something has to trigger a feel you don’t just pull a feel out you know out of the sky you have to have

Something that triggers that feel and then and everybody feels things in different places too that’s the other thing is that I I I’m a big believer in that you have to get the the player what I call to put the feel into their own language where they can understand it

Because because I can tell you to do something and I might feel it in my hands and Jamie might feel it in his in his left shoulder and V might feel it in her feet you know everybody has areas of their body that they’re more in tune

With so you have to be able to to make sure that you’re not just spilling what you think onto them that they can take what you’re telling them and convert it into the fields they need to to use to to do the things you’re trying to get

Them to do and I think that’s that’s what separates I think the the average teacher from the really good teacher from the great teacher the great teachers understand they tell the player what they need to to try to do and then the player takes that information and

Figures out the feel they need to create to be able to produce that motion you’re trying to get them to make and and brand SNK was a great example that he’s the probably the ultimate F guy and I remember one time I was trying to get

Him to to change his Club face at the top because his Club face is getting kind of closed at the top and so I knew if I told him to change his grip he wouldn’t change it so he’s hitting some balls and I said you know your face looks a little shut at

The top he goes really he goes you think my grip’s too strong I said yeah it definitely looks too strong but if I would have said you need your grip’s too strong you need to weaken your grip he would have said no no I’m not changing

My grip but the fact that he was able to so sometimes working with tour players you have to make it their idea and you have to let them figure out how to make the change as opposed to you just saying you need to change your grip you need to

Do this you need to do that they’re gonna like oh wait a minute I’m not going to do that so being able to communicate with the player being able to find out where where the player’s feels are what I call trigger points trigger points are when a player gets

Under pressure there’s certain parts of your body that’s going to move faster what would be some of the trigger points you think when you get under pressure what do you see people do hands hands you let me quick with their hands either at the top or at the

Bottom what else hip hips yeah hips get out in front back swing might get short you know so you have to figure out Under Pressure what does your body do and and where are those trigger points what things get quick what things maybe don’t move as much as they should because

You’re there’s going to be pressure in golf anybody played around a golf where they Haden felt any kind of pressure other than when you’re out there banging it by yourself competitive golf there’s going to be pressure so you’re going to have to understand how your body moves and how to control that Under

Pressure so I’m going to finish with this and then we’re going to get V out here and we’re going to we’re going to do some stuff um so performance this is something I I read I don’t even know where where I got it from but performance is what your ego wants to

Do what your talent can do and what your nerves allow you to do that pretty much sums it up you know it’s what what’s your ego you want to be great okay are you do you have the talent to be great and then do you have

The nerves and the guts coming down the stretch to be able to to do the things necessary to win tournaments so you I know uh boy quoted Nick Sabin I’m a Alabama graduate so I’m a big Nick Sabin fan I think John Wooden and Nick Sabin are the two best coaches

And they have great if you’ve ever you ever want to read things on coaching those are two great guys to read their books look at their stuff because it’s it’s really but Sabin says you have to be before you can become so you have to be able to control

Your nerves to become great so you have to get the be part before you can become something and I think that’s a really important thing to understand you know you want to be you have to be a great chipper to have to become a great short game player so anybody have any questions

That’s just a yes sirb did he ever tell you why he did that NOP he he knew he did it I knew he did it but we yeah he he kind of comes off but then he gets it on yeah the top yep it’s a good observation

Any other questions before we start so we’re going to get we’re g to get V out here Jamie you want to Viv the fifth the fifth yeah the fifth you got to tell them you tell you tell them we have V in our phone the F you know hello yes I’m

Back in the game yeah back Roman new you know thought you’d get that one I still thought you’d get it I know I it went right over my head I said why do they call you the fifth she goes v the fifth I go okay I get in

Enough Jamie and Aaron a little different wavelength you know okay I can’t wear the joggers with the high tops you know he always gets on me like a southern boy you know so Billy and him he doesn’t go on about this Billy’s like his little brother and

They’re with each other all the time and um Billy’s super passionate and as his PA and they spent a lot of time together Billy’s got a really good uh great sense of humor and every time that they walk out when we’re on the Range we’re getting ready could be before a turn

Around could be a practice round he goes do something with ta when he dress okay it’s 1987 okay help him out yeah you can’t uh you can’t change this now it’s too late yeah okay so um what we’re going to do is we’re going to start out

With one of the things that I think is really important is that players can control their distance within their gaps so um we got a uh what do you want to do we’ll use that okay for the distance and uh so what we’re going to

Do is we’re going to have v um I’m just going to get her her her full swing numbers carry do you want to start with a uh carry you’re pretty loose right yeah what do you 60 60 60 so how far do you hit your 60

Full 68 68 not very many full ones on that either too yep more for her better off of flight with 54 or even you yep I’m I’m I’m all in on that what’s your next Club 54 how far does the 54 go U probably like 88 may5 um then what’s after

That U Gap U yeah okay and that goes 105 then the pitch and W okay 120 120 9 130 8 140 about there 130 8 140 142 and then 7 150 yeah okay so those would be her her basic full swing numbers okay so what I

Like to do one of the things I like to see is I like to see how many birdie putts of player can generate inside of 20 feet in a round okay so that’s kind of one of the I’ll ask them how many how many looks

You have inside 20 feet and to be able to do that obviously you have to control the direction of ball but also distance becomes really important and what we’re finding now on tour is um a lot of players have short clubs IND green they’re hitting the ball longer they

Have a lot of short irons and wedges in the green so being able to control your distance within your Gap is super important so what I what I’ll do is I’ll have each player have three shots with each Club so we won’t worry about the 60

We’ll start at this the 54 so she’s going to have a a 68 a 78 and an 88 she’s going to have four shots there she’s going to hit with that one and then she’s going to have an 88 you got have big gaps in here why do

