>> Hi, everybody. Welcome to hometown holidays on today. All day as we head into the holiday season, we can gather beloved chefs and friends of the today show to share their favorite festive memories and a delicious dish from there. Family table. All right. So we’re moving the main decide

Today. It is going to be all about the scrumptious sides. Weekly traveled all across the country to visit several folks ride home, for example, got Curtis Stone whipping up the perfect starter to celebrate all S-style Christmas. Layla Ali is sharing her sweet savory cornbread dressing and you do

Not want this. Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco making our recipe inspired by his ground. First up, I went to visit my good friend Chef Marcus Samuelsson at one of his Manhattan restaurants. Half of them are going up and Sweet. Marcus learned to cook with his grandma toga during the holidays. So he had plenty of

Delicious memories to share with us. >> Arkansas health. They welcome the home on the markets. You know, it’s the holidays, given me a sense of how you grew up. Well, I was born. >> In Ethiopia. And then at a very early my sister and I and

My birth mother, we got close to my mom passed away. The name I just got here. And then we got doctor to Sweden and I went from being the ones that guy to Marcus them. I went from eating injera hot stuff to Harry and boys with a so what would the

Holidays like for you? You know, growing up? Well, the holidays will actually my favorite time of the year because my grandmother, she was the food. In fact, the recall relatives came to Graham held a spouse and she just produced early November. And who is light

Always bred to be a saffron buns to be role herring. To be picked. Go always something right. And as you get closer to December and the December, the big Swede, the smorgasbord tied at and where this flight 7 about wearing 5 times the family spent. We hope that

Other and she made on it. When you’re an immigrant, you always have your foot in the old country, although you’re not there. And we kind of doing a hybrid at home, right with my 2 kids with my wife. They would always be some Swedes. Gloves will be the

Condition. Plus, of course, Thanksgiving Turkey. If there was only one thing that you could eat of your grandmother, what would it be as we zoom calls, what makes those Swedish meatballs stand out? Well, for most and we did middle-class family, put a grandparent coming up work for. And when you have the Swedish

Meatballs, you can really feel the positive, you know, this bread crumbs and there was a red coast because it was enough for me around. Everything was about filling out, right? He did tracking it, stretching it. That’s what the Swedish meatball really represent me.

>> So how do we get started with with Graham? I hope the yeah, we’ve got these. But the second we need to putting is actually land today only in the back on things better. And then we have bread crumb when putting some clean, you can start just started massaging that, yes, right

Where that is and saw, okay. Then again, the spice of the And then a little bit. Just human and just a flavor. Just a bunch of Mosul touch of on the morning, right? A little more fat. Yes. Tonight’s Golden Brown Garnett so that that’s not before.

Yeah, here comes the meatloaf competition and me welcome you to the way. And the key housing for many people is that should actually be bigger than you normally see them because if they’re too small, they’re going to dry up. Well, little bit bigger than a golf ball. I would say smaller

Than a baseball bat to begin bigger than a golf ball, right? Look at that. Nice lose. So we’ve got to meet false. They look delicious. We’re going to take place gloves off and I never get used to cook. Really going to go over here. Okay.

>> So Marcus is a combination. You have to have some oil and some butter, aunt and brother. >> And also not too many flaws in the past. I like to cook from the public face up to past the meatballs. We always have masks.

>> Going to put it quickly in France. Le Mans the other hand like that. >> And then we have a great we have a little bit of cream. I I I and this is kind of where my journey of the world comes to. Who’s going to add in chicken stock

Pickle juice I used to is having a moment having it all. And it’s going to be a hot topic. But here’s what I think still my freshman year, I felt like I’m having a little bit of me. So all right, a little bit more last and then breadcrumbs, right?

Just labors of lead can cause. I think we just got some of those together. Beautiful Grady ready. We almost ready to place to place to place. Now. We just got to grieve in left. And then we had those assessments leads. We have a little cry 6. I am Ken says,

Yes, just a little trickle down to something when it’s, you know, there would never be sweet smell without some pickles. I and one for me. I can do things without thinking about how fast all comfort, right from my whole. The yeah. Not good. Happy holidays.

>> And those people who are holiday party of your about. Up next, we’re going to head to Nashville where Country Star and cookbook author Jesse James Decker shows us not one but 2 ways to make bread will beautiful says. >> My love for the holiday started very early because my

Mom was very, very festive. And I really do feel like it trickle down to me and my siblings. Every year mom would make hot apple cider and she put on Christmas music and we would all decorate the tree. It was something really fun and

She would hand the ornaments us one by one. Now I carry this traditions over into my family. The kids love could be with me, especially forced he’s in love with cooking. He will bring me my cookbook and open it to the page. He wants to make

Something. We’ll just, you know, go to town. So much fun. It’s such a great thing you can do with children, some pregnant with our 4th baby. And it was such a special surprise. I love being pregnant around the holidays, especially because I can just east a little extra more. A new

Holiday tradition that I’ve started is my cranberry pull-apart bread. It’s so easy to do so easy to prep. But once it’s finished, I mean, it looks fancy it. It’s just perfect for everybody. The sweet, delicious cranberry pull-apart bread was such a hit.

I thought to myself, why don’t we expand upon this and do a variation of it to do a savory version? And so I started thinking of all. Thanks, Eric. Have a garden always got Rosemary Parsley, a little garlic owns, got tons of garlic. And so I just felt like, you know what?

We’ll see how this turns out. And it turned out all welcome to Nashville. I am so excited to share with you. 2 of my favorite recipes. The holidays are here. And so I have the perfect 2 side dishes that will just warm your family’s hearts. We’ve got a sweet and savory. We’re going

To start by Cuba and cutting the bread. There you go. It’s huge to perfection. Now we’re going to have mixing bowl. We’re going to start combining some of our ingredients. So we’re going to take our pecans brown sugar and dried cranberries, the butter.

We’re going to add a little bit of this orange zest. I just think it has a little such us some some and add a little bit of juice. Now we’re going to mix the ingredients. You can use your hands. You can use your for whatever feels, right. I think

It’s ready to put aside on the washing hands and we’re going to get to step in the Brie. All right. Tell us time to start filling low. You’re just going to stop as much as you can in between each little year. There’s going to be a point in time. We’re

Going to be like, is that enough? Should I give up? But you don’t. You find every single crack and crevice. You can and you just keep stuff in. Now it’s time to start stuck in the Crumley stuff last little bit. And the last thing we’re going to do,

So now that this week version of this is finished, I’m going to show you my savory version for those that like a little bit of a salty flavor. So we’ve pre cut and cubed are bred just like I showed you before. But this time we’re actually going to start

Stuffing it with debris. First, we’re so close last one. Now it’s time to make the delicious savory or butter. We’re going to throw a little garlic parsley. Now. It’s time to spread the herb butter onto the front. We’re going to paint this on all over

When last they were going to do is we’re going to cover it with our mozzarella cheese. Gorgeous. Try to join its sweet low friend over there. I like to cover with tin foil because the top will get a little Chris. All right, Sean, these funds are going in the oven.

