  1. According to Miller, the knots in the gut were wrenched knowing what was coming next games. The Spectrum in Philadelphia was the turf of the toughest bad asses that dropped the gloves. Berube, Brown, Chychrun , Tocchet and Carkner. The Flyers were and will always be the toughest Franchise in NHL history. The list of tough guys they had is scary 😮. Search on Google: Philadelphia Flyers top 10 fighters in franchise history. Flyers top line players were also a menace, Bobby Clark, Eric Lindros, Bill Barber. Other mentionables like Mel Bridgman and Mad dog Bob Kelly Daryl Stanley and Ron Hextall wasn't a slouch in the fisticuffs either.

  2. Miller's recollections of Probert weren't Jay's big ticket item, seems Miller didn't think Probert was a dominant fighter to deal with.

  3. ❤ jay Miller …nilan was a scumbag…terrible move for Boston to pick him up when he was washed, after butt ending Middleton….total douche

  4. Jays coughing (sounds like he has a cold), is making me cringe! It reminds me slightly of Burt Young's "one off episode" of the Soprano's. You all know what im talking about!

  5. a cousin of mine was a huge John Kordik fan. She ran into him at a mall in Edmonton and they became friends. I got to meet him as well and he was such a nice guy off the ice, then the drugs and alcohol took over

  6. Loved jay miller, my brother and I taped every fight he had as a Bruin. Also nilan was tough and bruins Canadian games were the best. Saw it once at the garden and you didn’t disappoint. Thank god you were both around during the best hockey .

  7. Grew up watching these two having those classic fights and both could play as well, Miss those days. Love your podcast Chris.

  8. Golf caddied for these two legends at Nantucket Golf Club around 99/2000. They were guests of Brian McLaughlin who is mentioned on this pod. 2 absolute gentlemen and 4 of the funniest hours on a golf course in my life!! Cam Neely was also there and the drinks cart was refilled quite a few times. Jay was quiet reserved and quiet with a killer one liner while Knuckles never shut up and was just hilarious. Great times!!!

  9. As a Bruins fan from Montreal that hated Nilan and thought I was going to watch just 5 mins of this , ended up watching the entire episode. Good atuff and appreciated the clarification on the Middleton incident.

  10. 36:05… Its such a pleasure to hear Jay laugh like this!
U never saw him even crack a smile on the ice, only when he was eyeing his next victim!! Staring into another guys eyes with that unpleasant grinning smile….
Yeah, im good!! All set, Mr Miller I will GLADLY move out of your way sir…😊

  11. Of course you, @KnucklesNilan30, now know that both you and Jay Miller went to Northwood. Well, tonight I walked past my mother while she was watching some hockey thing, very unlike her, and I was confused. She said she had heard about a doc that talked about NHL fighters. She couldn't find it, but she found something along the same lines. She was intrigued because two of the people in the original show she was searching for were Northwood graduates. I was too young for "Knuckles", but you visited years later when i was around 5th grade. What struck me is how big your fists were. As for Jay Miller, well, I remember you, not just because I watched you play at Northwood as a boy, but because my married mother, the married librarian, and the wife of the ski team head all had a little, indecent crush on you. Last name: Hannan.

  12. Love Jay. Got to meet him when I was a kid at the Tip a King event at Culver City ice rink. I don’t quite understand why he said that probert would throw a couple punches and then be done.