You have to big big gaps between your clubs that’s why we brought you in so I like to see 15 yard gaps 1520 Max and the reason I like 15 is if you divide 15 half that’s seven and a half that’s that’s like uh 21 just over 21

Feet so if you could hit all three numbers the worst case you’re going to be if you could hit every number right on the on the button is going to have a 20-footer if you hit it online so this is like I what I would like to see is

I’d like to see these this 105 I’d like to see see this where we don’t have such a big app so 88 to 105 how many yards is that I went to Alabama so help me with the math 17 17 so we got to get nine on

There so that would make that uh 97 is that right no I just don’t love going this full with the 54 but that thing can go 95 like if I really hit at it I just it’s not a shot that I’m going for that I feel comfortable but I have it these are

Pretty these are pretty big gaps so you might have to have we might have to have four shots within here on the on this but then when you get up in here these are perfect so you got 120 125 130 and then you’ll have 130 135 40 and then you have

140 where do I put it behind yeah you know I’m not yeah so I I would I would look at your Gap in your shorter clubs you know I would try to get to where um why why do you go you like 60 around the greens like chipping bunkers

With those deep bunkers out here need that 60 yeah so I would try to get to where you got 15 yard gaps in here instead of having such big gaps so we’ll go so 105 so that’s 15 yards so that we go C so we’re going to start just for this

Exercise we’re going to start with your um 54 uh let’s start with your pitching wedge okay okay so just because the gapping I I would have to have more shots she’d have to have four shots in in some of these so I’m just going to skip that

We’re just going to go to the to these gaps here not to justify too but so interesting too like oh I I don’t have anybody that’s hitting too many full 60s I agree too many full 54s um and when I when I when I say full

It’s kind of the max they would play on the course yeah and it has to be hot downwind over a front bunker for the most time but being able to control your Spin and your and your and your distance so I mean that doesn’t mean standing there swinging through the fences seeing

How far you can hit it it’s like what would you do on the course where you felt you could control the ball in the spin and the trajectory and when you like the now like the 18 just because uh it gets hot and the ball’s flying a

Little bit it gets cold and it doesn’t so we just a little more borrow but it was interesting how similar we weree on that as far as the three shots yeah three three shots so so what I want you to do is we’re going to start out so

This would just be this would be what we call training we’re going to we’re going to have V hit um a full shot to 120 so go ahead and just hit a couple full ones and we got the GC quad so after you

Hit a v you can just tell us how far it went okay and you have to be honest too don’t don’t tell me every time you hit it 120 sounds Good it’s probably harder 28 28 yeah you that right hand got excited a little pumped up yeah okay what you say your right hand your right hand got excited we never talked about that before she was no never we out there never heard that beautiful oh multiple bowls detected

This is not my area of expertise so that so that might be you know not that you feeling any kind of pressure but adrenaline adrenaline a little bit you know so that’s those are good things to know right if you were just out here it by yourself you may not hit it that

Far say ta knows this like on Tuesday and and Wednesday say if your guys’s going 175 21 ball speed with their driver on Tuesday and Wednesday and then all of a sudden it’s Thursday morning and now it’s 182 with the same looking motion yeah and then last group on Sunday now

It’s like 184 185 with like even less of a motion and you’re like trying to Puff the brakes so they can be under control but it’s amazing how adrenaline can make that happen 100% agree with that you got it geared back now I think so when you feel that if you

Felt that 120 120 bingo so the first do you feel like you’re swinging it easier there um I felt like yeah the first one was hotter the right hand got excited a little bit more speed at the bottom okay so that’s something you know in the back of your

Mind you need to understand and monitor that so that you know if you if you’re on the last hole and you’re trying to hit a hard pitching wedge and there’s water on the left you know you might have to may you go to the the next shot

I’m going to show you yeah okay so that’s the top end so we’ve got the full pitching wedge at 120 20 so now I want you to take that pitching wedge and hit at 105 which is what your U wedge goes full but so what what adjustments would

You make to to hit at 105 I like to grip it a little shorter I like to open up the stance and hit it more like a like a chiy shot well cuz 105 it’s 15 yards it’s quite a lot okay so it has to be small the swing gets smaller yeah and

Jamie has this thing that he always says like swing like Freddy every time I’m swinging those short shots and I’m taking off yeah just because I can get too like fast at the bottom yeah you know so um that helps me with the speed and just stay in Tempo okay so let’s see

You hit one 105 so grip down what about an inch yeah okay 102 it’s good so that’s three yards right that’s 9 ft that’s very acceptable okay one more 105 so what I’ll what I’ll work with a player on and everyone they’re all a little bit different but we have to find

A way to get to that number um so I’ll normally have them grip down a little bit and what I have them do is kind of feel what I call shoulder Tosh shoulder so kind of shoulder High abbreviate abbreviate on both sides and then just

Try to get that feel until they can hit at 105 but she kind of said that in her own in her own way no hot that’s not Freddy yeah that’s long one 14 is when you turn it down like that yeah gives a little more

Oh2 y there you go okay now the mid one what would you do to hit it 113 for that one I like my STS a little more Square um 113 I still will grip it a little shorter and just still the swing gets shorter but very similar length of the

That one but just those adjustments of being more open more regular Sands and um the grip just a little bit longer so try to grip it on the end and make the same swing see what happens do the same thing you just did but just grip it on the

End same same motion you just made with with the can I put normal stance you can normal stance normal stance and just do that same motion just made for that 105 but just grip it on the end it’s got to be pretty close 12 yeah I like the tooth yeah very

Good okay so now we’re going to take the same uh we’re going to take the same procedure and let’s go to your eight iron yeah it’s still right there I think I have an eight yeah you got it okay and I want you to go we’ll