We’re all finished and they’re absolutely ready now to guard And now drum roll for my favorite part of the taste. when you look at that. >> Well, a lot to take the selected the whole thing. You’re going to watch everyone just tear this thing apart

And fight over that very last bite because it is just that I hope you’ll enjoy these recipes. They are such a tradition in my home and I hope it become one for you guys as well. So job a Merry Christmas. Happy holidays and I’ll see you all soon.

>> Stick around for more. Showstopping sides will be right back. Now top chef Judge Gail Simmons certainly knows a thing or 2 about creating an elevated culinary experience. Up next, she sharing a twist on traditional Hanukkah lot to us. And later, chef Jordan and enough is going to whip up

Care. It’s like you have never seen before. >> Sharing the food. That’s important to me, I think shows who I am, my my heritage, my history. I think that there’s like so many ways of making food as an offering of peace to

The world. I grew up with food is a really huge focus of my life. My mother was actually a cooking teacher. She ran a couple school out of our home. And I was very little. We spent all our time in the kitchen with her theirs, dozens of

Dishes that I have memories of her making her child for all different occasions. You know, holidays, certainly more locations where we ate very memorable food because it was a tradition in my house. We really celebrate Hanukkah in the same way we play with cradles and Hanukkah gelt.

We give gifts that small gifts. You know, Annika Press was never really about gift giving. It was more about being together. And then we always have a big kind of the fees mentally to light the candles for 8 nights. But we’ve come up

With oil, which is why let those it’s not so much about the potato that made with its more about the boy on the air Friday making lot cause was a big deal in my house. We would walk into the house probably 2 weeks before I after school and smell. That’s now

It’s such in my head, the most iconic smell of the season. Today. I’m making a bit of an elevated play on a traditional Hanukkah lot cat. Usually we just use potatoes and onions, but I’m news. >> Parsons which add a mellow, delicious sweetness to them.

And then the top elect as with some very special celebratory ingredients for an adult present. I start by peeling one russet potato and put into the food processor with 2 shallots when the potatoes and onions have been shredded and the drainage hollander over a bowl for a few minutes and then

Well, these are training austrac my purse next. If you don’t have a food processor, you can absolutely the news, a box grater, which is more traditionally what does that have been made and then we’re going to mix the potatoes and the price of all together with that, mister.

And then I’m going to add my binding agents, my egg flour, a little baking powder and salt while mixing all the ingredients together, I’m also getting my oil. I have about a quarter inch of vegetable oil in a heavy bottomed and on my

Stove top and I’m going to let it come up to it. Now it’s time to make the lake as I walked into the light and fluffy certain using a big table spoon and I like to keep it flattened on the spin it off. Also do a little squish year to squeeze

Out any excess liquid. And then I’m just playing slide it We can flatten it down a bit, too. You want the oil to come up half to three-quarters of the way around a lot. So you can see that it’s over with and start to pop.

You know, they are ready when they start to get really nice golden Brown around the edges. We can give that one. And there you go. You can see it’s perfect cooking old. And that takes about 3 to 4 minutes per side for about 7 minutes of

Black people. See how the deadly couple times we’re right on a paper towel and wait and then sprinkle a little bit of salt, whether someone. >> You could keep these just as they are and they would be fantastic. But if I’m having a holiday party, I like to dress

Them up a little bit. Give them a bit of an adult spends. So have a few of my favorite celebratory ingredients here, cram fashion and take a little bit. You can obviously sour cream. What we really know, rich and delicious specially on the lookout.

I have a few different types of smoke fish. I have smoked trout and I have some salmon and then I’m going to put on some travel row and some are this is actually fennel fronds. The tops of the final ball. You can also be bill and really tender.

And here you go. Perfect. Celebratory holiday. Appetizer side Dish Mike Parson said that left as with smoked fish and our a perfectly fried lot. Cat Connick is exactly what I crave to me. There is nothing more delicious that represents my heritage and wishing you a safe, peaceful and festive holiday season. Cheers, everyone.

>> I would say that because of the style of household, a gruff when we’ll call it traditional. I would say food is the love language. My skills and cooking came from 2 people. My grandmother on the left as we like to call it. But I look at the Filipino national language

And then my dad, I just love cooking with them. It was a way for us to bond and I can just see that they love me if they didn’t necessarily stand as often as I’d like, is the central focus of our holiday parties. Yes, we’re gathering to spend time with

People we love and adore, but it was always centered around food every single time. >> This is the first part is you get to spend with my little I get emotional even thinking about it because I didn’t know still all the traditions that I’ve been practicing. 35 years.

>> I’m her since I grew up and got my own family and friends giving us. And that’s my way of bringing the tradition of my family back to the mind that working people who I know and love. Now they always asking what can I bring anything I’m

Like, no, don’t bring anything. I’ll do it all. That’s how is your love? I show my love through food. I like when people come to my thanksgiving dinners and holiday dinners and they go to ruin dinner parties for me because the food is so good, the atmosphere so that the

Biden so that kind of like let’s go baby. Haha. So I couldn’t. Today is a charred maple glazed carrots. And it’s actually a real from what I used to make with my dad and my grandmother going up. They do is take action. Mix it

With oil on brown sugar, maple syrup, salt, pepper, get you’d like a nice chart and that labor has always stuck with me. All right, everyone. I am in the carriage house kitchen and right now and show you how to make the maple charred heirloom carrot dish.

So I’m carrots here. I removed the tops and what you’re going to do is just get cut them on a diagonal buyers to help from the roasting process cooking time and worth of them into a mixing bowl. And I love using the style of care. It’s

Specifically and carrots gives you different dynamic. The presentation and of course, color local flavor. So once you have your little mix posted up in here, we’re going to take your vinaigrette, which is a maple syrup. Vinaigrette has a little bit of other spices and oil and their little salt and pepper.

And once it’s done, we’re going to do that right onto roasting pan and then that eventually is going to the other. While that happens, we’re going to use this mental in here to get our heirloom carrots ribbons so that it will be an equitable

Garnish that also mimics the face of flavor from the dish. So here’s your carrots and put them in the oven to roast them until their charred and black high temperatures about 10 to 15 minutes at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. All right. So the next step we’re going to take all of

These delicious cheeses in a car that out with moves to take some feta cheese, mascarpone cheese and then you take some a smooth ricotta. Put that in as well. Super easy to blend that until smooth and combined. All right. This is done. We’ll put this off to the side

And now I’m making the carrot top pesto. So I want to do is I’m going to take these carrot tops that we reserve from the beginning of the preparation of this dish. I’m going to put that in a blender and then we’re going to buy it with salt pepper and a little

Bit of all the beauty about this garnish is that it’s delicious, it’s for patients. And it also gives you that kind of earthy, greener flavor of carrot. Top of the roasted carrots reinforce it. And here’s that flavor that was going to blend until smooth how to get that

Charred carrots. But that in for the save and invest their real student compound that flavor a little bit. That’s where into a little salt, a little bit of pepper. So now this is ready to rock. So what’s on the plate?

