  1. The first Dominican pitcher from the Dominican Republic to ever pitch a perfect game especially for the New York Yankee That's History history that is history

  2. Baseballs so boring they cant even call Heim's tagout correctly with a replay. OOOOPS Guys!!! PERFECT GAME PERFECT GAME, WE'RE SORRY WE'RE TERRIBLE HERE YOU GO. WE GOT YOU A PERFECT GAME NOW KEEP WATCHING AND SHUSH PLZ THX

  3. Does Rich not think that maybe it’s not the top story, and not being glorified…. Maybe because he beat his wife?

  4. Baseball’s popularity has suffered a precipitous decline for many reasons. The fact they play 162 is one of them. Another is the nfl has become a juggernaut. A 24th perfect game is pitched last night and everyone is talk about the players getting suspended for gambling.

  5. A perfect game against a team with the worst record in MLB. Ehh, who cares, the important stat is that the Yankees won.

  6. Longtime baseball fan here: a pitcher getting only the 24th perfect game in a sport with more than a century of history would probably be getting a lot more attention if said pitcher hadn't previously beat his wife. He shouldn't have even had the opportunity.

  7. Someone in my TEAMS chat at work today implied that perfect games means that only one team failed to perform. I almost said something to get fired.

  8. Let’s not forget that I have really been 25 perfect games. Tigers pitcher 10 or 15 years ago should get credit for an obvious blown call.

  9. Love the discussion. Great conversation, Rich. Listen. I haven't watched much baseball lately. This was great to see. It's a great story; and baseball has always been a sport repleat with folklore. Great accomplishment. #24

  11. I can think of a couple other reasons why people may not want to talk about this particular perfect game

  12. That’s what makes MLB special. Certain games like this that are unexpected. NFL, NBA, and the NHL don’t have these moments.

  13. Larsen didn’t get out of the second inning of his previous start: surrendered a six run second, four of which were unearned.

  14. Very interesting question. If this were an NBA game in November would we be talking about it ? Probably hard to say bc there aren’t a whole lot of comparable records/achievements in basketball. Also, wonder what competition he’s referring to..? 👀

  15. German has always had filthy ball movement. He has also had trouble harnessing it. It is like a horse that can run faster than any other but just won't do it from gate to finish. Domingo had a night where he was able to control the ball and everyone else did their job in the field. This was also another Perfect Game that had delays between innings that most would expect to upset the pitcher; Cone with the rain delay.

  16. All 4 Yankees perfect games were pitchers with 1st name starting with the letter D.

    Don
    David
    David
    Domingo

  17. Hard to be excited about a guy who's been caught cheating multiple times AND beat the hell out of his gf. That's why no one cares. Can't believe y'all just glossed over that.

  18. We leaving out the Boston start.
    His last 3 starts:

    2 innings, 7 R, 7 ER, 7 hits, 2 BBs, 1 SO, 1 Hr

    3.1 innings, 10 R, 8 ER, 8 hits, 2 BBs, 4 SOs, 4 HR

    9 innings, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 hits, 0 BBs, 9 SOs, 0 HR

I'm not sure you'll be able to find a weirder or more unlikely 3 start stretch in MLB history, it would be an interesting challenge, I hope someone reading this can find one cause I want to learn some history here

  19. I will tell you something about that Mussina near-perfect game. He faced Carl Everett just a few days ago in the Bronx and threw him a high fastball for a strikeout. He threw the same pitch to Everett in Fenway, only Carl was looking for it the second time.

  20. I always like double d's and even triple d'' but the Yankees have 4 guys perfect games Whose name starts with d. The Yankees have quadruple d's. AWESOME

  21. i mean it was against the worst team in a decade or more… the A's are a college team at this point

  22. The 24th perfect game out of more than 235,000 games played over the past 140 years.

  23. None o these dudes have watched German pitch.. He has taken like two no hitters into the 8th inning before, earlier this ear he went 8.2 after he gave up his second hit and only had 1 walk. This should not be a surprise to people

  24. Interesting what an average (31 – 26) pitcher accomplished.
MLB has two HOF snd legend pitchers from the Dominican Republic, J. Marichal & P. Martinez with 462-Wins.