Go backwards this time so I want you to do the grip down Freddy if you want to call it that okay and I want a 130 shot 130 so grip it down an inch and and do your your Freddy feel it just feels a little little

Shorter most players shorter I I do feel so I have a long swing yep so there is a bunch of different lengths that I can play around yeah um so I think the big thing is when most what happens when most players try to take something off a shot what

They hook it right so I think that’s you know you can go a little shorter but you just can’t add that hit at the bottom you got to feel you know whatever you want to feel like with Freddy you just can’t have that right hand’s got to behave yes too short short

What was that one 18 17 okay it would be a really good one for you it’s not procedure for her ever and you wouldn’t see it aesthetically with procedure but for her like being hot is hot and she can run hot uh for frustration she can run hot for

Excitement she can run hot when she’s running bra and when she’s Fest she’s lazy and it’s like she’s barely doing anything she’s so fit she can barely move and make it so if if I gave you her as you know this is your student now I’m gonna I’m gonna sell you

Later anyways what’s if I was if I gave you her and she was your student and you were playing in a tournament and she was warming up right now and you were trying to take her down what would you do I would and it’s not technique like it’s

It’s not technique well I would just tell her that she’s got to feel like she’s swinging less than what she thinks she needs to yeah you know feel like that’s that’s pretty much what it feels feel like you I just have to get really into

A little Bobble in my head yeah when I really want to make them short yeah because and I have to remind myself I’m strong any hot pressure I put the club has no chance so you got to feel like you’re probably swinging what 75% power or

Less more like 50 if I’m taking 50% Okay better and this is a really good time with 200 of the most scrutinizing people I know that are all really good golf coaches to try to feel like you’re going to sleep out here this is just great for you with one of the best coaches in the world what was that one

37 so I want you to do I want you to do the lazy swing but I want you to have a what you feel is a fade fade feel fade feel okay 50% power grip down an inch and give me what you feel is Fade to straight feel what whatever that is for You nice there that’s better but 26 26 so that’s that’s four yards how many feet is that 12 in Alabama it’s 12 in Alabama I just want to see it’s the same out here it’s not the same out here trust me 12% is the taxes on top of everything yeah

Going to going to 14 yeah yeah so that that you know one of your thoughts is to take the right hand out right so what’s a good feel for doing that for you I think that would be the just put in it very light I like to think

Of a bird like that sensation very like so grip pressure is a very interesting thing right so there’s a story about Dave Maher a lot of you probably know who Dave Maher was he won the PGA he was was playing a practice round and he was playing terrible and the guy he was

Playing with told him he says you know Dave at the top you’re letting go of the club said you got to grip grip it a little firmer with the last three fingers left hand because the club’s coming loose at the top so he changed it gripped a little firmer end up winning a

Tournament so a few weeks later couple months go by they’re playing again he goes God you’re so tight at the top you’re not even set in the club so he he said what do I need to do he said you need to lighten your grip pressure a little bit

Plays that week wins so he won two tournaments one time gripping it firm one time gripping it loose so it it’s that’s a that’s a very personal type thing because what feels really light to you may not be light but I think more importantly is that if you start light

And then you apply Force right that’s when that face is going to shut so you can only grip it as light as you feel you can maintain it throughout the swing because if you start light and then you apply any kind of pressure if you get too much it might

Hold the face open but if you put pressure where you get a lot of face rotation it’s going to go left so understanding that again what are your Tendencies your Tendencies are when you try to hit it shorter tends to go left so maybe on your shorter shots trying to

Feel maybe not quite so light but trying to feel constant constant okay so whatever pressure it’s like a clamp you clamp your hand on there and you maintain that pressure all the way through the swing you don’t have it change at all during the swing does that

Make sense tottally same shot same shot see if you can get it you get within three last time yeah no four beautiful pretty really nice 31 very nice thank you that’s really good okay so now now you go to your mid what I call the mid number I call the

Bottom number crossover because it crosses over the club below the top number is full and then the the one in the middle is called the mid so it’s a 35 shot so that’s the grip it on the end and make the same motion turned it a little bit 42 yeah because of that

Yep so what would be a a thought that would help you not use your right hand so much a thought other than grip pressure or a feel well it varies sometimes feeling like the lower body goes quicker helps me quet down that right hand um sometimes it helps to feel more like

Back to Target when I’m top and feeling like I just let it drop Lacy like before the ball forget kind of there is a ball there put your put your hand out in front of you like that no I want you to push into my hand

Yeah now what does your body want to do when you push into my hand lean towards it what do your hips want to do turn yeah so push and turn feel that yeah so you’re pushing you’re pushing into the grip you’re not pushing around the grip okay so when you

Hold that club up push against my shoe see how you’re pushing into the grip yeah you’re not pushing around the grip around the grip what’s that love that so push push more into the grip same Rhythm just try to feel like that right hand’s pushing more against the side of the grip yep

Okay little more got to push it in there a little bit more a little bit longer yeah that’s a good point do it more than you think you need to until you see the ball go the other way okay feel like you keep the back of

The hand on the back of the shaft until the ball doesn’t go left just overdo it pretty pretty so one of one of the things I’ll do with a player if I if I see a pattern that I don’t like as I’ll try to get them to go too much the other

Way anybody ever shoot sight a rifle so what do you do when you sight a rifle if if it’s down if it’s low left if you’re shooting at the Target and it’s low left then you want to be high right and then you go in the middle right so for

Her just exaggerate that feel until the ball doesn’t go left and then hit a few okay so give me a couple more where you just exaggerate the feeling going through the ball that you you keep that hand on the just pushing on the back of the shaft as you go through until the

Ball doesn’t go left and then you’ll know you you did too Much okay am I still trying to hit 135 yep okay CU I think in your full swing you’re you’re probably better when you try to take something off it’s when that hand wants to turn a little bit too soon so that hand’s going to feel through impact to you it’s going to