We can then give it a little bit of a lake by next year. Next, we’re going to take the moves that we made to put the piping bag. One is going to give it a little bit of dollars all around and we’re going to give it a little bit that carrot top pesto

And the sprinkled all around and last but not least pair of talks as a garnish this dish to meet. This represents togetherness that represents my friendsgiving is in the eating all the people that I love and care about. So this right here is really my

Heart. My home by Heritage shared with you and should all my friends. head to Atlanta where boxing champ Layla Ali is making a dish that you’re to be a real knockout, but your holiday table. >> People often ask me what my childhood was like. I’m being

That my father was a global icon and we can go anywhere without him being recognized. You can imagine was pretty interesting. But I just remember have a lot of love in our family. We have this huge diamond table. So you can imagine the spread that would be on that table for the

Holiday seasons. We’ve have family and friends over and there would be so much food on the table. And then as I grew older, I started teaching myself how to cook when I was about 8 or 9 years old, what I decide to become a boxer and

Said what is going to take to be a world champion. That’s when I first learned about how important the food that I was. It’s nice to be over prepared meals for my kids. Now we’re still eating some of the foods that I grew up on, right?

My son loves Mac and cheese in the my daughter is always looking for her part of Greene’s and really seeing them devour it and love it. You know, that’s really what just warms my heart dressing is one of those dishes that I grew up

Eating many different versions. That’s not that hard to make. You can make it on a on a regular basis. But this is not special. If you do. That is just one of those things is wanted for the holidays. It is just so delicious. And I actually want some right now.

Welcome to my kitchen. I’m so excited to have you here. And I’m going to show you how I make my favorite holiday side, which is my sweet and savory cornbread dressing. The first thing I would do is shop up these veggies. I want to start with some celery

And I want to chop up this green onion. It really is a preference on how much you want to use. I like a lot of time. This is a sweet onion. There are so many different types of finance that you can use. I definitely like to use at least 2 types of finance.

Okay. So the next thing I want to do is I’m going to start working on my herbs. And I actually have some fresh herbs in my garden. We’re really excited about because they smell so fragrant right now. They’re not cooking in one of the herbs that I absolutely cannot make this dish without

Is saying this. Sage is just so are thieves. Also have some fresh Rosemary Snell subcommittee. Now we’re going to go ahead and prepare this time on. Some of these would hear stands. I make sure to prove the leaves off, OK? So we have our veggies chopped up. We have our herbs

Prepared and now ready to cook. And all right. I want to start by heating up. Some olive oil in the pan is on the go ahead and add veggies. The cookies for about 5 to 7 minutes until they really start to sweat and cook down.

Okay. So the babies are looking nice and soft. And now, you know, it’s time at the turkey. So I’m using ground Turkey about 2 pounds. >> But it really has a lot of nice flavors, specially use Turkey with that. You don’t want to get the lean turkey, garlic powder, onion powder.

>> Season assaults a little cayenne pepper for a nice little kick and I’m but also use some coconut a menos not only for the health benefit, but also the flavor has a nice sweetness. So you definitely want to break up this turkey while it’s cooking. Get everything mixed in together.

Okay. So the turkeys almost done cooking. So I’m gonna go ahead and add my fresh herbs. This adds so much flavor. All right. This is looking good. I’m gonna go ahead and turn the heat off. Well, this is going down. I’m going to put my cornbread, get my other ingredients ready.

So I like to use wheat corn bread because that is what’s going to give us the balance of sweet and savory. So we’ve got the sweet cornbread, got the savory turkey and veggie mixture. Then we’re going to add the egg and the chicken stock. And this is going to hydrate the corn bread.

So as I’m mixing, the cornbread is breaking down even further. And that’s OK, we’re not going to have big chunks here and it’s going to be nice and moist, but not one. So this is nice and mixed up. And I’m going to put in my

Baking dish now. You probably need about a 9 by 13 on using around issue. Want to make sure is not to do because you want to you wanted to cook. You want to be forced to be soggy in the middle. I’m gonna cover this with foil and bake it for about 35 minutes.

I cannot wait to taste this opp is nicely browned. The way that I like to look at that that is so delicious. You know what? I really hope that you try my recipe this holiday season because I guarantee that your family is going to love this.

>> Let’s hope you’re going to stick around because we’re going to be right back. are making your about what it all you have to do, we scan the QR code right here. All of these delicious recipes. Up next, we’ve got a little flavor from down under FOIA

Mate. Chef Curtis Stone is whipping up one of his favorite salad. 54 all S-style Christmas. >> Some the holidays are all about family, you know, got young kids. And they just have such a great time around the holidays and it makes you be a big kid with all the Christmas

Is a totally different because the middle of some. So, you know, on Christmas Day, you like for us before sitting down to have Christmas lunch and of course, for the holidays with cooking on the Bobby back in this trial for sure whether it’s dry, some beautiful, fresh seafood on there. We we

Normally start with some problems will shrink Christmas morning. Of course, so much traditional visit to have around the holidays have live on a pad live, of course, is a beautiful, big meringue, fresh crane, beautiful fruit over the top of it. It’s a really light summery kind of this is that.

But I kinda like 7 and no matter what with. Well, boys love being in the kitchen with especially on Christmas morning. It’s a great time when you can pull away from the president’s for a minute are normally give the one Dish H

That they’re responsible for. And then I get to say this is mine and this is how I might it make it to tell the whole type of battle that pretty proud of that from oil. And my my boys coach rushed for fun. She said that

She gets that Skinner’s Super Crispy called the crackling. And everyone 5 side of the crackling Friday, of course, to feed is is absolutely on that. And then all the traditional side. But a couple of herself writing as well. I’m sure you’ve already guessed, but all in all,

CNN, U.S. try out, of course, our holiday season is the middle of that sum. So we tend to said lots of salads with the rise, turkey and the rush for can the ROI speak? I think it is a really nice combination because you want something

Called a lot and crunching go with us. Rich rested, mate. So I’m going to show you shaved Brussels sprouts out. Well, the first thing you do is you cook the quinoa and then you let it dry. Now we’ve got to make Christmas. So you get

Yourself a nice help him pour a little oil. You take the camera and you just dump it in. We’ll hear a little sizzle and you give the pan a little shake. And then for the next 5 or 6 minutes, you got to keep your

Eye on the and it’s kind of set up half of us. I slightly while we wait for that to happen, let’s make and receive. So you want yourself a blend up front about some tarragon, a little possibly and some fresh basil. So that the U.S.

