  1. Hi Alex,
My club is run by two owners, who are trying to make it an elite venue. They shop has 98% J Lindberg clothing and at those price points don't sell many items to the older members. When questioned, they don't act on our concerns. Our fees have gone by £25 and I don't understand why so little, as, surely it would be justified by increases in running costs(we only have approx 350/400 members).
My friends and I play there because we can easily get tees times and who we play with, in spite of the owners, who come across as guarded and somewhat distant to some, not all, regular members. I have NEVER received a fed back request.

  2. Clubs should be rolling out efforts to keep the junior section, but my first hand experience has they really don't care. This year I have junior fees to pay plus an additional fee called junior levy !
Days of club loyalty are ending £1600 fees for 2 juniors and 1 adult. Its is a real hole into any household. And all that cash swimming around in LIV and the PGA ! 😡

  3. At my club where I’m a director after our monthly board meetings we send out an email to all members as to what was talked about “do a degree” as well as put on our website 😉

  4. I'm from Sydney in Australia I was a member of a club in Sydney the joining fees and yearly fees quite high and they treated their members as just numbers no feedback but now I'm a member of a course an hour away from Sydney couldn't be happier the feedback is fantastic and you feel like you're part of the golf club the course is always in fantastic condition and we have no problems with visitors coming to our Golf Club when the club cares about you it makes a massive difference keep up the good work😊😊

  5. Very timely discussion. Our club recently hired a new GM. A teaching pro and competitor. Immediately, we all were brought into major issues with the club. Projects that had been discussed for years, but no action taken were immediately put on a time table. We need to upgrade our irrigation system. Nothing was done for years except bandaids to keep it marginally working. With our new GM, we got a complete report and a list of financing options for funding this major upgrade. Every member was provided an option to voice their concerns, preferences or propose a different idea. No option was not presented. We knew the issue and all the possible solutions. It was a win and the option we have will allow our club to make all these repairs and upgrades.

We also get informative emails weekly. We know what is going on at our club. It gives us so much confidence in what our staff and our board is doing. A year ago, this was not happening.

In short, your discussion shows how important and how easy it will be for clubs to provide this information.

  6. Utility bills increase pay rises for ground staff price of external maintenance all factors what annoys me is comp fees getting higher

  7. My club would never dream of consulting the members. The club is run by and for a small coterie within the club.