Feel like your hand stays this way way longer okay until it doesn’t hook because you know the toes got to be passing the heel right yep and it may have to feel that way for a little while cuz the only way you can hit the

Ball left is if you hit what part of the ball so there’s the only way you can hit the ball left is if you hit where the outside part of the ball right here yep and you’re not coming over the over the plane you’re hitting it because the club face is

Turning that way okay so keeping that hand on the side and trying to hit the inside part of the ball won ball won’t go left you hit the inside part of the ball with that right hand the way I showed you it shouldn’t go left ready yeah ready okay so I would

Have her hit these numbers until she can feels she could hit them all and then what I’ll do is I’ll take I’ll take three clubs okay so I’ll go we’ll do nine to se or we’ll do uh we’ll do nine we’ll do these numbers right here nine to seven iron okay so

I’ll have her hit one ball to each number and obviously there’s going to be a couple of them we’ll do twice but one time I’ll tell her hit the full one time I’ll tell her hit crossover and she’s got to get plus or minus three

Yards um and we do 10 shots she’s got to get six out of 10 or if we had a or I’ll do sometimes I’ll do um less than 200 feet you know so you just total up how far how far off she is so all right so we’re going to

Start out let’s start out with uh 150 full seven iron okay so this is where we’re going we were training now we’re going into a into a testing musle 58 yeah that left okay let’s do uh eight iron eight iron we’re going to do 130 shot that’s

Your bottom number so that’s your grip down an inch okay Freddy holding yep more of a hold feel there we go got it on the other side what was that one 34 34 just missed uh let’s do a 125 with a nine we got this that’s your mid number that’s my M number

Okay that was nice nice very nice there 21 31 21 21 you’re just missing okay let’s do uh 140 full eight 40 140 thank you okay uh let’s do 129 IR thank you nice pretty 21 21 yeah you’re on a roll all right let’s do uh does it feel different now you feel different you feel different yeah I’m just imagining shots in the golf course yeah I was

Going to say like a couple things today like the best I’ve seen her play I’ve been with her like chatting for maybe eight times when she’s won a tournament someplace and I don’t know what the tournament was something up at whatever they call it now tuck Wick Canyon or

Morango and it was a 54 Four Hole tournament I think she won by seven or eight shots and that week we didn’t use the yardage like I got the yardage but didn’t tell her the yardage and on the Range she had like this little like slow

Motion swing and then I just said I’m GNA hand you that club and then hit that slow motion swing at that and she did that the whole time without worrying about the number and sometimes she gets Bound in with that yeah there there’s a point where I think she’ll hit enough

Where she says if she hit 10 in a row and she okay I feel 120 now now you know what 120 is and she can just get up and do it but or the sensation of the Swing you know without having to think okay

This has got to be a hard one using full with her or big or hard or small sometimes it isn’t the best Gomen clature well I think I think it’s important because a lot of players will tell me oh I can feel all the numbers well it if you have three numbers you

Know you can feel and you can hit right if you have those three what I call stock numbers then you can feel the ones in between so if I have to hit at 135 okay I know what that is if I have to hit at 132 it’s just a little more than

My 130 I would say DJ wouldn’t you say too he revolutionized that for everybody too yeah exactly like DJ when you first got a launch monitor out it there he just had a shop that he needed to hit 100 yards and he wouldn’t stop until he

Hit it 100 yards and then he would subtract and he would add to it and that’s what he did every day and then everybody started doing that well as she’s hit more shots she’s starting to understand what yeah what feel is producing that number right you I don’t

Want you to think about the number I want you to think about if I feel this it’s going that distance as opposed the other way around like trying to make it go that distance okay let’s do uh let’s do a one uh 140 with a seven

And you know what I’m doing it may not you know I I don’t work with v so I would if I knew a little bit more about her my Approach might be slightly different I’m just kind of doing the generic thing and I have my my co- teer

Over there helping me out filling in the gaps for me I’m actually Brett’s assistant uh real quickly on that too how about it for Brett Le right plagued off for 10 years and then started coaching four years ago and Miss Lilia Vu this year two majors and another Tour event for

Three Tournament victories um his third or fourth year into coaching Golf and it’s a pleasure to watch him not only coach her and do a great job but with our membership they love him and he’s made our membership which is a golf club a way better membership as far as

Playing nice work Buddy y good job okay 140 okay beautiful pretty 44 44 man you missed a CLE them by a yard all right so I don’t want to get too bogged down on this I want to kind of move on to something else is that all right whatever you want it’s

Your show I’m just it’s your place though I want to make sure I’m not we’re going to invite you back everybody kind of get the idea on this let’s I want to do a couple other things so we okay so once I kind of have them dialed in on

Being able to control their distance now if she didn’t if she didn’t pass this one then uh she’d have to do it again so you can see she she nailed this one she was short on this one long on this one nailed this one long long so

Just Tendencies you know but the long was a more of a result of the Swing as opposed to the the technique as to how to do it she just Mis align the club face so once I kind of have that then the next thing I start working on is

Trying to get the ball um to work to left pins and right pins so the pin’s not always in the center of the green so how are you going to play to a left pin how are you going to play to a right pin now some players hit one shot you know

Either Fades or draws that’s all they hit other players will work the ball into the into the flag but I don’t want them making that decision on the Fly I want them to have practice that and understanding what their Tendencies are to different pins right so what we’re

Going to do is we um we’re going to hit five balls since you like to hit a draw we’re going to go to a left pin how’s that do I really like a draw all right so we’re going to go um let’s see what we can use out here

We’ll go to the uh to this flag on the left over here V okay um you want to shoot it well actually we’ll just Do’s let’s just assume that this we’ll go to this one straight out but the ball has to start uh inside the right edge of the green