A little mustard, the machine gives a really nice kind of a kick from using what one Vinnie got. But the truth is any kind of acid. >> I just started on the Lake Street. You can always print it out and they are multiplied the or. >> And you’ve got this beautiful dressing.

I know it thinking people have different feelings of that Brussels sprouts right now. Usually the people that don’t like Brussels sprouts, we used to have the the coach and the whole house would smell like a sprout and they can to get

That. We need smell. But none of us like if you ate them roll, you take a lot of that away. So this is really different way of doing it now in slashing the state’s COVID shape. You can do 2 things you can to cut them in half like

This using a sharp knife contest each route. That’s what we’re looking for. A really fine shaped sprout. He’s what I I get myself a mandolin. A lot of people have change a lot more on because it comes with her. Go out to you.

And if you want to get the really fine, he’s another great little trick. Just kept the brussel sprout straight down the middle. This we’ll allow you to shave some really fine. You’re going to make specially into a ball. Then what you do is you take your dressing.

You spend this straight over quite liberally. Give that a little toss little individual plates like that. I actually take. >> You know, you and the city becomes the center of the plate. I think that you suffer couple of these Priebe launched pieces of broccoli. So we’ve just drop

Them in some borrowing more to make sure the want us all to you. Just a couple of minutes. Great things as well. So take a whole half of a conduit for each salad. Trump then the center now for that beautiful crunchy can work and be really generous with it.

>> I’ll take my dressing and I just a little while and then sort of the plant myself a little reservoir. So when you actually heading to the 7 cada, we’re going to get this little explosion that trust that looks in special. The last thing you do is you pick up some of that

Finely chopped pistachios all over you for just south of Tel. You want. It is a beautiful green salad. There’s so much to love this. Want to crunch and then beautiful requested mates and just personally just take me back to a strike if he says.

>> Yes, one of the things that makes the holiday season Christmas time really special for me is that it’s an opportunity to really celebrate the Puerto Rican conditions. And it’s one of the times and I can feel most connected. >> To my culture, every winter we kick off the holiday season

By celebrating Thanksgiving with all my family and friends and then we have a Christmas which for Puerto Ricans we celebrate not to win, which is actually the night before Christmas growing up. My mom always took part in the kitchen around the holidays. Although when I had about junior high

School high school, that’s when I joined them because I always loved cooking. It’s really fun to kind of continue those traditions and the cookies recipes that not only have been made in my family for years. But in generations of Puerto Rican family, the son of us are perfect for the holidays

Because they’re meant to be shared. They’re crispy there. Some see the perfect kind of think the snack on when you’re sitting around talking and sharing, which is really what my favorite part of the holiday season is. >> While the sun is our perfect with just a sprinkle of salt,

It even better with a couple that the different sauces. So that’s what those up first first up is my okay. So for us here, we’ve got some mayonnaise in a bowl and then we’re just going to add some catch-up to at fresh lime.

And then, of course, it would not be a Puerto Rican st without a lot of garlic. All right. Just looks perfect. I’m going to set aside for now. Let it hang out. Now we’re going to make a car like fitness, multiple. We’re going to set off by mashing some

Garlic add a little salt. And this just create some friction. And we had our garlic cloves few at a time. And then we just mash. You really kind of want this to be a nice sort of a coarse paste. They look like this. And now we’re going to add a lot more

Fun place to ride, but I don’t know. And some human it’s that. And we’re also going to be using our citrus does so with that all together. And then we’re going to add our olive oil. We’re going to finish this off with a little bit of freshly cracked black pepper. All right.

Look amazing. And it’s not even better reamy. All right. We’re going to set this aside for a minute. We’re up there a little bit. And then it’s time to make bust on us. That’s on us. Use green plans. Teens. I >> love plantings there. Start over. Start year or shun

Bananas to cut plans. Haynes, you want to start off by trimming the ends of the best way of taking office to kind of run the edge of your night. >> Along. >> He’ll just to kind of loosen it up and then you start us, stick your finger in there

And just sort of force it off once you get in and it comes off pretty. They just keep repeating. That’s on us. Our fry twice for that first fry. We want to cut these into about 2 inch pieces. We’ve got our oil up to 325 degrees and we’re just going to

Drop them in death rate. We want to see those levels start to form. I just we’re going go for about 2 or 3 minutes. You really different to get a little bit darker. Like a golden yellow. Alright is like ready to come out. And I just like that rain

Is on the computer telling that baking sheet, our plate, even so my mom with you. Yeah, they have that slightly darker golden color. That’s exactly what you’re looking for. And we repeat with the rest of the back. >> And now it’s time to smash his plantings. So parchment paper.

>> Well, plant Hayne in the middle. >> But it is something that smash a little twist is all you need. >> Perfectly smash planting, are they? All right. That’s our last one. Now, these are ready to go back into the hot oil for that second fry, the smell of

Plant Hayne frying in the hot oil. Remind me of my mother’s kitchen. Going to go ahead and take these out. We recommend using they smell so good as soon as you take them out. We want to hit him with a little bit of salt while they’re still hot in the salt and state

The rest of the batch. These are perfect. They are golden and crispy there. Hot and so ready. That’s Ivan. The first got to grab those sauces. Some is going to put a little bit of each of the sauces into these cute little serving bowls.

This isn’t just one of my most favorite things. You’ve got the salty crispy crust on and our fantastic dipping sauces. I hope you get this recipe a try and find out why I left. The sun is so much in the 70 S.

>> Coming up, make some room at the table 50 fees and is whipping up of b**** cranberry sauce. Plus a spike surprise. Then later, comedian Sebastian Maniscalco makes a family favorite pet is no joke. >> So. true holiday feast be without cranberry sauce? A lot next.

Tiffany Thiessen is putting a b**** twist on his popular staple. >> So many things about the holidays. I love them or kind of relaxed, feel that everybody has. Usually most people are more joyous that time of year. I love that. My kids are

Usually from school and get to spend more time with them or quality time at home. And it really becomes more family time. So ever since I was a little girl, I used to always want to be in the kitchen with all the women in my family,

Because that’s where they work. Every single one of them. My mother, my grandmother, my aunt and I have very early visions of myself peering around the kitchen door, wanted to be in there with them doing all the fun cooking that they do. There’s many times where I love to throw a really

Good potluck party like an old-school potluck party, which is really find cause. I like when people bring some of their favorite recipes, I definitely believe you shouldn’t be one to do it all. Like I believe you’re going to give yourself a headache. It’s stressful. Cleanups, a nightmare

You need to delegate. And my mom taught me that delegate and you’re going to enjoy better. I grew up in a family, a very modest families that my mom really was kind of the queen of leftovers by new cookbook. Here we go again is all about

Leftovers. She was really the one who inspired this book. So, you know, I really learned the value of food and also really wanted to teach my children now the importance of food waste. It’s really perfect for the holidays because I feel like we all have holiday hurt. So this actual recipe comes

From taking the cranberry sauce that most people always have leftover cranberry sauce and doing a really fun cost. A lot of it. I of course, am a homemade cranberry sauce girl. It’s funny. My husband, Texas boy grew up with old school. Can do you know, slice cranberry sauce? I did not grow

Up that way. I work with homemade. It’s kind of just something that I absolutely love. I’m going to show you today how I make one of my classic dishes, the blood orange cranberry sauce. But I always have my table, but I’m also going to show you what you can

Do with leftover cranberry sauce. And I’m gonna show you how to make it into a cocktail. So first, we’re actually going to take blood orange soda. Now you can find blood. Orange, of course, can do regular orange. And we’re going actually put this on the stove top, get simmering.

