I would be curious to see what his trade value would be I like brannstrom but I also think he may be a better trade chip for the sens to fill there holes than anything else seeing as they are strong on LD at the moment.
The real question is, is Chabot going to grow anymore or is he going to decline? In my opinion he is gonna decline, his offensive ability has been declining and his defensive ability has never been that great, with Sanderson Chych Kleven Brannstrom and Zub, my question is do we need Chabot at all? I understand he was once the go to guy but I don't think he will continue to be that guy and his NTC kicks in next season. 8m (10M in real dollars) is a lot to pay for what Chabot provided this season and last.
As he should be. He's been great and really is one of Ottawa's best defenders night in and night out. Would I like more production out of him, sure. Is he the next coming of Erik Karlsson, that is a strong no. But, he has Top 4 potential and despite having a weaker year offensively it was one of his best defensively. I've loved this kid since he got here and while I wish we got more from the Mark Stone trade I don't regret Brannstrom being a part of that trade. I honestly believe that if Chychurn can stay healthy (which Branny is great insurance for) it would probably be Chabot who'd get moved. I don't want Chaby to be moved, but at this moment his play this season has not given me confidence in his contract when Chychurn is just as good at a cheaper caphit.
After Dorion gives DeBrincat all the money and term he wants there won't be any money left for a goalie. When Dorion trades Chabot for a goalie Dorion thinks Brannstrom will fill Chabot's skates. Other guys Dorion will find it easy to move are Batherson and Pinto in exchange for a little depth scoring.
Zero chance he's back next season. Not because he isn't a good player, but because he isn't a fit on this team. Branny needs a top-4 role, and the Sens don't have room for him in that role. He's massively boosted his trade value and could be used to bring in some good forward depth or as part of a trade for a bonafide #1 goalie.
Unless the Sens move on from Chabot, which the delusional Twitter keyboard warriors clearly want, Erik Brannstrom has no place on this team. It would be best for both Erik and the team to find a better fit elsewhere.

Sanderson and Chabot are obviously top 2 pairings which leaves Chychurn, Brannstrom and Kleven for the last pairing unless he plays RD where Chychurn and Brannstrom could play RD where Zub already plays so Brannstrom is gonna be a bottom pairing guy either on LD or RD

I'd get rid of Parker Kelly
I just don't see the whole "being pushed off pucks" thing. He wins like 70% of the board battles I see him in. Definitely weaker net-front, but I don't think Yorkie's description is fair.
I would rather play brannstrom as a 4th line winger than Kelly. Not kidding.
if im branny im getting tf out of ottawa. this team doesnt give him nearly enough icetime. his abilities are top tier. i think u send him to pittsburgh and he'll emerge as their number one as Letang declines.