And it can’t go left to the pin okay okay so just imagine that’s on the very left side of the green all right so you’re going to get five balls they get three points per ball one point if you hit a solid one point if it starts in the area and one

Point if it finishes in the area so we’re going to hit five shots this is Imagine as a left pin yeah start it right into the green and don’t let it cross left yeah you can’t finish left so it’s got to start inside the uh yeah copy yep and you got

To get 11 points to pass 11 out of 15 cool okay and what number what are uh what do you want hit eight iron that’s good I like them all now the the the width of that would would vary based on the club so this is just to teach the player

To keep the club on the right side the proper side of the whole location solid yeah nice thanks three points cool and you do this five times yep you do that five times and then if she if she gets to 11 then we do the opposite practice to a flag whole

Location on the right side of the green that’s two points minus two two points get on that started in how many points you need 11 pass yep you got you got five that started does that give you one chance to ER excuse me so you got you got one point cuz you

Started at right of the flag and you hit it solid right okay that’s two but it finished left of it so you didn’t get the third point so to get three points the boss to start inside the right side of the green and it’s got a finish on the right side of

The whole location and you have to hit it solid you with me so I’m drawing it cool nice shot so other words I wouldn’t want her to be able to stand their name over that bu right there hook you got to keep those always fairly tight how many you get on that one

Two I knew we’ get there eventually not not from Alabama like I’m just trying to BL I never we kid V about like her cute accent and her English is now better than Brett’s and mine but uh that wasn’t really a big leap to do that but one

Time she was like shipping something to her family in Miami and she came in my office and said I need to chip this to Miami and her short game was weird at that time and I’m like well you’re going to be a lot better by the time you get

There and she goes I need to chip this I’m like chip what he trying to ship a box to Miami but it’s probably a better way to good make make your short game better right ta yes just chip there chip all the way to Miami yeah all right

You’re at uh see 332 that’s 8 you get a three-pointer here and then you pass the drill beautiful nice really good good swings very good you’re doing this with uh Tour player to anybody that can be repeat yep all the way through all the way through now we’re going to flip it

So what do you do to a whole location on the right side of the green what’s your normal procedure for that um I like holding okay like the sensation of just a ho I’m not expecting a big cut but not but definitely trying to so let’s do the same thing let’s let’s

Start it inside that left side of that green and the left side of the green towards the pin and it can’t go and it can’t go right of the whole location okay and then we’ll do a couple driving things and then we’ll be about done Two remember you got the wind off the right a little bit too yeah so how much if you were playing in a tournament how much would you challenge that ho would you give me more what else is if there was water to the right of the of the ho

Maybe 10 yards right of the flag or a big deep bunker over there with the wind coming off the right like this how much would you challenge that flag would you feel comfortable kind of going right at it let the wind bring it over there I kind of do or

Would you try to go a little more left and hold no just barely left like kind of like that telephone pole back there okay I’m just trying to get the idea what you see okay good thank you no that was helpful that’s good I have a question for you on this

Yes so let’s say that you’re trending her left like that she’s doing you’re doing great by way thank you um anyways uh so let’s say we’re trying to Trend laugh she starts window maybe she’s saying I want to maybe bleed a little bit to the right or whatever hold it so

Let’s say she hits her window but it’s turning a fair amount right to left MH so what is your level of sort of I don’t want to use concern me but what is your level of attention regarding that anytime I see the ball with an eight

Iron curving a lot I’m concerned okay so she hit her window I don’t like that I don’t I don’t like it because if it starts off the line of the too far off line there has to be some well I’m saying she hit her window but the ball

Didn’t move the way moved too much no no no it just moved the other way than what she was thinking of or trying to uh I’d be a little concerned but not overly I mean that might just be here instinctively trying to put the ball in

That area Ro I told these guys this I told Boyd and ta this yesterday but um this range out here it was a literally like a junkyard when we first got out here we dug up a 1959 Buick that was in the ground out here and we used it as

Our shag range but what I love about this range is it comes the wind you know perally comes or uh right off of Palace rties and it all blows like this a little right wind it’s a perfect wind to actually hit in and then we just used

This as a shag range forever and then a couple years ago we made this big giant 400 yard double-sided driving range but in the meantime we used that area over there and we called that Patrick’s alley and Patrick and I put those uh stumps apart they’re 10 yards apart uh over

There and they go for 240 yards down there and um I told these guys that and they both took pictures of it he would hit into this wind all the time and he was a drawer when he was young U more draw than you probably like to see when

He was young but he was the number one amater and then um we’d start out middle middle middle middle and then we’d go to the left hole location let the ball spin over the left hole location off the wind and then the harder the wind goes we’d

Go the right hole location and when he transitioned from very good amateur to you know being who he is now we had a session one time where he hit his whole shag bag which was a lot of balls for him he normally doesn’t hit that many

And every ball was inside the stumps for 20 yard increments all the way down with his Shades to the right hole location better than the left hole location and the thing that I love about that is it gives you just that visual of doing that I would argue swing mechanics with her

Aren’t going to work but if you put her in there and said don’t lose one of your balls out there yeah um that would be the deal and the last thing I was going to say youall have the opportunity to make your place that you coach golf at

Better uh even you know I know like ry’s doing it indoors now but it keeps getting better what he’s doing indoors so if you have a place where you can hit balls and you can talk whoever the power to be is in order of making your practice facilities better uh you’re one

Step ahead of the game and when we got here like and I told the board about doing this nobody wants to do it but now everybody wants to do it and they love it and we just can keep trying to make them better yeah yeah so if if this this

Going to right hole location is going to help her swing without really telling her anything she’s going to have to figure out how to do it and I think with good players when they figure it out she’ll figure out her own feels to do it you know versus me telling her what to