What’s nice about this is the color, of course, color means a lot during the holidays. Now we’re going to take our dried oranges and we’re going to chop these and it’s going to get the moisture from the soda and all the other liquid is

Going to actually get them all soft again. What you put them in with the Tigers. So once you have your orange soda starting to summer, you’re going to take your oranges. You’re going to take your cranberries foale and the next to your sugar going to add

All the way over the top. What it takes. She is already smells so good. Then we’re going to take our pomegranate molasses and then we’re going to take on the core. This is just 2 tables. That and what I love about them, too, is a really gives

That for just kind of like dark color that you want for your cranberry sauce. Let’s not forget pinch of salt. We’re going to let that sit do its thing for about 10 minutes until all the cranberries really break down and get really super soft. The holidays always means I break out my

Special silver that came from my dad’s side of the family. Smells like the holidays already. Cranberry sauce is one of those staples on every holiday table. I love it on, of course, my turkey or any sort of protein that you have for your holidays. So this will go, of course, right to the

Holiday table. Nice. And of course, you always have leftover cranberry sauce. So I’m going to show you what to do with your leftover cranberry sauce. We’re going make a really special and very sauce cocktail. All right. So we’ve got our little shaker with ice already.

>> Of course, you could use whiskey any sort of whiskey want or even tequila can work in this. But I like the smokiness of the bourbon and we’ve got orange juice again. Really nice compliments to cranberry juice. The citrus take our quick and very sauce. Yeah, we’re adding that right to it.

We do a little shake and shake. I love this stuff. The shaker because I’ve had it for almost want to say like 30 years, a lot of memories of come from the shaker and a lot of forgotten memories that I wanted to forget from

The Shahi. A new part of this over a nice size. ICE Q a pretty color chairs. Happy holidays from my family to yours. That’s going to be a good holiday. >> Now, don’t forget if you want to make any of these recipes at home. Just scan this QR code below. Coming up after

The break, we’re going to visit comedian Sebastian Maniscalco and his family are truly tasty Italian classic. a great meal almost as much as he loves making folks laugh. Comedian actor and podcast host Sebastian Maniscalco is joined by his longtime friend whipping up a beloved family staple.

>> I find a lot of comedy happens around the holidays at the table with family and my family has been very, very accepting of me. Kind of poking fun at them. We celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas. We honor the traditions of Rhonda’s family and my family. The kids love Hanukkah and the

Lighting. The candles are saying the prayers and they also love Christmas with the Christmas tree during the holidays. If you go on social media, you’ll start seeing families dress alike. And I still look at the cut, the skin. You believe that these people are telling us that now I’m in

Matching pajamas with my wife and kids now actually look forward to what kind of pajamas all be worried. Christmas morning said set food really in our family has been a tradition of getting around the table, talking to one another, making each other laugh every Sunday we should move. Is it my grandmother?

And it would be part of the quote, unquote, Sunday suffer many over the pass that there be a plan. So over the years became very fond of her eggplant. Now she passed away that recipe pack kind of passed away with her. And I came

Across this eggplant that bomb makes I’ll never town and this that it’s better and maybe my grandmother’s. But but it’s pretty d*** good at home in Los Angeles with Shep. Dominic Di Bartolomeo today, we’re going to make some plants. >> So take us through the process of trial that in the

First want to do. And, you know, a lot of people make a platform with the skin to me. I like to do without the skin will take off the head when to take off the tail and then from here, we’re just going to feel it. >> You re use the skins for anything.

>> So as I know that people on the way and you can use that so you could use this if you’re going to like the company out of something like that, you absolutely can be used, OK, cool. But today we’re throwing it out.

Next up, guys, we’ll take our eggplant and we’re going to slice of the men left. The key here is to get nice and thin because that’s what’s going to make the great texture of the month. We have our slices of eggplant here. There’s a lot of them.

Are we to read? These are going to take it from the beaten egg into the bread crumbs and we laid out nicely on a platter. >> The breadcrumb store bought. So look, I mean that. >> Yes, the break. The Frog is store boy, there’s nothing wrong with store-bought seasoned breadcrumbs, my

Grandmother hunter over. So that’s why I asked. Yeah. And so the problem with this generation. So, Tom, I think we’ve got a slice is to get this thing on starting to bubble a little bit. You want to focus in there

So 2 to 3 minutes on each side will get a nice cool and crisp and lonely and back into the animal. now that we have the plan ready. It’s time to layer the Bush. Let’s talk a little bit, not a sauce. And by the way,

This is a very simple, not an honest us, by the way, are saying I taking a plan and the almost like you’re making lasagna is going to just keep playing it so that they’re touching, but they’re not overlap. So now another layer of sauce perfect. We’re going to take trying to sell

Now, grab a little bit of the economy, John, and just sprinkle over just the way to the Missouri we’ll just keep doing is all the way to the top. There’s all this lady want to add a little bit more extra cheese. Little more action was held in mice right now.

Okay. Okay. That’s you. So what we’ll do is we’ll take is going to cover it with or in the oven at 3.50. For about 45 minutes covered. Right. And then from there after about 45 minutes will uncover it and let it crisp up until Golden Brown, which should be about another 15 minutes.

>> Well, I got a perfect so I my wife, my father here. They’re going to taste test this their palates. Unbelievable. My father has no filter selfie tells it’s going to be as honest opinion, so place to play. Let’s go.

>> This is the plan. All right, guys to get all right. Let’s do this now. Listen, get pretty close to my mom is a very, very good. I felt like over the years as because your second site, I love them for granted. And I believe is my second son, the Nevada. Well,

I could just say that. Thank you. >> Get your family this holiday share stories. Create memories. Create traditions to sell fake something nice for summer ice with all that’s going on in the world. All that matters to me. >> He says that great know. Haha.

