  1. how about we, as consumers, call for something OTHER than these conglomerates of greed and dysfunction? the pga has ruined golf in the past few decades in order to sell novelty golf clubs…
wouldn't it be fun to watch real players shoot it out on traditional golf courses, like it used to be before the pga, and others, turned golf into a novelty sport of power forwards hitting 400 yard t shots, and changing every venue to fit that predetermined outcome?
i have played and watched golf for 50 years, and at a time when there ought to be 100 interesting venues for golf, it's the most boring sport to watch in the world…there is no actual drama anymore, because there is no 'david and goliath' anymore, because there is no 'david' anymore…just a greedy bunch of goliaths dancing like monkeys for the corporations.

  2. The PGA are in serious trouble. With their best players jumping to LIV their negotiating position is considerably weaker now than it was in the past. This is only going to get worse as more players jump ship. Have they left it too late to try and get a deal which is good for the PGA or will LIV essentially take over the PGA tour. I think Rory may now be regretting turning down that half billion $ deal lol

  3. The biggest loser is the European tour, if they had partnered with LIV they would have owned world golf outside the USA We would have had 2 powerful tours putting on great tournaments. Leading into the majors

  4. Under the tentative agreement between the PGA and Saudis, LIV, along with the PGA, will be owned by a company that is jointly owned by the PGA and Saudi investment fund with the PGA having majority control of the board of that company. So as LIV prospers, so does the PGA. If LIV really takes off, the PGA will smile because they own LIV.

  5. PGA will exist but with a different format and a different board – both dictated by LIV. PGAT was delusional. They thought they would be able to get the PIF money and still be in charge and determine how the funds get allocated. LIV = 54 holes and 54 players (18 teams of 3 players). Also 54 is considered to be the perfect round (birdie every hole).

  6. All the Golf Ball manufacturers, who are in the Power Position, have to do is tell the USGA and R&A, to stick it. They need to say, you wanna roll the ball back, make it yourself then. And also the only Pro Tournaments under the Rules of the USGA and R&A are the 2 Opens. So they want to make the Golf Ball Companies spend Billions for 2 Tournaments. Thats a hard no

  7. In business they call this a “hostile takeover”. The “stock” in this case are the PGA tour players. The PGA tour better be working or negotiating with PIF, because nobody is going to want to invest in a business without any assets.

  8. If there is a framework agreement, why is Jay talking to FSG? I believe Tour and PIF only agreed to talk and discuss nothing more. But they deliberately misled everyone. Now that the deadline is looming and there is no progress each party is trying to get leverage on each other. PIF signing more players and the Tour acting as if it has alternatives. Forget FSG they don't have the money to throw like PIF

  9. Hope all the top players go if Pif wants to blow the billions. Pro golf is of no consequence. Rich, spoiled golfers. Screw them

  10. Now that the PGA Tour have to provide clarity in any decision made with this memo, it seems to also show to PIF that the PGA Tour are doing a turnaround on them—in a similar manner that they did to the players loyal to them on June 6th. As the wording implied that they are not the priority compared to SSG at this stage, they probably are just going to keep on signing players to LIV.

  11. If you compare the PGAT to baseball, football or basketball there is no comparison in INCOME from the franchise, merchandising and tv contracts.
The money for the PGAT comes principally from corporate sponsors at the various tournaments and the tv contracts and PGA media rights. You'd never get rich from investing in the PGAT.
The current business model of the PGAT is like a Guild from the 1800s. You MUST be in the Guild to play; the income is for a non-profit organization; money also goes to charity; money goes to prizes; money goes to management; money goes to investments for pensions; money goes to PGAT golf venues, and a few other things. NOT a lot of room for profits in here.
How can you expect to compete against a Sovereign Wealth Fund that isn't concerned about MAKING A PROFIT !!!??? You can't. This is becoming clear to the PGAT members. They're just waiting to see who leaves next.
To the last guy out………be sure to turn off the lights.

  12. Could it be at all possible the reason the PGA Tour is not keeping the players up to date is that every time they do there seems to be a leak. Maybe there should be a bit more scrutiny on the players behaviour rather than the PGA Tour management

  13. As a golf fan why do people feel like they have to choose a side. Enjoy it all and we get 4 super bowls a year at the majors. I hope both tours survive and are successful.

  14. Monahan should be removed from ALL of this…..HE LIED straight faced to everyone… Liv is BETTER…much more thought OUT… Love the team concept!!!!

  15. It’s a little interesting that the memo doesn’t even mention LIV, like it was supposedly going to be a part of the partnership and continued moving forward, but the memo doesn’t exactly give that impression. I think the continued divide seems inevitable.

  16. Forget the US investors. The Saudis massive financial resources will rule the roost. No doubt. Money talks. What was the cash reserves of PIF?. I believe in the order of 800 billion and coming in continuously.

  17. I don't mind players going to play elsewhere just tell the truth why you are leaving. You will get more respect that way. All this garbage about its for my family and i want to grow the game is utter nonsense just say it. I WENT FOR THE MONEY. There you go that was easy wasn't it.

  18. With Wells Fargo pulling out, who were one of the biggest sponsors. The PGA Tour, expected Wells Fargo, to jump from paying a purse of $9 million, to $20 million. Wells Fargo said no thanks, they could be one of many who may well say goodbye in the years ahead. Things are getting tighter for many companies, as markets shrink, due to a global economies falling on hard times. I wouldn't trust anything the PGA Tour say at the moment, plenty of bluster. The truth always comes out, and it will, once Monahan is forced out.