Do she hits enough of them over there left and keeps having to do this drill she’ll figure it out so what you at five now now does that feel like a hold swing to you I I felt the right hand for sure like it fell hold with the left but not

And the body but didn’t feel hold with the head you felt more of this instead of yeah okay you got two on that one so you’re at uh seven okay so you got make sure this one goes right no matter what hold on to it forever make sure it goes right you

Haven’t hit one right yet it’s not going to go over there and if you do you can fire Brett fire okay last ball yes sir right for right for keep the elbow this way absolutely hit the inside part of the ball forarm y got bger muscle that yeah she’s got to get out of out of doing this too much the top get more of that use that of the forearm

Yep yeah there’s a lot of ways you can do it you just got to find the way way that works that’s a good point though very good point so that’s a tough pin for her so that would be something that she would she would practice until she could feel

Comfortable hitting to this whole location as well as the other one the other one was easier right this one’s more difficult yeah I I just you’re afraid of hitting I wouldn’t play that shot you know like I’m not trying to I don’t know would you feel more

Comfortable aiming the flag so you you and if there’s water over there you’d feel comfortable hitting the water and hooking it no but I still aim just right of the pin yeah and let but this would not hurt you pring no for sure no I I do think it’s great okay anybody have

Questions about this so we worked on the distance control we worked on controlling the the uh start line and finish line with her you wouldn’t work on plane at all or like half well you know she’s Jamie student so I’m not gonna get too much I

I would uh it was the same thing over and over besides it’s really I don’t think it’s her path I think it’s her Club face alignment yeah I mean when when she’s hot she’s going to do that the hard thing is when she’s on point like it’s

Relative to plain line it’s relative to squareness all the way through yeah she just going to turn her hand over as hard as she could and if he wasn’t here I would be like you know yell go ahead and take your setup right there okay take

Your setup to that hit that golf ball 50 yard right okay now like don’t take all day to do it hit it 50 yards right no matter what okay good that’s uh 14 yards right so you still got like another 306 and would do that until she

Get that and we’ve done that warming up for a tournament and I also think that tone has to happen like he listened to that tone since he was a little kid you know the hey you know sweetheart it’s just turning over a little bit because once it manifests then all a sudden

You’re in trouble you know yeah so yeah mechanically you know it’s what I would I call face pull you’d DRP in the face so yeah you’d work on you know Jamie would talk maybe about the right hand you might work on the right elbow you might you know put a ball between your

Arms and have her do some of that just anything to eliminate I’ve seen her play nine holes without her thumb and finger on the club and never miss a shot to the left and never miss a shot right yeah I agree I mean want to go to driver yeah

Let’s hit a few drivers so a driver drill uh I just want to show you this and then we’ll have time for a couple questions if you have them it’s back there so what I’ll do with the drivers I’ll I’ll create a fairway so we’ll just kind of do like

The we’ll do this Fairway here where these two bunkers are just straight out so the red flag is the center of the Fairway and I’ll have her hit um red or checkered the checkered one I’m sorry so just that’s the middle of the Fairway and those bunkers on either side are

Kind of the edges of the Fairway so I’ll start out and uh I there’s three shots I like to have my players have with a driver one would just be their stock whatever their stock drivve is and then one would be what I call send it driver

Where they want to try to hit one hard and then a fairway finder so three different shots they play so I’ll just have her hit a couple just hit your stock driver for me V just between those beautiful SAR thank you so that would be the stock shot now if if I told

You you needed another 20 yards on your driver you get a wide open par five and if you can get another 10 or 20 out of it downwind go ahead and hit one and I’ll have a track man here like a lot of with the Juniors and I’ll just

See what kind of speeds they can generate get them trying to hit the ball hard cuz my my theory is if if her full out swing is 95 if I can get her to practice and get that full out swing up to 100 she’ll probably play at 95 but if her full out swings 95 she’s going to play at 92 or 93 probably swing very good thank you yeah that’s good how much

Faster dang 24 246 carry the other one was 247 247 sometimes that happens I swing harder and it doesn’t go so you know being able to control that speed and have that speed when you need it in this day and age is really important so you have to train that you can’t just

You can’t just swing 95 all the time you know swing at 100 if they hit it bad get it up to 100 get them to feel what it feels like at 100 and then they can dial it back to 97 98 whatever they feel comfortable playing at okay then so that

Would be number two and then number three would just be a fairway finder so imagine that there’s water on both sides of that checker flag what would you do to hit the Fairway tee it down I like it yes not super High um and then this be still a little draw

Or pretty straight or a little fade or no just hit it low it it’s going to go lower it’s going to probably draw a little bit right but it’s going to be very stable I think so when you know see I think sometimes for players it’s better to

Know where the ball’s not going than where it is going sometimes if you know it’s not going left or you know it’s not going right if you know it’s going to go there that’s beautiful perfect more stable definitely for driver to uh through the hitting area you know which on your question earlier

About do you work on pather plane like I would work on path or plane if the driver was going crooked yeah but if the driver’s going straight like it has the most degree of air there then at that you know it’s more hotness yeah the

Only reason I asked that was that I read a Freddy coup’s book a long time ago and he says when he when he wants it to pay he goes outside with it when he wants to hit a draw he comes inside hits a draw he doesn’t maneuver the face at all so

That’s why I was wondering is it different with each student yeah for sure you know Freddy’s such a you know he’s got that way out and drop under yeah so once she had those three shots and she was hitting them then what I would do is I create a fairway and I

Would say okay there’s trouble on the left so go ahead and set up so anything anything towards that left bunker over there is out of bounds so if she hits the Fairway she gets a point if she misses it on the safe side she doesn’t