>> Well, there’s certainly no doubt the family and friends who makes each of our holiday meals just so incredibly special from all of us at today, wishing you a delicious and a very merry holiday season. >> I there, guys. Welcome to the books. Let’s kick things

Off with a little holiday cheer as we go behind the scenes with the radio city Rockettes and 2 sisters who are fulfilling their dreams doing those famous high kick side by side. >> Where so many of the radio city Rockettes before they were dancing on the stage. They were watching from the audience

Including Jordan and Daniel Batch or you probably get this law. But are you sisters? We are says yes, Daniel, the oldest, remember seeing the Christmas spectacular with her grampa when she was 13. >> And he must have seen that look on my face of just like

Pure joy because he leaned in and he goes, you know, someday you could do that if you wanted to. >> 10 years ago she did 7 years ago. Her sister game this year for the first time. They’re right next to each other on the

Kick law. I just wish she has my back both on and off stage Danelle. Morgan also has their backs. She’s a sweet ready to step in when someone is out. >> It’s an incredibly challenging job. We don’t just learn the one track that a single rocket will do in the

Show. We learned the entire show sometimes deal they have like a moment’s notice before you have to jump in. There have been times where it’s mid-show and then all of a sudden we’re on the stage and 18 year Rockette that she knows her

Parents could be in that audience. They pop up and they show up in the front row for show. We’re all here. My dad cheering and like, oh, my gosh, my parents are here. They didn’t tell me they’re here, but they’re here, OK, sure, parents and always warn you that they’re coming know.

They don’t always warn me. I can see my mom’s classes reflecting with the lights. And it’s just really special to know that there’s love coming at you all for coming. >> Reminder, the Rockettes are not just in sync with each other, but with you to Joe Fryer, NBC News, New York.

>> Okay. Santa. We know you have your famous list but we have one of our faves follows 2. It’s our faith follows list and we are officially adding Santa J Clause to it. Let’s take a look at how he’s spreading. Cheer on social media.

Getting his reindeer information because Santa J Claus is coming to town to visit with us. >> Santa Che, they’re my fans and Jay were so happy. You’re here to figure TikTok outs and a J. It took quite a while. All of the technological, my friend. But we gave it a try

And seemed to do quite well. And why did you feel like you wanted to take your Christmas magic? Yeah, the talk. >> Well, I think that I was seeing some of the things you are seeing the young people posting. I think they needed a reminder of some positivity and goodness.

>> You know what? People are always saying that you make them feel joyful. So there’s something special. I think we all can do a little of that somehow. What’s the secret to spreading, joy? uplift those that are around you. Wonderful gift. It is

Having the gift givers heart to brighten someone’s day and I’m able to do it with a simple little video and make them smile and a wonderful thing. >> And you also help and a lot of different ways we talked about in the piece. You help us Saint Jude’s Children’s

Hospital, which we adore. How has that been for you as a help or a wonderful opportunity to be able to be an ambassador for Saint Jude? They’re doing so many wonderful things. And every time I visit there, I’m always inspired by what they’re doing. And it’s not just that but charities from

Remind just south of the good that surround you. Sometimes we can get a little overwhelmed by the world and taking a moment to see that. There’s goodness, always to be found. >> The central wonderful thing are we have a question for use and certainly more scared after a fracas with maybe the answer

To be sold at a court-ordered auction to settle unpaid medical bills. We couldn’t let that happen. So we bought the House has a Mother’s Day gift for my mom to keep it in the family. Together, we decided it could serve a greater purpose. We decided to lease it to a nonprofit called Family

Actually be bigger than you normally see them because if they’re too small, they’re going to dry up. Well, little bit bigger than a golf ball. I would say smaller than a baseball bat to begin bigger than a golf ball, right? Look at that. Nice lose. So we’ve got to meet false.

They look delicious. We’re going to take place gloves off and I never get used to cook. Really going to go over here. Okay. >> So Marcus is a combination. You have to have some oil and some butter, aunt and brother.

>> And also not too many flaws in the past. I like to cook from the public face up to past the meatballs. We always have masks. >> Going to put it quickly in France. Le Mans the other hand like that.

>> And then we have a great we have a little bit of cream. I I I and this is kind of where my journey of the world comes to. Who’s going to add in chicken stock pickle juice I used to is having a moment having it all.

And it’s going to be a hot topic. But here’s what I think still my freshman year, I felt like I’m having a little bit of me. So all right, a little bit more last and then breadcrumbs, right? just labors of lead can cause. I think we just got some of

Those together. Beautiful Grady ready. We almost ready to place to place to place. Now. We just got to grieve in left. And then we had those assessments leads. We have a little cry 6. I am Ken says, yes, just a little trickle down to something when it’s, you

Know, there would never be sweet smell without some pickles.

>> My love for the holiday started very early because my mom was very, very festive. And I really do feel like it

Trickle down to me and my siblings. Every year mom would make hot apple cider and she put on Christmas music and we would all decorate the tree. It was something really fun and she would hand the ornaments us one by one. Now I carry this

Traditions over into my family. The kids love could be with me, especially forced he’s in love with cooking. He will bring me my cookbook and open it to the page. He wants to make something. We’ll just, you know, go to town. So much fun.

It’s such a great thing you can do with children, some pregnant with our 4th baby. And it was such a special surprise. I love being pregnant around the holidays, especially because I can just east a little extra more. A new holiday tradition that I’ve started is my cranberry

Pull-apart bread. It’s so easy to do so easy to prep. But once it’s finished, I mean, it looks fancy it. It’s just perfect for everybody. The sweet, delicious cranberry pull-apart bread was such a hit. I thought to myself, why don’t we expand upon this and do a

Variation of it to do a savory version? And so I started thinking of all. Thanks, Eric. Have a garden always got Rosemary Parsley, a little garlic owns, got tons of garlic. And so I just felt like, you know what? We’ll see how this turns out. And it turned out

All welcome to Nashville.

>> So this requires a consumer to be willing to give up their cell phone number. You’ve got to. So I’m gonna demonstrate what happens when someone tries to take too much off the shelf after 5 bottles? What happens? >> Preserving our leader and find one department, various

Services on the way here to help you. So that’s a classic example of using AI computer vision counted 5 times. You hit a tipping point and that trip that alarm. >> So it is customer service coming. I’m not going away because on the thief I turn.

>> I make my way toward the exit. A lot of cameras are now picking you up right now because of that. The key to okay. >> And this slows me down, but I get to still get through the wheels on the car blocks because you didn’t go past the

Point of sale and we have a transaction. >> Hayes says some retailers are fitting store managers with body cameras. Research shows this can improve the customer experience and employee safety and expect to see more of these cameras and screens when you’re shopping. The researchers say that people are a lot less

Likely to steal when they can see themselves on camera. Hayes says in some cases, shoppers will have to use 2 hands to get products. >> So you can’t take a whole lot items in one fell swoop. >> Check out the shelf. First. You have to turn a dial to

Point the Red arrow to the item you want then turn another k*** to dispense it. And cameras will play a big role with features like facial recognition, artificial intelligence, even thermal imaging and outside license plate readers that can help identify cars involved in other retail theft incidents.

