Thank you for uploading 1996-97 which I think might be MJ's most underrated year. It didn't even get featured in the Last Dance documentary at all except for the Flu Game. I really think this season is overlooked because MJ didn't win MVP (second to Malone), averaged just under 30 (29.6) and the Bulls didn't win 70 games (they won 69). It was really only the last month of the season that cost MJ the MVP award because through the first 64 games, MJ was averaging 30.8 points (.491 FG%, .374 3P% and .838 FT%) 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 steals and the Bulls were 55-9. Had they been able to win 70 games again and MJ kept his average above 30, we may be talking about 1996-97 as one of his greatest seasons ever.

Kobe is my fav of all time but obviously i know he copied michael jordan’s style and moves, it’s quite beautiful to watch. The difference i notice is MJ’s game was more surgical, just straight to the point, no extra flash, no extra dribbles than necessary, he just needed 1 move to get open and score, like a fucking machine. Kobe could do that but he wasn’t as physically gifted as mj so he needed maybe 2-4 moves to get open sometimes, but still impressive as fuck. I also think MJ was close if not just as good a passer as Lebron, but MJ knew he was the best scorer on the court so he only passed if he knew his teammate was in a better position to make a high percentage shot, otherwise it’s safer in his hands, which i think is smarter. I feel like Lebron passes a little too much especially in the last couple minutes of the game. It’s good to trust your teammates but if you’re the best scorer and the most in shape player on the team then the best decision is to take the shot yourself, just look at ben simmons when he passed instead of dunking over trae young. Lebron tends to pass to his out of shape nervous teammates for the game winning shot instead of taking it himself which pisses me off because i know lebron could be the goat if he could just tweak a couple bad habits. He’s still top 3 for me. Anyways, sorry for the long random rant, awesome video.
As a 28 year old who loves the game of basketball People will always try to tear down his greatness but fail to recognize he was the first of his kind, the blueprint for the moden NBA superstar. The league had never seen a guard with his level of fundamentals, skill, athleticism, toughness, scoring, defense, and mindset. It wasn’t that the comp was weak it was that he was just better than everyone else at the game very few from his era came close to that level of ability he is 1 of 1.
Underrated season imo he wasn’t really “air” Jordan anymore he was the fundamentally sound one. But could still dunk on people if he wanted 2