Get any but she doesn’t lose any but if she misses it on the wrong side she loses to and I would have her hit she could she could just hit her stock ones and then I might throw in or I hit one hard hit a fairway finder just kind of

Vary it up and just get to where she knows the ball’s not going one place or the other So so she hit it more down that’s beautiful right side of the Fairway perfect then I would flip it have trouble be on the right and then I might say trouble on both sides and they got I normally have them to get to probably seven points so when they get up to five

Or six I normally put a trouble on both sides so they feel a little pressure and if they miss one they lose two then they got to keep going till they get to Seven but I guarantee you you get to six you feel a little bit of feel a little bit

Of pressure but the the key is is they’re doing it in practice so when they get into a tournament they know how their body reacts they know what the ball’s going to do and they can make whatever adjust they need too all right now trouble on both sides to

Finish how narrow she can go as long as she wants she could do it in seven balls or it might be 100 depending so I always make the last one trouble on both okay why to make it tougher you think it’s t how wide it’s as wide as those bunkers

The insides of those bunkers and I can make it more narrow if you get somebody who drives it really good you can bring it in and make it tougher I’m just trying to be nice on my first visit I’m going for those two telephone Poes uhoh oh I faded uhoh yeah standing over there so she’d have she’d lose two and she’d have to go back and try to hit two more Fair away great job thank you so much thanks for your help that was cool anybody have any any questions yes Sir I just have them keep doing it until they can hit it normally like if you hit enough if she stood here I guarantee if you stood here this afternoon and I gave her those numbers in about an hour she could tell you well for that one I went

From here to here it felt about like this and and she’d be able to do it with the wedges I I really didn’t get into the wedges I’m really big on uh what factors determine how far a ball goes speed length of swing speed Loft spin contact right so with within the

Gap I don’t like to see big variances on the different distances in other words with a 54 she should be somewhere around 35 to 37 Dees on her Dynamic Loft so if I see her hit the number at 41 and then the next time she hits the number at 35

And the next time she hits the number at 37 she’s not controlling that face at the bottom so she’s not controlling Loft she’s just getting lucky with the speed so if you can get where they deliver the Loft consistently then they just have to worry about really contact and uh and

Speed so I’m big on you know delivering that Loft consistently being able to get the ball to come out of the correct window so your driver what do you want you want High what right High launch low wedges you want High spin you want the opposite you

Want the ball coming out low with spin not running up the face you know a lot of players you know they try to hit the ball with their wedges by holding the angle and they come through and the club goes this way and the ball just runs up

The face and they hit the number but it goes way up in the air and it’s got like 30 or ex got like 3,000 RPMs a spin you know versus you know being shallow and having some lean and being able to cover it and get it to come out of a lower

Window reference to 164 big gaps there um do you or when do you like suggesting changing the law like going to a 58 well I would I I wouldn’t she probably needs her 60 because she plays here and if you looked at some of these bunkers around here she probably needs

That so what I would be looking at is okay what can I do with that 54 pitching wedge to get where she didn’t have 20 gaps I think you you want to have more gaps in the upper part of your set and less gaps in the bottom part of your set

I kind of throw the 60 out because it’s just kind of a specialty Club so I be looking at that 54u and pitching wedge and how can we get get those numbers how can we get that so the pitching wedge is going 120 which is good so we got to get

Our U wedge probably 105 is not terrible but that 54 might might need to be of how far can you hit that 54 95 yeah but then you get a gap there so she’s kind of a unique thing cuz she wants that 60 in there but normally I do

But I also have gotten really good with you so yeah I can take some off and yeah if she’s got she’s got a club some some players are really good with like a 54 so they’ll play four shots in that range versus so it all depends on the player

But personally I don’t like to see more than a 20- yard Gap because then you you can play four shots instead of three so you just have to add one more in there so like for me I have a my three if I go to those three I have a grip down one

Inch shoulder to- shoulder and I know the feel to make it go my bottom number and then I’ll if I want to hit the ball down lower I’ll uh I’ll grip down I’ll go shoulder um and full finish and then if I want to hit higher I’ll grip it on

The end and I’ll go shoulder full finish so I’ll I’ll shorten one side or the other and then I’ll vary the grip down if I want to hit it a little lower I grip it down a little bit more but normally for for me it’s shoulder Tosh

Shoulder for the bottom and then I either go full to shoulder or I go shoulder to full to get the mid number and then I have a feel that I can do to do that but you as long as you have a system some players have like with v we

Just grip down and she did shoulder Tosh shoulder for the bottom one and then she gripped it on the end and did kind of the same motion and then she has her full so she she just did it by changing the grip CU she only had to lose five

Yards but if you lose you lose seven or eight yards then you got to do something a little bit more Dramatic yes so I’m going to use a really exaggerated example just for the case study so anyone who’s ever watched Matthew wolf in person he’s unbelievably impressive yeah okay so except Brook kka doesn’t think he is he’s been struggling a little bit with his game so let’s see say he comes

To you and you got really extreme factors the weakest grip you’ve ever seen on player the crazy back swing that he’s made since he was eight years old yeah so how do you as the coach try to get to the bottom of okay he’s lost his

Game I need to get him back and resisting the urge to go oh I knew that ja would finally get it and it’s like no he’s been doing that his whole life well I don’t think you look at Aesthetics of the swing I think you look at more what

The ball’s doing and obviously his Ball’s he’s got to have a be going two-way Miss to be playing that way so you figure out what he’s not doing now that he was doing back then but if you if you look at his swing it’s an interesting swing his hand plane really

Doesn’t change his hands go here this way and then they come down this way it’s not like he has like a Fred Couples move where he goes way out so it’s hand doesn’t really change that much it’s just his wrist angles go from this way

To this way but his hands if you draw a circle around his hands going back they go back and then they come down in the same Circle but I think anytime if you took a guy like that and you tried to make him conventional you you’d ruin him