>> Our retailers really going to invest in all this. Some of them have to invest in it. >> Now if you see a crime in action, law enforcement agents, they don’t get involved. It is safe, though. You can report it to a store employee, try to remember some of those

Descriptive details and you may be surprised at retailers. They’re not insured for these kinds of losses, which is part of the reason you are seeing store closures and rising prices. Meanwhile, the ACLU and other groups have raised privacy concerns about the facial recognition technology and license plate readers that are being used.

>> Up next, we’ll share the ultimate travel guide from skipping long lines at the airport to tips to help you prevent jet lag. Plus what you need to know to protect yourself against flight delays and cancellations. Consumer confidential continues after this break. It has already been a busy travel season. And according to

NerdWallet, more than 130 million Americans have already. >> War plan to spend money on flights and hotels over the holidays. I stopped by the 3rd hour to share tips to help you make the most of your trip without spending a fortune. I have so many great tips in the segment today. So first,

The one is no brainer. Just download the airline’s app. You can always delete it later if you don’t want to fall. But that is your one-stop shop for your boarding. Pass your customer service number LSU, and any alerts or delays. We’ll come right into your app next. Consider paying for

Priority Access. Yes, A paycheck we talked about. It saves you a lot of time. It cost $85. It’s good for 5 years. The next step is if you’re an international travel travelers consider global entry. That also includes I expenses. No, it’s not $100 and includes TSA Precheck gets you

Through customs quicker. If you travel internationally and then finally clear, this is sort of interesting. This one’s about $100. It basically gets to cuts to the very front of the line of TSA to chase a pretty of TSA predicts actually not every airport has art because my credit card gives me

Clear you took that step out of my mouth that, you know that old. All right. Those are important benefits, Dylan, it bears repeating. And then my last hack is is one about sharing a photo album with your family before you leave, you don’t waste a that message to each other pictures. Look at

The school monument, this and that. And then when you get back, all the photos are replaced. You can print them out as a mother while everybody uploads and take that back to a plus to the shared photo album. So we want to save money once

We actually go on vacation. But what are some ways to save on vacation? So start with your airline ticket, Dylan, right? You’re going to sky scanner or Google flights that would give the price alerts saying that if your flight goes down in price,

You can call the airline and rebook at a lower price with demand as high as it is, probably won’t. But at least you can track the prices on your flight. The next thing is a simple one, right? It’s great for the environment. It’s great for your budget. Bring a reusable water bottle. Almost

Every airport now has that filter water. Water is expensive. 7 bucks at the airport for a bottle. Right? So bring an empty water bottle and your own snacks. High-protein jerky is a sandwich. That’s easy. Nothing spreadable syllable. But you don’t want that. And then I

Love this tips. Book a long layover or even a stop over Iceland. Air is famous for this option. You can stay up to 7 days. So you’re going somewhere else. But we’re going to stop in Iceland. They will pair you with a stopover buddy to take

You around some of the hot spots there. Finnair gives you 5 days you can explore health symptoms. Maybe you’re there for the northern lights. Check in with Allan Dylan to figure out when that happens. And Singapore, also, they’ll give you a hotel room and a transfer back to the airport

For one night for 60 Bucks. So you’ve got to explore all these other places at no charge without booking that extra flight. And finally, if you’re going to an urban center, a Paris in La and New York, you can look and by a past week,

Even to like 60 different museums and monuments for one low price. >> So if you’re traveling, especially if you have small children, if you’re if you’re traveling with kids are long distances may be one of those layovers you want. There’s the usual. Keep your energy. Yes, some tips for that.

>> So this is important, especially even if you’re just going from coast to coast, right? The time difference and jet lag is a very real thing. So they say tried to just get on local time as soon as possible. If that means staying

Up a few extra hours to go to bed on time with where you’re going, meals at those same times, expose yourself to a lot of sunlight and drink a lot of water, try to limit your caffeine because that’s going to throw off your internal

Clock as far as power in your external devices. Nowadays, they have these portable chargers. They’re not very expensive. You can fully charge those because you never know if you’re going to have a plug on the plane or not or if the plug work always been charged. I exactly they’re off often

Like funky town and then also just make sure that you’re copying and taking a photo of your passport. Your visa says always have it with you on your phone. This one I love. Google has so many maps. You can only download so if you go

Somewhere. And the signal is spotty, you can still reference the MAC without being connected to the Internet. >> And sometimes our travel plans are always go. According to plan, flights can especially be unpredictable. So what should you do if your flight is delayed or canceled? I spoke to

Alshon now and Dylan about everything you need to know before you travel. So what are you doing? This story and a lot of things to change. So it’s good to get that refresher. Now. A lot of flights over the weekend because of the weather were

Just canceled, delayed. What are your rights when that happened? >> This is an if and or situation. If your flight is delayed and significantly delayed or canceled and you don’t take you to go home or you take a bus or a train, get your destination some of the way the airline is required

By federal rules to refund you that portion of your unused ticket. Here’s the thing. If they rebook you to go somewhere, then you have no right to reminds you don’t take that. But rebooked flight. Yeah. Then then you who are definitely do that. Take OK? The other thing that you want

To think about is people ask about hotels, meals if I’m delayed, will are going to pay for that. He totally depends on the carrier. And so you want to look at the contract of carriage which is on the individual carrier’s website or go to the one-stop shop that is brand new. It’s transportation,

Dot Gov and has all the major carriers and their contracts. The one area where federal rules really do apply is the tarmac. If you’ve ever been stuck in the plane on the tarmac, there used to be some real horror stories. Yeah.

Now with its up to 2 hours, the airline is required to provide food, water and bathrooms. It’s 3 hours or more. They’re required to take that plane back to the gate on less. It would disrupt the airport’s operations severely or the pilot says there’s a major security risk. The key here to

Avoid all of this, trying to get that first flight of the day, you’re less likely to encounter any issues with weather or with mechanical issue staffing issues. So that first light gives you that much more leeway. >> Those policy cancellations or delays to come into effect if it’s caused by weather.

