  1. I’ll be honest I’m a 10 handicapper I would probably say I’m going to stop golfing. I find it hard enough to play it at the min has took me 3 years to get down from 24 to what I am now and I hit my drives around 250 to maybe 270 on a good one so if ur telling me that im going to be 10 to 15 yards short on my good drives then what’s the point.

  2. Well as a (New Golfer) played one year now this kind of sucks.. If they really do this move I would rather do it now for my experience with golf rather than having to deal with these new golf balls when my game hopefully looks a lot better.. I mean what about the older golfers in the clubs these people will get hit so hard with these setbacks.. Regarding golf balls I will expect them to rise in price now just because of the fact they won't be making the same amount any more.. Cause the ball manufactures know they will have to sell what they have in stock, so expect the prices to be sky high in the furure years

  3. A much better option is to roll back the driver for the pro's. Let them only be allowed wooden drivers and fairway woods. That will show who is the best golfer.

  4. I think that’s a crowd shit all y’all in the roll back over and over nine stopped up the whole tournament every single person during that everyone’s back swings until they stop it😊

  5. Is this not unfair to USA and UK golfers- that their governing bodies are changing golf ball rules in their countries? Are International pro – LIV golfers exempt when playing in the UK and USA?

  6. I bet ordinary golfer will not be impacted much. If balls gets straighter rather then longer 95% of players will benefit.

  7. I don’t hit the ball very far now, so can’t say I’m impressed by this decision at all. Surely the issue is in the professional game, so why not just apply the restrictions to them and leave amateur golf alone?

  8. People will moan about this without realising that the ball they play, for instance, a Srixon Soft Feel… is "shorter" than a Titleist Pro V1 left dash. If you truly cared about maximum distance then you would play a "fresh" Left Dash every few holes.

  9. the golfball industry must be laughing about the thought of all the sales they will make prior to the rules change . everyone playing will resort to hoarding golfballs and a black market will happen. weve seen this very thing happen in ammo sales time and time again .

  10. It's about time!! I am so sick of watching the pro's hit nothing but Driver and wedges and shooting 20 under. I l started playing using wooden Drivers and 2 piece balls. It was just as much fun then as it is now. Holes didn't seem too long and you learned to really use your wedge in different ways to stop the ball

  11. To say that 15 yard shorter shots for the most elite pros will be more sustainable, better for the Earth, fight climate change (sarcasm) is ridiculous. Also, this could change ten times between now and 2030. Finally, playing from the back tees, how many eagle opportunities should a weekend hacker have? Probably zero.

  12. Sound like a charter for ball manufacturers to make money – We are going to have to discard all our old balls! Sound great for the environment! All they had to do was narrow the fairway and increase the length of the rough!

  13. So this change is to address a perceived problem with 1% of golfers but the solution impacts 99% of golfers that aren't causing a problem.

    Yeah seems fair to me.

  14. I can't even sit through this. Another Golf Pro crying about a golf ball change with which they have NO IDEA.
They haven't played a designed to be soft type ball. They have barely even seen anyone with expertise PLAY with a soft designed golf ball.
Unfortunately by the time it rolls out, you will struggle to give it a chance (until someone beats you with it) because you have been so heavily vested in opposition. Opposition to something which you have know knowledge of, and you are refusing to give the appropriate value to the old pros telling you otherwise.

  15. I think this is stupid. People are gonna hoard older golf balls. For me, I'm lucky if I carry 220. So I'll be back below 200. WTF? What if LIV doesn't roll back?

  16. I think some of the long hitting pros will go with lower lofted drivers since this will reduce backspin when the new golf balls for elite level play goes into effect in 2028.

  17. It’s just wrong … elite male golfers only ! The lpga ? Senior tour ? C’mon !!!
Rec golfers that are lower handicappers ? We’re the ones that help fuel the industry and my 300 drive will go 285. No way I do have time to find another hobby though. Betrayal!!