So you have to figure out what’s changed from when he was playing well and I guarantee you there’s he’s hitting it’s not so much his good shots change his bad shots probably Chang he’s hitting shots way offline and at that speed I mean if you m hit it a little bit it’s

Going way offline so I think any player you have to like Jamie and I were talking about this last night in my opinion every player has kind of a bell curve and they have certain things they do well when they play well and when they don’t play well they get outside

Their bell curve they’re doing neither too much like like V you know too much too much of this so you’ve got to get her back into the correct amount to eliminate that left shot and that’s all you’re doing you’re just trying to find a way to get her back into that like

Jamie you try to go way you know hit one way to the right you know what does that feel like or or you know try to get more pressure into the back of the shaft and drive it more forward or try to feel like the club stays more to the right of

Your hands or try to get your right elbow to drive more whatever it is and Jamie made a great comment last night he said he tells Patrick the same three three things but he has a hundred different ways of saying it so it doesn’t get stale so I don’t think new

Things come up I think the same things keep coming up and it’s just a question of getting those things under control to where they play well so that’s I think for Matt I think that’s what you try to do is figure out what where is the

Outside the bell curve of what he did when he played well and how can you get him back in there yeah so I think we were talking about V and I were talking about flip you know over rotation and Club head passing the hands are are two different

Things so for her I think she’s more of a over Rotator than she is a flipper so a flipper the shaft would be moving backwards as the club goes forward not flipper so yeah yeah yeah I mean if you could you could put a strong grip on I mean there’s a

Lot of different I I don’t know that I’d do that with a good player but with an average player you could you know start them off shut and try to get them to to open it through there but yeah I mean it just depends on the player I mean she

Seems like she’s super super sensitive to mechanics so I think you’d have to kind of keep things pretty simple and yeah no I agree with what you’re saying it just depends on whether the the student could make that transition and do it and I think some some would and some

Wouldn’t yes ma’am um you were explaining the use of the right hand but why not teach him how to use the left hand because it takes two hands to control the face Y and the left hand controls the heel of the CL you keep the heel leading with the left hand you

Could the only reason I did that is cu he he emphasized the right hand so I emphasize right hand but you’re exactly right we’ve done that we’ve done that a bu too yeah her most relay better with the right hand her problem is she can

Pick up the gym with both hands you know so literally like she’s quite strong as she should be for7 pounds so any little pressure changes it you know but we have had it with her with just her left hand too yeah so I mean leading with the left

The heel of the hand trying to I started Golf late and but I was a field hockey player oh and all the controls in the left hand yeah well I use this example a lot if you uh I I talk about the left hand being like the steering wheel on your car so

If this Lampkin is facing up and I turn the the wheel the car if I turn it left it’s going to go left turn it right it’s going to so if you keep the clip face here as long as that Lampkin stays up that face is stay Square to the ark it’s

When the Lampkin starts turning one way or the other where the car gets work the by kn my left hand controls the heel of the club and my right hand controls the toe of the CL okay and so I’m more I know my right hand knows what to do my

Left hand I have to maintain it control no doubt no doubt that lead hand keeping it in control keeping that heel from from getting past all right everybody um why to you can get them afterwards if you want we just want to St schedule okay all right you going to be okay with

That okay well fire um when you’re talking about shoving a club sideways with the right hand I teach that all the time and but then I feel like the ultimate thing is you know I watch all this stuff about how to turn down how to push it P push but then

Is when IAS wats depends on where you push if you push here you’re going to stick it in the ground because they have a wider the their right arm straightens earlier this way so they’re pushing here and then rotating there so their arms are long and the club’s low and they’re shallow

They’re not pushing at Impact well the the club has to we could do a whole if we start talking Theory we could be here for days but basically in my opinion when you get to the top as as you shift to your front side the arms have to lower this way so you lengthen

The club down and then you rotate it into the ball you don’t pull the club down first so you don’t see a lot of guys pulling the club now you see the arms the the right arm and the club are like tiger is very has a very wide

Release the club gets this way down and away from him and then from there he can just rotate through the hands are quieter it’s shallower angle of attack and you actually can create more speed like when dambo was trying to hit it far he was he was doing

This he wasn’t doing this and that’s what Pete talks a lot about that is is that the pressure in your body should promote this this everything pushes down and away from you but it doesn’t it doesn’t come down and then then push as you come from the top as

You’re unwinding your arm should lengthen and push so you got to get like with wedges that’s what I teach from the top I don’t I try to get players to understand that I want you to keep your height and lengthen the club with your

Arms to get the club down so you have a very level hand plane through impact that way you can be shallow you can deal off the club without making a divot but we could sit here and talk theories all day I was going to tell you

In what that we get to do for a living and all the cool places that we get to go To everybody in the indry I’ve never heard one B about him from an operating standpoint of the way that he’s from the clubs that he’s been out been among the best in the country and he’s respected by everybody on tour on every tour that you go on and it’s such a pleasure to

Have you here ta appreciate it thank you so much cherish our appr y I was going to tell everybody Boyd and ta and I have got to spend a lot of time together uh which I I cherish as well and and we’ve had a a good friendship and a good competitor uh

Ship as well too and there’s not one time when anybody doesn’t do good that he’s not one of the first person that text us or we don’t text him and we get to do that and last night um or yesterday all day and then last night I wish we would have taped our

Conversation uh between Boyd and ta and because we go about things completely different ways but we’re getting to the same place with completely different players so it’s really interesting for what you were saying there like you could talk about Theory all day long like the club that they were using was

Flexing a different way too for a couple of those guys in the way that the Sha flexing now so there’s so much stuff in there but I I want to congratulate you on your phenomenal career it’s a pleasure to have you up I appreciate you having me here than