>> No act of God is not covered. Yeah. There are people who feel like they just say whether any way. Okay. Haha as flights couple especially over the holidays. What happens if you get in voluntarily brought national, believe it or not, airlines are perfectly allowed. It is completely legal for them

To overbook their flights and they do it because they don’t want to leave the ground with less than a full plan. So this is very common and 2 options happen. First, they asked for volunteers who would be willing to take this next flight out

And often they sweeten the deal with the flight credit voucher towards something else. I forgot those highs. 800 $1 when I’m just sitting up blue collar jobs. Just wait. Smart and you’re flexible. Do it because you’re getting a real value for them if they are able to. So that’s the volunteers when

They get to the people who cannot, you know, will are not willing to and then they have to bump you anyway. It depends on your status. Depends on how much you paid for that ticket. It depends on when you checked in. Every airline will decide

On their own food. They’re going to bump in voluntarily. If they can get you there within an hour of your original arrival time, you’re not getting any compensation. If you are one to 2 hours later, the new arrival time they actually have to pay you 2 times what you paid for your

Ticket or $775 or less. It’s more than 2 hours late 4 times what you paid or $1550 so significant. I didn’t know that either. Let’s talk about luggage because clearly I had an issue 5. We just have to get my luggage back. But what would

My rights have been? This is something we know all too well. We’re going to Taylor Swift into every segment here on C and it was like a national saga. We cheered when you’ve got yourself that right? So the first thing you want to

Do, try not to have your life to be lost. All rip off all those bar codes of those polled tags. The worst thing is if it gets canned accidentally and go somewhere else, take pictures of the outside of your luggage as well as the contents that

Just makes easier. If you have to file a claim, you can say this is exactly what I had in their. This is exactly what it’s worth. Travel expert Chris Elliott says only put your name your e-mail and your phone number on the outside as well

As on the inside of keys. That label on the outside gets ripped off. Don’t put your address. He says because the bad guys might know you’re on vacation and go there and check out your home. Yes. The other thing we have Apple air tags,

We have other tracking devices tiles that could have been candy, when your bags were in Italy where ever they won. They went on that whole worldwide to our and then obviously, if you can keep calm, carry on whenever possible, it’s not possible when you have like an

International to a lot of people, right? Here’s the thing. If you have to buy clothes, I mean, you guys did a great job. You’re like cutting my hands. You are borrowing clothes. You are wearing a nightgown. But if you have to buy things, keep it reasonable and keep a detailed receipt

Because when you file that claim, that’s how they’re going to decide what to compensate. Uber’s, let me show you the limits here. It’s up to $3800 per passenger for lost luggage for domestic flights. But that’s at the airline’s discretion, 1700 for international flights. And of

Course, when you file your report for lost luggage, get the name of the person and who you’re supposed to contact so you can keep following up. >> Coming up, we’ll reveal the best consumer products of the year and consumer confidential returns. This fabulous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and folks from all around the country love doing it too and speaking of from all around the country, there’s a Baker in Brooklyn who’s bringing a little taste of Mexico to everyone who wants it. Don Paco Lopez Pena to re has been serving up fresh Mexican

Pastries for 30 years and its customers have been lining up for justice. >> I think meal since they opened the very well known and they were very nice. >> Well I’ve been or since I was about 5 years old I think

Coming to the caucuses that was very small, maybe like 3 or 4 years old and now I teach across the street. So I come every morning before work. >> Were they going to do next and maybe that’s because they are family.

Well me go oh how are you certain bindi go to the couple of the front of the process this bakery isn’t run by just one person but 8 siblings, their parents and extended family. >> But you think put them said that when settled on some police at this at some point be a.

Sweet bread decorated with candied fruit and a baby doll inside. That’s a reference to Jesus Christ. So it’s a little celebration. A celebration called King’s day which marks the 3 wise men’s visit to the majors. Now if this sounds familiar. That’s because New Orleans

Famous King cake shares, the same Catholic roots dating back to medieval France where the Lopez’s it’s more than just the holiday. It’s the big three’s busiest time of the year so everyone grabbed a front to help out when I was rushed to the various stale ask a vehicle,

You know you’re going to see your whole family at least once a once a year. Yeah I can see my father my they prop to see everybody is working 24 hours. We talking about 30 family members. Call me and do the growth of ages.

>> Food when we open the door at 6 o’clock we bring everybody and for how good were kissing we have music people that are unaccustomed to know what Christmas Eve determine eases. Ask questions like people crazy is in fact, good and they miss the point of why people are outside. It’s a

Sense of community. It’s it’s a filling. >> As Philly. Some say has there been this could go. >> There’s many many products that we make that are special to so many different people. >> But nothing is more dynamic or special to our customers and

And it’s being handled with respect and care. >> The legacy of the bakery dating back to the early 1920’s when Giuseppe terminal immigrated to America from his home in Italy and joined his brother Gaetano here in Philadelphia. >> He left his family and everything that he knew to come

To a country nothing about that speak the language has no idea about what he’s walking into somehow found a way with his brother to be able to start just a little tiny kitchen and brick by brick we grew this business into something that you can pass on to his side.

>> After opening its doors to this same Street in 1921 Germany brothers quickly became the go to place. >> For all types of cakes cookies and of course could only. >> Giuseppe term and he turned his little corner bakery into a landmark of sweet sentiment. I like Mister chairman I’m okay

That people would say what’s your secret and he didn’t get into a real long winded thing. >> His answer was meant. It was tough just make good stuff and so. >> It was very admirable even in his later days when he was

In his 90’s working 7 days a week. When the store was closed and sit here in Stuart this was his life. This was his life Giuseppe talk the business to his only son then sued senior. >> Who would later grow up running the bakery his sons,

Joseph and Vincent junior were by his side learning the family >> We realized we have something very very special tree. here. So we kind of knew as we got older that this was the path that we wanted to >> Before long it was time for them to live up to that her take.

Money brothers name and take over as new owner’s dream. >> My father has that’s a civilian Philly blood and just to clear to the rim rules, you know it took him a little bit of time to really trust what Vinnie and I we’re doing here.

I remember when you first shipping out or can always he was so happy to look at the dresses and see where they were >> Today is a little warm up 5 or 600 and about 2 or 3 weeks, gone. we’ll be looking at about maybe 2022 on your boxes.

>> He was going, I can’t believe it it’s going to Arizona it’s going to California look this one going to Hawaii, and you know I think it was at that point that my father. I had a 100% trust that the business was going the right direction.

>> Although some things have changed over the last century a lot of speed this up. >> What this was my grandfather’s Dave is that the most efficient not is it currently in the morning. Yes, it’s like an old man this But all of these

The benches are steam kettles you know our guests too. All right. >> Another constant over the years, Philadelphians love for Germany’s literally is a wedding day is that we figured we do you join. >> We’ve we’ve learned anything over the area probably will see

You have a nice time. Now Joseph adventure junior are adding their own chapter to the bakery story preparing to reopen at its original location across the street turning it into a small cafe. On this spot, the tradition began Germany brothers, positive founded March 19th 19 to 21

This is where it all started for was in 1921 2 brothers used to bake in the back. These were the original late for years that my grandfather had a very very big care there and where. >> With this is the original leave this is the kind of

Artifacts of a plan on putting up. >> But for now time to get ready for another Christmas Eve. Germany’s 100 to be exact. >> It’s probably the most stressful. 15 minutes of the entire year. One that than not it is. >> And it’s the same people every year and then adds on you

Know, so if you can imagine for the last 100 years. The winds like down the block we look at this line the Christmas seems like they’re a part of our family and I also a great Christmas Eve. >> At the end. Normally gather around the stand. Everybody has.