  18. This will not affect anyone – you all will miss the green with a 9 iron the same as with your pitching wedge – people are way too obsessed with stats and distance. Longer hitters will still hit it longer, better golfers will still be better. I honestly doubt most golfers will even see a difference in their scores, and even fewer could actually tell the difference between a 2014 ProV1 and a 2024 ball…..If someone is going to quit because they drive 290 instead of 300, that is some small D energy there……

  19. This is gonna really suck! Go hit balls at Top Golf and see for yourself. They use weighted balls, it's the reason their range is so short. Freaking horrible!!

  20. All that the PGA-LIV is to vote it down then they will be two events that they will have to use the rollback golf ball the u s open and the British open!! If the PGA-LIV push back I don’t think it happens!!

  21. Will you do an analysis of which golf balls today meet these new requirements? I’ve been told about 30% of the balls produced today will already meet this standard. Also, how will these new balls be marked, Rory’s initials.? Just joking, though he’d probably support that idea.

My issue, it deals with one small component of the increased ball distance. It’s a bandaid on a pimple. Some old men were embarrassed by the pimple so they want to cover it up and just hope it goes away. I’d love to know who they spoke with as they said they did due diligence. I’d bet that won’t stand up to scrutiny, but no one will look anyway. Only podcasters dare to ask hard questions. The media, golf and otherwise is bought and paid for by old men who think they know better. And I’m an old man, so I’ve seen them do this my entire life.

  22. Your numbers are incorrect, the new standard is based on a 129mph swing speed, the slower you are the more the drop off will be,

This rule will favour people with higher swing speeds, do the math!

  23. I believe golfers are missing a possibility. What would happen if Titleist said, We are not going to change the makeup of the Pro V1. The compliant ball for tour players (roll back ball) and tournament play will be labeled the Pro V2. Those who wish to can still buy and play the Pro V1. I have to believe that Titleist will not give up the market share of golf balls they currently enjoy. If Taylormade, Callaway, Wilson, Maxfli, Kirkland, etc. all take this stance, the "roll back ball" will not affect the amateur, slash, weekend player that is fighting for every yard we can get off the tees, and into the greens. Just a thought, maybe just a hope.

  24. doesn't make sense, change the golf ball, you'll have to change everything. New equipment, which is already expensive as hell. This is just a money grab for the golf industry, I think its gonna kill the game. Just another anomoly in this ever – increasing crazy world we live in .

  25. I know of tons of senior golfers who are trying desperately to get those extra 5 yards, If you take that hope away along with 10 more yards. The game is doomed, they are the ones who have kept this game going and have the money to keep it going, lose them – you lose golf…

  26. The USGA & R&A are only the “Governing Body” if we all let them….we can choose to not fund them and keep playing the Golf Balls that give us the most enjoyment….I think a worldwide revolt is in order…..I for one have cancelled my USGA membership as I no longer think they represent the best interests of the majority of recreational golfers.

  27. Does it make a difference whether a pro shoots par or 30 under to win a tournament?
Most club golfers wouldn't get an invite to Augusta or many of the other courses these guys play.
They are fixing a problem that doesn't exist for 99% of golfers!?

  28. A lot can happen by 2030 => every year clubs themselves get incrementally longer. It is actually relatively likely that the loss of distance by the golf ball rollback will be offset by golf club technology over 6 years.

  29. Same as you Alex. There are many millions of recreational golfers who going to suffer. Maybe the should attack the golf club makers for thr pros. Don't think occasional golfers are going to just throw away ther3 golf balls. It will take many many years for all golfers to phase them out.a rule for a few and not for the many

  30. Will the governing bodies be supplying the golf balls used in tournaments how will they even know golfers aren't just using old balls

  31. Rec Golfer: "I want a golf ball I can hit longer to make the course feel shorter."
Also Rec Golfer: "I refuse to play from the closer tees." (Fragile ego?)

Is anyone else tired of the illogical/hypocritical crying yet?

  32. Wonder how each manufacturer will differentiate compliant balls from older non-compliant balls come 2030. And the additional 2 years given for amateurs – feels like this is for the ball manufacturers to sell all the old stock…I seriously doubt they will continue to manufacture the old balls past 2028.

  33. Pro only is what should of happened. People are not going to buy the balls. The recreational golfer will stock up on their favorite ball. The power of the wallet will win out.
